It all depends on the love/bond that exists between us and his attitude for the duration he is away. But in all, I think all relationships should be given one year maximum to have direction after which everyone goes their way.
If I am married to him before he leaves, then there should be arrangements made as regarding the man performing his marital duties and if he fails to meet up within 2 years then its time to go. A lady of over 23 waiting endlessly for a guy she isnt married to is stupid while a woman of over 35 waiting for 9 years for her husband to return needs to sit down and have a rethink.
For me, one year max to give the relationship a direction and 2 years max to work out how husband and wife can be together.

Now I am somewhat confused. Which of the posts should I believe? Orinkinla or MRbrownJAY?
I was accepting the former before the latter post came up.

I am just guessing that this new project thing might a soft landing for him before he gets booted out. I may be wrong. I just don't want to be left stranded in the rain without an umbrella.

Talk to him about it.
You can use the 'Socratic' approach, i.e. ask him what the new team is about, nod your head sagely to his responses, then tell him how unfortunate it is that your career goals lie in the other direction. All the while apologising profusely.

Just make sure that the new incoming oga does not have any belus for his predecessor's 'golden children', if you are pereceived as one.
If that's the case, you have to follow your oga o. Nobody needs a vengeful oga on their case.

Na your boss is being moved , but you are not, just play it cool and see how things work out. Unless if you have been pegged as being on the same team as your erstwhile oga, in which case you unfortunately have to move with him. Just play it cool and professional, and keep everybody quessing.

I have no reason to be worried and no one has pegged me as being on same team as my oga but my concern is the fact that he has mentioned to HR that he wants me on his new team and they are acting on this. I don't want to go but don't know how to approach the issue without hurting my boss. I am comfortable in my current position and I don't want the headache that comes with starting something new particularly if the new thing is not quite concrete or well understood.
Should I just tell my former boss I am not interested in the new offer or should I talk to the new boss about it? I have spoken to HR but they say it's out of their hands.

Honestly, e bi like say dem wan fall the guy hand o. So how do I back out? I am not his loyalist, I am only loyal to my take home pay and maybe to the company providing it. I need to act fast before they bring in a replacement for me. Some colleagues suggested I speak with the new boss, what do you think of that? Good idea?

Hi all! My first time here, I guess.
I have this serious issue and need help from experienced people.
My boss and two other heads from my unit have been picked out to form a new team and new officers were employed to replace them. This new team just has a name, no job description, no letters sent out to them, no office space has been made ready for them, no one is even sure what their job will be.
My problem is my boss has been made head of this new team and he has picked me out as one of the people he wishes to follow him into this unknown world but I am not keen on doing this. I really prefer to work with the new boss because he is seems more dynamic and likely to bring changes that will urge the organisation forward and I want to be part of this.
How do I wriggle out of following my former boss without annoying him? I was not given an option of choice, he just assumed I will be glad to go with him.
