India successfully test-fired its nuclear-capable intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM), Agni-V, off the coast of the eastern Odisha state on Thursday morning.

The test was the new weapon’s final operational configuration, bringing it one step closer to being a deployable warhead in India's land-based ballistic missiles arsenal. With a range exceeding 3,016 miles, the long-range ICBM can reach the northern parts of China, reported CNN.

India successfully test-fired the Agni-V ICBM off the Odisha coast on Thursday January 18, 2018.

“India has successfully test fired the 5000-km range Inter-Continental Ballistic Missile Agni-V at 9:53am today. The Made in India canistered missile, having 3 stages of propulsion, was test fired from Abdul Kalam island off Odisha coast,” India’s Defense Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman, said in a tweet Thursday.

The missile, part of an Agni series, was developed by the Defense Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) of India.

The launch on Thursday marked the fifth test of the 55-foot long Agni-V since its first launch in 2012. Its last test was held in December last year.

Ajai Shukla, a former Indian army colonel, told CNN that India has been incrementally developing the “complexity of the testing process.” He also claims that all of China is within the weapon’s maximum range.

According to the Federation of American Scientists, India possesses around 130 nuclear warheads, which is a modest figure compared to the U.S. and Russia who both have several thousand each.

NDTV, an Indian news channel, also confirmed the launch and said that its success has guaranteed India’s spot in the “super-exclusive club of countries with ICBMs.”

China criticized the missile according to a report in the Global Times, a state-run newspaper, slamming India’s desire to enter the global intercontinental missile club. However, intercontinental missiles normally have a range of over 4,970 miles and the Agni-V only boasts 3,016 miles, the paper reported.

Last December, The New York Times reported that President Donald Trump often “hate-watches” CNN, “especially Don Lemon.”

If he was watching Lemon’s 10 p.m. broadcast Thursday night, the first words he heard were, “The president of the United States is racist.”

“A lot of us already knew that,” the anchor added. But it has rarely been quite as apparent than it was earlier in the afternoon when Trump, referring to immigrants from Haiti, El Salvador, and African nations, reportedly asked members of Congress, “Why are we having all these people from shithole countries come here?”

“Those comments are frankly disgusting,” Lemon said. “There’s other language I would like to use, but we are on television. But you know what? They’re not shocking. Not even really surprising, because this is who Donald Trump is. This is what he thinks.”

From there, Lemon listed off a litany of similarly racist comments that Trump has made over the course of his campaign and presidency, from saying Nigerian immigrants “should go back to their huts,” to saying Haitian immigrants “all have AIDS” to calling black NFL players “sons of bitches” for protesting police brutality to saying “both sides” were to blame for the neo-Nazi violence in Charlottesville.


“A White House official told CNN they’re not worried, this is good for them, the president’s comments will resonate with his base,” said Lemon. “Jesus. Admitting that for all their talk about making America great, the president is playing to a base that welcomes his racism and will enjoy it. That is disgraceful.”

“With that said, here’s what’s worse and probably the most important point,” Lemon continued. “This is for anyone who may be taken aback by my comments. I want to be clear here, I don’t care if you are. I hope you are.” For years, he said he and others have been telling Americans that Trump is “bigoted” and “racist,” but they continue to make excuses for his “vile behavior.”

An Australian man experienced the fright of his life recently after a venomous snake scaled his car window as he drove home from the mechanic.

Ted Ogier was traveling on the New South Wales south coast Wednesday when he spotted a black, red-bellied snake slithering alongside his car.

Ogier said the reptile had slithered from the hood of his car and wrapped itself around his side mirror, looking and apparently hissing at him.

"It'd come out from under the engine bay under the bonnet, it was probably a bit warm there," Ogier told the ABC, adding that the snake was also "tapping on the window a couple of times because it obviously wanted to get in."

Olgier said he eventually pulled over and called his coworker, Kai Pearse, who later arrived and removed the snake with a broom. His employer uploaded photos of the incident on Facebook.



"I just had a broom in the back of the ute and basically just got him off the car nice and safely, and just ushered him into the bushland off on the side of the road," Pearse told the outlet.

The two believe the reptile was measured at about eight feet long and that it probably was just looking for a warm place to set up camp.

"Last night it got a bit cold down here on the South Coast, so I think he's got up into the engine bay of the vehicle, and he sat up on the engine to keep himself warm," Olgier said.

"Then this morning Ted's taken that vehicle down to Eden and it might've got a bit too hot in there, so he wanted out."

And despite the frightening experience, Olgier contended that there were still worse critters to encounter on the road.

"Not as frightening as getting a spider on the inside — spiders are one thing I don't like, but I don't like snakes either," he said.

B-2 bombers would almost certainly take part in any attack on North Korea’s nuclear program, which would almost certainly be a part of or escalate to a larger war between Pyongyang, its neighbors and the United States. While the B-1B bomber can launch cruise missile strikes against exposed targets, the B-2 would be sent after the North Korean leadership itself. The Spirit would drop Massive Ordnance Penetrator bombs on hardened and underground North Korean command and control system, ideally disrupting its ability to issue orders to launch missiles. Spirits would also drop MOPs on any hardened leadership facilities suspected of hiding North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and any concrete-protected nuclear storage and missile launch facilities.

The B-2 Spirit is one of three strategic heavy bombers in U.S. Air Force service. Originally conceived to infiltrate the Soviet air-defense network and attack targets with nuclear weapons, over the decades its mission has grown to include conventional precision attack. The B-2 is the most advanced bomber in U.S. service, and the only one of three types that still carries nuclear gravity bombs.

In the late 1970s, the administration of President Jimmy Carter opposed the high-speed B-1A bomber as a waste of government money. Carter had been briefed on the new field of stealth technology and was responsible for the development of the F-117A stealth fighter. Instead of the B-1A, Carter authorized development of the Advanced Technology Bomber, or Stealth Bomber. Little was known about the bomber at the time except that it would incorporate new radar-evading technologies and possibly a dramatically different shape than previous bombers.

The U.S. Air Force sent out a Request for Proposal in 1980, and in October 1981 Northrop won a $7.3 billion initial contract to produce 127 Advanced Technology Bombers. Northrop was a curious pick—after all, it had not produced any bombers since World War II.

Northrop had been working on stealth since at least the mid-1960s. At a research facility in Rancho Palos Verdes, California Northrop had been working on radar-evading aircraft shapes and radar-resistant materials. The company lost the competition to build the Experimental Survivable Test Bed (XST), what would later become the stealth fighter to Lockheed, but did win the opportunity to build another stealth test bed, Tacit Blue. Tacit Blue featured 360 degree stealth, a must-have for a penetrating strategic bomber.

Femi Fani-Kayode, former Aviation Minister, on Tuesday reacted to the controversery surrounding President Muhammadu Buhari’s actual age.

Buhari had disclosed that he thought he was 74 but was told that he is 75 years old.

In his reaction, the former Minister said the president is suffering from “bouts of memory loss and dementia.”

In a tweet via his social media handle, Fani-Kayode dared Buhari to stop fooling Nigerians and indulging in “specious and perfidious lies.”

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chieftain maintained that Buhari is 80 years and neither 74 nor 75.

He wrote: “I thought I was 74 but was told I am 75”- @MBuhari.

“I know that u suffer from bouts of memory loss and dementia but please stop trying to fool us and stop indulging in specious and perfidious lies.

“U are neither 74, 75 or even 78 (as some claim).

“U are 80 years old.”

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have announced a timetable for the build-up of the Super Eagles ahead of the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

The timetable will see the Eagles play five warm-up matches before they open their Russia 2018 campaign on June 16 against Croatia.

NFF president Amaju Pinnick has informed that the team will play two friendlies in March.

It is believed that the first game in March will be against another World Cup-bound team Poland on March 23.

The Eagles will then play another friendly against another team who will feature at the World Cup four days later.

The three-time African champions are then scheduled to play another warm-up game on May 27 at the Abuja National Stadium with Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari expected to be special guest.

he Eagles, according to Pinnick, will then play two other friendlies on June 2 and June 6.

Three Lions of England will most likely be one of the teams Nigeria will face in June.

He said the June 2 game will be against another team who will be at the World Cup, while the final friendly on June 6 will be against a good team, who will not be in Russia.

The Eagles will open their Russia 2018 campaign on June 16 against Croatia.

A father has said he found his teenage son having sex in the back of a car with a teacher from his Texas school.

Police in Bay City, 80 miles south-west of Houston, have charged the teacher, Rachel Gonzales, 44, with online solicitation and having an improper relationship with the 13-year-old boy.

During the investigation, police inspected the boy’s mobile phone and found texts from Ms Gonazalez indicating the pair had an inappropriate relationship prior to the alleged incident on 14 December, police said.

At the request of the District Attorney, the Bay City Independent School District, where Ms Gonzalez is a teacher, have turned over the case to the local police.

She was taken to the Matagorda County jail on 22 December but is now out on bond.

Ms Gonzalez officially resigned from her post as a fourth-grade teacher at Cherry Elementary School on 15 December, according to the school district. It is not known whether she has yet had the opportunity to enter a plea.

On Friday, December 15, 2017, at approximately 1:34 p.m., Detectives responded to Bay City High School to meet with Bay City ISD Police. Upon arrival, Detectives were advised of a case of Improper Relationship Between Educator and Student that occurred on Thursday, December 14, 2017.

Bay City ISD PD had received information that Teacher Rachel Gonzalez, 44, Bay City, had allegedly been caught in the back seat of a vehicle with the 13-year-old victim by the child’s father. The vehicle had been parked in a parking lot located in the 5200 block of Oak Manor Blvd.

At the request of the District Attorney, Bay City ISD PD turned the case over to Bay City PD Detectives for investigation. During the investigation Detectives got a search warrant to seize and access the phone belonging to the victim. At that time, they were able to locate evidence indicating there was an improper relationship and Detectives requested warrants for the arrest of Gonzalez.

On December 22, 2017, at approximately 4:40 p.m., Officers served the warrants on Gonzalez. She was transported to the Matagorda County Jail where she was booked in on charges of On-Line Solicitation of a Minor and Improper Relationship Between Educator and Student.

Ligers are a unique and rare hybrid of jungle cats, being born only as the offspring from mating between a male lion and a female tiger.

Cross species breeding between lion and tigress pairings has only been known to happen in captivity, although it is possible that ligers may have been birthed in the wild, only the proof is not verifiable today. Ligers end up being born with genetic characteristics of lion and tigress, but grow to much bigger sizes than either of their original parents.

The average liger is 10 to 12 feet long and weighing more than both parents combined mass. These facts have created the reputation that ligers are undeniably, the largest known cat breed that is still around today. Ligers are quite varied in appearance depending on their unique individual gene pool mix.

This means that technically ligers have no scientific name, being their own subspecies and can only be classified as a genus unto themselves, but some scientists refer to their breed as panthera leo X tigris.

In the book “Animal Life and the World of Nature” written by A H Bryden in 1903, a dynamic description of living ligers is given.

According to the text, “A good big lion will weigh about 400 lbs. the hybrid in question, weighing as it does no less than 467 lbs, is certainly the superior of most well-grown lions, whether wild-bred or born in a menagerie. This animal shows faint striping and mottling, and, in its characteristics, exhibits strong traces of both its parents. It has a somewhat lion-like head, and the tail is more like that of a lion than of a tiger.

On the other hand, it has little or no trace of mane. It is a huge and very powerful beast.”

Some zoo authority agencies have argued that allowing ligers to be bred in captivity is unnatural. As if these beautiful giants of the cat world were some sort of abominations, or mutations that should be excluded from nature all together, but this is a myth.


According to www.ligerliger.com, a major animal support and information website, “Lions, leopard, jaguars, and tiger are often kept in the same enclosures by animal trainers so they can have the largestpossible space. This also gives them an enriching social life. Most of the time they will not breed. They may get along well but not reproduce unless the animals themselves decide they like each other. All big cats are stimulation ovulators.That means artificial insemination is impossible. Lions and tigers must be in love to reproduce, and it is only achieved by natural means.”

Also the arguments that ligers are unnatural is based on the assumptions that the only occurrences of such creatures is in captivity.

Although most evidence supports this theory, it isn’t verifiable scientifically. There are many opinions, but as was aptly stated in a 2005 issue of Bellwether Magazine, “All known instances of tiger–lion interbreeding have been in captivity: the two species naturally overlap only near the Gir Preserve in Bangladesh, and even then the big cats would be unlikely to mingle.”

As with all animals, ligers are unique to their environment, need to be understood and must find a way to co-exist within the world of human beings in order to survive. Only a handful have ever lived on the planet Earth. Currently only four are known to be alive today.

This maybe the only chance for human beings to be around these majestic cat giants, who are not part of evolutionary natural selection nor are they a species that is endangered, but could become extinct. Simply because their pride will never increase in numbers.

Perhaps cats like ligers were the inspiration for the Sphinx or other mysteries in mankind’s past. For today, we have a change to know and spend time with them. While their species is still living with us.

This reality is all most people need to know, when considering the impact of ligers in the world of humans and this is the best reason that we should encourage everyone to meet them with compassionate kindness. Because ligers are the gentlest giants of all the mammals on Earth.
