The whole essence of Western societies is built on this concept, hence their generally good standard of living and quality of life. The rich subsidise the poor. I feel primary and secondary school teachers should be well paid (minimum of N200, 000 a month for public school teachers). I find it appalling what they have to go through.

With that in mind, I searched for John’s name on Facebook and went through his profile down to the election campaign period. During the search, I discovered that John was a rabid Tinubu supporter and had made nasty comments about Igbos and how they cannot be allowed to be president, even though Obi maintained consistently that he was not an Igbo candidate. At that point I was very furious and decided against providing a letter for John. He could not vote for a bad and corrupt president and now wants to japa out of Nigeria. He should stay back and eat his own vomit. Those were the thoughts that ran through my mind, until the better part of me took over. Long story short, I wrote a support letter for John and got my American Associate to also write one for him.

The poor have not suffered enough. When they suffer enough, they know what to do.

The fact that Lagos was capital for more than 60 years, through Nigeria's Amalgamation, Nigeria's independence, through the Oil Boom Years, and the attendant concentration of Nigeria's federal government assets, institutions, corporate headquarters of virtually every important organizations, etc led to a massive influx of opportunity seekers, which exponentially grew the population. The domino effects have remained till today.

The huge, diverse population and ancillary attractions will always mean economic opportunities. The same thing is happening in Abuja, and will continue.

Then again, opportunities do not mean that money grows on trees. You have to deploy acumen, talent and skill to exploit these opportunities. It's not by parochial 'omo onile' entitlement mindedness.

While I agree that an airport is likely not a priority for Ebonyi State now, you can't possibly convince me that Ebonyi, in the South East, has the lowest literacy rate in Nigeria, or is even among the poorest States in Nigeria. On what indices? What about States like Kebbi, Jigawa and the rest?
