POEM TITLED:The So-Called Sovereign They are the corruption breeders Sweet-toungers of the Sovereign State They are the callous cabals who breach allegiance to the State Sugar-coated mouth embellished with sweet lies High hopes of the so-called electorates on their fruitless promises Shedding and Shattering true innocent bloods to devour power Hijacking the vulnerable at every hour Usurping the able bodied youths to achieve their supercilious gains You see the so-called sovereign smiling to the banks While the so-called electorates sleep on river banks After standing under the scorching sun and roaring rain with optimism to vote Hoping for a better tomorrow While singing songs of sorrow The so-called sovereign secretly ridicule the electorates and rob it all over their gloomy faces They exploit and loot the hard-earned resources of the state Justice was nowhere to be found! And those who searched for it waited till eternity All hope seems lost! What is the essence of law in a lawless state? What is the essence of law when it mainly favours the lawmakers? The so-called sovereign continually adjust and amend the law to fit their felonious favour Hiding behind immunity to commit grave misdeeds They are entirely oblivious of a Day! A Day of reckoning! Where all favour will be lost! It is just you and thy creator Absence of thy ill-gotten wealth or thy selfish mentor Why do so much misdeeds in life When it shall amount to nothing but vanity? POEM TITLED:The Lonely Child Wandering along the empty street No shelter on his agile feet Visually so pale He has faced defeat Physically weak With no garnish for weeks Where are his ward? Where are his Nutrition? Where are his companion? An empty taught That aggrieved his gloomy mind As he struggled and wriggled Through the cold A youth, yet looking Melancholically pale and old Meditating for survival Depressed on his arrival Oh Lord! Where did I come from? He cried wild Who will hear the cry Of the lonely child? BY ABDULLAHI A. HALIMA PS:Plagiarism is a serious offence.DO NOT PLAGIARISE. 2 Likes |

This poem is dedicated to my lovely Mother and all mothers around the world. POEM TITLED:Mother. Mother! The unusual envy of the Father She is indeed a damsel even in her wrinkled days She has the answer to a mystery laid A woman of integrity who shielded me She bumped into the frightening rain To save my dying pain What could be thy gain? How do I reward thee? For a kind gesture That has no measure A soul of Gold That can't be sold A damsel that cant grow old Watching as her journey unfold Which shall be told To the generation unborn Mother! She hopped into the scorching sun To save her burning son A woman of substance With a complementary stance A woman of hope More than a treasured Gold A woman of continuity In the life of Humanity I applaud thee For thy courage Oh Mother! No fortune in life can reward thee Not even the father can withstand the burden encountered by thee Oh Mother! My Gateway to Life I shall forever be Grateful to thee. BY ABDULLAHI A. This is a poem I wrote to appreciate Nigeria's Independence. Title:MY NAIJA, MY PRIDE! Naija,My Beloved Nigeria! A country that glows in all criteria, Blessed with all Abundance; minerals, milk, honey and so much more. Enough for everyone to savor. Naija,MyDearest Nigeria! Thou has been through thick and thin, But still stand strong like an Iroko tree, Every habitat can attest to thee; A Great Nation of higher pedigree. My Naija! My Pride! The pride of Africa, The envy of all Africans, The Giant of Africa, The Mother of all Africans, A Nation idolized by other Nations, Thou still shines like a New dawn, even in Hard times. Nothing can stop Naija! Not even an Insurgent! Naija, thou is insurmountable. A state free of Blemish like a New Bride. My Naija; My Greatest Pride. BY ABDULLAHI A. HALIMA. PS:Plagiarism is a serious offence.DO NOT PLAGIARISE. HAPPY 55th INDEPENDENCE NIGERIA. |

dvdon: If u are a true and patriotic Nigerian, you shouldn't be asking such a question.Mind u,I'm a TRUE,LOYAL and PATRIOTIC citizen of this country and i pray everyday 4 dis country,i also believe and have Faith in GOD. It's just that d situation we are in PRESENTLY,is so depressing and fraustrating 4 us 2 start thinking of celebration.I ask dis question 2 know our views on how 2 move dis country 2 a greater height and i also want 2 know ur views on how u feel about 2morrow, IS IT WORTH CELEBRATING OR NOT,SIMPLE!! .I believe we can all contribute our quota 2ru dis platform, u never can tell if d president is reading dis.And i also beleive dat one day Nigeria will rise among the Greatest countries of d World. Thanks 4 d criticism and HAPPY INDEPENDENCE IN ADVANCE!!. |

These are the questions that keeps ringing in my head,is our independence worth celebrating?what are the (positive) impacts GEJ's administration did to improve our stagnant economy?what exactly deserves celebration? Is it the ongoing ASUU strike?or the rampant killings in d north?.At this state we are in,we should all have a rethink about where we are coming from, where we are, presently, and WHERE ARE WE HEADING TO ![]() |
