Let your lecturer's preference guide your choice of text to read (esp. The book were MCQs are drawn) and read all the texts on your phone and buy the one you prefer. Don't let anyone influence your choice of text to read. You may get a distinction with sembulingam but you are struggling with guyton because of what seniors or friends advised you to read. Summarily, carve your niche and read what your brain flows with. Most importantly, be led by the Holy Spirit. |

lomaxx: The Nairaland Medics Thread is a phenomenon. I cannot tell all the testimonies from this association. I cannot count the number of people who eventually studied Medicine because we demystified the experience. I get emails upon emails to that effect. I cannot count the number of people who appreciate the ageless mentorship we provided for medical education. I'm happy within the short time I was active, I was able to motivate, inspire and counsel.
What makes me happy the most, is that you are all succeeding. I'm happy. I'm proud. I want us to take the world from this community and I see that happening very soon.
I see globally renowned surgeons, ministers of health, and presidents from that community. I see AmbFitSaint, the OAU guy, becoming a Nobel Laureate . They are not ready. Hmm. This prediction is gastric sir.. How is everything Sir? |

Sureshegsy: please which textbooks can I used for my physiology(sembulingam or guyton), biochemistry,Anatomy(Keith Moore or chaurasia), embryology and histology What is the name of your school? What is your lecturer's preference? To pass in medical school, you must play by the rule. Beyond passing exams, read my advice on anatomy textbook on my above. For physiology, I will advise textbooks like Fox physiology, Linda contanzo (big) or even guyton. Sembulingam is truly easy but you will know nothing except crammed fact you won't be able to apply. Trust me, when you go higher in medical school, you will regret you read sembulingam when the real stuff confronts you (though it is very good for essays). Ganong is good but an average student cannot cope with it. It is better you grab guyton (my personal opinion though). Biochemistry, Vasudevan is good. Embryology (Keith Moore seems good). Histology (I can only talk of Junquiera). |

hellohgy: Please my bosses in the house...
Which textbook is best for Anatomy Between Charusia And KeithMoore...
this has been causing confusion ..pls help Depends on your school too, ur lecturer's preference and your FLAIR! (Most important). My candid advice as a fellow medic, Keith Moore is better for a medical student (for correct knowledge sake). With my little wardround experience, text books like Keith Moore, Snell's, Harold Ellis, BRS are clinically sound and give you major stuff you need as a medical students. Textbooks like Chaurasia are too deeply anatomic (if you will pardon my language) and uninteresting. Get Keith Moore, acland videos and learning AIDS. Also, Last's anatomy to me is hyperstuffy and only a postgraduate resident surgeon will appreciate the book the more. Summarily, read what will make learning easier and easy to apply. |

Congrat but as a medical student, I know she didn't read her eyes out (to refute the Op's choice of language). Her stuff is familial (go check her family members too). I have Alabi Gbenga who graduated from OOUTH who also broke a record in surgery. I have a friend like that too, they read enormous things within short period of time. |
