lafuria1:
His supporters were so shocked about it that they denied the video.
The video speaks for itself - "..I will enrich my friends...as long as there's no element of corruption involved.." I am surprised that most of you have chosen to ignore that part of his statement. That's either mischief or ignorance or both. In a country where the current administration's policies had shuffled economic growth, Atiku' s statement resonates well with the business community. Me I want to be Atiku's friend o.

PoliticsRe: APC Resorts To Violence In Kwara As “o To Ge” Loses Steam – Kwara Group by Hampy: 9:45am On Jan 15, 2019
What part of "the APC are making this election as though it's between their various candidates and Saraki" don't you get? The APC are hardly campaigning, all they are doing is attacking Saraki. And ATUNWA has been campaigning - you wouldn't know this because you're in Kaduna. Besides it benefits the APC more if there is violence in Kwara state because the FG can hide under that to militarize the state. Heavy police and army presence will intimidate voters from coming out to vote and only the APC stands to benefit from this. THINK!!

TravelRe: General German Visa Enquiries Part 3 by Hampy: 6:55pm On Apr 18, 2016
Okay good. Now you know 3 people (2 got their visas between 6 - 8 weeks and 1 got his visa about 8 months after student visa interview). So, how would you advise your sibling to proceed? To plan for 6 - 8 weeks? Or prepare for 6 - 8 months? Or totally try to avoid the situation? Have you ever heard the Idiom - “Hope for the best and prepare for the worst”? Sure you have.

The people on here are not stupid. They know what to do. I’m only sharing my experience on here. Sorry about that.

BTW - Thanks
Gcapable:
This is not true, I know of 2 people that came to Berlin to start the summer semester and they got their visa in the normal 6 - 8weeks bracket. The department that attend to refugees is different from that which attend to students in the same foreigner office. Like I said to you earlier, your case was an extreme case and don't generalize with it. Congrats on your visa.
TravelRe: General German Visa Enquiries Part 3 by Hampy: 11:58am On Apr 17, 2016
My school granted an enrollment extension, so i’ll still be joining them this summer semester which started April 11th.

The reason they gave for the delay is that the alien office in Berlin was/is overwhelmed by the refugee situation (to cut the long story short)

My candid advice for students admitted to Berlin Institutions - apply for your visa in time (at least 5 - 6 months before your enrollment). Otherwise, use admission letters from other institutions from other cities, if you have that.

I think the situation is getting better now that most EU countries are now rejecting and returning the refugees.

Good luck to all.

Wow... Congrats Hampy.

Share with us please. How was it all sorted out? What advice do you have for students admitted to schools in Berlin? Are you resuming in the summer semester or your admission was deferred to next winter?

You can certify your documents in your respective states. You don’t have to go to the German embassy. There are Notaries Public in each and every state that you can visit. If you don’t know any, just go to the NBA office in your city and ask for names and office addresses of any Notary Public. Some would charge you, some wouldn’t. We are all different. But if every Notary you meet wants to charge you which rarely happens, and you don’t have the money, then you can visit the Attorney General’s office and I’m sure he/she will be glad to help.

My documents were certified by a Notary Public and I have also had cause to certify and sign some documents by my Attorney General in the past. So this is something I’ve tried numerous times.

I hope this helps somebody.

TravelRe: General German Visa Enquiries Part 2 by Hampy: 7:46pm On Jan 30, 2016
@Schwartz said "If you intend to borrow your blocked account money to come to Germany to study, forget it!”. And you said he’s not discouraging anybody…I’m afraid you’re the one who’s missing the point here. If I don’t have rich parents/guardian/sponsor or someone who can finance my studies….And I have dreams of studying abroad, and I intend to raise the money by borrowing from family and friends, @Schwartz said I SHOULD FORGET IT! That I will run into problems because of some issues some people have in Germany. What’s that? encouragement?

I’m not a weakling bro. I’m a go-getter. I don’t give up on my dreams. And I will not have any issues in Germany by the special grace of God. If that’s what you wish for me, then your wishes won’t come true. Sorry to break your heart.

BTW - Happy New Year sire. How’s the weather treating you out there?
justwise:
I know that many of you will get the wrong end of his post, he was not discouraging anybody but rather telling people to manage their expectation and prepare before leaving Nigeria. Don't expect everybody to come here to tell you what they are going through because people like you will call them enemy of progress and accused them of discouraging you from achieving dream of studying abroad.

Its very easy to dream big influenced by unrealistic expectation while still in Nigeria but when you get out you stopped picking calls from home.

Lol. You got jokes!
justwise:
[b]

You completely missed the point! Somebody just told you the 'other side' of the reality and you failed to understand that. Wait until you get to Germany and learn the hard way then you will remember this post.
TravelRe: General German Visa Enquiries Part 2 by Hampy: 4:24pm On Jan 30, 2016
What exactly is your point here? That people shouldn’t pursue their dreams of studying abroad, even if it means borrowing the funds? You’ve been very informative with your post, thank you. But you’ve only succeeded in playing on people’s fears and you may have discouraged quite a few peeps in the process. You may never know. You criticised those you say come on here and paint glory pictures of Germany, while you have done exactly the same thing by painting sorry pictures of Germany. How about those that borrowed money to fund their blocked accounts, got to Germany, paid back their debts, go to school, work the regular menial jobs you say are available, make good grades and come back home with a very good certificate? It’s either those people are not in Germany or you’ve just been so unlucky not to have met them.

IF YOU HAVE DREAMS OF STUDYING IN GERMANY - DO NOT BE DISCOURAGED! DO NOT LET ANYTHING STAND IN THE WAY OF YOUR SUCCESS. FORGET THE STORIES THEY TELL YOU ABOUT THIS PERSON OR THAT PERSON. BE READY TO PURSUE YOUR DREAMS - EVEN IT IT MEANS “GOING TO WORK AT 4AM, COMING BACK AT 2AM, OR HAVING ICE BLOCK FALL ON YOUR HEAD”.

Over and Out.
Schwartz:
People get there visa and no one hears from them anymore? People in the past paint glory pictures of Germany to you? Let me tell you the hard truth.
If you're coming to Germany because you truly want to study that particular course and you have financial back up in Nigeria, Come! You are welcome to Germany
If you intend to borrow your blocked account money to come to Germany to study, forget it! It will take you years to pay back that loan. You will be frustrated when your debtors will start to call you except you have no conscience and don't intend to pay back as agreed.
You have seen posts of 8.50€ per hour minimum wage and 450€ per month mini job and you brought out your calculator and you totalled it to be over 100k per month! And you thought to yourself, I will hammer in Germany. Sorry.
Forget that Naija mentality where you are sure of a certain amount every month. Not here. Majority of jobs for students is 'as it comes'. Meaning today your agent may call you, tomorrow and next no work for you. Basically there's hardly any permanent job that you can depend on. You need to keep looking out for new jobs. Here, say you get an agent, they send you to clean people's homes, wash plates, carry load, packaging, baby sit, and other menial jobs (forget suit and tie), you can't even be sent to work everyday. Its against your visa rule. No company will hire you for 30 days straight (except holiday jobs during just few months of holidays). Do you know what it means to leave your house sometimes 4am to go to work? Sometimes you return from work 2am? Be ready to work at odd hours. The cold here is brutal. Imagine entering into a deep freezer everyday. Sometimes its even colder than your freezer. During winter you can get -16°c. Brutal cold with wind and ice block falling on you from the sky. Passing through that so you can eat and pay bills.
Everything thing you make goes to expenses. Germany is a very expensive country. When you convert basic things you normally buy cheaply in Nigeria to the price in euros you will cry. Imagine buying small plastic rubber to store something in the fridge that will cost nothing more than 100 naira for 2pcs and you buy only 1pc for 1€. Everything thing is at least double the price in Naija. Some are far more expensive. It means that the high amount you make goes back to spending. Now get this, depending on the city you live in, your house rent

It's your bank's fault. Like I said earlier, they don't understand the transaction and they probably didn't do the bidding properly. Instead of going all the way from the east to Lagos, why don't you call your bank's head office in Lagos - make your complaint about the previous transaction that was rejected by the CBN. Tell them you are surprised that your transaction was rejected because a number of your colleagues did theirs with the same FORM A and it was approved by the same CBN. You can even threaten a court action. I'm sure they will do something about it, without you having to travel to Lagos. They'll probably enlighten those at your branch properly.

dprinz99:
wasn't realy the bank's fault

Name of Beneficiary: Write your name as it’s stated on your DB details
Address of Beneficiary: I filled in my school’s address in Germany.
I did not use any phone number.

I don’t understand why your transaction was rejected. It may not be because of the way you filled your form. Perhaps, it’s just that the CBN did not approve it because of the new stringent policies in the currency market or that your banker doesn’t really understand the transaction and didn’t bid properly. I’ll suggest you try other banks.

Good luck.
