Having a child out of wedlock doesn't make you trash. Dust yourself, pick up some self esteem and stand tall. A nice man will come along soon. You have cheapened yourself before your current guy and shown your desperation so he treats you like dirt. He cannot even stand up to his mother. Just move on and hope for the best. Widows and divorcees with more kids still find good men to marry.

I would say they use the qualities they desire their partners to have (he should have the major 'must-haves'), the attraction to the guy and their natural intuition. Its a combination of all.

For me; No way and if he insists engagement is broken. I have my personal aspirations and ambitions, his ability to pay the bills doesn't in any way fulfill them.

I agree it's stretching it too far but people do all kinds of things to get papers. I actually met a young handsome Naija guy in his early twenties who is married to a white lady of over 50 years. The lady was fat, not so easy on the eyes and had thinning blonde hair. When he introduced her as his wife I was taken aback but realised he was in it for a purpose.
For the couple with target, having their husband hanging around another lady is fine as long as target is met. But really the wife could have done better by disappearing for the duration of husband and 'iyawo's visit. Everybody with their strategy!

You mean like get to 40+ and find myself unattached? Then I will thankfully grab the 43 year old serial divorcee and his 6 kids while hoping he isn't that terrible in bed. But I have a good head on my shoulders and I am a confirmed strategiest, I can smell a good man from afar and know the yeye ones so well.
Seriously, sometimes life leaves us no choices so we make do with what is offered and try to make the best out of it and be happy/content.

This love thing can make people do stupid things if taken to the extreme. However the Naija wife in in the case stated was not doing all that for love but for survival; that was her own sacrifice to get residence permit.

Life always offers all sorts but gives the opportunity to make a choice. And remember we always make our beds the way we want to lie on it.

He should be looking for ladies over 40 who are deaperate to become 'Mrs' somebody. His separation from two wives who were unfaithful speaks volumes about his sexual prowess and its likely the next wife (wives) will do the same. 6 children!!! That's a housefull, he should be searching for a nanny not a wife.
I can't marry a 43 year old man because he is too old for me; can't marry a divorcee as I don't want an embittered man and I can't marry a man with 6 kids. Haba! When will I have time to take care of my own children that is if there is room for more kids in the guy's life.

I hope we  score a goal.  A draw will be a blessing from the gods.
