Electronic cigarettes are being used to vape illegal substances like cannabis, crack cocaine, ecstasy and heroine.
A study by public health experts has revealed that e-cigarette users are modifying their vaping devices so they can inhale vapour from banned drugs.

Vaping of recreational drugs and new psychoactive substances poses a serious potential public health risk. This could increase the prevalence of use, decrease the age of onset of use and lead to more problematic use of cannabis and other recreational drugs through vaping devices.

Modern e-cigarettes, tabletop vaporisers and vape pens can be modified for use with illegal drugs.
One of the most common reason for vaping drugs is that users thought it was safer than taking them in other ways. Increasing availability, use and acceptance of vaping devices, may lead to greater use of recreational drugs by increasing drug exposure.

The ability to vape deodorised drugs, like cannabis, more discreetly with no smell - known as 'stealth vaping' – makes drug use harder to detect. Vaporisers are being used for street drugs such as heroin, cannabis and cocaine, people preferred cannabis to tobacco due to the health risks but this makes vaping common and acceptable.

The Hepatitis C (HCV) virus is invisible to the immune system by breaking down communication between the immune cells, it builds virus factories that multiply easily. It takes one to three months from infection to disease, it can lead to liver failure and death. Hepatitis C virus is transmitted through blood and infects the cells in the liver, it is difficult to detect because it does not have symptoms when you get infected.

The virus causes chronic infection that lasts a lifetime. It may take decades before the infection leads to liver failure or cancer, so a lot of people are unaware that they have the virus in their body. They only notice it when they get seriously ill, which may be too late for the treatments that are available. Hepatitis C virus destroys important proteins in the immune system to promote its own growth. The ability to directly manipulate their host cells is the reason some viruses are very harmful to human.

Human cells have a complex inner structure that is divided into different areas, with different sacs that are formed from fatty membranes. Viruses that have the same genetic material as HCV (positively polarized single-stranded RNA) cause major changes in these membrane sacs.

Liver cells infected with HCV had altered membrane sacs. To study whether the IRGM protein caused the changes, researchers employed the CRISPR-Cas system, a technique that is used for regulating cells, in this case to turn off the IRGM protein in the liver cells. When the IRGM is removed from the liver cells, the virus is unable to grow.

The reason for this is that the hepatitis C virus utilizes some of the cells, called the Golgi apparatus, where the protein IRGM has an important function. The Golgi apparatus is a kind of transport centre in the cells. It packs proteins into small sacs called vesicles and sends them where they need to go within the cell, or out to other cells.

The hepatitis C virus utilizes this to build its virus factories by taking over and redirecting these vesicles with the necessary building blocks to the site where the factories are being built. These vesicles are rich in lipids that the virus is entirely dependent on to anchor its factory construction.

When this protein is removed, the virus is no longer able to infiltrate the Golgi apparatus and thus it can't build up its secret network of virus factories. Hepatitis C is transmitted via the blood. Infection is spread primarily through unclean syringes, non-sterilized medical devices, or unsafe blood transfusions.
HVC can also be passed on from mother to child, and through bodily fluids.

Message:
A. One fundamental reason why some
people have their back against godly living is
that the ungodly are more in number than
those who are godly.
1. It takes faith in God to live a godly life in
this age of political correctness, the
ascendancy of the philosophies of relativism
and humanism, and agitation for the
“fundamental human rights” of people
involved in acts that are despicable to God.
2. The age-long saying that “one with God is
majority” is no longer popular because no
one wants to suffer humiliation and
marginalisation by the ungodly majority.
3. The story in our Bible reading
demonstrates the truth that one with God is
indeed a majority.
4. While waging war against the king of
Israel, the king of Syria discovered that all
the tactical information he was discussing
with his generals was somehow revealed to
the king of Israel again and again.
5. The king of Syria was so troubled by this,
because he thought he had a mole among
his men, divulging all his secrets to the king
of Israel.
6. My prayer for you today is that God will
expose every plan of your enemies to you,
and all their destructive schemes against
you will fail in Jesus’ Name. Amen!
7. When the king of Syria discovered that
Elisha was The Divine Informant leaking his
secrets, he ordered his arrest.
8. On seeing the great host of the king of
Syria that came by night to arrest his master,
the servant of the prophet was so afraid
and he cried out to Elisha, “Alas, my master!
How shall we do?”
9. The prophet, in 2 Kings 6:16, answered
thus:
“...Fear not: for they that be with us are
more than they that be with them.”
10. After Elisha prayed that The Lord should
open the eyes of his servant, the young
prophet saw an angelic host with horses
and chariots of fire around where they
were.
11. There and then, he believed that indeed
there is a majority of hosts with the one
who is on the Lord’s side.
B. The question is, are you on God’s side?
1. You have no reason to fear if indeed you
are with God.
2. When we are in the minority from a
physical perspective, our Lord Jesus Christ
warns us against being discouraged,
because with God on our side, we are
always in the majority.
3. After all, Jesus’ Name is Emmanuel, which
means “God with us” (Matthew 1:23).
4. 1 John 4:4 says,
“Ye are of God, little children, and have
overcome them: because greater is His than
e that is in you, than he that is in the world.”
5. I therefore encourage you to move on to
the righteous side of God today.
6. Moving on to the side of Jesus Christ is
moving on to the side of Victory,
Redemption and Peaceful living.

Serious bloodstream infections are common among smokers who are obese and inactive. The bloodstream infection is known as sepsis. People who develop sepsis are at risk of death from the infection.

Smoking combined with obesity and sedentary lifestyle can lead to blood poisoning. People with those three factors are at higher risk of sepsis than non-smoking, normal-weight and active people.

Body mass index is the estimate of body fat based on height and weight measurements. A BMI below 25 is considered normal weight, and anything over 30 is considered obese.
People with a BMI between 30 and 35 have increased risk of Sepsis.

Smoking increases the risk by 50 percent when compared with people who never smoked. And being completely inactive was tied to a nearly doubled sepsis risk, when compared with those who exercised strenuously for at least an hour a week.

Obese people may die from sepsis. People with a BMI of 40 or more have increased risk of dying from the infection. Regular exercise and avoiding smoking can reduce the risk of blood stream infections.

MESSAGE:
Humanity is perishing every day because of
sin. So many people are unaware of the
truth of God’s word about the
consequences of sin, and some who know
this truth are drawing back from it. Due to
the pervasiveness of iniquity in the world
today, those who used to be very hot for the
Lord are now cooling off in the flesh, while
some have even departed from the faith
completely. The irony of it all is that the
Church is behaving as if all is well. The world
is blind and needs to know about God. As
God’s watchman, you are the light of the
world. You are a city set on a hill, and you
are the salt of the earth. However, are you
measuring up to God’s expectation in the
area of your responsibilities towards the
great commission? How many sinners have
you spoken to about the consequences of
their actions? How many souls have you
followed up this year? Many believers who
are supposed to be God’s watchmen are
now complacent; they are no longer aware
of what the Spirit is saying. Today, there is
so much religion without the visible
demonstration of the power of the Holy
Ghost. It is through salvation in Jesus that
there can be restoration of life to those
dying in sin. The baptism of the Holy Ghost is
for the purpose of going into all part of the
world to effect deliverance of all those held
captive by Satan (Acts 1:.
As God’s watchman, you cannot afford to
remain empty spiritually. You must be
fruitful (John 15:16). We need to wake up
and start bearing fruit if we do not want to
be condemned. Most of the things
happening around us today that have
become a threat to the Body of Christ are
happening because we are not doing what
God expects of us. If we preach the true
gospel as handed over to us by the apostles
of old, the Church of God today will be more
vibrant, healthier and spiritually active. If you
will be equipped for the great assignment of
the great commission, you need to avoid
falling into the sin of covetousness, pride,
self-centeredness, love of money, and
ambition for power. We need to go to God
in prayer and ask for His fire to be released
upon our hearts, so that we can recover lost
grounds. To God’s watchmen, He is saying
return to the great commission. The great
commission is God’s ultimate assignment,
and it entails transforming people from the
kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of
light, through the power of the Holy Ghost.
Let the gospel be preached to all people in
all places. If there are places you can’t go
yourself, make arrangements to send others
there to do the work. The gospel of
reconciliation is a message of universal
concern, and we can all make a difference as
we play our part.

Message:
Children are assets of the Almighty God
entrusted to our care. We must therefore
ensure that we do all we can to nurture
them for the Lord and not for ourselves. We
should strive to receive commendation from
the Lord for our efforts in bringing them up
as children He can be proud of. Raising
children in today’s world is serious business.
Unfortunately, we live in a world where
parents have left to chance or entirely
neglected the huge task of bringing up their
children in the fear of the Lord. Many
parents justify themselves by concluding
that they are helpless, and they shift the
blame for their own failures to the
happenings in the society. In the time of
father Abraham, there were also parents
who did not bring up their children to
follow the path of God, but for Abraham, his
testimony was different. God said this
concerning him in Genesis 18:19:
“For I know him, that he will command his
children and his household after him, and
they shall keep the way of the Lord, to do
justice and judgment; that the Lord may
bring upon Abraham that which he hath
spoken of him.”
If you want to raise children who will be
obedient to the Lord, you must be ready to
start right from the beginning of the child’s
life. That is what parenting is all about. It
involves training and educating a child from
the phase of infancy through to adulthood.
If you carry out the job of parenting as unto
the Lord, you will be well rewarded by Him.
There are many parents who realized late in
life that they have neglected their roles as
parents. In order to make amends, some of
them begin to make efforts at “repairing”
the lives of their children, but at that point,
they discover it has become a herculean
task.
Obedient children are godly children,
committed to a life of honesty in all they do.
Such children will never bring shame,
reproach or embarrassment to the God of
their fathers, because they have a deep
understanding of the covenant upon which
they have been groomed. There are parents
today who have lost control of their
children. Some other parents have turned
their children into symbols of idolatry. They
fear their children more than they fear God.
May that not be your portion in Jesus’ Name.
Obedient children must honour their
parents. They must respect them
irrespective of their status in society, if they
want to live a life without regret. When their
parents need their attention or help, they
must be there for them. They must also be
ready to submit willfully to their instructions,
corrections and rebuke. There are children
who bring sorrow to their parents. On the
other hand, children of destiny bring great
comfort to everyone around them. Are you a
child of destiny?

Type 1 diabetes and celiac disease are closely related genetically, People with one disease tend to get the other. People who have type 1 diabetes autoantibodies should get screened for celiac autoantibodies. Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease that causes the body's immune system to mistakenly attack the insulin-producing cells in the pancreas, insulin is a hormone that sends the sugar from foods into the body's cells to be used as fuel. Because the autoimmune attack leaves people with type 1 diabetes without enough insulin, they must replace the lost insulin through injections or an insulin pump with a temporary tube inserted under the skin.

Celiac disease is an autoimmune disease that causes the immune system to attack the lining of the small intestine when gluten is consumed, according to the Celiac Disease Foundation. Gluten is a protein found in wheat. Symptoms of celiac disease include stomach pain, bloating, diarrhea, vomiting, constipation, weight loss, fatigue, delayed growth and puberty.

Early diagnosis of celiac disease is important to initiate treatment with a gluten-free diet to prevent complications, particularly growth retardation in children. Other complications are iron-deficiency anemia, osteoporosis, skin rash lymphoma and carcinoma of the small intestine. Treatment for the disease is avoiding eating or drinking anything containing gluten.

The researchers carried out autoantibody test on many children and follow them up for 66 months. Autoantibodies linked to type 1 diabetes were found in some of the children while some have autoantibodies linked to celiac disease. Some of the children have both, the results showed the link between the two diseases, type 1 diabetes mellitus is a risk factor for the development of celiac disease.

Fertility clinics commonly use blood and urine tests to assess the quantity and quality of eggs remaining in a woman's ovaries, American Medical Association has found that these tests cannot predict whether a woman in her later reproductive years will get pregnant naturally. Women have more problems getting pregnant as they age. The egg supply reduces later in life, and the quality of the remaining eggs declines.

The age at which a woman can no longer conceive varies from person to person. About one-third of couples will have trouble getting pregnant if the wife is 35 years old or older, according to the American Society for Reproductive Medicine. Low levels of anti-mullerian hormone AMH and high levels of follicle-stimulating hormone FSH are indicators of low ovarian reserve, it means that a woman has fewer available eggs.

Researchers recruited women 30 to 44 years old with no known history or risk factors for infertility who were just starting to try to get pregnant. They took their blood and urine samples and followed them for a year to see whether the women will conceived.

As expected, AMH levels decreased and FSH levels increased with age. But after accounting for age, women with low ovarian reserve were just as likely to get pregnant as were those with normal values. Fertility tests are very good at predicting how many eggs a woman is going to make with injectable fertility drugs, but they cannot be recommended as a predictor of natural pregnancy.

Message:
The message in today’s memory verse is
food for thought for those children of God
who think that being sorrowful or morose
is a Christian virtue. A glooming spirit is of
the devil, who wants us to be in sorrow
continually. In contrast to this, God wants all
His children to be happy. The Holy Spirit in
Isaiah 61:3 said that God gives joy to the
sorrowful:
“To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion,
to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil
of joy for mourning, the garment of praise
for the spirit of heaviness; that they might
be called trees of righteousness, the
planting of the Lord, that he might be
glorified.”
The Lord Jesus Christ, who came to
demonstrate the nature and character of
God, read the above scripture in a
synagogue on a certain day, and He
declared:
“This day is this scripture fulfilled in your
ears.” Luke 4:21b
By this declaration, as a child of God, you
should not live in sorrow anymore.
All through the course of Jesus’ earthly
ministry, one statement that was common
with Him was, “Be of good cheer”. In other
words, “Have a merry heart”. He continually
said this because He knew that a merry
heart results in a smiling face and is like
medicine to the body and soul (Proverbs
15:13, Proverbs 17:22). For example, in John
16:33, Jesus told the disciples to be of good
cheer because He had overcome the world.
This means that, as children of God, we
should not go about in life wearing a
sorrowful face in self-pity - not even when
we are confronted with the challenges of
life. In the story of the man afflicted with the
palsy, Jesus told him to be of good cheer
because his sins were forgiven (Matthew
9:2). In other words, "Son, although your
sins brought this sickness to your life, you
are now forgiven, and you are made whole."
I prophesy to you today, irrespective of the
agonising condition your past life has
brought into your present, the Lord will
redeem you today. You are forgiven by the
power of the atonement of Jesus Christ, and
you will be happy again in Jesus’ Name. In
today’s Bible reading, the disciples were in
the midst of the sea and its waves tossed
them here and there. In the midst of
palpable fear and despair, Jesus came to
them and rebuked their faithlessness,
before rebuking the destructive wind. He
then encouraged them to be of good cheer.
In like manner, the Lord is speaking to you
today that you will not drown in that
situation. Be cheerful because Emmanuel is

Prostate cancer occurs in the prostate, it
is one of the most common types of cancer in men. Common symptoms are painful urination, decreased force in the stream of urine, blood in semen, pelvic pain and erectile dysfunction.

An easy to produce prostate cancer tracer, a substance vital for the discovery of cancers, has been developed, it is called 68 Ga-THP-PSMA, the new tracer, which was developed with support from the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Biomedical Research.

Tracers are radioactive dyes that are introduced, by injection or in liquid form, into a patient's body before they have a positron emission tomography PET scan. As the tracer works its way around the body, organs and tissues affected by diseases such as cancer may absorb a higher or lower amount of the tracer than healthy tissues.

The level of absorption can be detected by the scan and help specialists to detect the disease. The tracer can give more patients access to potentially lifesaving scans by producing result quickly and leads to early treatment of the cancer.

A spoonful of oil makes vegetables more nutritious, eating salad with added fat in the form of soybean oil promotes the absorption of different micronutrients that promote human health. Conversely, eating the same salad without the added oil reduces the amount of absorb nutrients in the body.

Added oil aided in the absorption of seven different micronutrients in salad vegetables. Those nutrients include four carotenoids – alpha and beta carotene, lutein and lycopene – two forms of vitamin E and vitamin K. The oil also promoted the absorption of vitamin A, the eighth micronutrient tracked in the study, which formed in the intestine from the alpha and beta carotene.

The amount of oil added to the vegetables had a proportional relationship with the amount of nutrient absorption. That is, more oil means more absorption. Researchers examined women who consumed salads with various levels of soybean oil.

The subjects then had their blood tested to measure the absorption of nutrients. Women were chosen for the trial due to differences in the speed with which men and women metabolize the nutrients in question. The results showed maximal nutrient absorption occurred at around 32 grams of oil.

Eating foods rich in calcium and drinking of milk and yogurt regularly may lower the risk of suffering cardiac arrest, people with the lowest blood calcium levels are at risk of having their heart suddenly stop working. Cardiac arrest occurs when the heart suddenly stops pumping blood around the body - if it is not restarted with defibrillator the patient will die within minutes.

Researchers measured the blood calcium levels in different patients and discovered that those with blood calcium levels in the lowest quartile had twice the odds of sudden cardiac arrest compared to those in the highest quartile. Men whose heart suddenly stopped during intercourse may not survive compared to those that have the same experience during sport or doing something else.

Researchers discovered that serum calcium levels were lower in individuals who had a sudden cardiac arrest than in a control group. Patients in the lowest quartile had calcium levels of less than 8.95 milligrams per decilitre, which is just within the normal range of 8.5-10.2mg You can reduce your risk of developing cardiac arrest by eating foods rich in calcium like kale broccoli, watercress and cheese.

MESSAGE:
Having tasted poverty and a little bit of
wealth, I can tell you that wealth is better
than poverty. If you are living in poverty, I
prophesy over you that God will lift you out
of poverty in Jesus’ Name. One of the
reasons why I hate poverty so much is
because of what Proverbs 14:20 says about
the poor:
“The poor is hated even of his own
neighbour: but the rich hath many friends.”
In today’s Bible reading, we are introduced
to a Bible hero who experienced poverty,
but who was not hypocritical about his
undesirable condition. This fellow was
Jabez. His mother named him Jebez because
she gave birth to him with sorrow. As Jabez
grew up, he started experiencing the
meaning of his name, and so, he decided to
do something about it. It is unfortunate that
many people, even some children of God,
bear names with negative meanings and
connotations, and yet they refuse to do
something about it, even after they start
sensing the negative influence of such
names on their lives. My prayer for you today
is that the Almighty God will give you a name
that will wipe away generational curses
plaguing your life in Jesus’s Name. What
Jabez did to change his situation is a
common thing that some people don’t
consider necessary: he prayed.
There are many lessons we can learn from
the life of Jabez, the first of which is that
Jabez called on the God he knew was a
prayer-answering God - the God of Israel.
The question is, who are you calling upon?
Psalm 5:3 clearly tells us who we should
direct our prayers to:
“My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O
Lord; in the morning will I direct my prayer
unto thee, and will look up.”
A second lesson to learn from Jabez is that
he did not ask for a small blessing; rather,
he prayed that God should bless him indeed.
Thirdly, he prayed that God will be with him
in his prosperity and keep him from evil. It is
an open secret that many rich people live in
one calamity or the other. Jabez knew this,
and so he prayed against riches that attract
evil. What a great man who knew the ways
of God! If you want poverty to be history in
your life, you have to do something about it.
Jabez can be classified as someone who
was destined to die in penury, but he
prayed himself out of poverty and God
heard him. Jesus is the way out of poverty (2
Corinthians 8:9). The life that He gives and
His principles will lift you out of poverty.
Therefore, give your life to Him without
further delay today, and poverty shall
become history in your life in Jesus’ Name.

One in every 100 babies is born with congenital heart disease CHD, it is one of the leading cause of mortality from birth defects. Although advancements in surgery and care have improved rates of survival for these infants, CHD patients remain at elevated risk for heart complications, congenital abnormalities and neurodevelopmental deficits later in life.

Some genetic mutations are transmitted from parents to children: researchers identified mutations in FLT4 gene that consistently led to Tetralogy of Fallot, a complex malformation that often presents with cyanosis, or blue baby syndrome. The team found that mutations in the gene encoding myosin, a contractile protein that is highly expressed during development accounted for about 11 percent of Shone syndrome which affects four regions of the left-side of the heart.

The team also reports a shared mutation among some CHD patients with Ashkenazian ancestry. The identical mutation in both gene copies of GDF1 accounted for five percent of severe CHD among children of Ashkenazian descent could have direct clinical implications for assessing risk among people with this ancestry.

Some mutations appear for the first time in a child's genome: the team reports de novo mutations in many genes, but particularly in those that modify chromatin, a complex material that surrounds DNA and that undergoes dynamic changes during development.
These mutations occurred regularly in CHD children with other congenital defects and neurodevelopmental issues.

These same genes have been previously associated with autism, which may be responsible for high rates of neurocognitive issues in some children with CHD. These new findings could be used to expand current genetic testing panels for CHD, to improve both information for parents about the recurrence risks in future children, and the long-term care of the CHD infants.

As many as 400 genes contribute to CHD, sequencing a baby's whole genome may be a better approach than screening for specific mutations. Whole-genome sequencing may be the most effective way to detect genetic variants that cause birth defects and may effect a child's short- and long-term care.

Researchers have developed a new diagnostic and prognosis method for early detection of hepatocellular carcinoma HCC based on a simple blood sample containing circulating tumor DNA. HCC is the most common type of primary liver cancer in adults and among the leading causes of
cancer mortality in the world.

HCC and nonalcoholic steatohepatitis, have increased, early detection improves prognosis and survival rates, in part due to greater efficacy of localized treatment against systemic treatments. But current detection methods for HCC primarily rely upon imaging and a blood test for a non-specific tumor marker called alpha-fetoprotein AFP which is usually elevated when the disease is significantly advanced.

Non-invasive blood tests or liquid biopsies present a better alternative, there has been little success in developing effective blood-based methods for screening HCC. The only blood test, AFP, has limited clinical utility due to low sensitivity. Many liquid biopsies work by detecting circulating tumor DNA ctDNA which are fragments of genetic material shed into the blood by tumor cells. These biopsies offer several potential advantages over other methods of cancer detection.

ctDNA potentially represents the entire molecular picture of a patient's malignancy while a tumor biopsy may be limited to just the tested portion of the tumor. DNA methylation is a process that can regulate gene expression and extensive DNA methylation of a gene usually leads to a gene being turned off.

Increased methylation of tumor suppressor genes is an early event in tumor development, suggesting that altered DNA methylation patterns may be a good indicator of an emerging tumor. Researchers looked at hundreds of thousands of methylation profiles of HCC patients and healthy controls.

The researchers identified a specific panel of methylation markers that correlated to HCC, then used a variety of machine learning and statistical methods to examine their efficacy at detecting and assessing HCC in HCC patients and normal controls.
Blood-based HCC diagnosis highly correlated with tumor burden, treatment response and stage of cancer.

Message:
Who are you? If you are a child of God, then
you must behave like God and reflect all that
He represents. God is love. He is pure and
there is no darkness in Him. If you are a
child of the devil, your life will be patterned
after the devil. I am a branch of Jesus
because I am permanently rooted in Him.
What about you? As a child of the Most High
God, you are expected to demonstrate His
nature everywhere you find yourself. You
are an ambassador of Jesus Christ, called to
show forth the praises of Him who has
called you out of darkness into His
marvelous light (1 Peter 2:9). To be a
representative of God to the world and a
role model among believers, it is required of
you to surrender yourself solely to Him. By
so doing, you will be laying a good
foundation for others to emulate. In many
churches today, their modus operandi is “do
as I say” and not “as I do”. This was not the
example that the believers of old showed us.
Apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians 11:1 boldly
said:
“Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of
Christ.”
He saw himself as a worthy follower of
Christ, and he was not ashamed to tell us to
follow his footsteps.
As an ambassador of Christ, you have a
mandate to fulfill for the Lord in this
generation. You have been positioned at
such a time as this to be relevant in the
scheme of things. Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach
and Abednego stood out from the crowd.
They did not allow the privileges of royalty
to deny them of their place in God. They
were role models for the world to see, and
they did great exploits for God because they
had an understanding of the times and
season they lived in. Do not engage in any
despicable act that will cause men to
despise your God. Do not engage in folly and
a questionable lifestyle that will destroy
what God has planned for you. The world
must know that you are a believer, not just
in word but also in deeds. Let your life be an
epistle for people to read. Do not do
anything in secrecy that will tarnish your
image, because the devil is going round
looking for great soldiers in God’s battalion
to discredit. The devil will never go after
those who have nothing to offer. He is after
the “Esthers” because he wants to stop
them before they get to the king’s palace. He
is after the “Daniels” because he wants to
stop them from being relevant in life and in
governance. He is after the “Nehemiahs”
because he can’t stand them rebuilding the
broken walls of godliness. To finish well, you
must be resolute and determined.
Irrespective of the odds against you, you
must push through, break barriers and fulfill
your destiny in grand style. Be a model of
Christ to all men in word, in conversation, in
love, in hospitality and in godliness.
Key Point:
If you steadfastly take a stand for God, you
will not fall by the wayside of life.

When you are a true child of God, there is

difficult for you to lie. If you are born of God,

move from the categories of dog to a son,
you have to accept Jesus as your Lord &

God is a great transformer. He transform

According to the latest research, workers who regularly pull overnight shifts may be more prone to accumulation of excess weight. Many workers across the globe follow that work pattern, routinely working a night shift increases the risk of becoming obese or overweight.

Sleep disruption is responsible for the accumulation of excess weight, the human body is programmed to sleep when it is dark, allowing hormones that impact hunger and satiety to reset. When people are awake and working when they should be sleeping, the hormones related to hunger and satiety are active resulting in changes in eating, metabolism and a tendency to eat more than needed.

Sleep deprivation is a major stressor that should be avoided, working night shifts is working against natural biological clocks. According to the International Labour Organization, any schedule that requires working between 12 a.m. and 5 a.m. is considered night-shift work.

The review revealed that workers who are permanently assigned to overnight work are prone to accumulation of excess weight, compared with those who alternate between day and night shifts. The longer a worker engages in regular night-shift work, the higher the risk for gaining weight.

Abdominal obesity is linked to night-shift work, night-shift work is related to metabolic syndrome. The syndrome includes high blood pressure, high cholesterol and high triglyceride levels, and it drives up the risk for developing heart disease, diabetes and stroke.

According to the National Sleep Foundation, wakefulness naturally hits its lowest point between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m., at the center of a standard night shift. Night shifts also challenge a worker's ability to access good food and exercise regularly.

Concentrated sugars such as high-fructose corn syrup, a sugar found in sweetened beverages and many other processed foods have negative effects on liver. According to the latest research, mice on a fatty diet who were given high levels of fructose in their diet suffered worse metabolic effects than those given similar calories of glucose.

Researchers experimented in a mouse model used to study obesity, type 2 diabetes, fatty liver and other metabolic illnesses. These animals were given either regular or high-fat diets, and drank either plain water or water sweetened with fructose or glucose.
Comparing these diets, gave more precise role of fructose against glucose in the diet, and how bad is it when it is added to a normal diet against a diet high in fat. After two months, none of the animals on a regular diet developed insulin resistance.

Among animals on a high-fat diet, there is significant differences between those drinking fructose and glucose. Fatty liver disease does not progress to dangerous levels of liver inflammation,

Taking oral vitamin D supplements in addition to standard asthma medication could reduce the risk of asthma attacks requiring hospital attendance.
Asthma affects more than 300 million people worldwide and is estimated to cause almost 400,000 deaths annually.

Asthma deaths arise primarily during episodes of acute worsening of symptoms, known as attacks which are commonly triggered by viral upper respiratory infections. Vitamin D is thought to protect against such attacks by boosting immune responses to respiratory viruses and dampening down harmful airway inflammation.

Researchers analysed data from many participants in seven randomised controlled trials, which tested the use of vitamin D supplements. They discovered that vitamin D supplementation resulted in:
a 30 per cent reduction in the rate of asthma attacks requiring treatment with steroid tablets or injections - from 0.43 events per person per year to 0.30.
a 50 per cent reduction in the risk of experiencing at least one asthma attack.

Vitamin D supplementation was found to be safe at the doses administered. No instances of excessively high calcium levels or renal stones were seen, and serious adverse events were evenly distributed between participants taking vitamin D and those on placebo.

There is a link between obesity and different cancers, being obese or overweight was associated with cancer.
Some of the cancers linked with obesity include: brain cancer; multiple myeloma; cancer of the esophagus; postmenopausal breast cancer; cancers of the thyroid, gallbladder, stomach, liver, pancreas, kidney, ovaries, uterus and colon.

Of all cancers, 55 percent in women and 24 percent in men were associated with overweight and obesity. Blacks and whites had higher rates of weight-related cancer than other racial or ethnic groups. Black men and American Indian/Alaska Native men had higher rates of cancer than white men.

Except for colon cancer, cancers tied to overweight and obesity increased among those younger than 75 years.

Body clock regulates day and night cycle that guides sleep and eating patterns and hormones. Nature can have serious consequences ranging from impulsive behaviour to life-threatening conditions such as obesity and cancer if the body clock is disrupted.

Human body can not adapt to operating outside the normal cycle of working by day, and sleeping at night. Shift workers' biological clocks are set by the rising and setting of the sun. There is no drug for speed up or slow down of body clock.

According to latest research, skipping breakfast is associated with an increased risk of atherosclerosis, or the hardening and narrowing of arteries due to a build-up of plaque. Researchers examined male and female volunteers who were free from cardiovascular or chronic kidney disease. A computerized questionnaire was used to estimate the usual diet of the participants, and breakfast patterns were based on the percentage of total daily energy intake consumed at breakfast.

Some participants consumed less than five percent of their total energy intake in the morning- skipped breakfast and only had coffee, juice or other non-alcoholic beverages); some consumed more than 20 percent of their total energy intake in the morning (breakfast consumers); and those consuming between five and 20 percent (low-energy breakfast consumers).

Atherosclerosis was observed more frequently among participants who skipped breakfast and was also higher in participants who consumed low-energy breakfasts compared to breakfast consumers.

Cardiometabolic risk markers were more prevalent in those who skipped breakfast and low-energy breakfast consumers compared to breakfast consumers. Participants who skipped breakfast had the greatest waist circumference, body mass index, blood pressure, blood lipids and fasting glucose levels.

Participants who skipped breakfast were more likely to have an overall unhealthy lifestyle, including poor overall diet, frequent alcohol consumption and smoking. They may be hypertensive and obese. Breakfast skippers are generally attempting to lose weight, they often eat more unhealthy foods. Skipping breakfast can cause hormonal imbalances and alter circadian rhythms.

Researchers have developed a mobile test using technology found in smartphones, and it could provide a virtually instantaneous way of diagnosing HIV. The test uses a drop of blood from a patient to produce result within 10 seconds.

The test uses surface acoustic wave SAW biochips, which are based on microelectronic components found in smartphones. The disposable quartz biochips are extremely fast because they do not require complex labelling, amplification or wash steps, and a pocket-sized control box reads out the SAW signal and displays results electronically.
