Christianity EtcRe: I Was Sent Out Of The Church Just Because I Was Wearing An Earring by hashtagged(m): 12:59pm On Jun 04, 2023
Merry100:
Even though I had to follow certain doctrines when I was younger, I have come to question some of them as they cannot be proven through the Bible. I am particularly curious about where the Bible specifically forbids wearing earrings. My parents are devout Christians, and they did not even pierce my ears, let alone allow me to wear earrings. However, one day I felt like wearing an earring, so I put on a magnetic earring and went out. Later in that day, I attended a Church program a friend invited me but when I got to the Church, I was asked to remove my earring or leave.

I am not trying to shade Christianity, not all Churches treat visitors that way, I was even surprised at the way I was treated that day. I am just specifically curious about where God condemned earring in the Bible? I accept that all Churches have their own doctrines but some of these Churches still use there doctrines to rate Christians from other Churches. Is wearing earring a sin or just some Church doctrines? I can't find any verse in the Bible that condemns earring. If you know any please indicate.
You don't come to the house of God to show off earrings or dressing. You come to church to seek God's face.
It doesn't have to be biblical, if you knew why you came to church taking it off wouldn't have been a problem.

Although it's not right to turn away worshipers from God's house, but taking off the earnings would have cost you nothing. Don't take it to heart you came to serve God not man

2. According to Jesus Christ, it is only those who are already become holy — those who are no longer of the world — that can partake of the Holy Spirit - John 14 vs 15 - 26 & John 15 vs 26 - 27 & John 16 vs 4 - 16. The "another" Helper's duty is to those who are Holy and on their way to being righteous or already approved Righteous by God, this after reaching the first milestone on the path to seeking first the Kingdom of God (Holiness) and then God's righteousness. And as such, He — the Spirit of Truth— is beyond the scope of this here discussion so best to leave Him out of it. undecided

3. You refuse to accept that God sent His Son Jesus Christ only to the Lost sheep of Israel - Matthew 15 vs 22 - 24 - just as jesus Christ Himself said He was. undecided
You are going in circles without no clear point or backing by the scriptures.

Then again I have never denied Jesus Christ so don't put words in my mouth, my quotes have never done that.

If you have decide to understand the gospel by your own means and not by the guide of the spirit you would have your reward. I see no need in continuing this conversation. Have a good day

3. No, I believe only the Word of God, not the words of Moses, of which there were some recorded in the book of Exodus by the way. God is True and His Word — not the opinions and views of the men used by Him — is Truth, and as Jesus Christ Himself informed you, He is that Truth of God, the very Word out of God's own mouth. So, He is the measure by which you are meant to validate any and every claim made by men of and about God. undecided
Grieving one led by the spirit of God is grieving the holy spirit. Saying the teachings of Paul are cursed is same as saying that the spirit of God leading him is cursed. Don't do that if the spirit of God leaves you you are lost

■ God cursed and scattered His people to all the winds as a result of their sins - Deuteronomy 30 vs 1 - 6 - and a result there are those of Israel roots to be found in pretty much every tribe, every tongue and every nation of this earth, living and breeding with gentiles hence themselves Gentiles.
■ God sent Jesus Christ to gather back to His mountain at His time all those of Israel who He had scattered to the winds as He said He would- Isaiah 66 vs 18 - 25 - and Jesus Christ made this known when He declared that He came only for the lost sheep of israel(not just the Jewish tribes of Israel).
■ At that time, Peter, a Jew, harbored the idea that God cared only for the Jewish nation and not for the non-Jewish aspects of Israel that God had previously cursed and scattered among the Gentiles.
■ Cornelius was regarded as a just man — the only standard of righteousness at the time he could have been justified by was God's Old Law of Moses which, again, binds only those who are of the blood of Jacob.
■ Cornelius's charity to the poor was said to have been, by the angel, recognized by God — again the standard that his giving would have been accorded such recognization was the standard set by God in His Old Law, which, again, is binding to only those who are of the blood of Jacob - Ezekiel 18 vs 1 - 32 & Ezekiel 33 vs 9 - 20.
■ Recall, from the Gospels, that the Holy Spirit aka the Spirit of Truth is subject only to Jesus Christ. What this means is that the Spirit of Truth only reveals to the followers of Jesus Christ that which pertains to Jesus Christ and the Kingdom of God — John 14 vs 25 - 27 & John 15 vs 26 - 27 & John 16 vs 4 - 15. As such since He, the Spirit of Truth was the guide who sent Peter to Cornelius, this means that Cornelius was definitely not a dog — a non-Israelite — but instead of Israelite roots since Peter gave that which is Holy to him, Cornelius. Jesus Christ, in Matthew 7 vs 6, instructed His followers not to give that which are Holy to the dogs, dogs being a reference for those who are not of the House of Israel - Matthew 15 vs 20 - 26. undecided
■ Lastly, Cornelius became born-again after he was baptized by Peter— given that Jesus Christ was sent by the Father only to those who are of the blood of Jacob, Cornelius had to have been an Israelite for him to have been granted entry into the Kingdom of God. undecided
1)All this write up and you still failed to prove corlineous was not a gentile.
In fact the only thin mentioned about corlineous was that he was an Italian and a gentile.

Apart from corlineous we also have gentiles like the Ethiopian enuch who received baptism.

2) And what you write about gentiles being Jews in different places not being Israel holds no water. Because when Paul went as far as Rome, Athens and even close to Persia and all Jews there were referred to as Jews not gentiles

First question again, where exactly in scripture did Jesus say all being are equal

Secondly the apostles were specially chosen by Christ and they are on a different standing to the other 72 you mentioned, if you read the life account of Jesus very well, you'll discover that they( the 12 apostles ) were always distinctively mentioned in all that Jesus did. e.g luke. 6:13 -15
Matt. 26: 18 - 23 .matt.19: 28... and many other instances in the synoptic gospel. Also read revelations. 21:14.

And thirdly how did you arrive at the conclusion that the apostles abandoned all that Jesus Christ had thought them

In all their writings they acknowledged the authority of Christ. First corinthians.1: 10-15. First peter.1:1-2
And many others I know, but cannot quote now

And your third assertion that they ignored the new covenant is also questionable

The primary reasons why the the apostles in the suffered persecution was because of their unwillingness to drop the message of Jesus... They died like their master Christ, a faith Jesus told them that they'll suffer acts.4:13- 20. Acts 5: 25 - 41. Paul said same thing in second corinthians. 11: 23-30

These men were killed cause of Christ I tell you they'd have stopped preaching if they were motivated by earthly gains..
The Bible shows us facts that God loves his children which are both men and women end of story

1. So you do agree with Jesus Christ then that a mere confession does not get you saved but rather you have to be born-again in order to be saved --- the only way--- from the condemnation of sin aka Death? undecided

2. According to Jesus Christ, the Passover lamb Himself, His blood is meant to render True Life to those who drink it - John 6 vs 35 - 57. Jesus Christ didn't however state that you cannot be born-again without first drinking His blood though. Redemption from sin itself is separate from salvation from the curse of sin aka Death. undecided

3. So you believe that when Jesus Christ said, "Be ye Holy even as my Father in Heaven is Holy," you believe Jesus Christ meant to see the Kingdom in Word and spirit and presence? Jesus Christ's expectation of obedience is moot? undecided

Do you have proof that you are born-again by the way? Jesus said all those who are born-again receive proof of this haven taken place. What proof were you given? undecided
1 & 2) Being born again covers everything we have been talking about. Baptism by water which is the imersion and baptism by the spirit through our faith in Jesus. Our faith in Jesus is believing we are saved by his sacrifice on the cross. Read the book of acts everyone whom converted believed they were saved by Jesus Christ and got baptised

Hebrews 9:22, informs, “almost everything is purified with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins

3) The lord said be ye holy as the heavenly father is holy
Where are we going to get that holiness or perfection, it is impossible with man? We don’t have it now, yet we can’t get to heaven if we don’t have it. That is why Christ died on the cross; He shed His blood and rose again to provide righteousness for us.

Another word is iniquity, which means to turn aside from the straight path. Isaiah said, “All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned, every one, to his own way; And the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all” Isaiah 53:6

not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit” Titus 3:5

But Isaiah even said that in the sight of God “all our righteousnesses are like filthy rags” Isaiah 64:6

We can't ourselves be holy it is impossible with man, but with God it is possible that's why Jesus died on the cross to wash our sins so we can be holy like our father in heaven.

Is it that you deny the fact that our sins cannot be saved by the blood of Jesus?

Peters trance in the book of acts, what so ever the lord has sanctified is clean thus even the gentiles can become children of God If they believe. This corlineous who was an Italian and his house hold were worthy of being called children of God and he poured his spirit upon them.

1. I am afraid Aribasala is guilty of dumping his ignorance on Paul, yet again! For some odd reason, Aribasala does not respect contextual integrity when reading through Paul's letter, the very same mistake those who worship the man Paul equally make. undecided

In Romans 3 vs 10 - 18 Paul quotes from various parts of scripture in his attempt to explain to his brethren that they were in fact the wicked and evil generation to the destroyed by God. Yes, at that point in time, God's plan was to destroy the rest of Israel — the Nation of Judah aka the Jews— and that plan was heralded by the coming of Jesus Christ. Below, we see that what Paul wrote in that passage was of the evil people who were against God.

Romans 3 vs 10 - 12 quotes Psalm 53 where David writes about the evil people who do terrible things.
The above passage clearly says that this prophecy was said of the evil people aka the fools who convinced themselves that God does not exist. You know this from reading verse 4 where God highlights the way evil people treat His people. undecided
Romans 3 vs 13 a Paul references David's prayer against his enemies found in Psalm 5

Romans 3 vs 13 b quotes from Psalm 140 where David prays to God regarding the evil people

Romans 3 vs 15 quotes from Proverbs 1 which is a warning against evil people

Romans 3 vs 16 - 17 references Isaiah's writing on the state of the evil people, whose sins separate them from God

Romans 3 vs 18 references Psalm 18 where David writes of the evil people and the workings of their minds.

As you can see, every single passage of Scripture that was quoted by Paul in that context was written in reference to people who do evil — the unrighteous. And of course, there are none righteous among the evil people for they have all sinned. After establishing his focus in the earlier verses, the evil people i.e. the unrighteous, in verses 19-20 Paul reiterates that the curse on the unrighteous cannot be removed right by the Law(of Moses) — they cannot be made righteous by following the Old Law.

In verse 21, Paul then posits that God has provided for the unrighteous(evil people) a path to redemption by which they can be made righteous and that path is the New Law(The Good News). Paul insists that God makes the unrighteous people righteous through their faith in Jesus Christ and He does so for all those who believe in Jesus Christ, verse 22. Again, Paul insists in verse 23 that all(the evil people aka unrighteous) have sinned and come short of the glory of God and can only be made righteous by following, not the old Law, but the new Law which offers the free gift of grace(Eternal Life). Paul also insists that the unrighteous are able to become righteous in God by becoming free from their sins through Jesus Christ. In verses 25-26, Paul then recapped by saying that God gave Jesus Christ a way to forgive the sins of people — the unrighteous aka sinners whom He came to call to repentance — by way of what Paul refers to as the blood sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

In all, the primary audience or focus of Paul's writing in Roman 3 were the unrighteous sinners in the land, ignoring the righteous people who equally existed at the time. As a matter of fact, at the time of Paul's writing of this epistle, the other disciples of Jesus Christ were probably righteous given they already obtained the Spirit of Truth for a companion long before this. Paul in no way meant this to say that there were absolutely no righteous individuals in the land. Rather, he focused his message on those who were listed as unrighteous and remained under God's curse from the Old Law, and yet to be set free from slavery to sin by Jesus Christ. undecided

2. To reveal that Aribasal's bias against Paul is truly what is at work here since the same Paul, in Romans 2 vs 1 - 16 revealed that righteousness was only obtainable through the doing of that which is the law — the teachings and commandments of Jesus Christ—, and not simply the hearing of the law. So far, it seems this man's case is of witch hunt and not real understanding. undecided

So, when Paul stated that he was an apostle to the Gentiles, what he meant was that he was sent, not just to his Jewish brothers in the Nation of Judah, but also to the people of Israel chased off by God to all the other nations of the earth. undecided

It's obvious you have not read the Bible thoroughly.

I now understand when the lord said they would see but would not understand because I have hardened their hearts.
Ask the holy spirit to guide you when you read the Bible so you can stop reading it carnally

I said same thing just a few hours ago. I can no longer cope with the economic realities. Everything is hard. I feel like sleeping and never wake up. Tired of Nigeria issues. Tired of my life, tired of my wife and my sick malnourished baby
I am in your situation too Nigeria is becoming unlovable, but try as much to put your mind and heart on God, this our suffering is only temporary. God's words always and must come to pass.

David since I was born and now I am getting old I have never seen the lord faileth or the righteous begging for bread.

His words would prevail even if it means getting rid of tinubu
Christianity EtcRe: Should Christian Couples Confess Adultery To Their Partners? by hashtagged(m): 7:27pm On Jun 02, 2023
cutecommend:
As a Christian who fears God, is their any need to confess Adultery to your partner? Or should someone just pray to God for forgiveness and move on? Assuming a secret child is involved, should the Adultery still be confessed or should it be sealed after prayers of forgiveness have been offered to God?
Confession to ones partner should be done after guidance from a good and mature Christian counselor.

Please contribute and advise.
A man shall leave his mother and father and together with the woman they shall become one.

Yes he/she must tell the partner because they have defiled God's promises, so they both can ask God for his mercy.

What i would give to be able to pray very well, to quote scripture passages like OP and pray for at least an hour straight minus P&W. i admire people that pray well (not for show or donation) Just in their moment with God.
Just surrender to the holy spirit he would lead you in prayers. If you try to pray by your own strength you would feel tired and bored.

Just say holy spirit lead me, help me pray, for the spirit helps us pray with groanings that cannot be uttered.
