SmartPolician:
Something you must understand is that the civil war didn't only destroy our homes, it also divided our people.

Immediately after the war, the Igbos were abandoned by the government even though 3Rs were declared by Gowon. As a result, there was hunger in the land. And the Igbos left the east in their numbers to other parts of the country to survive. At the time, the easiest way to be accepted by the Nigerian society was to deny one's Igbo identity.

Please pay attention to the emboldened part because it still lives with most Igbos whose ancestral homes are outside the south east states to date.

So, they may resist any attempt to integrate into the bigger Igbo society. Although a few of them stand out. Just like Spyder880 said, any part that wishes to join is free. Spyder880, please create this thread asap.
@SmartPolitician. What you mentioned above including the bolded is well known to us all. Shall we then continue to cower in fear because a faulty narrative is elevated to a covert state policy viz Igbo emasculation? How then shall we encourage those brethren from these "identity crises ridden areas" if not to revert the false narratives that tend to divide us more? Emeka Esogbue and Lauretta Onochie with some other silly elements in Rivers State are the caliphate house slaves in perpetuating the error. We have a duty to change the narrative and encourage the likes of@CJrane,Utomis,Uwechues and Asagbas who have been at the forefront of pulling their people towards their kith and kins across the River. Last month,John Nwodo cleared reminded Rotimi Amechi to galvanise their Ikwere people towards the greater Igbo nation;to cease the shameful identity crises and denial and embrace the truth because the war is over and the genocidiaries have made enough sport of us. We have not only recovered,we are armed with the truth. Our generation has a mandate to restore the pride. Let the controversy and denials rage but be rest assured no power can overcome the truth. Do not underrate the reach of this platform.

I woke up with an idea this morning.

I had wanted to open a pan Igbo thread, comprising pictures and news from all Igbo speaking areas. This will be a good way to keep track of happenings in the south east and other areas. I visit most south east states and work there.

The benefits of the thread is regional cohesion, a common approach to problem solution in areas of common interest like security, industrialisation, roads and power.

The expected drawback will be the inevitable bickering that may occur if someone thinks their own areas are being misrepresented. But everyone is free to throw in news and pictures to grow the new thread.

If you support this idea of opening a pan Igbo thread, click "like"

If you are not in support, click "share"

Voting atarts now and ends on Saturday morning the 28th of April 2018. Thanks for your understanding.

Long live Igboland.
Long live the good people of the old Eastern Region.
Long live Nigeria.
Oga Spider Please proceed with this noble idea. Ensure you don't leave any part of Igboland in this project. From Ignake+Anioma to PH up to Igbo speaking parts of Benue and Kogi states. Does it not bother us that Ijaws in Ondo state are accepted as members of Ijaw Nation. Same as Yoruba's in Kogi,Kwara and Edo states accepted as full Yorbas but the narrative from mainstream political coven is that Igbos are only ensconed within the South East alone and we see our people buying into the divide and conquer trash! Time to pull down that stronghold. Old maps of Igboland and classified documents are available. Time to recapture our lands and promote the truth. Truth is the biggest casualty of One Nigeria! Tueh

@Arinzejinkonye. Which street and area in Independence Layout is this event centre located? These are real landmarks. I sincerely wish the current admin will complete the abandone conference centre and all the gigantic projects abandoned at Rangers avenue since Chimaroke left power. Enugu has the seeds of greatness in tourism and hospitality if only our dull leaders will put on their freaking thinking caps for once.

Colourful and lovely spectacle!. With the level of sophistication in these pictures, one is not in doubt about the quality of their curriculum and attention to scholarly values. The last time I was in town,i passed Dominican Sisters College located in the hinterland of Ogbu Abatete and I was mouth agape at such quality quietly tucked out from public view. To think that most of these stellar institutions are either missioned or privately owned speaks volume about our drive for excellence. Truly Anambra is the Light of the Nation!

Damming revelations all over. Ibori,Tinubu,Obong Victor Attah and now late Yar'dua. Who is the next?? As Mr Strive proceeds in unearthing these sleaze,do we have any journalist or anyone with a link to any of the leading media houses?? We should be thinking and planning of publishing these findings for Nigerians to see how their nation is governed if not,we will rant and pant and it all ends on nairaland. Time to walk the talk! Who knows, this matter may yet Kick start the long awaited revolution a.k.a Nigerian spring. Anybody with valuable link(s)?? Fear not about the cost. I am willing to commit to ensure that at least this particular matter is spread all over the major media houses in Nigeria and beyond.Time to walk the talk!!

Someone once showed me a video of Enugu-Onitsha dual carriage way from Umunya to Ugwuoba and it was a helluva an eyesore especially during this rainy season. He also showed me from 9th mile to the base of Onyeama mines and it was riddled with innumerable pot holes and contours. More like driving in amazon forest because the bumps and holes keeping jabing at ur vehicle! It is inconceivable that such an important region suffers such neglect. Let me remind us all that I was still a student in UNN in 2006 when that road was awarded and work began on it from Abakpa junction. That we are still talking of same road almost 10 years later, in worse state is massive indictment on a lot of stake holders who interestingly are our brothers. The Kano-Maiduguri expressway which is 20 times longer was completed under 4 years and so was the Dute-Bauchi expressway to mention but a few. While we throw darts at the Fed govt for neglect,be reminded that our Locki may be one of our own. Those who fear that the sparse financial status of the current eastern governments may not carry the repair of the roads have a point yet as a palliative measure,it won't cost much to grade these failed portions and asphalt them if possible, at least to moderate the time wasted and preserve the life span of vehicles, especially of regular users.

@Yeske and new2020. You guys should tone it down. Only those who understand the politics of oil AND the foreign connections to it will know why Deziani is currently under fire. That also was not far from why GEJ was maligned to no end.Remember that Obasnajo was the Minister of Petroleum for 8 years yet no one ever dared opened NNPC books to audit and screen his regime neither is anyone asking why! Igbos wise up! If Deziani is found culpable, let her go down, but by all means let the fight against corruption be all encompassing. The whole concept of Nigeria rested on the oil resources of Niger delta.Access to it fuels the flow of either peace or war in the nation. The reforms of the last administration and the plan to revoke oil licenses of the northern/western gays and their foreign allies in February 2016 was the only reason Nigeria would have burnt down if PMB failed to win. It is such a pity that even the so called educated and enlightened ones among us(Igbos) still habitually fail to see the clear picture which has been with us since after the civil war.
This is the same reason PMB will be the Petroleum minister to ensure he facilitates the process that will establish the oil wealth where they want. Unfortunately, some people will still doubt this obvious conspiracy and will continue arguing blindly and heedlessly.Sadly, the biggest casualty in Nigeria is TRUTH!! Dalu nu!

Now we see why GSM services in Nigeria is not only the costliest and of the poorest quality you can get anywhere all because the regulatory agencies and the appropriate authorities have all been compromised! Tinubu today is the de facto President and OBJ is the chief adviser of the ruling party! Is Nigeria not a finished case with men and characters like the duo and their comprado bourgeoisie accomplices holding sway as the rulers of this nation? Shame!! Again and again,we all can attest that Nuhu Ribadu's days as EFCC chairman can be described as the golden era in contrast to the paper tiger they are today. A man as passionate, patriotic and upright as Ribadu was disgraced for daring to put Nigeria first. For the reflective minds, this exposition offers a sneak peek into the basis and reason our nation is the sorry case it is today. The future is in our hands. #peaceout#

Malawian:
all these people talking about cow business, first of all, you need to be in full control of your security apparati in your domain before you begin to dream of such. cow business is a fulani means of survival, i do not think they are interested in doing competition with anybody in that aspect. considering how those guys move about with AK47, how long before they steal into your farm and spray groundnut on all of your cows? then there is the pletoria of cow deseases we know next to nothing about e.g foot and moutyh, mad cow, etc. inshort, we know next to nothing about rearing cows. we may yet be able to do the business aspect of it but we will still need to employ the fulani to rear the cows in our proposed farms at least, until we are up to speed.

i have also learnt that the fulani can speak "cow language" and the cow will understand them.
what do you suppose is going on in the picture below?
Good thinking. But as much as you itemized the pitfalls, you also discreetly gave the solutions. Learning the etymology and treatment of foot and mouth disease and other cattle maladies is no rocket science. An incisive study will give our people the solution over time. You noted the Fulani herdsmen mastery of the physiology and anatomy of cattle which made them experts and i dare say once again that also is not rocket science.Any man with a passion for farming and gives half a mind to those issues will prevail. In worst case scenario,we shall employ the Fulani nomads to rear and manage the pasture and forage in an enclosure until the business attain stability. Recall that Argentina,Texas,Newzealand,Missouri and Cape Coast have some of the largest ranches managed by educated and informed fellas. Using the rag tag Fulani herdsmen as a benchmark is an assault on civilization. Yes,We Can!!

My own case here are two major important submissions!!!!

Number one ... I want to urge every igbo business man to consider building fourth estate!! I have been hammering on this for soooo long... since 2011!!!!!!
we have a lot to showcase on the media to the world!! and we also have capable young men and women... that can do these jobs. I was so bitter when I saw psquare's mansion in atlanta! I was bitter not because I'm a hater but, they could have used the money on something better than the mansion, I remember them complaining of Sound city not playing their songs, I said to myself, if psquare is visionary, they could have invested in entertainment media and build a dynasty, that will forever remain a legacy... They have the financial muscle to be more influential than sound city, hiptv etc, but they are not even looking at that... most of the musicians from enugu to lagos are not seeing the opportunity to replicate what they see in lagos in enugu.. this would have helped the local artists in standing out, earning a living with out going to lagos...

Also lagos ibadan media gang, do not see our region as part of nigeria, their reportage and portrayal of our region seem to be We (nigeria) against them (us, alaigbo). They report only bad or gory activities of our region. For instance, the nation or punch, can only have a headline from southeast when it involves a crime,I remember one Emmanuel obe of The nation, the only thing he reports from SE is always crime, Nd gory activities, they continually flash these things to create a very bad image and impression on SE, I remember how this people took the okija saga, I remember how they did the otokoto, and kidnapping.. Even up till now, they still make it looks as if kidnapping still the bane why militants are in ND, while they will be saying that SW is relatively peaceful. Most of us do not know that kidnapping is so rampant in SW now, in ogun state the rate is daily, the bank robbery is very high!! Since 2007 till today, Awka has not witnessed high way robbery or bank robbery, I don't know about others, but I tell you, bank robbery is very rampant in SW now, kidnapping is thriving as I type now, but their media would rather deflect the attentions to what they feel that is important,

Can CNN be reporting a favourable news of atlanta while it portrays Newyork bad? The answer is no! CNN can not do that, because everywhere belongs to one country America! In addition to what I have listed, they use their media to shield things that benefit us igbo, and torchlight on things that are injuries to our image, I would elaborate more.. etc...

Number 2... There is something I want to tell people like cc Afam4eva, abagworo, ezeagu etc
umunnem, nation hood building isn't being sincere to your own detriment! look at it this way, have you ever seen hausa man, coming out to the public domain to castigate their people in the name of being honest? have you ever seen a German coming out to castigate Hitler and their people in the name of being sincere? infact mention one tribe where people publicly come out and condemn their people on the pages of newspapers or national tv in the name criticism? How many times have you seen a fulani man come out and condemn their people's atrocities?? The only people that play this holierthanthou are Ndigbo

let me tell you, nation building is a selfish adventure! that's what america is doing. they protect their country and their culture only! They careless about yours, I want every sensible igbo man to stop castigating our people no matter what!! It doesn't apply to our leaders like T.A orji!!! No never, we must shred them into pieces, but do not insult the igbo nation in the name of criticism. It will never make you a saint among the " devilish " people you rightly belong to.. phrases like "I like you because you because you do not behave like your people " is deceitful , it's just like saying that I like you but I hate your family!
Think about Isreal, Germany, Japan, Russia etc, do they castigate their people to impress America?
I was watching burkinafaso unrest, I saw youths chanting freedom freedom freedom! One said they are ready to die for their country! Menn I was moved, I became emotional, because, I know that I can never say the same thing for nigeria! Can any of you here die for nigeria? I need a country where I will feel among, that belongs to me,and I can die for in all sense, I'm from anambra state, I love that state like kilode!! I can do anything for the state, but not for nigeria.. I do not have anywhere in my heart where nigeria is situated, it has never been, it will never be! Since 2008...
So I want you all to have a rethink, our problem is mostly in our mindset! We believe that one must travel to make it, we have believed that Abuja and lagos are the place to be, for someone to make it..
But a critical look at this is not true... we must protect our future and our nation....
I forgot to note on the third view! I totally concur with you when you said that "Nation building is a selfish venture"! Absolutely correct! If only people know the depth of crimes that take place in New York daily and the corruption in the White House!!! Yet these inanities are either under-reported and retained only in the local media even as the government continues to invest heavily in security. South Africa is the rape capital of the world yet that hardly make headline news instead what you will see is their sensational appellation "Rainbow Nation" to further exhibit their beauty and diversity. No one will tell you that behind the glittering streets of Sandton and Cape Town are some of the worst cases of segregation and oppression known to man. The German government is still embarrassed by the Holocaust hence will never publicly discuss it even as they pay reparation to Israel until tomorrow. Much of the fresh water that sustain Israeli families is extracted from Golan Heights which is Palestinian territory which Israel can never relinquish no matter what but it was hardly mentioned in the negotiations. The list goes on and on.I will forever speak against evil but will always be guided by the circumstances as depicted above.

Your points are well noted. It was recently that i noted the obvious bias in media coverage of the various parts of Nigeria. Have you ever imagined what the coverage will be like if a madly inventive and industrial colossus like Aba,a thriving hotbed of entrepreneurship and commercial hub like Anambra and the endless sprawl of mansions and real estate that dot all the Igbo cities-from Asaba to Umuahia are all located in either Yorubaland or up north? I tell you what? The kind of propaganda and media coverage it will receive, you will think they God just replanted another garden of Eden! Nairaland is an eye opener because through threads like this, the Enugu and Imo threads also, the beauty and intimidating potentials of Igboland were laid bare. I still have a couple of my Idoma friends who view the houses and living conditions of those living in the east via these threads and they are still awestruck as i type this. The indegenization decree which saw the Yoruba elites and their jihadists counterparts took over the critical sectors of this nation gave them a historical opportunity to corner the media(also) which is the biggest selling point in their unbridled quest to deception and hypocrisy,of course facilitated by a docile and intellectually challenged mob.
Igbos have the informal sector of Nigeria in their grip but the role of a vibrant media in tribal advancement in a mafia country like Nigeria cannot be over-emphasized. I trust my people and know that the moment we focus our radar on that sector,it is good as given. The time is now! It took Tinubu's media clout and the financial muscle of the northern oligarchs to foist an artifact like PMB on modern Nigeria.Sadly, the results are already pinching on both the supporters and opposition! #sad#
On your second point.Part of my pride as an Igbo man is our penchant to openly abhor and speak out against evil and any form of act that impede progress. We also do not spare the villains among us (T.A Orji,Rochas,Mbadiniju,Joe Igbokwe and most recently Ngige and Chimaroke come to mind).
The attitude of some of our brethren who castigate and cast negative aspersion on the entire Igbo race are all fallout of the long years of media profiling and stereotyping perpetuated by the same Lagos Ibadan media mafia which even preceded the civil war but took a new dimension of demonization since after the war. The usual wishy washy cliches such as "Igbos are not united',Igbos are avaricious",Igbos don't love themselves",Igbos are not politically shrewd" etc are all profiling championed all the while which has not only been implanted into many consciousness but has seem assumed the character of truth and reality. Only very savvy Igbos debunk and trash them out with counter facts.Sadly, some of our elites and highly educated brethren are afflicted with this bug as seen on this thread and other media forums. Don't stop the gospel.Time to think, dream, talk and develop home has come. Good morning!

centje:
A lot of times, you write like a kid, it's either you're truely mischievous as people say or you have limited knowledge of the discourse.

Was Biafra soley an Igbo Agenda?? Was the present south east the only area in Biafra? That igbos were the major tribe doesn't dismiss the fact that many other tribes believed and fought for liberation, under the name Biafra. If Biafra had succeeded, would all these attack on igbo be founded? Media and successive governments made the struggle an igbo thing, and naturally, people dissociate from failure. If it was soley an igbo thing and other constituent tribes/regions of Biafra didn't join the secession, why then was Rivers State (including the present Bayelsa State), Cross River State, Delta State etc bombarded by Nigerian troops? Why was the surrender broadcast done by Effiong?

I have lived in Bayelsa State, a good number of them believe in Biafra, and call themselves Biafrans. Just like Buddamonk posted, if Nigeria breaks, new countries and new alliance emerges. Just let any region cause a crack by breaking away and watch how the rest of the country will shatter.

The only thing that can keep this country one is to stop marginalisation of constituent regions, let there be a fair play. Anything outside this is a fuel that keeps the agitation burning.

I don't have problem being a Nigerian, I don't also have problem relating to people of other part of the country, i have relations from every part of Nigeria, i like Nigeria, but I can't fully be patriotic to a sovereignty that treats me like a refugee. The worst federal roads are in the east including Cross River area, how do you aspect me not to be pro-biafra. I will support Nigeria, but if given a chance to choose or vote, I won't give a second thought to choose Biafra, if things continue the way they are in this country.

Hausas has not really 'ruled' since the return of democracy, but they and the rest of Nigeria did havoc in the east under military rule, now (under Buhari) is a very good chance to pacify igbos and rest of the east and make amends for past atrocities. The last voting pattern is a glaring evidence of how igbos percieve Hausas. And even if tomorrow comes such voting pattern will repeat itself, if Hausas and rest of the country keep relegating and ploting against igbos and rest of easterners. I pray they see this opportunity before them, and play fair. If otherwise is case, and systematic under-development of east continues, then the Hausa/igbo enemity deepens and the relationship gap widdens.

A lot of people may not like what i wrote but that's the truth, the reality in Nigeria today. There's a fault in our inter tribal relationship in this country ( mostly in political realm), we should find a way to seal it rather than widening it or pretending they don't exist.
There was nothing wrong with ur submissions. Infact, you nailed it.Biafra agitation is a fall out of the state sponsored systematic exclusion and oppression of Igbos. If the current political, social and economic arrangement continue, then we all can bet that Nigeria's disintegration will happen faster than envisaged. Buhari's body language ain't helping matters, sadly. Abagworo, unfortunately, desires Igbos continue groaning in the current shuffling set up. It is well!

I have said it time and time again that all these speculations and day-time dreaming of classifying each state is a total waste of time and a lazy man's hubby. Go and develop whatever you come from and stop online apportioning of areas of specialization. For instance one cannot parade a mere civil servant's state and hope to sustain itself more especially in this era of economic melt-down in Nigeria and around the world due to oil price crash.

Every state must have a bit of everything if it wants to succeed if not it will be acquired by a more economically powerful state. Malaysia wouldn't be Palm Oil giant today if it said oh Nigeria is already leading in that area or China would not be 2nd largest economy if it relaxed and said that Japan is already 2nd largest. But China worked for it and today they have over-taken Japan economic wise and is racing very fast towards over-taking America.

Let us start building our individual states and stop online silly apportioning. This is why I am very happy for Anambra for giving them Obiano who seeing very far ahead into the future. He has taken up 4 Pillars- Oil/Gas, Industrialization, Tourism, Economic expansion etc. This is where the future lies particularly on industrialization. There room for over-take in everything. If the rest of the SE with the exception of Anambra, hopes to be self-sufficient they most move away from this same mentality some of are exhibiting all over the place. If they hope to meet up with their bills and be able to pay salaries, they must think differently aside just getting Federal allocation which is fast disappearing. I said it, it will get to a time where some of this bankrupt states will not be able to maintain common governors office talk more of paying commissioners. It will get to a time some of this weak and virile states will run their states under "mango" tree because they cannot maintain the building anymore.

Let the rest of think out-side the BOX for once.
Bros. You ended up justifying my views. We are saying the same thing except that you did not counter mine with enough details as I enumerated above. Take it easy because I can decode from the tone of your submission that u are already agitated. Take a chill pill. The Malaysia you spoke about leveraged on their palm produce in the late 60's and from there pushed their industrialization vis their current enviable level of advancement. Ditto for China,Scandinavian countries and the Asian tigers. They all leveraged on something they possess comparative advantage on to soar. It is akin to Ibeto who started with motor parts to build up his capital and clout but is today a major player in the Cement industry, hospitality and real estate. At the current state, our states are still at the subsistence level and do not have the capital base to venture into multiple areas hence the need to focus on those areas of core competence/advantage. Nwanne don't turn this discussion to another needless "toutish"polemics. We are one and divergent ideas are welcome. Impossibility only exist in the realm of the mind. God bless!

If this is to be an exam I am looking at A+ for you ..you broke it down using instances. ..how I wish our governors will see this and key into this area

Just that we have bunch of old fellas as goverall leaders
. If it is brainstorming on Igbo development,u can count on me anyway. There are other geniuses on these thread cc:Budha Monk,CJrane,Vickyjames,Bishop42 and Pazienza,Igboson1,Radoillo and urself, too all of whom you can call to contribute. The quality of ideas already discussed in the Enugu and Anambra threads are enough to launch multiple nations to prosperity.Ndewo!

Nna ikwuru ofuma and obu nna gi mulu GI...that's a good response .Igbo have grown pass clanish dick measuring.. We are here for collaboration of efforts from anioma to anambra to ikwerre and there will always be Judas amongst us and don't forget that

But the most important thing is to ensure that majority and overwhelming majority see the vision of Igbo economic empowerment that will turn us a hub

Nations are forming collaboration not collision so the best response is what you have given

What is your take on my post regarding states specializing on areas of comparative advantage
. Nwanne ur suggestions re specialization of states in areas of comparative advantage is the way to go. It is a natural course of progress which has universal validity. Even here in the United States, the various states apply same principle to flourish. Michigan is the automobile planet and they have leveraged on that optimally. California is the movie and showbiz theatre. Florida is a tourist hub anyway and Texas is a sprawling oil state with massive commercial propensity characteristic of border states. Ebonyi may never catch up with Anambra and Abia in industrial and commercial strength but they will be unrivaled if they surge into mechanized farming and food processing. Enugu already has the administrative clout and can pass for another Washinton DC for the Igbo nation with enviable collection of institutions of learning. Imo state can be our silicon valley as proposed by the someone earlier and by all means should house some of our classified security facilities strictly because it is the most centrally situated part of Igboland geographically shielded by other states. The industrial and commercial potentiality of Abia and Anambra is already of global reckon. Anioma has vast expanse of land suitable for both farming and real estate. Yet,like someone already proposed,in addition to specializing,we each state can still have a bit of everything just to create a balance .I support ur view both in theory and practise.

Nice opinion, but there's something you people seem not to understand. This thread is Anambra thread, not Southeast thread nor Ndi Igbo thread. If what you have to say is not about the developmental strides in Anambra, please check the next door. You need to learn from Frankie, he concentrates on the happenings in Anambra, he never compares Anambra with other SE states. You all are accusing Chino of derailing this thread but I think you people are the ones derailing the thread by turning it into Southeast thread or Ndi Igbo thread. I, Frankie and Chino will make sure that doesn't happen. Every Igbo man and woman is my brother and sister, I love the unity of Southeast but I owe my first allegiance to my beloved Anambra state. E kenekwaa m unu.
I dont know where you ve been to but such clannish disposition as yours is not needed here. Just a candid reminder:Are you aware that it was the high depth of intellectual discussions at the Enugu thread that necessitated calls for this thread by well meaning blue-blooded Igbo sons and daughters in a bid to diversify and share the success story our states are gradually becoming? Be well guided. In discussing "Igbocentric" ideas, the shades as they apply to Anambra,Enugu etc are unravelled and promoted. Igbos need unity and reawakening now more than ever before. Notable forumites re Pazienza,Budhha Monk,Tonychristopher,FKC,Igboson1,CJrane,Bishop42,etc are all igbo centric as much as they also work for the advancement of their various states. Are the so called states not even a tool for destabilization promoted by the hegemonists for sinister purposes especially as it concern Igbos?
Either way,God bless Anambra state+Ndigbo dum!

This is, undoubtedly one of the best neighbourhood in Nigeria. Imagine the street roads. Enugu is coming up mightily in the scheme of things.
Mark that road and the adjoining streets, fix fanciful street lights and plant ornamental trees along the streets, let each building maintain a well manicured lawn and we shall have Beverly Hills right in Enugu!!! .Iam absolutely sure all those buildings will be completed before the next 3 Xmas seasons.Enugu is indeed the place. Spyder please take a trip to that thread i mentioned earlier, flood it with these pics and nail all arguments for good! God bless u my brother!

I must confess i may lose my way if i get back back to Enugu given the rate of transformation you showcased on this thread thus far. Please anyone who is close to either Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi or any of the excos should tell them to hasten up.The picture showing a failed portion of a road above is an eyesore and must not be allowed to fester. We must endeavor to do things differently in Nigeria re maintenance and aesthetics driven. I don't think Abapka and Emene are part of Enugu. They are in the same category with Nsukka urban, Agbani urban, Udi urban etc

I suggested this before, and I think it's a system in US, where certain projects goes on independent of who is government. The leader at every point in time just have to follow the blueprints of such selected projects. For instance, road projects in entire Enugu state can be planned with blueprint available for say the next 20-50years. Governors within this period just have to carry out the road projects as planned, and the fund for the projects are deducted monthly just as the state is getting its revenues. Each completed rural/local goverment road is handed over to the local govt for maintainance. And every local government in Enugu is empowered financially and with equipment to maintain the roads. This same model can be replicated in certain aspects other ministries. That way, local governments are made more responsible in providing basic amenities, and attention paid to details, rather than having all the work on the governor. With this, the Governor takes a supervisory position on certain small projects and concentrate more on policies, and big projects or advanced amenities for the state. Also with this model, state revenues and rural development are evenly distributed especially based on economic power or potential of towns, with zero tolerance for clannishness.
Nice ideas and very feasible in realms where you have folks who are more driven by posterity and not transient gains. And that lead me to ask you,do we really have the caliber of leaders driven with enough discipline, foresight and patriotic values to adhere strictly to such medium term expenditure framework/rolling plans, taking into consideration the efforts of the predecessors and making adjustments as demanded by prevailing realities? While,we have a large pool of focused and sincere youths like most of the fellas who sustained this thread with their impeccable ideas,Nigerian ruling class is unfortunately pedestrian and not driven by nobility, rather primitive accumulation of capital! If not,why is it that any time there is a regime change(Sullivan to Gburugburu for instance),we all will gasp for breath in apprehension, hoping that the incoming regime will sustain the good programmes of their predecessors? You already know why! Well,i believe in Nigeria if it will be restructured.I also believe in Biafra because we will be forced to fix ourselves at least to avert the shameful sneers of our enemies who will wish otherwise. Keep enlightening us sir! I admire your analysis.
