[quote author=Alemo50 post=30400171]Hi. A word of caution for those who plan to use Delaware County Memorial Hospital (DCMH): @ Alemo, I also used DCMH, firstly how. Many days did ur wife stay in the hospital, did she get epidural, becos if you go thru their contract it states tht the 7500 is for hospital and gyny's fees, and covers you for 48hrs and an extra day. Attracts 1200 it doesn't include piadetrician fees, pls don't mislead the masses. I was sent a bill for 215 for lab work, I took it to them and it. Was corrected and I got my apology. |

[quote author=jyde2014 post=30378721]Pele my princess is quite a handful, and coupled with running around for papers, the hospital and Doc fees totalled 7500, and it includes everything even to bloodworm on baby and immunization shots, and also birthcontrol if mum wishes. According to them it is already discounted for self pay, but I enjoyed my experience in the hospital, coupled with all the freebies too. |

dakotchic: I stayed at milton with family. Got the ssn by mail within 2weeks of delivery(I asked the hospital to apply),US passport was ready by the 2nd working day but I asked them to mail it and I got it within a week. I also got them to mail the Nigerian passport and it arrived within 1 week. So in 2 weeks you should have all your documents. The US passport cost 165usd for expedited at the passport agency and I spent 145usd for the Nigerian one. Please correct me do you mean, you got the SSN, Birth cert, US passport and Nigeria passport within 2 weeks after delivery, pls explain. Thanx |

chiduks: Good morning house. Pls I really need your advise. I've tried on countless times to make a deposit to a hosp in philly that I intend using. But they keep saying they don't accept prepayments. I'm scared cos I knw its advisable to show a receipt at d poe. Although I have d docs appt and my hubby and I plan to each hold 8k. Do u tink that wld suffice at d poe without the receipt frm d hosp?pls I'm open to ur suggestions. Thanks.
daddy: Please note that she got her visa last year and was to travel for xmas but was told that it was too cold so they decided to go in July only for her to take in sometime in April. They had bought their ticket so cancelled it so she can go for birthing. What documents will she require at the port of entry and hope this will not pose any ise with same experience? Please help out.
I would seriously you advice her to read the whole blog and if not the whole from at least page 100,what she would gain from this cant be over emphasised.Thar said. The good thing here is that she did not lie during her visa interview that she was not pregnant, because truely at that time she wasent. It is imortant she writes a letter to the embassy informing them that she is using the visa for birthing purpose, will advice she writes to both lagos and abuja which ever reply suits her the most she should use, their email are consularabuja@state.gov and lagosniv@state.gov. She should dowload the consent form for her husband to notarise before she leaves,i have heard that some states in the us requires the form to be notarised @ the us embassy while others accept just notarisation from any notary public She should also go with doctors coresponde o, and enough cash o.
Thanks @ Babatwi. She wrote to them and they responded. see response below. Thanks for the assistance.
Thank you for your email.
There is no legal requirement to inform us that you are seeking medical treatment in the United States. The Customs and Border Protection, a branch of USCIS, determines a traveler’s eligibility of entry to the U.S, you should be prepared to demonstrate to the immigration officer at the port of entry why you are seeking medical treatment and that you have logistical and financial plans for the treatment.
We recommend that you review the regulations on non-immigrant aliens entering the United States for purposes of childbirth at https://help.cbp.gov/app/answers/detail/a_id/882/~/visit-the-u.s.-while-pregnant-and-the-risks-involved and plan accordingly. Please you should not stay in the U.S. longer than you are permitted by Customs and Border Protection at the port of entry. The Department of Homeland Security at the port of entry will determine your eligibility to enter the United States on any travel.
If you choose to give birth in the U.S., we advise you to bring evidence of payment, both when you enter the U.S. on this visit, and at your future U.S. visa interviews. Dear Chiduks, I am presently in philly, and 8K is enough as the hospital I am using Delaware County charges 7500k. And. Has discount for self pay patients so you and hubby holding 16k is okay, but I advise you hold 10k and hubby holds 6k, and also come with ur Nigeria cards with statements if possible. |

jyde2014: It really wasn't easy oo, I flew into Philly and landed infront of the immigration, she asked what is my intention of coming to the US, I said Child delivery, she said which hospital I answered Delaware, she said how am I paying, I said Cash, then she told me to run my fingers on the scanner and then took me to the secondary examination, they made me seat for 30 mins and one mean lady called me and asked me how much is my bill from Delaware I said 7500k she said tht isn't possible and I brought out my receipts as I had made a down payment of 40% earlier, she looked at it, and then asked why I. Want to hv my baby in the US, I said better health services, she then said Nigeria has better health services, tht she puts it to me, tht I want a US citizen baby, and maybe relocate with my baby when he is 18yrs, I said NO, then she said I shld go and get my bags and come back here and she held onto my. Passport, I left and deep in my heart I was scared but kept on reassuring myself tht I wld leave this country only with my baby in my arms tht I serve a God of faith, I was speaking it as I picked my bags and went bak to her, they searched my bags as if I ws a thief, all the while I ws singing praises in my heart. They asked me to. Declare my cash which I did, they counted evry note, I also showed them my wellfargo Debit card( as I had earlier opened an account there) I also showed them my GT mastercard, they left me there for hours all this time I ws standing and praying then one miserable officer came to me and said, it is becos of pple like you tht we Americans pay more. Tax, go back to Nigeria and tell them to birth in their own country we hate you pple, and walked away, I eyed him and alsmost restrained myself from causing him in my mother's tongue, I continued praising God after like a million hours a black officer came, gave me my passport I opened it and discovered I hv been stamped in for 6 months, I just knelt down and thanked God took my stuffs and left. God really proved he is the God of all nations Thanks. |
