Read everything here.. What began as an ordinary primary election for the All Progressives Congress (APC) has degenerated into a party crisis of unbelievable proportions. A Chieftain of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu shocked the general public on Sunday night with the release of a scathing communique calling for the resignation of the party’s National Chairman, John Oyegun. Here are four things you should know about the contentious primaries; The Primary election was held on September 3, 2016, and recorded 24 candidates contesting to be the APC flagbearer in Ondo state There had been several reports on an attempt by Asiwaju Tinubu to impose his preferred candidate, Mr. Abraham Olusegun on the party The other candidate who was seen as likely to win was Rotimi Akeredolu, who was the ACN governorship flag bearer for the state in 2012 Rotimi Akeredolu defeated Olusegun Abraham by 669 votes as a total of 2,740 delegates were accredited for the exercise Many of the contestants rejected the results of the primaries after claiming that a number of ‘fake delegates’ had voted at the elections The Ondo State APC Governorship Primary Election Appeal Committee also supported the claims of some of the contestants, recommending that fresh elections be held The Party’s National Working Committee rejected the recommendation of the Appeal Committee and claimed it was ‘fundamentally and fatally flawed’ |

Recent government activities had hinged towards the recouping the nation’s commonwealth stolen by past and present ‘rulers’ of Nigeria. News of several arrest, bail, voluntary refunds, freezed assets and accounts, other financials abnormalities had filtered our media circle for the past 18 months. According to government, looted funds running into billions of Naira had been recovered via the ongoing anti-corruption war. Despite these fight against corruption, government should be aware that this war shouldn’t be about financial corruption alone. It must be an all inclusive war. A war that cut across all spheres of life. A war against “looters of brains”. We must all realize that the looters did not only steal our money, they stole the brains of young Nigeria. They looted the intellectual capability of future leaders’ thinking towards morality. They looted the mental capability to think our way out of the economic pit that we find ourselves. Just like out looted fund were laundered abroad or deployed to buy choicest properties in Nigerian most expensive cities, the youthful brains are looted abroad in form of brain drain while the rest are used by these same looters as political thug and internet e-warriors during and after elections. We now live in a society where the right things are not acceptable and the wrong decisions are always seen as normal and ultimately applauded. Our society is now one where passengers persuade unwilling bus driver to quickly pay his “roadside due” to the gun tottering police officer in order not to be delayed. It is now normal for you to pay civil servants ‘something’ or ‘administrative charges’ as used by some in order to make them perform the job they are employed and paid to do! Priest now organized special thanksgiving for released looter on bail to the admiration of the entire congregation. Our youth celebrates the same people who put them into the abysmal state they are and simply criticize those who had enough effrontery to tell the truth in order to correct society ills. While everyone is talking about a way of moving out of the economic recession, sadly, we did not realized that it was intellectual recession that really led us to where we are in the first place. Just as government is making frantic effort to bring us out of the country’s economic quagmire, they must also make deliberate effort to re-orientate our young leaders in order to make this country great. Government must make sure our exported brains come back home to contribute their quota to the development of the country. The rate of registration for NECO of Ekiti state is very low. This is probably why they led the pack. For instance, Osun state registered more than 12000 candidates while Ekiti total candidate registered is not up to 5000. |

LogoDWhiz: Are you part of them? Which kind multiple screening? Have they brought out a list of successful candidates earlier? Please let us be informed. All I know is that it was the same set of people that paid the first 5600 that is mandated to pay the second 3100. I did the registration online myself. The second fee was payment to check screening date. |

A cross-section of parents whose children and wards are seeking admission into the Ekiti State University, (EKSU), Ado Ekiti have sent passionate appeal to the institution’s authorities to thread softly on the issue of pre-admission screenings and payments. Some of the concerned parents, who spoke to reporters on Thursday in Ado Ekiti lamented the repeated screening exercises introduced by the authorities in relation to the 2016/2017 admission exercise. Those who spoke to newsmen accused the university of conducting separate screening exercises for the prospective students, with each of the screening attracting as much as N5,600, despite the ban placed on such screening by the Federal government. According to Mrs Afeniforo Emmanuel, the University, three weeks ago screened candidates who possessed the prescribed minimum UTME scores as well as met the required minimum of five credit pass, including English Language and Mathematics. According to her, “a sum of N5,600 was paid to the prescribed banks for the exercise; I thought that the next was for her ward to be offered or denied admission.” She said she was shocked to discover that having sailed through the initial screening, her child was again last week invited to another round of screening exercise and asked to pay another N5,600. Another parent, Mr Kunle Adeyemi said it took the intervention of the institution’s students’ union body to get the authorities of the university to reduce the second screening fee to N3,100, inclusive of bank charges. A disabled parent, Mrs kafayat Folaranmi called on JAMB to intervene in their plight since the warning against extortion in the name of post-UTME screening came since July. Meanwhile, going through the list, a newly admitted student is required to pay a minimum of N80,000, in addition to minimum of N50,000 acceptance fee, as against total payment of N50,000 recommended by the state government. All efforts to get the institution’s PRO, Olubumi Ajibade for a reaction to the allegations were abortive as calls put across to him were not responded to.
