InvertedHammer: / Comprehension may not be your forte.
1-2 years to prepare for your exams and understand the culture. If you are highly intelligent, you may pass Step I and 2. If you are lucky to get placement/matched in residency immediately(rarely happens), then the minimum duration for residency is 3 years. As a resident, you are merely making minimum wage even on long and excruciating long hours. You are not independent.
There is no way you will spend less than 6 years coming from Nigeria to practice in USA. Don't forget that you are a student doctor as a resident and may still be kicked out.
/ A resident makes minimum wage? Shows you know nothing dude! ...and a resident is not practicing in your books? A Resident a student doctor ?( do you know how ridiculous that sounds) So you write step 1 in Ghana, 2 in the US-- are you going to sit down there? Don't people write the exams and come back home? You think they pack their bags to go write step 1 and 2 and sit down there? What are you saying dude?! You know there are thousands of Nigerian Doctors in the US right? ... and I mean Nigerians working as Doctors! |

Funny enough, there was nothing like Med Lab Scientist before oh, those were the days quality results were being churned out, but to cut costs nowadays, na so dem bring these guys, now na different result you go dey everywhere.
Guys wey no even sabi do blood film sef, guys wey go dey diagnose Typhoid with that irresponsible test called Widal. Na them pollute the average gullible Nigerian mind sey Widal na Typhoid test, not knowing many illnesses can also give an elevated Widal result.
The use of widal is helpful, when used serially with help from the clinical features majorly.
But when hatred for the Nigerian doctor is already established as a foundation, all you tell them enters one ear and goes through the other.
I've always adviced Naija docs that the only way they can be appreciated is to leave the country, people never know the value of what they have until they lose it.
Any naija doc who's spent 5years post graduation and is still in Naija has his/herself to blame for any rubbish being spewed at them by Nigerians.
Nigerians are simply an ungrateful set of people, shikena! What are you saying bros? The same typhoid people have been treating every 3 months for the past 10 years?! Resistant typhoid! I asked 2 people, from Mali and Senegal once, if they knew what typhoid is-- they had no freaking idea. trilobite: Happened to a very good friend of mine:
One girl slept didn't wake up and was rushed to the hospital. The doctors ran tests, and did all they could (in their illiterate mind) before confirming her dead.
The mum however refused the hospital moving her daughter to the mortuary, insisting she was alive. Now when someone dies a final injection is given to the corpse before the body is moved. The mum fought tooth and nail against it's administration.
The family ordered one of their doctor sons in the USA to come back and run a final check on his sister. He took an immediate flight and arrived a few days later. Now note throughout all this the girl's body was covered on the hospital bed like a dead corpse.
Dude came in, didn't even need any fancy equipment, just checked her body and confirmed.....SHE WAS ALIVE!!!! He ordered specific tests, gave her some injections after which she regained conciousness.
The incident still scares me to this day. If not the family had him, the hospital would have killed their daughter. How many people who are in a worst financial situation have suffered a worst fate?
God help us. So the girl was kept on a hospital bed for those days? I thought Rigor Mortis sets in after a few hours, then the body starts decomposing ( or was she put in the morgue) I don't want to say it's a lie, but it sure sounds like a poorly scripted Kannywood story! |

Pass USLME exams. Then if lucky, get Residency placement of minimum 3 years. Then one can do fellowship (for specialists).
To practice in US as a doctor trained in Nigeria will take about 6 years for very intelligent and "lucky" ones. \ Every doctor there goes through Residency-- you understand Residency is work right? You are working! If you pass your USMLE and your get matched, why will you spend 6 years again? |

mployer: He couldn't have saved money for 3 yrs.
He came from Nigeria, he won't start practicing immediately. He will need some form of accreditation and licensing before practicing which will take close to a year.
He won't start saving the moment he starts practicing. He need to sort out accommodation, maybe get a car and pay up some outstanding debts.
Let's say he saved €500 per month in the third year, that will amount to paltry €6k.
The house is valued at 250k. Do the maths.
And what makes you think a Doctor in England cannot be a Yahoo boy? I mean, do they make more money that Yahoo boys? If you don't know why don't you ask-- people are getting jobs right from Nigeria... Who says you don't practise immediately and what licensing again? I know people that saved 20k in one year, so what's the biggie. What's the biggie in getting a house? I was at the Barber's and a guy was talking about how he got his 1st house at 19... 0monnak0da: Simple logic if you buy a house on Mortgage, put a tenant in it and he pays rent which pays the mortgage you are investing
Anything else you are speculating Bros, sense will not kill you-- that is how the house will be paying mortgage by itself. How can someone see good credit and not take it? Only poor people believe savings makes them better off. |

AnanseK: Good for him, but remember this is mortgage from a building society.
He will be paying exorbitant some of money with interest for this house until his retirement. If he defaults in payment the building society takes back the house. When he reaches old age he sells the house and uses the money to move into a private old people’s home.
Because he will be counted as having some money he is not qualified for government subsidy and the old people’s home may actually take all the money he has. Stop this lowly thinking-- I know a doctor, a Nigerian Doctor that has 40 houses in the UK. What is bad in getting a Mortgage? Our fathers that saved every dime, were they better off? A smart man doesn't use his money for an investment, if he gets a good loan he takes it! While Nigerians are priding their selves for paying 'in full,' Asians are buying up whole streets. Angelfrost: Not a fan of either... But, we both know Messi would easily have the same number, if not more, if he spent most time on the field hanging around the penalty area...
It's all about choice, individuality, and approach to games... One chooses to be a thorough playmaker, and score when he chooses or opportunity comes... The other basically wants all goals to come through him, even to the obsessive point of getting upset if substituted without a goal. Assisting or tracking back to defend or intercept doesn't interest him.
This is what makes both players unique... And what makes your comparisons, ermmm, quite silly. ...and one gets upset if his team-mate scored instead of passing the ball to him! Crazy! |

NORSYK: are Chilean team better than Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay? Even Columbia 1. A team sport is not necessarily about the individual players in the team. It's about cohesion, how the pieces of the jigsaw fit. 2. Chile was ranked the 4th beat team (in the world) in 2016 and now they are still in the first 20. 3. If you have ever taken time out to watch them play, you won't say whatever you are saying-- but I guess you only check scores online. 4. If they were an average team-- at least the set of Bravo and Sanchez, they wouldn't win Copa America, back-to-back. Was that a fluke?! |
