Let me indulge you a bit with a simple scenario:

A low band nurse in the UK can net 2K pounds. Assume frugal living, he/she can save 200 pounds per month, afford vacations and still live a decent life.

Same nurse working in a "well paying hospital" in Lagos can earn 250K. A room self contain in Somolu can cost 1m a year. Very small room. The quality of life is sub par, to put it nicely.

This is me trying to ignore the fact that many nurses earn 100k or less in Nigeria, making them easily susceptible to killing you "mistakenly" when you have the ill luck of landing in a hospital in Nigeria.

PS: I'm just seeing that people are taking the time to share comprehensive breakdowns of cost of living in Nigeria. I'll see how you respond...

Some Nigerians don't even know the basic principles for placing minimum wage amount. There are so many factors to be considered before government can set minimum wage amount.

I remember when the NLC was discussing the new minimum wage, my proposal was not more than N70-N80k after so much factors was considered

In the case of Ghana and their minimum wage, Average current minimum wage in Ghana is 21GHC but the average cost for Barbing as a guy is 15GHC and that even depends on area and the shop.

That price of foods, goods and services in Nigeria are more cheaper than majority of the countries is not something magical

Truth be told more needs to be done on our wages. You don't live in Nigeria. I spend over 100k on feeding every month. Then we can discuss bills, clothing, transportation, school fees. It's crazy... People end up begging to fill the gap. I know it didn't start from this present administration but we need to do more about our minimum wage it's crazy. It's always been crazy. Our minimum wage have never been enough to take care of a family person. Only OK for fresh out of secondary school boys and girls.
