Whenever Ibadan comes up on social media, it's usually to make jest of the city. The city is usually used for comic relief and most times what people use to deride the city is either the accent, their supposed lack of exposure or theiir brown roof.
The brown roof one made me decide to visit Ibadan recently just to show the other side of Ibadan that people do not show. I mean, yes Ibadan has some areas with brown roof so does most Nigerian cities.
However, what people fail to show are the nice area of the city. Note that Ibadan is arguably the largest city in Nigeria and as such has a myriad of neighborhoods both for the rich and the poor.
So, like I said, I went to Ibadan recently to show you what Ibadan looks like.
On a side note, I think Ibadan really has nice roads.
jaephoenix: The church is charging the vendors huge money. Millions of naira. Not just food vendors, but every business like water, services etc. So to offset the bill, the end consumer, who happens to be OP has to pay dearly. Its business. The church is indirectly making profit from sheeple like OP.
Greatzeus: In deeper life camp, the church is the only one involved in selling food and Christian literature. The food are served 3 times a day in the auditorium and are 100% free, with sachet, water. If you're not okay or you can't wait to be served in the auditorium, you can go to food stalls and buy,the food are cooked and sold by the church,it's ridiculously cheap. Deeper life don't allow vendors sell food or literature in the camp ground. Unless you go outside the gate to patronise them. Note I am not a member but I have been to deeper life retreats many times. I respect their Superintendent a lot, though I have my reservations about few things about them.
I grew up in Deeper life so I know exactly what you're talking about. The situation in winners is very alien to me.
I went to the just concluded Shiloh and as much as I enjoyed the experience, I noticed the food inside Canaanland was more expensive than the food outside. Like shouldn't food inside a church environment be more affordable than food outside? I was really surprised.
Did you know that Nigeria's Biggest Railway Station is the Mobolaji Johnson Station in Ebute Metta, Yaba in Lagos. You can travel from the station to other cities such as Ibadan and Abeokuta.
b4ball: Such biz are usually divided by 3. I.e proceeds divided into 3 equal parts after subtraction of fuel being the raw material in this case. Part 1 for owner Part 2 for owner(earmarked for maintenance) Part 3 for driver.
So guys, I have a 2006 sienna that I started using for hire. I've driven it about 5 times now for hire and I noticed I was overwhelmed and have been very tired lately. So, I decided to get a driver to do the job while I pay him for it.
Now, i've resolved to pay him daily depending on the trip but don't know what is fair. I don't want to underpay him or overpay him so that we both don't lose.
So, I want help on what drivers are paid daily. I want to know how much i'll pay him if someone hires it for day and he closes by 6pm and how much if he drives to Ibadan and back for example.
Basically, I need help especially for those that are familiar with this line of work.
Sometime, last year, I visited Abeokuta, the capital city of Ogun state and i rode around on a motorcycle and I noticed how good the roads were and i'm wondering if it may have the best of atleast some of the best roads in the country.
flokii: The slums are where you find low income earners and hustlers.. Abuja get fine areas too where the rich and classy stay. Go to Maitama, Kado, Wuse II, Gwarimpa, Lokogoma, some tus.h parts in Lugbe, Kubwa, Dutse and more. Abuja is a place you'd have rest of mind.. moreover the FCTA is currently demolishing some parts and removing structures across the Capital city.
There's no how you'll have 100 percent fine city except you want to deceive yourself.. where would the hustlers go? if you go to court and lose, what would you do?
oglalasioux: OP, that place you called Apo junction is known as AP Gudu. The village is Durumi 2. Everyone there knows the bulldozers will come any minute.
I want to travel to Ibadan to make some videos for my youtube channel. I travelled there the last time but because I wasn't that familiar with the city, I couldn't cover much.
What are the interesting sights in Ibadan. Some historic sites and interesting cultural places will be nice. I also want to know the name of that place with a lot of brown roofs?
Thanks for your suggestions...

TheManPregnant: There are so many places like this in Lagos. From Ajah to Ogudu, you will see coded ghettos carefully tucked between or behind posh estates and high end streets. It's a normal stuff.
The difference between Lagos and Abuja is that while in Lagos, the slums are usually not in the same area with the wealthy places, in Abuja, the reverse is the case. The slums are usually within the same community. It's weird.
Many people are not aware that there are a lot of slums in very rich neigbourhoods in Abuja and they usually are hidden in plain sight. Whether it is Maitama, Asokoro, Gwarinpa or wherever, these slums exist.
I visited one of such slums in Abuja to see what it looks like.
