Are you for real? If you are serious then Abia is d best location to site a piggery because raw materials will abound and cheaply too

Practically, yes. If you are dealing with the average breeds we have in Nigeria. If we talk about exotic breed, what will be the initial cost of the animal. If you decide to take the shorter route of feeding them to achieve greater weight in shorter time, 65 naira cannot feed them.

Please outline here what formula you use that will cost you 65 naira and how many kg it will come out as. Also what is the weight gain expected per animal? This is practical, not theory

Nice write-up and an encouraging one. Piggery can be a rewarding experience, but in the long term. I have some observations and additions:

1. You didn't include the cost price of the pig which is around 5000-6000 for weaners and 12000 for growers.
2. You didn't account for cost of accommodation which averages 200 naira per month per pig.
3. Cost of attendant isn't included.
4. U said it takes 125 days or 4 months to achieve 50kg. In theory it's okay. In practical, it takes an average of 8 months from weaner age to attain 60kg.
5. Pigs require around 3kg of feed daily esp as they grow older
6. The cost per kg live weight is 420 naira as at today in oke aro. Outside farms sell for 470 thereabouts. Selling at 1100 means you are slaughtering and you then have to add 1500 as slaughtering cost minus the whole wahala of transporting, marketing etc.

From this, the profit of 10,281.25 per animal (35kg X 293.75) will have been decimated.

Pig farming can be a very rewarding experience but it's not a get rich scheme; it takes time and lots of it. If you aren't passionate, you will run in and run out as a lot of people have been doing.

A farm with already built structures is available for rent in Owerri IMO state. Pls if you're interested in Piggery, Fishery or birds you can join us. Below are three of my females. The first gave birth to the second and it was bought for 3000 in those days. The first farrows a minimum of 10 everytime and is pregnant for the 4th time. Its daughter in the 2nd pix farrows a minimum of 12 and is pregnant for the 2nd time. The black sow in the last pix farrowed on Saturday morning and dropped 9 that we saw.
No 1 weighs 104
No 2 weighs 80
No 3 weighed 90 when we checked last

They are all normal breeds but crossed with a Camborough boar we bought for 10k.
