Wasn't Bigiano's Shayo banned? And 'Maga don pay'? Nigerians ban everything. Like it's bad to sing about sex. I'm sure they wouldn't understand him anyways. lol |

chiogo:Yes, we should do that soon. More of effing than arguing about talentless hacks. hax doesn't like listening to hacks. I don't know but then, it's hax. You hate on Drake too and then you write essays defending him. I still love you.I hate on him a little, I don't HATE him. I see him as average. I listen to too much underground stuff to appreciate someone who sings so much and has such a monotone flow. And his subject matter isn't really impressive. It's this girl or that. But I still like him. He writes good hooks, and picked some nice beats on this album. Much less singing that So Far Gone. I liked Over and Forever. Don't make me look so bad. We need more Little Vic's, J. Cole's, Big K.R.I.T.'s, Blu's, Clipse's (signed to Roc Nation, dropping solo albums ), etc. I still lurr ya too. J. Cole sings too. I wuv him too. lol https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eUHacpMNXq8 J. Cole- Show Me Something Listen to this and you'll never want to listen to B.o.B again. |

chiogo:By succeed I mean 'make good music'. So, since he can't make good rap music, he sings, to make bad pop music. They just use different methods, like the 50 cent analogy I gave you; dude makes his songs catchy with his beats and his "singy" rap style. It's his style - I would know a song by him just by hearing his beat/voice. Same shit. It's called flow. In Da Club wasn't singy, only the chorus to Many Men was a little sing-songy, my personal favourite on the album, Heat was not singing, even 21 Questions, he pulled the singing off well, but his verses were good. The rest of the songs, such as Blood Hound, Back Down, etc weren't sing-songy. The reason 50 fell off is because his lyrics got worse after ever album, and Dre couldn't save him anymore. They weren't catchy enough, and the verses were weak. Even The World Is Yours had singing in it. I loved Luda's One More Drink. Even T-Pain's verse and chorus. I don't mind singing. I mind singing when it's followed by crappy verses. I agree the verses on Nothing on you were short. . . .but he really didn't sing that much if at all he did, Bruno Mars did most of the singing and sometimes B.o.B just repeated after him. And how come you're focused on this one song? What about Bet I, did he sing on that one too?It wasn't, maybe it was too 'Rap', not 'Pop'. lol And I'm not going out of my way to listen to B.o.B. Until his next album. Have you seriously ever listened to B.o.B and been like 'damn, that was a sick verse'? That's my major problem with his album. He just can't RAP. If he was singing, and dropping hot verses, do you think I'd hate on him? And his leaving it off his album says alot about his ability to craft an album. If Nas dropped the 9 Illmatic tracks separately in 9 years would he be regarded as the legend he is? Albums are used to judge your ability, not tracks and hooks from here and there, that's why there's alot of pressure to make them perfect. |
Music/Radio / Re: Light Up - Drake Ft Jay-z by hax: 4:29am On Jun 11, 2010 |
chiogo:I know. I think. lol You're being so technical about it. Calculating how many minutes/seconds he spent singing as opposed to rapping lol. I think you just don't like rappers singing in general, regardless of how long they spend singing on the track. Not really. I never complained about Lupe's singing. Paris, Tokyo is probably my best song of all time. Seriously. I like Forever, I like Over. I even liked Nas' terrible singing on AZ's 'Gimme Yours'. What annoys me is when a rapper sings so much instead of rapping, and when he raps, it becomes obvious why he spends so much time singing. But hey, "it's 2010 not 1864" Honestly, I don't like it either but with B.o.B, it's so different. Like, he's creating new sub-genres within rap music - good kinda change.I think he needs a new genre. One for people who aren't really good at rapping, so they sing alot. Make it nice and catchy, let everyone buy it. It doesn't matter what Kanye called his album, is he a rapper or an R&B artiste? There you go.I can't deny the fact that Nothin' on you is a very catchy song. But I like it less every time I hear it. Because of the short, wack verses. And nothing else on the album comes close to it in terms of such wide appeal apart from Airplanes. And since he needs his songs to be catchy to succeed since he can't rap, I see the album as one big failure. I think he did some "rapping" in Higher, Don't let me fall, Bet I, and Fame.Higher isn't on mine. I have only 12 tracks. And no I'm not going to download more B.o.B. lol |
Music/Radio / Re: Light Up - Drake Ft Jay-z by hax: 7:24pm On Jun 10, 2010 |
chiogo:I know. The mofo almost broke us up. lol Yea, he did some singing in "Nothing on you", doesn't make the song less hip hop. Some singing? Since you're not deaf like eldee, maybe you should try listening to it and tell me how long the verses were. I broke them down in my previous post. 50 cent has been singing as far back as the days of "Many men", his fans still consider him a "G". Same with Eminem. I like rappers sticking to rap too, didn't like Kanye's 808's and heartbreak at first. But then my problem was with autotune not singing per se.Singing is part of hip hop. Making a pop album is not. Both B.o.B and Kanye committed that offence. At least Kanye didn't try to call 808s hip-hop. B.o.B didn't use any autotune. . . or did he?No, he's a good singer naturally. Nothin On You is nice. Airplanes 1 and 2 are nice. Very nice. And 5th dimension. And Past My Shades. Sadly, the rest of the album is crap. eldee:That did not make any sense at all, neither did it answer my question, but. . . okay, i guess. 2. Dude . . . what did you say on the Eminem thread just this afternoon??I posted that a whole day earlier. How long do you take to listen to albums? lol Heard of this kewl thingamajiggy called an iPod? And your time thingy is B.S, doesn't even fit with the song at all, check Youtube.Maybe YOU should provide your own time thingy and prove me wrong? I'm not going to argue with you anymore since all you do is dodge my points. A-40:No. shotster50:No, this isn't what Andre has been doing. Andre is a sick lyricist. Umm, B.o.B sounds like something you'll hear on Disney channel or HSM rap edition. |
Music/Radio / Re: Eminem's Recovery Album.Please rate by hax: 7:09pm On Jun 10, 2010 |
eldee:This is one position I don't really like. Defending one who's 10x less sh-itty than the other. Whatever. Show Me a Good Time, Over, and Fireworks hooks were better than everything on B.o.B's apart from Nothin On You. Which was by Bruno Mars anyways. lol Seriously? With terrible hooks like 'Bet I', 'The Kids' and 'Past My Shades'? I'm sure you wouldn't like to be caught singing the hook of 'Fame'. And if the hook of '5th dimension' is your thing, then well, good for you. You want less rap in hip hop music anyways. I only put the Giggz song because I remember you on a thread saying he couldn't sing. . . I was like, WTF!!!Ummm. . . I remember saying exactly the opposite. Check my posts again. If you listen to old music, you'll notice that most times at the end of major eras different genres forge into a recognisable sound for the era itself.Umm. . . so? And yes, real rock fans don't like Lil Wayne because he's not good at rock . . . but they love Kanye to bits.REALLY? Real rock fans love Kanye? lmao Rappers are not good musicians, it's something that you'll soon learn.Numb/encore wouldn't have been a good song if it mixed bad rock and bad rap together. And I don't know if you didn't notice but R'nB (Yeah, KARMA), Rock (Let It Rock, Linkin Park), Soul, Pop(Diva) and most progressive genres have one time or the other picked up rap influences.No. If I want to listen to RnB, I'll buy Alicia's latest. Not listen to some cra-ppy rapper sing and drop wack verses. 'Commercial' and safe is what Drake did, it's different from B.O.B's innovation . . . I've only listened to TML once though.Yup. More singing instead of rapping in a hip-hop album is exactly the kind of innovation hip-hop needs. B.o.B is the future. Thank God The Roots are dropping an album in 2 weeks time. Heard enough sh-it recently. I'm happy you didn't even try to compare Drake and B.o.B's lyrical skills. But I'm sure his horrible singing and pop beats make up for it though. |
Music/Radio / Re: Light Up - Drake Ft Jay-z by hax: 11:00pm On Jun 09, 2010 |
eldee:Wrong on so many levels. lmao - When you listen to an album, your comments become 'fact'? - How do you know I haven't listened to the sh-!t? Did you hack into my iTunes? Now why would I give my verdict on something I've not listened to? I keep an open mind. I'm NOT a fan of Drake. But I download his stuff and listen to it to find out if it is nice or not. I wasn't a big fan of B.o.B's, but I thought under T.I.'s management, he would do something good. He sang a sick hook on T.I.'s 'On Top Of The World'. And he had his buzz. That was enough for me. But I listened to it and thought it was poppy crap and used Nothin On You as an example because it shows the problems of the whole album clearly. Think what you want. Hooks have always been more popular than verses since the days of Moses, stop saying it like it's sumn new.Yup. That's why Illmatic and Ready To Die and other Wu-Tang classics are known for their sick hooks. They still rap more than they sing . . . time stamps will prove that to you.On 'Nothin' on You'? Want to prove it? Verse 1- 0:43 - 1:00 Verse 2- 1:55 - 2:15 Verse 3- 3:10 - 3:30 Less than a minute of sub-par rapping in a 4 and half minute song. Shame. They just concentrate more on the way their rap verses sound. And concentrate even more on how their hooks sound. Multies and rhyme schemes and overall delivery are the parts that make hiphop music . . . the rest is poetry, punchlines, wordplay, that's all poetry.Yes, Capt. Obvious. |
Music/Radio / Re: Eminem's Recovery Album.Please rate by hax: 10:31pm On Jun 09, 2010 |
eldee:Heard Giggs here and there on a few tracks with Skepta. He's aight. But that's by the way though. Maybe YOU should listen to Drake on 'Say Something'. Or Drake on 'Best I Ever Had'. Drake is more consistent. and he's shown that he's good at it. Drake was too formulaic for me, it was the typical commercial album. . . track for track, Nothing on You trashes Find Your Love, Airplanes trashes Over, Magic trashes Light Up . . . B.O.B even had a rock song on his album, that's as good as it gets for a new rapper.*stops reading there* Yeah, that's GOOD for rap music. Let's rap less and release more songs of other genres. Because our 'new school rappers can't fxcking rap or pick good beats, we have to listen to them branch out to other genres? Why should I buy a B.o.B. album to listen to Rock? Did REAL rock fans give a fxck about Lil Wayne's Rebirth? Would real rock fans go out of their way to listen to B.o.B's 'rock-rap'? That's like Sade promising a rap track on her next fans. Hip hop heads won't give a fxck. People buying her album WILL though. Because they want to hear what she's good at. That's why they bought her album in the first place. Why don't RnB artists start rapping? Why don't pop stars start rapping? Why is it rappers who have to sing pop music and rnb? Isn't rap doing well on its own? Maybe they know they just aren't too good at what they do. but they need fans. They need to sell. What's the best thing to do? Appeal to a wide audience and alienate your real fans. Would people who heard B.o.B 2 years ago on his mixtapes be happy to hear him do 'rock' on his debut LP? And lmao @ Thank Me Later for being 'commercial' and 'formulaic'. So B.o.B.'s Adventures was 'not commercial'. Why the fxck was he singing all over the place then? |
Music/Radio / Re: Light Up - Drake Ft Jay-z by hax: 10:14pm On Jun 09, 2010 |
eldee:Your opinion is now fact? lol Drake built a CV of great music way before TML . . . his mixtapes were critically signed and stamped.*Drake voice* We know. Now scrap this whole punchline after punchline thing, it's wack. . . how can you say nothing on you was not good hiphop music because he was singing?? Go back to 1983 homieMaybe you're the one in 2023. A time where Alicia Keys, Beyonce and Rihanna are regarded as old school hip-hop. B.o.B barely rapped on the song, Bruno Mars took over the whole song with chorus since the verses were forgettable, and B.o.B did his share of singing too. lol Same with Drake these days. It seems to be a successful rapper these days, you need to rap LESS. More singing and auto-tune! That's GOOD HIP HOP! Good music has little to do with punchlines negro . . .True, good jazz music has little to do with punchlines. Good HIP HOP music on the other hand? Where would J. Cole be if he couldn't brag that he's 'heating up like may weather' and Shad couldn't say 'his life got more issues than a magazine'? You disappoint me. And I've said it a few times that I prefer stories, content and multi's to punchlines. |

TML was alright. Drake does know how to do his hooks and beats. It's a pity Eminem can't do the same. After so many years in the game. At least Nas ran to uncle Damian when he knew he couldn't pick beats to save his life. lmao eldee:Credibility lost. |

eldee:Were they worth it? I hear Recovery's production is weak, and his wordplay is forced, and Drake is pop. lol I've heard only Nicki's verse on the whole Thank Me Later. I'm not interested. I downloaded TML a few days ago, and Recovery yesterday. Haven't gotten to listening to them yet. Both haven't been impressing me lately. Can't be bothered yet. Maybe I'll try them tomorrow. Drake first. Don't forget to d/l Reflection Eternal o. |

eldee:Just hating. lol And umm, if it's done, drop it already, abi? He's making undeniably good music, all your hiphop fathers have called him the future of hiphop music, what else does he have to do to avoid this cheap hate??All he has to do is make 'undeniably good hip-hop music'. Like someone like T.I. does. |

Yeah, props from stars means you'll sell. Look at Asher Roth's 'Asleep in the Bread Aisle'. Didn't Hov praise him? I'm glad the whole album's leaked, now everyone will know it's cr-ap and won't buy it. lol Apart from the little white girls though. |
Music/Radio / Re: 50 Cent: Get Skinny Or Die Tryin': Scary Picture by hax: 11:31am On May 31, 2010 |
bjmighty:Nope. I have nothing to say about a rapper who's worth millions of dollars who specifically chooses cheap beats from less known producers to put on his latest album because he's afraid of doing 'Fat Joe numbers'. Especially when his production is what got him to sell millions, since he's ummm, unspectacular lyrically. Kanye's track 'didn't make the cut', DJ Premier's track 'didn't make the cut', Swizz Beatz (even though he's horrible) 'didn't make the cut'. |

colomb:- Def Jam's been around since the 80's. - Rihanna's debut was in 2005 on Def Jam. She wasn't 'doing fine' before Def Jam. - Ne-Yo's debut was dropped before it was released, his real debut was released on Def Jam. He wasn't 'doing fine' before Def Jam. - Jeezy also started in 2005 on Def Jam. He's the only one who could have been said to be 'doing fine', he dropped an album with Boys in the hood before that. - And Rocafella wasn't the only record company that doubted Kanye's rapping skills, just so you know. - Jay-Z accepted the position of CEO in 2004. So he WAS the 'owner' and all before Jeezy, Rihanna and Ne-Yo. And he signed Kanye on Rocafella first. I think you're exaggerating Dash's influence. Give Jay-Z his props. HE SIGNED THE ROOTS! |
