Guys, as much as I like Russia, I have to admit that this guy is right. Russians are extremely fragile, just scream zelensky and two russian soldiers would drop dead.
Also the accurate number of russian losses is actually 9 billion soldiers.

😢

Please let everybody know, Russia lost 9 billion soldiers. Say it when you are debating.

Zelensky is so unwise.
Any negotiations will be based on the reality on ground and cities that fell will be part of Russia forever.

He shouldn’t have agreed to discard the agreement after Putin told troops to pull out of Kiev (after Istanbul talk in March 2022 immediately after the breakout of the War).

It is what it is. His name will go down as the worst Ukrainian President.

89green:

From the onset, it was very unwise for Ukraine to go to war with Russia, Ukraine thought they would defeat Russia with the help of UK US through ammunition supplies.... When it comes to war, you don't trust those two, na business them dey do and they knew that parts of Ukraine will fall into ruins.

Where will Zelenskyy start from regarding rebuilding Ukraine.

Foreign Affairs / Ukraine Troops Withdraw From Front-line City Of Avdiivka, Army Chief Says by hardewalleh(m): 12:58pm On Feb 17
Ukrainian troops have withdrawn from the front-line city of Avdiivka, the new army chief announced, after months of heavy fighting and little progress in repelling Russian forces in the country’s eastern front.

“I decided to withdraw our units from the city and move to defence from more favourable lines in order to avoid encirclement and preserve the lives and health of servicemen,” Oleksandr Syrskii said on Saturday, days after taking the helm of the Ukrainian military in a major shake-up.

The battle for the industrial hub, less than 10km (six miles) north of the Russian-controlled city of Donetsk, has been one of the bloodiest of the two-year war. Many compare it with the battle for Bakhmut, in which tens of thousands of soldiers were killed.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Saturday that pulling out troops “was a professional decision that will save many Ukrainian lives”.

“Our actions are limited only by the sufficiency and length of range of our strength,” he added, pointing to the situation in Avdiivka.

Russia has been trying to capture the city since October and has surrounded it on three sides, leaving limited resupply routes for Ukrainian forces.

Avdiivka had about 34,000 inhabitants before the Russian invasion. Most of the city has been since destroyed but an estimated 1,000 residents remain, according to local authorities. Videos on social media showed a town left in rubble.

“In a situation where the enemy is advancing over the corpses of their own soldiers with a 10-to-one shelling advantage, under constant bombardment, this is the only right decision,” said Oleksandr Tarnavsky, the army’s commander of the Avdiivka area.

Before issuing orders to pull out of Avdiivka, Tarnavsky on Friday said several Ukrainian soldiers had been captured by Russian forces.

The city has important symbolic value and Moscow hopes its capture will make Ukraine’s bombing of Donetsk more difficult. The withdrawal comes ahead of Russian presidential elections scheduled for March in which incumbent Vladimir Putin is set to win a fifth term, allowing him to continue leading the invasion of Ukraine.

Avdiivka lies in the Donetsk region of Ukraine, which the Kremlin has claimed to be part of Russia since a 2022 annexation that remains unrecognised by nearly all United Nations members.

At the Munich Security Conference on Saturday, Zelenskyy pushed for countries to give Ukraine longer-range weapons and more air defence systems.

“Unfortunately keeping Ukraine in the artificial deficit of weapons, particularly in deficit of artillery and long-range capabilities, allows Putin to adapt to the current intensity of the war,” Zelenskyy said in Germany. “The self-weakening of democracy over time undermines our joint results.”

He also promised “to surprise Russia” later this year with new drone systems and electronic warfare.

Zelenskyy on Friday signed security pacts with France and Germany to lock in support for Kyiv. He is also expected to make further pleas for financing and armaments at the Munich Security Conference on Saturday.

All 27 European Union countries this month agreed on an additional 50-billion-euro ($54bn) aid package for Ukraine.

United States President Joe Biden said on Thursday that Avdiivka risked falling to Russian forces because of ammunition shortages following months of Republican congressional opposition to a new US military aid package for Kyiv.

Foreign Affairs / Ukrainian Forces Begins Partial Withdrawal From Avdiivka, Donetsk Oblast by hardewalleh(m): 9:03am On Feb 16
Ukrainian forces have begun a partial withdrawal from Avdiivka, Donetsk Oblast, suggesting that a full retreat from the beleaguered city would come afterwards, The Washington Post reported on Feb. 15.

According to Ukrainian military sources cited by the journalists, a complete departure from the city is just a matter of time. Avdiivka coke chemical plant is likely to become the Ukrainian forces' last stronghold in the city.

An unnamed Ukrainian military service member notes that Russian troops are attempting to bypass and encircle the coke plant, meaning that Ukrainian forces "will be forced to retreat."

The situation in Avdiivka poses a critical test for Ukraine's new Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi. He will need to decide when it’s time to abandon the city.
The capture of Avdiivka would represent the most significant victory for Russia in recent months, as Ukraine struggles with ammunition and personnel shortages.

Earlier on Feb. 15, soldiers of the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade confirmed that they had been urgently relocated to the Avdiivka to reinforce Ukrainian troops there. Deputy brigade commander, Maksym Zhorin, explained that the fighting in Avdiivka is far more complex compared to the battle for Bakhmut in late 2022 and early 2023.

Located just 15 miles outside the occupied regional capital of Donetsk, Avdiivka has more strategic value for Russia than Bakhmut. Pushing Ukrainians back from Donetsk city and its residential areas, which Russian President Vladimir Putin claims Ukrainian forces shell regularly, could boost the spirits of Moscow’s forces as the grinding war nears its two-year mark.

Nairaland / General / Protest At Total Egina FPSO Project Site Over Maltreatment Of Nigerian Workers by hardewalleh(m): 8:10pm On Feb 17, 2018
Nigerian workers and contract staff of Samsung Heavy Industries Mega Construction and Integration Free Zone Enterprise, Nigeria (SHI-MCI FZE) have downed tools at the Total Egina FPSO project, which they are currently working on, over an alleged ill-treatment and little or no welfare packages they get from their Korean employers.
Some of the workers, according to report gathered, have been working on the site since the Total Egina FPSO project kicked off in 2014.
The Egina FPSO (Floating Production, Storage, and Offloading Unit) project is ranked one of the biggest FPSO project in the world with an estimated storage capacity of over 2.3million barrels of crude oil and a daily production capacity of over 200 thousand barrel of crude.
According to a worker who preferred to remain anonymous for security reasons said it is quite unfortunate how they, Nigerian workers are being victimized and maltreated by foreigners in their own country.
Such issue could be overlooked if a Nigerian is ill-treated abroad, but not in Nigeria, he said.
He further called on Nigerian authorities to see to the matter of the injustice done to us (Nigerian workers), as foreigners in Nigeria are oppressing them, while no one is doing anything about it.
A worker who also refused to be named quoted the contract signed with the Nigerian Local Content Law that the ratio of workers ought to be 10 Nigerians to two Koreans, but in SHI-MCI nothing of such, as the ratio of Nigerians to Koreans are almost the same. Due to this, some Koreans are hidden in a container to reduce their number anytime dignitaries like ministers or senators visit the site, so that the visitors don’t know the Koreans flooded the yard.
According to the protesting workers, what led to the recent protest is that the present Koreans who head the company for the project refused to give workers who have worked on the project payoff before they are discharged, which is the normal practice in projects. This is not the case with any of the Korean workers in the same project, as they are said to be well paid and also enjoy other benefits, which the Nigerian workers are denied.
It was also alleged that the Koreans at the Production and management level head all the department/disciplines as the Nigerian workers are usually reminded by the Koreans that they (Koreans) come first before Nigerians.
However, all Nigerians, including graduates, masters holders, and skilled workers are rated below the least Korean, irrespective of their skills or qualification, who are in most cases barely educated and cannot communicate in English, the official language for the project. The Nigerians are said to carry out all the hard labours and the Koreans are meant to give instructions that the workers are expected to follow even if it means carrying out the task that could harm them.
One of the workers said that they were instructed to refer to the Koreans as master.
The protesting workers also highlighted other reasons for their grievances, including the salary and entitlements, which they said the margin between the Nigerians’ and Koreans’ is incomparable. The workers are paid meager, despite the risk of going to work via boat, as the work site is located Ladol Free Zone an island in the middle of the sea. The Koreans receive milestone bonuses and the Nigerians that do the hard labour don’t.
The Koreans are reportedly chauffeured from their accommodation to the work base and with meals three times daily. They are also paid monthly stipend and entitled to airtime for their phones, aside their monthly salary, the Nigerians are left to find their ways to the jetty point regardless of where they are coming from and are expected to be in the work yard on or before 7:30 am in other to attend toolbox talk, as late coming attracts query (warning letter) and subsequently dismissal.
There are also no welfare packages for the Nigerian staff at the Samsung Heavy Industries. The Koreans maltreat and abuse the Nigerians physically, which when any of the Nigerian staff attempt to speak against could lead to a sack.
The Koreans have their separate canteen from the Nigerians, where all they need are made available for them, while the Nigerian’s are served in an unhealthy manner. And because of the poor hygiene and the poor quality of food, a lot of Nigerians don’t bother to go for lunch. The boat situation is such that the Nigerians struggle to leave the work site early after work because of the unavailability of a boat. Some of the Nigerians even stay at the jetty till 7 pm after the close of work waiting for a boat to take them out of the base and finally get home as late as 10 pm because of traffic situation whereas the Koreans are already well rested in their accommodation and dinner already awaiting them. And most of the Nigerians are up again by 4 am the next day to continue the daily routine.
One of the staff said that “I understand that this is the price to pay for having a job, but my grievances are why don’t the Koreans even want to make little efforts to alleviate the suffering of their Nigerian staff. They can afford to get staff buses to different locations for the Nigerians like they do for the Koreans and like other companies do, but they don’t even care.
“The same company gives 6months maternity leave to their female workers in Korea but here in Nigeria you are entitled to only 3 months maternity leave and after that, you are not expected to go for any kind of leave, whether annual or sick leave,” a female staff said.
A female staff whose job is majorly in the office talked on the payoff, saying that, “Normal practice in the same sector is that at the end of the project there should be payoff for all the staff and one will think that a project of this magnitude the payoff is going to be mind-blowing, but unfortunately, the Nigerians are not entitled to payoffs while the Koreans are.
“All these and more inhumane treatment melted on the Nigerians have caused them to cry out today in a peaceful protest at the work site,” she said.
The workers hence called on the Koreans and all the Nigerians representative and those in authority, including The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC to look into all the issues, so as to see to the end of maltreatment melted on the Nigerian workers, especially in foreign-owned companies.
Attempt to speak with Ikechkwu Ugbaja, the Human Resource Manager of the company, proved abortive as he refused to talk with the press, saying, “this was not the best time to talk, I am in a meeting at the moment”. His number was not reachable at the second attempt after two hours.

Nairaland / General / Fani Kayode Is Shooting A Movie Title The Cry Of The Almajiri (part 1) by hardewalleh(m): 9:19pm On Jun 29, 2017
On June 27th 2017 in Daura, Katsina State one Tanko Abdullahi and one Mohammed Shehu, after a meeting of the Arewa Youth Council, issued the following statement. They said,
“We are very much aware that all the attacks against President Muhammadu Buhari were planted in the media by the Yoruba and spread by southerners generally just to discredit the north in order to pave way for their son, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo to become President.
But their plans will fail insha Allah. We shall resist every of such plans and ensure by all means possible, that the north completes its eight-year tenure and possibly even continue after then, and that the federal structure of Nigeria as it currently is, is not tampered with by secession mongers and their collaborators.
