Bros no vex. Guys - Please don’t mind me. I was only “exaggerating” and "generalising with my case”. And my school does not know what they are talking about when they said there is a bureaucracy issue in Berlin. They don’t know what they are saying. It takes 6/7 weeks to process student visa. So if you have 6/7 weeks between your interview date and enrolment deadline, please go for it. And whatever happens, you can thank Mr. Gcapable. Happy now? Gcapable: Please don't generalize with your case, Do you know how many people came to berlin this winter?. As much as I agree that Berlin takes time, there is no need to exaggerate the time 3-4 months (haba fear God na). On a normal day, Berlin takes at least 6/7weeks after interview. Let's learn to say things the way they are. Your case was an exceptional. |

A PIECE OF ADVICE TO 2016 HOPEFULS:
18 weeks after visa interview, I got this email from my school. ….
Dear xxxxx Happy Holidays to you as well! I trust you are enjoying the time here in the Holidays season. Indeed the HFU – including the Chancellor and president of the University are in direct and constant contact with the LABO, and they have promised to come back to them as soon as possible. Due to the Holidays season here in Germany and Europe, this will happen only in the new year. The issue is only a bureaucracy issue, as all is manageable and solution possible – it is due to very last rules and regulations forced here at LABO, most probably also due to the migration crisis.. though it is not officially said so. We truly hope and believe that in January this issue will be finalized and to welcome you here in February. We need to pass through the Holidays season as all offices of LABO and the University as well (as many other offices) are closed till January 6th/ 7th. Till then, I am sending you the best wishes for blessed Holidays season and a happy, peaceful healthy and successful new year 2016! With warm regards, xxxxx
My humble advise to 2016 hopefuls - Do not apply for a student visa interview with Berlin Universities' admission letters, unless you have 3-4 clear months in between your interview date and your enrolment deadline.
I didn’t even apply for my student visa interview with a Berlin University admission letter, as my university is Hochschule Furtwangen University (HFU). All my admission letters and letter of acceptance are issued by the HFU. But I have to take some core Diplomacy modules hosted by the Institute for Cultural Diplomacy in Berlin in my first semester before proceeding to take other modules in International Economics and Business. So technically, it is the LABO Berlin that will approve my visa application because Berlin will be my first point of contact.
The embassy in Lagos sent me an email 2 months ago that they are waiting on the final approval from the alien office in Berlin….2 months ago!!
I feel it is necessary to share this information because I want others to take precautions, so as not to suffer this same fate. 18 weeks (and still counting) is too long a wait for a student visa. It can drive you nuts. My only consolation comes from the fact that my school has been very helpful so far. Others might not be that lucky.
If you have other offers of admission from other Universities not in Berlin, I’ll advise you apply for your student visa with those. When you arrive in Germany, you can enrol at your Berlin University if that’s the Uni you want to attend for reasons best known to you.
I WISH EVERYONE HAPPY NEW YEAR AND GOOD LUCK |

It’s very possible. We’ve seen cases where visa was issued exactly 9 days after interview! But if your school is in Berlin, just forget it. THAT’S NOT POSSIBLE. It depends. Exchange rates vary from bank to bank. You can try Union Bank, I heard it’s the best. I used Access Bank though. As soon as DB confirms the credit of the transfer in your DB account, they’ll issue you a confirmation notice. Mine took just 2 days. Happy New Year. dprinz99: Spy new year. ah v dis few questions 1)wsts the possibility of gettin visa 3weeks after visa interview?has any1 gotten b4? 2)which bank is the best for deutsche bank block account transfer? Since the alien office already confirmed to you that they have given their approval, the issue is with the embassy in Lagos. You just have to keep pestering them with emails and calls. Do you have all these emails - rk-visa11@lago.auswaertiges-amt.de, rk-visa21@lago.auswaertiges-amt.de, rk-s2@lago.auswaertiges-amt.de? Write all of them and look on their websites for more. You don’t have to wait till Jan 4th before you write them. Start emailing them now before the 4th. And on the 4th you’ll call them, and keep calling them until your case is sorted out. Make sure you attach you DB confirmation and your enrolment extension confirmation to every single email you send to them. Goodluck. Adexhat: Thanks Eke40seven, Hampy & williamso. Eke, like i said earlier I've already contacted the aliens office in my city both by phone and email. The person in charge told me exactly two weeks ago that she's already sent an approval to the embassy and other things is left in their hands. She sent the approval after my department forwarded my account confirmation to her. My dept has been in talk also with Lagos embassy via phone calls & emails too, yet i can't understand reason for their silence. Last week they reqquested I clarify that my enrollment date wasn't in October which I did. My department also sent a response to that effect in German which reads (after using Google translation)
Dear Ladys and Gentlemen, Referring to the below e-mail I would like to confirm that the international Master of Engineering begins course for energy and environmental management for developing countries on 01/06/2016 at the European University in Flensburg / Germany with a compulsory course and Mr. ABCD is enrolled for this . From our perspective, we would therefore appreciate it if you could provide him with his visa in a timely manner , because the arrival of new students will take place on 4 and 5 January 2016th Many Thanks!
Right now i'm aware they're closed till 4th, please what's your take on this as I've not booked ticket or even done travel insurance. Should i go ahead with that or chill till next week? What other precautions would you rather suggest?
I await your response guys. Vielen danke |

Brotherly.....How your Christmas for that way? Eke40seven: Complements of the season! But fight just full everywhere... Dolpaz and obiwannn hmmm...Hampy and the rest .ok oo!
Have you called the alien office in charge of your documents in Germany? That should be your first task. Bombard them with calls and mails, because the embassy's hand will be tied if the alien office fails to respond in time. The other area where you will now gear your actions towards will be on the side of your school. The best they can do for you now is to give you a letter of extension.
Once that is done, send it to the embassy. Forward the mail or attach the letter to be sent to them as a reply to the mail they sent to you requesting you to fund your account or just quote your reference number as the subject of the mail and inform the embassy of your extension so that they can have that update with them.
If that is done, then you are in safe hands, please, don't wait till january 6th biko, get the extension letter now!
The problem now though is that schools might be on break till 6th or 7th.....but just get to work! |

Since you have already replied them with clarifications on your resumption date, I think all will be well. They should reply you with the a.m email before 6th of Jan. However, you can still contact your school and let them know what’s going on. Perhaps request for an enrolment extension just in case. Goodluck Adexhat: @All, pls can someone advice on what to do in this case as embassy is yet to respond? I'm thinking of requesting enrollment extension but the question is where would I present it? Should i requesst for it before 6th and send it to embassy or what should be done to it?
Please I need a response asap. Danke.

The fact that you didn’t respond to his post does not mean another person wouldn’t. At least Babanila has tried his best to respond. When we tell people to read from page one to page three hundred and something before they can decipher an answer to a simple question, we’re not being fair on them. At least we should endeavour to answer their immediate questions first (If we can) and then advise them to read up on previous posts for them to fully understand the process. No be “When you are really ready read this thread because all the info is here”. That kind of response would make anyone feel stupid. Although I know that’s not your intention. justwise: Now i see why people have responded to your post, keep waiting and good luck. |

Open blocked account - you can download the forms online, fill, and submit at the embassy alongside admission letters and a photocopy of your passport. Apply for an interview date once you’ve open your blocked account with the slip that will be given to you and your admission letters Prepare for your interview. Go online for a detailed list of documents you'll be taking along for your interview. Or read the thread backwards. It's written somewhere. Fund your blocked account Pray and wait for visa. Bro.. If you read my post carefully, you will find out that I never insulted the dude. I didn’t even call him a scam. I chose my words very carefully. So I’m surprised why I’m being attacked. You guys (yourself and DanIndia) obviously misunderstood my post. I didn’t intend to mock him or anything… As a matter of fact, I acknowledged the fact that he may write or even speak better than most of us in the first line of my post. I guess DanIndia didn’t read that part, or perhaps he chose to ignore it. I didn’t doubt that he made a first class. I’m only surprised he made a first class with the way and manner he writes. But the dude already answered me - They don’t really need the language in his field, Chemical Engineering. So I guess I just had too much expectations. Considering the fact that he made a first class, a feat I so much desperately want to achieve. I’m less concerned about his grammar. But when he said he made a first class, I was surprised how he was able to do it. It is not easy to make a first class in my field also. But you cannot write the way he does and make a first class in my field. At least not in my Alma mater. Now as for his willingness to help those struggling with accommodation, that’s a good one. But it just smells funny to me. That was what warranted my post about people not paying for what they are not certain about. Which is why we are all here in the first place. To help each other about German University admissions, student visa applications and also help each other not to get conned in the process. That is not to say he is a scam or fraud. I didn’t call him a scam, I didn’t call him a fraud. You may find my post offensive, or funny. It wasn’t directed at you. I understand the need to come out for your friend. But you would have done better if you direct your post to those who actually insulted him. @Tchio2020…I never intended to insult you or mock you (to use kciano’s words). But if you feel offended or insulted with my posts, then I’m truly sorry, okay? Have a wonderful evening peeps. kciano: I laughed as I read ur post..it's really crazy that u r concerned with someone who doesn't write good English..does the world need fluency in English..they care more on who can deliver. The guy is my friend..he got admission where i wasn't able to get..he was suppose to come to magdeburg with me... He is intelligent and he is delivering and u r concerned about his grammar.. he was only trying to help ..pls he is not a scam ..he is even on scholarship right now..u simply don't understand him.. nxt time before u talk.try to understand someone...it's not easy to make a ist class in chemical engineering...i read chemical engineering too but i didnt make ist class ..if u think ur grammar can make a ist class in chemical engineering..go and try it.. he has time to be replying u guys.. the course wey I dey do self.i neva even read half of the pages and exams are January...

LOL. Bros you get me for mind before? No vex if i don offend you o. DanIndia: Hampy, before you point fingers at others, why don't you take a look at your very self? Even your write-up is no different from his. Look at the bold and tell me how you expect to be better than this same guy. You come here and judge someone who probably has got no problem whatsoever achieving something you seem to desperately want. Do you expect him to write a post the same way he'd write his project ? Or maybe you expect him to correct every grammar and spell-check every sentence ? He is a Cameroonian. Your lecturers are Germans (that is if you're in Germany), non-native English speakers, and if you follow them on social networks, their posts would prove the same.
Your country's previous first lady (I need not add that she bags a Ph.D) wasn't what you'd call a very good user with the English language but yet, she sat on the most powerful seat a Nigerian woman could ever get close to. Well, you may have voted for the husband but it's a package.
You do not judge someone's fluency in a language just by the way they write. You judge them only after seeing the way their write-up is, hearing them speak, and their ability to read/understand situations in the language. If you're not familiar with language testing boards, this is the same way they operate. They evaluate you based on these tasks and then round your proficiency on it. You could score a 6/7 band (which is what most Nigerians get in writing) and a 8.5 band in listening. Does that make you a bad user of the language ?
P.S: The edits I've made above is not to prove to you that I'm better at using the language than you are, in fact, you could be way better and I'd gladly live my life to the fullest knowing/not knowing that - it's just to let you know that; no matter what it is in life, you could be better than someone else at it, but, that doesn't mean you find every chance to stick that in their face. They already know it, you don't have to remind them. The same way you'd not want someone else do that to you. |

Your command of English language is not that good. Don’t get me wrong, you probably write or even speak better than most of us, okay? But what I’m saying is - Your under graduate course was taught in English, you wrote your project, publications and other papers in English, and you defended in English……And you made a first class? With the way you speak and write English? That’s something really strange…..I’m sorry bro. I also have a funny feeling about this post. This is not to say that you’re fraudulent or anything. It just smells a little bit funny. Thanks for wanting to help….But I suppose everybody on here know the drill…….Don’t pay for anything you cannot see, feel, or touch! See the accommodation with your korokoro eyes, find out about its genuinity before parting with your hard earned money. Sorry bro I just have to get this off my chest. However, we can be very good friends. At least you’ll teach me how to make a first class. I’ve always dreamt about it, but never achieved it. Bro, thanks for you advice. I really appreciate it. But just try and look it up - www.care-concept.de. We shouldn’t just take everything we read on this thread as being as it is. We should try and do our own individual research and make up our own minds. If everybody on here has been using AOK, that one no mean say Hampy go use AOK. As long as AOK is not compulsory, then I’m not using it. Except say na by fire by force. AOK is just too expensive. Care-Concept is much more affordable. And as for the benefits - I’m perfectly okay with the benefits provided by Care-Concept - the insurer is HanseMerkur, I’ll get inpatient, outpatient and dental treatment, medically prescribed medications, pregnancy examination (for the babes wey go get belle…lol), and all you have to pay is just 50Euros deductible aside your monthly premium, accident related medical treatment of up to 250Euros, repatriation and burial cost of up to 10kEuros and a lot more. I no fit shout….look it up. jerikoyan: Bro i wont advice you take Care-Concept oooo if it is private insurance, i know of someone who just got little ileness and had cause to visit the hospital,he was using a private insurance, spent just one night there ooo, nah so hospital dey call am to come and pay or forward the bill to his insurance when we go the hospital nah so i begin laugh for hospital loudly a swooping 600+ Euro for just one night if the illness dont know if his private insurance will pay for it on time and the hospital will keep calling him, had it been its a public insurance now like AOK no need to worry, |

And I’m not forcing anybody on here to follow suit. My school suggested Care-Concept, I looked it up, I feel good about it and I’m going to use it. As a matter of fact, I have even applied and I have my certificates already. Sorry to disappoint you. As far as I’m concerned, saving money is much more important to me in this situation. I no get insurance for naija and I no die...I hardly get sick, thank God for that. Even the money I’ll be paying to Care-Concept for their health insurance package will never be needed by me at anytime for any reason by the special grace of God. As for the quote from Nevilbot….. I don’t see how that applies here…..But thanks anyway. Best wishes. lamingo: Hampy, dont be offended, You have been on this forum for long but I am highly disappointed in you with the way you hammering on this Care-Concept like a NEWBEE, you wey naija wahala and polluted air done deal with, want to compare to compare your self with oyinbo wey dey get health insurance from pikin and never get fever for his life. Noted. But it was my school that suggested it. I don't even know about it until my school emailed me and mentioned it. I don't think they would have suggested it if the Auslander won't accept it. Anyways, it's what I'll use....There's no harm in trying, especially if it's going to save me a lot of money. AOK Insurance is now 61 Euros monthly (732Euros in a year) while Care-Concept is 28Euros (312Euros in a year). That’s a difference of 420Euros that can cover a lot of other things during my study. If the Auslander rejects it, I believe they should tell me the reason why…..if they don’t, I’ll ask them politely and I believe I’ll get clarifications. These are two different companies offering the same services - student health insurance. One is considerably cheaper than the other, a student should have the choice to pick which one…. and if the Auslander rejects a student’s choice, then they should state the reason why. They can’t just turn me down and send me out of the door because I refuse to buy my health insurance from AOK. These companies usually have a kind of pact with the embassy, consulates, Auslander etc. Little wonder why most, if not all, of us opened our blocked accounts with Deutsche Bank….DB is not the only bank you can open your blocked accounts with… But it is the bank being touted by the embassies and most of their websites has the DB weblink directing you to their website….Why? Thanks bro. I go try my Care-Concept and if they no gree I go use the one wey dem talk. I no get option. But that will mean that the system is coercing me into contracting with a very expensive company when I can get the same product at a relatively cheaper rate from another company. Which is so unfair….Which is so unjust…….And which can be corrected……If we all make our positions known to the relevant authorities. After all, we are students and the system shouldn't be seen to be exploiting us.. Good morning. ( Eke40seven: You think say we no know care concept tay tay...care concept is just like IGI, your auslander no go accept am... Except of course you are using it in place of IGI, but note that it ends here. |

You guys can look it up - www.care-concept.deI’ve applied for it and I’ve gotten my Insurance Certificate and other documents already. It is even stated on the Certificate that it can be tendered in embassies and consulates, so i intend using it for visa collection in lieu of IGI or Leadway….. |

Thanks for this comment. You’ve opened my eyes to the grading system. Now, I have something to work with… Everyone can plan and work towards making a 100% and bad as e bad we go end for A+, or worse case scenario, A. It is very doable. I have seen dudes who didn’t start out well academically end up being top in their classes, and I have also seen very brilliant ones who ended up very poorly. It has nothing to do with clubbing or working 2 jobs. Infact, it has nothing to do with your social lifestyle. But, it has everything to do with your time management. Which we should all pay very critical attention to. We should endeavour not to miss classes, we shouldn’t hesitate to ask questions when we don’t understand, we should TRY and buy books and materials on our individual courses, we should devote adequate time to self learning and we shouldn’t be overwhelmed by the pressure of it all, which is why we need a distraction…..Some go to church, some to the mosques, and some to the clubs… or wherever…. A little distraction is allowed bro, and you can never get derailed if you plan your time properly. To be honest, I really understand the point in @Pauluche’s comment. I was only trying to make light of his comment by mine. But I meant every single thing i said. Look at it from this angle, I don’t speak and understand German language……..My course is taught in English language……But I would love to learn the language…..at least e go add to CV at that part where you go add languages spoken, you go fit put English and German…..I intend to take German classes when i arrive in Germany, and have someone nice and cool I can actually learn from and speak with……so having a German girl will be like killing two birds with one stone….. Don’t you get it? Easy bro….How that way? Cindino20: Bros chill...all these "workin 2 jobs" u don see their results? If person make bad result here e don finish o...baba dem nor dey see my mama know am na make dem gv me job o...
To get 1.0 (A+) na 95% ie 58/60 or 95/100
1.3 (A)abt 90% 90/100
1.7 -2.3(1.7-2.0=B, 2.3 =C) abt 80-90%
3.3 - 2.7 65%-80%
3.7- 4.0 50-65%
The pass mark in most uni is abt 50% ...50% for naija na C ..the person don dey form big boy abi. And A is 70% right?
No disrespect but nor be everybody when register as student be student some re here to work within that 2yrs and enjoy tax cuts as students(very common) and after they spend 3yrs in one uni they switch and continue from another uni.
Baba i will nt advise any new student to pick up a job during his/her first semester( my opinion). U need time to understand the system and then plan how to combine work and study...
If u ve a good grade in ur first semester ....u can apply for grants or look for jobs as Hiwi (student/research assistant)...it is nt that simple but it is possible...
And if u graduate with a good grade ...learn the language( even if nt as fluent as native speaker just show some commitment)..u can always find something to do and no one can take advantage of u cos their isa minimum amount u can earn with your degree. And if u dont wanna stay here with ur good grade u can find something elsewhere....
Intelligent or dull..u need time to understand these concepts as often at times they re new ..no thanks to our education system..at the end of the semester u may ve up to 300 slides with additional materials to study...
One lecture = ca. 20 slides One semester =14 appointments with exercise if applicable.
One slide is abt 2 pages in textbook
in Nigeria u can go to club tonight and come write exam the next day (20 page course) and if u dont know u spy...but when u enter Hörsaal ( big lecture hall) and they tell u 3 per role( abt 3 free seats) and leave the next role empty....and duration 2hrs( u fit use 15mins dey read fhe question there)...Charlie body go tell u walahi. Or na oral exam...u open the door come meet 2 ot 4 profs all line question down...anxiety fit make u yarn trash sef...
to even write 2 exam one week na unwritten taboo.
I ve never written 2 exams in one week...the dept knows that these courses re bulky hence they ve at least a week interval btwn each exam and like uncle Futurewise talk if u fail 3 times u can never study that course again in Germany...if u even fail once the pressure is already on you
Baba make una leave club now and face book o... the thing dey hard the first semester but later come easy and if u miss am now baba forget am...e don go be that.
And to the other applicants this post is nt supposed to frighten u guys but sometimes we ve to say it the way it is ....prepare urself abeg and una when just land ...una don dey see am already..
It is doable...Hardwork Pays!.
All the best pple. |

I got you bro. How every for that way? I hope you're settling in well...... Eke40seven: I think i will tilt towards your opinion a bit...there is a saying in ancient greece, "man, know thyself". A self evaluation of your abilities, limitations and strengths will yield that, what works for A may not work for B. Some will spend their whole time in the club and still come out tops and some will spend all the time in the library and still struggle, whichever way, we should endeavour to get the best out of ourselves, i guess thats what Paulucje Meant, but the process of doing that may differ for different people. And for the blonde debate between, pauluche and hampy, well i no get anything to say but @Hampy, note that it may not be as you described o..this is not the US, these people here may have a different view. |

Gbam... Guy.....I need to buy you one bottle of Henne for this comment...... How make we take hook up? Rayhut: @ Pauluche, you are using your personal experience to generalize the whole scenario in German universities, in big cities many students are working and at the time going to school and passing their exams, some are even working in two different places. Some students married their German girl friend while doing their masters. The issue of failing or passing exam have nothing to do with clubbing or working, if someone is intelligent or have determination and can read and understand easily, you can club, work and still come first in the class. Some people are from rich family if they spend their 8040 finish their parent will send another one to them, some don't have and have to work to support their self. In all it depend on the goal that somebody set for himself. If somebody carry him head shook for only book for Germany the person will only allow the school to pass through him or her without allowing himself to pass through the school. All jack and no fun makes jack a dully, body nobi firewood, nwanne guys suppose explore Germany to be able to have a story to tell, gutter no dey block oo if someone is smart. Flexing is not bad oo if one do it moderately. |
