okay, i might have to go with your advice. However, when i made enquiries about ICAN i was told since i have a BSc in Accounting i would be taking the skills and professional level and i would need to pay for some exemption which would be upto 50k on its own. Can h help clarify how much i would be needing to start ICAN.

Yes with a bsc in Accounting from an accredited university, you will only need to take four papers from the skill module and the 5 five from professional as against 5 from both skill and professional module in Acca.

Yes you will pay exemptions for the papers you are not writing, am not too sure about the current amount for that. But theres a thread i will link to you

Well firstly i will advise you to take it slow and don't rush. Meaning maximum of 3 papers for every skill level exam and 2 papers for professional exams having prepared for them in at least a 6 months period. For me i took only 2 last diet though because i dont want to take any chances. Acca exams are very technical.

I would advise that you take f4 and f6 first, f5 and f9 next and f7 and f8 or u can take f7 before f8 but never after f8 because f8 requires a reasonable amount of knowledge from f7.

If u would like to take 3 papers. I suggest f4, f5, f6 and then f7, f8, f9. In my opinion its only the combination of f7 and f8 that is really a concern, f8 should never come before f7. And like i have said, even though Acca allows a maximum of 4 papers per diet (limited to 8 papers in a year tho), play safe by taking a maximum of 3 from skill module and 2 from professional module so you wont get discouraged from continuing the exam due to unfavourable outcomes

I combined my ATS 1,2 and 3 with my ND and also i was working as a waiter(Story that was full of ups and downs)
I slept every day in the tutorial centre for the 2 years in my ATS and i scaled through to professional and PE1 and PE2 was combined with My HND,and also ,my Waiters Job and I qualified during my NYSC year and i have updated my knowledge know i teach in one of the ICAN schools.....Dreams Come through brother. optimusmind you only need the work experience to become a fellow for ican. You can use the ACA title by merely completing your exams. This is an advantage of going for ican. Check screenshot

Bro if you dont have the money, just do Ican. Besides Acca's process of becoming a member is too rigorous. You would need to complete about 9 performance objectives (PER), complete a professional ethics modue, gain at least 3 years work experience in a relevant role before you can be considered a member, despite completing all your exams. Also the exchange rate is making it just too expensive to maintain.

My advise is that you should start ican Asap, as it is cheaper and you may not need to complete all those practical requirements to be a member, you can also use the ACA letters to your name by merely completing your exams. No wahala at all.

You can then claim exemptions for some Acca papers in the future after you have gotten your Ican qualification. Am pretty sure by then money won't be a problem again.

If you have no agenda working outside Nigeria , I suggest u enrol for ICAN. You can't use ACCA in public sector entities.

True but there are other several reasons why people choose Acca over Ican.. its not always about working outside Nigeria!!

1. Risk
The is the possibility that something bad will happen.

2. Foreign exchange risk
This is the possibility that exchange rates will move in an unexepected manner. You can either gain or lose from unexpected movements.
For example, you paid for ACCA exam in Pounds and you expect N50k to be removed from your account. When the alert came in, you saw N40k. This means that you made a gain of N10k.

3. Derivative
A deriv-ative is an instrument that DERIVES its value from a specific price, interest rate, exchange rates or a basket of prices, interest rates and exchange rates.
For example, you bought an option that gives you the right to buy share in my company for N100/share. This option will be valuable to you if my share price rises to N150 because you can shappaly buy for N100 and sell for N150.
On the other hand, the option will have no value to you if my share price falls to N90. It will not make sense to exercise the option when you can buy for a lower price in the market.

All these story only applies to fresh graduates without experience. In the real world its more of "what can you offer".. A third class graduate with lots of experience will get a job in most organisations first before a first class with no experience. Be enlightened.

The reason I'm writing ACCA is for the option of Masters, BSC, and MBA... Personaly, I feel it cannot be as expensive as going there for it. And i don't really want to spend more time in school, It would take about another 5 years if one was to put in an mba, MSc and second degree, but ACCA mitigates that.
Just out of curiosity, what is the fee for those degrees like.

For OBU project submission in P33, its 225GBP
And for P34, its 250GBP

For University of London Msc, its over 1000GBP, not too sure the exact!!
