The governor of Imo state Rochas Okorocha, has spoken out about what he feels his party APC is not doing right, according to him while speaking to newsmen in Owerri yesterday, said his regret about APC is that it is not managing its victory very well.

“Make no mistake about it, All Progressives Congress is a good party, by all standards but my regret is that we are not managing our victory very well”, Okorocha said.

Now, this is a bit of good news, a bit because the years given to him in jail are really not that much, a poor man who stole a phone or N50k will be given over 10 years in jail, but then its a step in the right direction. Hope he enjoys his time in jail well.

A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has sentenced a former Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration Safety Agency, Mr. Raymond Omatseye, to five years in prison for a N1.5bn contract scam.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission had arraigned for engaging in contract splitting and bid rigging estimated at over N1.5bn while he was the DG of NIMASA.

The offence, according to the EFCC, contravened Section 58(4) (d) of the Public Procurement Act, 2007.

Omatseye was also charged with money laundering contrary to Sections 14(a) of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act, 2004.

Former Minister of Aviation and former assistant to former president Jonathan, Femi Fani-Kayode who was arrested two weeks ago by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for receiving N840 million from the alleged looted funds has suddenly turned to a pastor in jail.

According to 'grammar speaking' website TheCapital.Ng ''Those who are familiar with his antics believe that he can easily build an illustrious career doing stand-up comedy. This is because Fani-Kayode, like an unrepentant high school miscreant, is back on his grind again, telling people stories and lifting their hopes, so that he could dash them against the jagged rock of disappointment.


Even in cell, Fani-Kayode is at his ridiculous best; by a radical twist of fate, the former aviation minister has turned pastor in the EFCC cell. The Capital findings revealed that Fani-Kayode started parading himself as a holy man of God immediately he was locked behind bars. He wakes fellow inmates up in the morning with worship and praise songs and he subjects them daily to intense prayer sessions by the hour.


Besides his newfound vocation as a pastor, Fani-Kayode is also going round the jail cell promising fellow inmates that he will intervene in their favour and initiate strategic public relations efforts in their interest to repair their badly damaged reputation. Most of his newfound clients were reportedly detained by the EFCC in respect of several cases of fraud.

Its been confirmed that a former Deputy Comptroller General, DCG, of the Nigeria Immigration Service, NIS, Mohammed Babandede has been made the Acting Comptroller General of Immigration, following the the sack of the former Immigration boss, Martin Abeshi, who was appointed into the position by President Muhammadu Buhari last September.

The removal of Abeshi was contained in a letter signed by the Minister of Interior, Lt-Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau (rtd) on Tuesday, May 17, 2016, entitled: ‘notification of retirement’. It directed Abeshi to immediately handover to Babandede.

The letter, which was acknowledged by the affected Comptroller General on Wednesday, May 18, 2016, partly read;
“I write to notify that the last day of your service in the Nigeria Immigration Service has lapsed on Sunday, 15 May 2016 in accordance with the extension granted you vide PRES/92/INTR/7 dated 4 March 2016. Consequently, you are to handover to DCG Mohammed Babandede (NIS/4817) as the Acting Comptroller General of Immigration effective immediately.”

The Central Bank of Nigeria has granted license to the first Islamic Bank in Nigeria, Jaiz Bank to operate nationally. The approval was announced by the Chairman of the Bank, Umaru Mutallab at a meeting with the President-General of the Nigerian National Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs and Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammadu Saad Abubakar IV, in Abuja on Monday May 16th.

“As a regional bank, Jaiz has operated in 12 states (in Northern Nigeria) but with the new licence we can now spread to all parts of the country. We will open branches in the 36 states of the federation"he said

National Authority for Combating Drugs, says two Nigerian men were arrested at Phnom Penh International Airport on Monday, May 9 for smuggling 1.27 kilograms of cocaine inside their bodies. The men identified as Okafor Ifeanyi Anthony and Adibe Paschal flew from Nigeria to Vietnam, via Qatar, and then to Cambodia, using Qatar Airways flight Q970.

"When the [authorities] detained them at the airport, he found some substances which they carried in their hands," said In Song, an official at the Anti-Drug department at the Ministry of Interior. "They carried this substance to deceive us."
"Police confiscated several bags of the mysterious brown powdered substance but it did not test positive for drugs.The drugs that they hid were in their stomach," said Song.
Police extracted the drugs by ordering the Nigerians to eat laxatives and excrete them on Tuesday and Wednesday. Song said that the Nigerians were likely bound for Pattaya in Thailand.

The Federal Road Safety Commission FRSC has dragged a woman identified as Ndidi Amehia Eleazar, before a magistrate court in Ota for biting the thumb of an officer at the Lagos-Abeokuta expressway tollgate on Wednesday May 11th.


According to the commission, the woman was pulled over for having bad tyres which the officer considered a secondary offence. As she was being cautioned on the dangers of using bad tyres, the woman allegedly continued driving. The office went for her ignition and as he tried to turn the car off, the woman allegedly went for his hand and bit his thumb. She thereafter sat on the bonnet of her car to evade arrest.

She was later dragged before the Magistrates’ Court 3 of Ota division on a five-count charge of windscreen violation, tyre violation, dangerous driving, assaulting marshal on duty and obstructing marshal on duty. She was fined N66,000 She however apologised to the officers after she was fined.

Lucky has smiled on the Australian couple that lost three children in the ill-fated Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 that was shot down in 2014, as they have welcomed another child. Marite 'Rin' Norris and Anthony Maslin announced their daughter, Violet May, saying in a statement she had brought them "love and light, hope and joy." She was born Tuesday, May 10.


The couple's three other children -- Mo, Evie, and Otis Maslin --died alongside their grandfather Nick Norris when MH17 was shot down over Ukraine in July 2014. In a statement released by Australia's Department of Foreign Affair, Maslin family said.

"Violet May Maslin came in to the world on Tuesday 10 May, bringing with her love and light, hope and joy.


Our three innocent, beautiful and inspiring children were killed, alongside their grandfather, Nick Norris.

We believe that Mo, whose 14th birthday was Saturday, Evie, 12 next week, Otis, 10 next month, and Grandad Nick have sent us an amazing gift. Violet’s birth is a testament to our belief that love is stronger than hate.


We still live with pain, but Violet, and the knowledge that all four kids are with us always, brings light to our darkness.'

The gentle Maslins have touched hearts throughout the world with their quiet dignity since losing their three children and their grandfather in the crash. No one who was at Perth's Scotch College for the memorial service will forget the love that filled the chapel.

On each seat was a packet of sunflower seeds with a picture of the three children pulling faces. Sunflowers were chosen because they always made the children smile.


Mr Maslin talked about the children in the present tense to the 1000 gathered before him, because he said he was certain they were in the room.

"My relationship with our kids is about hugs, tickles, songs and music - lots of music," he said. Mr Maslin said the beach played a huge part in their lives. They were also "citizens of the world" who had lived in Hong Kong, Amsterdam and a remote community in the Maldives.

"This worldliness gives them qualities that are difficult to define," he said. "In some ways they have crammed more into their short lives than many people would experience in three life times."

Mr Maslin paid tribute to each child - cool but responsible Mo, strong and caring Evie and carefree, crazy Otis - and said he would choose his short time with them over any normal, long-lasting life. "Even ignoring my obvious bias, our three children are unblemished, innocent, perfect souls," he said.

Mr Maslin then stood beside wife Rin Norris at the service as she gave a heart-breakingly emotional tribute to her three precious souls.
