By the end of 2017, Juventus and Barcelona will have met an astonishing six times (five UCL matches and one friendly) in the last two and a half years. That said, this remains a fixture that continues to catch the imagination of supporters and all lovers of the beautiful game, and represents an exhilarating way to kick off the new Champions League campaign. WHEN BLAUGRANA HOST BIANCONERI If Paulo Dybala’s breath-taking brace characterised the home leg of last year’s Champions League quarter-final, it was the resilience and resoluteness of the defence that ensured the Bianconeri would keep a clean sheet at the Camp Nou to ensure a comprehensive 3-0 aggregate victory. Juve’s only other UCL trip to the Camp Nou, another quarter-final second leg played back in 2003, was perhaps the most dramatic of all previous encounters against the Catalans: After drawing 1-1 in Turin, Juventus took a crucial away lead through Pavel Nedved only to be pegged back by a Xavi equaliser. Edgar Davids’ dismissal in the 79th minute left the Bianconeri with just 10 men for almost three quarters of an hour (including extra time) remaining. With 114 minutes on the clock and penalties looming, Marcelo Zalayeta stooped to head in Alessandro Birindelli’s cross to send the travelling supporters wild and the Bianconeri into the semi-finals. NEW FACES AT CAMP NOU It has been a summer of significant changes at Barcelona, not least with the arrival of new manager Ernesto Valverde from Athletic Bilbao to replace the outgoing Luis Enrique. Valverde had spent four years at the helm of the Basque club, where his highlights included leading them to a fourth-place finish and subsequent Champions League qualification in 2014. The following year, he steered Athletic to their second Supercopa trophy in the club’s history after defeating his current emplyers in the final (5-1 on aggregate). Barcelona were at the centre of football history’s biggest ever transfer in financial terms, when Brazil star Neymar joined Paris Saint-Germain for a world record fee and they have invested almost half of that money in signing France international forward Ousmane Dembélé from Borussia Dortmund. The Blaugrana have bolstered their midfield by bringing in Brazil international Paulinho from Guangzhou Evergrande. Elsewhere, Portuguese full-back Nélson Semedo has joined from Benfica, while forward Gerard Deulofeu returned to his boyhood club from Everton. PERFECT STARTS Both Juventus and Barcelona have come quickly out of the traps this season, registering nine points from a possible nine in their respective leagues. The two teams have been scoring for fun as well: Juventus had not netted 10 goals in their first three matches of a Serie A season since 1981, as they’ve swept aside Cagliari (3-0), Genoa (4-2) and Chievo (3-0) to sit top of the table. Barcelona too currently claim pole position in La Liga after seeing off Real Betis (2-0), Deportivo Alavés (2-0) and most recently Espanyol (5-0) in the derby. If only to continue the similarities between their two starts to the season, both teams’ victories have been made primarily in Argentina: Barcelona’s Lionel Messi and Juve’s Paulo Dybala have scored five goals apiece in three matches, while compatriot Gonzalo Higuain has also chipped in with two strikes of his own for the Bianconeri. Needless to say, all eyes will be on the Argentine trio in the build-up to kick-off on Tuesday night. DID YOU KNOW? [*]Juventus and Barcelona have never previously faced one another in a Champions League group stage. [*]This is Juventus’ 18th Champions League group stage campaign and a sixth in succession. [*]Juventus recorded a win (vs Sevilla) and a draw (vs Barcelona) in last season’s two trips to Spain. [*]Mario Mandzukic (Atletico Madrid), Sami Khedira (Real Madrid) and Gonzalo Higuain (Real Madrid) have all played in Spain. [*]This is Barcelona's 22nd Champions League group stage campaign and 14th in succession. [*]The Blaugrana last failed to progress to the competition’s knockout stages in 2000/01. [*]Barcelona are unbeaten in 21 matches at home in the competition, a run that started in September 2013 (W19 D2). http://www.castgist.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=24592

A very rare two-headed rattlesnake has been caught in the US, and is being donated to a nature centre. The venomous snake was found this week according to American TV station KLRT and is believed to have been captured near Forrest City in Arkansas. A Facebook post from a friend of the man who caught the snake read "It is is absolutely real! But I don't think it's a sign from God that the end times are near...". The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission (AGFC) confirmed the snake is, indeed, real. Can you spot the dangerous snake in the baby's bedroom? Not cool! Snake hanging from air conditioner devours huge rat The author of the Facebook post, Mark Young, explained that Rodney Kelso, District Two Manager at Woodruff Electric, was the one who caught the snake. Game and Fish are trying to nurse it back to health. “It’s not doing too well right now. Obviously two heads, two minds might have been thinking different things. With predators it’s easy to get to want to do two different things,” Keith Stephens with the Arkansas Game and Fish said. In 2016, a two-headed snake was found in Indiana. http://castgist.com/viewtopic.php?f=47&t=24570 Lalasticlala Mynd44

MIAMI (AP) — With the window closing fast for anyone wanting to escape, Irma hurtled toward Florida with 125 mph winds Saturday on a shifting track that took it away from Miami and instead threatened the Tampa area with its first direct hit from a major hurricane in nearly a century. "You need to leave — not tonight, not in an hour, right now," Gov. Rick Scott warned residents in the evacuation zones ahead of the storm's predicted arrival on Sunday morning. For days, the forecast had made it look as if the Miami metropolitan area of 6 million people could get hit head-on with the catastrophic and long-dreaded Big One. The swing in the hurricane's projected path overnight caught many on Florida's Gulf coast off guard. By late morning, few businesses in St. Petersburg had even put plywood or hurricane shutters on their windows, and some locals groused about the change in the forecast. "For five days, we were told it was going to be on the east coast, and then 24 hours before it hits, we're now told it's coming up the west coast," said Jeff Beerbohm, a 52-year-old entrepreneur in St. Petersburg. "As usual, the weatherman, I don't know why they're paid." Tampa has not been struck by a major hurricane since 1921, when its population was about 10,000, National Hurricane Center spokesman Dennis Feltgen said. Now the area has around 3 million people. The new course threatened everything from Tampa Bay's bustling twin cities of Tampa and St. Petersburg to Naples' mansion- and yacht-lined canals, Sun City Center's sprawling compound of modest retirement homes, and Sanibel Island's shell-filled beaches. With the new forecast, Pinellas County, home to St. Petersburg, ordered 260,000 people to leave. Irma has left more than 20 people dead in its wake across the Caribbean, ravaging such resort islands as St. Martin, St. Barts, St. Thomas, Barbuda and Antigua. Irma weakened slightly in the morning but was expected to pick up strength again before hitting the Sunshine State. Meteorologists predicted its center would blow ashore Sunday in the perilously low-lying Florida Keys, then hit southwestern Florida and move north, plowing into the Tampa Bay area. Though the center is expected to miss Miami, the metro area will still get pounded with life-threatening hurricane winds, Feltgen said. On Saturday morning, the state was already beginning to feel Irma's muscle. Nearly 25,000 people had lost power, mostly in the Miami area, as the wind began gusting. In Key West, 60-year-old Carol Walterson Stroud sought refuge in a senior center with her husband, granddaughter and dog. The streets were nearly empty, shops were boarded up and the wind started to blow. "Tonight, I'm sweating," she said. "Tonight, I'm scared to death." In one of the biggest evacuations ever ordered in the U.S., about 6.3 million people in Florida — more than one-quarter of the state's population — were warned to leave, and 540,000 were directed to clear out from the Georgia coast. Gas shortages and gridlock plagued the evacuations. Parts of interstates 75 and 95 north were bumper-to-bumper. Major tourist attractions, including Walt Disney World, Universal Studios and Sea World, all prepared to close Saturday. The Miami and Fort Lauderdale airports shut down, and those in Orlando and Tampa planned to do the same later in the day. With winds that peaked at 185 mph (300 kph), Irma was once the most powerful hurricane ever recorded in the open Atlantic. But given its mammoth size and strength and its projected course, it could still prove one of the most devastating hurricanes ever to hit Florida and inflict damage on a scale not seen here in 25 years. It could also test the Federal Emergency Management Agency's ability to handle two crises at the same time. FEMA is still dealing with aftermath of catastrophic Hurricane Harvey in the Houston area. Ray Scarborough and girlfriend Leah Etmanczyk left their home in Big Pine Key and fled north with her parents and three big dogs to stay with relatives in Orlando. Scarborough was 12 when Hurricane Andrew hit in 1992 and remembers lying on the floor in a hall as the storm nearly ripped the roof off his house. "They said this one is going to be bigger than Andrew. When they told me that, that's all I needed to hear," said Scarborough, now a 37-year-old boat captain. "That one tore everything apart." Andrew razed Miami's suburbs with winds topping 165 mph (265 kph), damaging or blowing apart over 125,000 homes. The damage in Florida totaled $26 billion, and at least 40 people died. We are but days away from the event of the Apple calendar year when the company pulls the curtain up on new iPhone models. And yet the leaks keep coming. The latest juicy tidbit is what looks to be the official names of the three models Apple is rumored to be announcing next Tuesday -- and they suggest Cupertino is skipping its usual 'S' generation convention for this release, as well as throwing in a curve ball christening for the most expensive model of the trio. The top-of-the-range iPhone, which is expected to ditch the home button to make way for more screen real-estate, replacing the fingerprint-powered Touch ID with a facial recognition alternative, has been referred to as 'D22' in a leaked iOS 11 firmware build. But according to a developer who's being sifting through the firmware the official name will be the iPhone X. Which is at least not iPhone Ferrari, as was another of its rumored codenames. While the other two iPhone models are set to be named the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, according to the leak, meaning Apple is eschewing an iterative iPhone 7s/7s Plus release -- underlining how the company wants this release to be interpreted; i.e. not at all iterative. At this point you do have to wonder whether Apple is retiring the iPhone 's' cycle for good -- something TC's Editor in Chief Matthew Panzarino was calling for back in 2015 at the time of the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus. After all, when you're asking people to shell out as much as $1,000 or more for their next smartphone -- as has been the rumored price-tag for the incoming iPhone X -- there's rather a lot of perceived value resting on a name By Natasha Lomas http://castgist.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=24569 Mynd44 lalasticlala

North Korea said it successfully conducted a test of a hydrogen bomb Sunday -- the country's sixth nuclear test. North Korea has carried out its sixth nuclear test - the most powerful blast to date - drawing the ire of the international community as the standoff with the United States continues to intensify. The official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) said the hydrogen bomb test on Sunday morning, ordered by leader Kim Jong-un, was a "perfect success". It was Pyongyang's first nuclear test since US President Donald Trump took office, and marked a direct challenge to Trump, who hours earlier talked by phone with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe about the "escalating" nuclear crisis in the region. Later on Sunday reporters asked Trump whether he would attack North Korea in response. "We'll see," replied the US president. The nuclear test at 03:30 GMT was carried out to "examine and confirm the accuracy and credibility" of North Korea's technology, KCNA said. The news agency hailed the bomb's "unprecedentedly large power", saying it "marked a very significant occasion in attaining the final goal of completing the state nuclear force". Pyongyang earlier on Sunday reported details of its latest weapon, claiming it has developed a more advanced nuclear bomb that can be loaded onto an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM). KCNA released undated photographs of Kim inspecting the weapon. The explosion created a magnitude-6.3 tremor, making it the most powerful weapon Pyongyang has ever tested. Hours before the test, North Korean state media released pictures of the country's leader, Kim Jong Un inspecting what it claimed was a nuclear warhead being placed inside a missile http://castgist.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=24538

Published September 03, 2017 Fox News Makeva Jenkins, 33, was shot and killed in late June. Joevan Joseph was arrested in connection with her murder. Makeva Jenkins, 33, was shot and killed in late June. Joevan Joseph was arrested in connection with her murder. (Facebook) A man was arrested Saturday in the death of a Florida woman who was killed in June after being shot by a masked gunman just hours after she gushed about her financial success in a Facebook post, police said. Joevan Joseph, 19, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder in the slaying of Makeva Jenkins, a 33-year-old mother and entrepreneur who died in late June after being shot in the head in her Lake Worth home. “I didn’t do it,” Joseph told reporters as detectives escorted him in handcuffs to a police car. He appeared before a judge on Sunday and was denied bond. Jenkins was very vocal about her success in the last three years of her life, going from homelessness to earning “multi six figures” hours before she died. She managed The Prime Enterprise, a business consulting company, and boasted about her achievement on her Facebook page. "Fast forward to now: We overcame being homeless in 2013/2014 to reaching my six-figure mark in 2015 to now making multi six figures," Jenkins wrote on Facebook. "No matter what the road looked like, I followed my heart and stuck with it growing my business." Jenkins ended the post by saying: “Anyone can do it. It takes determination and consistency.” The Facebook post followed previous messages about her business. Joevan Joseph was arrested on Saturday in connection with the murder of Makeva Jenkins. (PBSO) On the night of her shooting, Jenkins' three children – two girls, ages 1 and 13, and a boy, age 7 – her husband and brother were inside the home, The Palm Beach Post reported. A fight broke out between Jenkins and the masked intruder before she was shot in the head. She was rushed to the hospital where she later died. Her family initially said they feared Jenkins’ detailed Facebook posts may have made her a target that led to her death. "Everybody loved her," a relative told the newspaper in June. "I’m speechless. My heart is just so heavy. I just can’t believe it," another friend said. The Jenkins family pleaded to the public for possible clues into the mother’s murder in August before Joseph’s arrest. Police did not release a possible motive into the killing. http://castgist.com/viewtopic.php?f=37&t=24536 Lalasticlala Mynd44

Recall that Nigeria demolished Cameroon in Uyo by 4 - 0 and are going into the second leg today 4th September 2017 with high confidence.
