Same Abacha that supervised a major dark episode in Nigeria history. We have another villian in the name of Yakubu Gowon named after a major street in Asokoro. The major dual carriage Way was named after same Gowon in Jos. Now,recently,Goodluck Jonathan boulevard in Central district was changed to Mohammadu Buhari Boulevard! Another sadist,jihardists and accomplice in genocide. The list goes on and on. Same as Awolowo who is the mass killer in chief! What about Tinubu? The entire Lagos landscape is dotted with his signature and names. Is there anyway Ifeajuna and Nzeogwu are not mentioned this way? His rainbow net and Cosmo Fm were signature ideas too in Enugu. Enugu is a hidden jewel in the east. Complete the International conference centre,Complete the abandoned mega projects along Rangers avenue started by Chimaroke but siezed by EFCC,revive hotel presidential and hand it over to any international hotel franchise (Raddison Blu,Marriot ,Sheraton,IBIS etc),revive Cosmo and launch a company that provides 4G broadband Internet services,fix the roads in Emene industria estates,concession Akanu Ibiam airport and we have a city ready to take on the world. Therefore, Igbo must reject the idea that their homeland isn't good for investment and put some if not most of your investment in your own state.

When you cannot put the investment in tour state, invest in Ghana, Angola, Namibia,Senegal, Cote d'Ivoire. As a Lagosians myself, I don't see how Ambode has surpassed Fashola. Those of us that stay around the Amuwo-Festac-Satellite Town axis and beyond stretching to Ojo have seen everything deteriorate under Ambo. Lagos state leadership is the most overrated in Nigeria by far. Well noted sir but the aspersions being casted on Dangote have absolutely nothing to do with his ethnicity but everything to do with the suspect quality of his products. This is also coupled with his aversion to invest in Igboland. Mechatronic cannot take the place of Chemical Engineering. Fluid Mechanics,just like Strenght of materials are some of the core engineering areas every engineering student is taken through. Fluid Mechanics is core of Chemical Engineering and one of the best brains in that field,Professor Agunwamba was my former landlord. Not having a chemical engineering department is a limiting factor if you understand the complete engineering processes. I was of department of Economics class of 2008 but have since acquired further interests in designs and facilities management. Nice to have you here too. Keep repping.

Apart from those places you mentioned,there are still enough spaces to erect the structure..That place were Maryam theatre is located still has large expanse of empty land..Pius Anyiam was erecting a big structure there too but I think work have stopped on the project. As for the new Senate building, I just hope it's not a way for them to loot some money .There are already many uncompleted big projects in UNN and UNEC too which if it were to be completed the school won't be were is it now.

As for the Maryam theatre, the project have been abandoned since..There is a rumour going round saying that it was abandoned because they did a poor work in the foundation and that the building is collapsing because of that.Nobody knows the actual truth why it was abandoned.

As for the abandoned Maryam Babangida auditorium,same weak foundation story was circulated during our time. An excuse that is as lame and ridiculous.Only in Nigeria do we hear such lame excuses. If the foundation is weak,there are a million ways to shore it up and these include redesigning of the base,installing core reinforcement columns and pillars both on the base and the sides etc. Such excuses dont fly in the face of current advances in Civil and Structural engineering. Politics has always been in the details. If completed,that 7000 seater auditorium would have been the biggest in Nigeria and arguably Africa.
Recall that Nnamdi Azikiwe Library is the largest University Library in Nigeria and was vigorously pursued and completed,against all opposition by Dr Sam Egwu when he was the Minister of Education strictly as a legacy project.
The burnt Engineering laboratory is still not restored and Chemical Engineering department cancelled as a fall out of the Civil war is yet to be allowed to resume again. Hell will freeze over for the teleguided NUC to grant such approval again. I wish our people will really understand the depth of conspiracy going on in Nigeria especially as it affects us.

Enugu's saving grace is the 2 major highways running in the outskirts of the main city. This helps to divert all outward bound traffic out of the city centre. Enugu has about 7 flyovers and a tunnel to keep its local traffic separate from those moving around the state on the highway.

. You are absolutely correct. The underpass you showed at end of Chime Avenue and Tunnel are vital traffic buffers. Sure,most of the flyovers are along Enugu-PH expressway and Enugu-Onitsha expressway too. I maintain the layout of the city may not accomodate flyovers.The pictures below are the new flyovers in Lagos and the aesthetics on them to increase the city's ambience. I guess that explains the clamour for flyovers within the city by some people here. But then,the dynamics of Lagos and Enugu are worlds apart. They are too different to tow same aesthetic paths.

I grew up in Enugu and still drawn to the city 15 years and counting after relocation. The layout of that city is unique. It was planned in such a way that there are many adjoining streets leading to different locations. I still do not know where one expects fly overs in the city centre. I may be wrong but i stand to be corrected.I do not see the need for fly overs within the city centre. Except maybe at Ogbete/Chris Chemist Area to curtail the market madness that was once showed by Mr Spyder. In the absence of fly overs,sculptures,sculptors and water fountains can be erected in strategic locations.
Imagine having this kind of Lion Sculpture with water fountain in front of UNEC?
Then such wide and iconioc ones in other strategic locations to complement the one at Rangers Avenue

I think it's re;ated to the fact that despite the exposure of Enugu residents, they tend to be conservative unlike people in Owerri. That's why the only cinema in the town can just close down like that.

Enugu has a feel of typical Belfast. Highly conservative,yet so livable,exposed and taciturn all in contrast with a bustling and almost mad saxon city of Manchester. I'm i the only one that is thinking that Enugu should stop playing safe and should actually try to build a few white elphant projects to give the city a new outlook. I mean go the route of Akwa Ibom or Cross River and built something gargantual that will finally put Enugu where it is supposed to be. I also think there should be a concerted effort at attracting investors into the state to provie employment and increase the purchasing power of Enugu residents. Are you aware that there's no functional cinema in Enugu while the one in Owerri is still functional and you would think that Enugu people will have more purchasing power.

The cinema thingy you stated quite beats me too. Why Genesis closed shop in Polo Mall is still strange.What with the urbane and elevated life Enugu residents live. I was still home last Xmas and was super impressed with the mindset of Enugu residents.Lots of diasporas were around but there prevailed a sort of refined influence in the city. Having said that,I think the New Conference Center which was once stated here the governor intends to complete fits into the bill.With the Conference Centre and Hotel Presidential in the pipeline of being completed,there will be some elevation and high net worth attracted further to the city. I also recall Chimaroke started building multiple complexes (Medical School,Hospital,Hotel,Recreation centre and Civic Center) along Rnagers Avenue using Marlum Engineering Company before EFCC swooped on him and confiscated all those iconic projects. Not forgetting Rainbownet and Cosmo FM.I just wish all the aforementioned alone at least will be completed and handed over to reputable facility management companies manage and evaluate. They are capable of elevating Enugu further.I hope the espionage of Gburugburu who peep at this thread will take this vital intel to him. It is time to run governement like a business.

this is a good model. Any light great work and revolutionizes the living environment but I think we can cover more area if we change our approach. The reason I say the 'right development' is putting them too close makes lighting a street more expensive by a margin. If you quantify that region-wide that small margin adds up and suddenly we're spending on lights what we could have spent on lights and schools or lights and roads.

. With what exist in almost all Nigerian cities including Lagos and Abuja,it is not all about the space between the lights but entirely about the quality of the bulbs. The newest public street lighting technology is tilting towards white lights as against the dull yellow ones. The yellow lights are sodium vapour lamps. They are more energy efficient but the emerging white LED lights are brighter and their illumination cover more surface area. Refer to the attached picture for instance.

Good to see Ebonyi on a frontal developmental surge. For long,they were on the backwaters of development and the butt of jokes with the negative and almost condescending profiling that goes with it. A developed and raging Ebonyi is huge leap for greater Igboland. They are easily the food basket of the east and also has the largest deposits of solid minerals by far. Everything you said would have been possible if Nnamdi Kanu listened to us for one second and allowed IPOB to be registered as a political party. He didn't have to contest for anything, but all Senators, Governors etc who win under the party must vocally demand referendum at the Senate and other political arena.

I am glad another person has seen the great potential of IPOB's full participation in the political process against the doctrine of boycott. The only thing boycott would do is that it allows an unpopular person to win because most of the potential voters stayed away. Then boycott of a Presidential election through negotiating with other regions so that at least 13 states will do it and then create a situation where nobody can be declared winner.

I hated that doctrine that we will no longer vote in Biafraland until they give us a date for referendum. Nobody will give you anything on a platter of gold, you have to smartly plot how to take what belongs to you by force. Not by refusing to participate and putting the entire SE in an electoral disadvantage because of having the smallest number of registered voters.

I know IPOB has released a long explanation stating the reason of their refusal to join Nigerian politics. I read that before and could not fault their position. Again,Nigerian politics is toxic. It pollutes everything it touches. Who would have believed that Adam Oshoimole will one day be on the side of the Oppressors of Nigerian masses! Who would have believed Femi Adesina will one day sing the praises of a killer regime? That's toxicity of Nigerian crude politics. Furthermore,have you seen what Niger-Delta agitation for better deal for their people have turned to the moment they allowed politics in it? The whole agitation has turned to a mockery and jamboree. That's the polluting power of Nigerian politics on all things hitherto pure.

What goes on within Igbo youths of today is mental revolution. Many now had to read history to understand where and why of Igbos in Nigeria.Age long negative stereotypes and naratives are being debunked.Our culture and language is being emphasised as vital in our trajectory.Even Nollywood has become "Igbonized". 5 years ago,who saw a radical like Nnamdi Kanu coming to the scene and shaking the very evil foundations of this zoo? Who would have believed that Biafra will become a trending topic and always will be? And yes,the Biafra agitation has been discussed severally in the Senate. Abaribe acted as surety for Nnamdi. Chidoka ferried him home. Just yesterday Chief Olisa Agbakoba supported IPOB's call for refrendum as the panacea for Nigeria's problem. Look deeper sir. A pattern is emerging. The long and sustained demand for better Leadership from Ohaneze and elected officials will eventually force the tide in our favour. Again,while I agree with you that a lot is yet to be in place,so much have also happened in the last few years to point to the future. One step at a time.While we extract our dues from Nigeria,an independent Igbo nation is the best bet for us.

Ndigbo do not have a single media company that even showcases us to the world. We are at best local champions. We have one of the least tourist attractions in the country. No one is coming from outside to check anything about us even archeologists!
