I agree with the guy you quoted. The onus lies on those who allege that an incident occured to show the evidence, the onus doesn't lie on those that deny it occured to debunk. You cannot give them an onus they don't have. People have been saying that a massacre occured, this has been debunked by the very people who they claim died. The protesters who actually sadly died passed away not from shots by soldiers, but via accidents, attack by hoodlums etc. The video I saw from Lekki shows the soldiers firing into the air.

Nigerian soldiers are far from perfect, and their behavior towards the Shia during their protest marches leaves much to be desired. However, the idea that people will just cook up fake pictures and videos and link it to an alleged Lekki massacre in order to stoke up violence is abhorent.
Which video did you see and did you not see?

I agree, the President has handled this badly.

He is currently in a meeting with his security chiefs.
The same military has said the live footage we all saw is photoshop and fake. This country is a joke. Lives went into voice mail like that. Even if they escape vengeance from men, they can't escape vengeance from God.

Dialogue is the answer.

Destroying our country is not the way forward.

Nobody will win, we will all lose!!

The government will lose!

The people will lose!

Let us not incite violence!!

Preach Peace, give Peace a chance.
Have you seen the president or even any of his aide come out to speak to the people. They are acting like they don't care. I don't even understand the motive of their silence

While young Nigerians are out there seeking for a better-civilized country, some online kids who have never experienced how a sane civilized country should run are here claiming protesters should have stopped protesting or withdrawn 2 or 3 days ago or they lack strategy.
By these new actions of the government deploying soldiers and thugs to kill unarmed protesters, does it look like this government ready for any changes? Do you think the protesters wish to be out there morning and night instead of their homes and with their families, risking their lives for a better Nigeria? Buhari who appointed his media aide as an INEC commissioner will care for a free and fair election in 2023 just like he did in 2019?
The young Nigerians are out there fighting and dying for a better Nigeria that will benefit us all. Their sacrifices will never be in vain. Power is for the people and not the government. The government should be answerable to the people and not the people scared of the government.
If you have nothing good to say, it's best you keep quiet and stop being insensitive.

The creation of the Special anti robbery squad was a fire brigade approach adopted during the Goodluck Jonathan administration, it has served its purpose and should be disbanded
What concerns an anti robbery squad with laptops, Iphones and cybercrimes, obviously the unit has been turned into a business outfit. That is bullshit and it would not stand

This is really bad and not expected from you.

Both side have their claims which makes it interesting but they argue from different angles.

A 2003 corolla is better that a 1980 Camry when it comes to technology. It might even be bigger than the Camry in size but that doesn't make the Camry less than a corolla.

Aradu is old just as the technology is old. Refitting Aradu with recent tech cost almost twice the price of new Meko200.

A recent corolla will have a lot of features that the a 1980 Camry doesn't have.

To be sincere it might be better in everything because of the improvements in technology over time. and for this reason the other guys too have a point.
So Aradu can't do what the meko200 will do because it will carry better sensors, sonar, radar, weapons generally even the helicopter.

This is what the original argument was about and they both have points.
Seriously, I was enjoying the argument between both of them until insults started pouring in.

Nigerian Army takes delivery of more equipment – Buratai

The Nigerian Army says its operations to curtail the activities of criminals across the country had witnessed tremendous successes.
ByAgency Report October 6, 2020 2 min read
As part of efforts to tackle the prevailing security challenges confronting the country, the Nigerian Army has taken delivery of more sophisticated platforms and war equipment for its operations.

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Tukur Baratai, disclosed this at the opening of the Chief of Army Staff’s combined first, second and third quarters conference, on Tuesday in Maiduguri.

Mr Buratai, a lieutenant-general, said while some of the platforms were procured from foreign sources, some were sourced locally through local ingenuity and collaborations.

To this end, the Nigerian army recently took delivery of key platforms to reinvigorate our operations.

“These include the VT4 and FT1 tanks, the KIA light tactical vehicles as well as the SH2 and SH5 self-propel artillery guns.

“Post-treatment training is ongoing on this equipment and they would soon be inducted into the theatre.

“The Nigerian Army received some armoured personnel carriers from Jordan and we are expecting the delivery of other major capabilities.

“Furthermore, through local ingenuity, Nigerian Army facilitated the production and delivery of the pro-force MRAPs, Ezugwu MRAPS as well as the Conqueror and Champion barriers.

“Despite teething challenges in the new innovation, these platforms have no doubt enhanced the effectiveness of our troops across various theatres.

“We will continue to work assiduously to ensure that we support all operations with equipment and platforms,’’ he said.

Mr Buratai however, urged the commanders to ensure judicious deployment of the asset in order to justify the huge resources expended on them by the federal government.

He said the ongoing operations in different parts of the country to curtail the activities of criminals had witnessed tremendous successes.

The COAS said the military had done well in curtailing the activities of insurgents, armed bandits, kidnappers and cattle rustlers, as well as farmer-herder clashes and other crimes.

He urged the field commanders to sustain the tempo of operation to ensure the total decimation of all the inimical forces across the country.

According to Mr Buratai, the Nigerian Army had done well in operation Lafiya Dole and the recently launched operation Sahel Sanity in the North West to rid the Katsina, Zamfara, corridors of marauding bandits.

“Similarly, operation Hadarim Daji is very active in other parts of the 8 Division area of operation in order to curb incessant farmers and herders’ clashes.

“Also, since its establishment with headquarters in Doma, the 4 Special Forces Commend in conjunction with the Guards Brigade has conducted impactful operations in Nasarawa State.

“I am happy to observe that the various operations are currently achieving the desired objectives,’’ he said.

Mr Buratai, while paying tributes to fallen officers and soldiers, said that the army had put in place an elaborate housing programme for the families of the killed-in-action personnel.

He also assured that comprehensive medical treatment for all wounded personnel would always be accorded the highest priority.

Mr Buratai said the ongoing construction of the Nigerian Army Reference Hospital in Maiduguri and Abakaliki are just a few of several measures in this regard.

The Army chief commended the media and public for their understanding and positive change of perception regarding the Nigerian Army, adding that the media remained a powerful force in ensuring a progressive society.

He also emphasised the need for enhanced collaboration in tackling security challenges through positive, constructive and conscious media reportage.

Mr Buratai commended the collaboration of sister services and other security agencies and called for more support and collaboration towards making the country safe for all.

He thanked President Muhammadu Buhari and the Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, for their support towards defeating terrorism and ensuring peace and stability in the northeast.

halleluyah, insha allah Borno shall overcome.

The mistake some eternally optimistic people continually make is the believe that so called Nigerians living in Lagos, Imo or Abuja should care about Borno more than the Ancestral owners of Borno. Don't be a joker, everybody hold their territory, Nigeria is a federal nation for a reason. Everybody, hold your territory, hold your ground, if you cannot hold it, you will loose it, and when you loose it, the rest of Nigeria will negotiate with the people that occupy it afterwards.... facts. Borno grow sense ohhh, grow sense fast, re-occupy your fertile land, re-occupy your economically viable lake chad, re-occupy your waters... be fruitful, multiply, I don't think that's ever been an issue anyways grin... Educate them though, free education till senior secondary school, you will never regret it..... join the winning team... education is king...... The rest of Nigeria is rooting for you to win. Babagana, we are all rooting for you to win. Don't let a Nigerian living in Abuja, Lagos or Imo tell you not to occupy your lands... Lagos and Imo have their own fight to fight.
This war will be finally over when the owners of the land decide enough is enough, like we're seeing with Babagan Zulum. Kudos to the Nigerian Military, filled to the brim by every ethnic group available, this is Federal Nigeria's contribution to the struggle. Borno, wake up.
Funny thing is that some people will be hoping for something bad to happen so as to have their point proved.

There is nothing like bravery here. This is Common sense, even the US president won't wake up one and start touring war zones that is largely at the hands on Terrorists, even Obama had to sneak in unannounced to great troops and still yet Taliban's will find away to launch an attack. There is what is called High value target and terrorists are ready to give thier all to ensure they make a statement. It's just like saying Buratai should join the soldiers in trench. If BHT get the info they'll do everything possible to attack his location and good people may fall trying to defend him. Nobody is saying Zullum shouldn't show love to his people the thing is that he should know that his tour is endangering the lives of others it is common sense, he can delegate these things to people, do you know the kind of media outcry and lampooning of the military that will follow if it happens to be that the Governor gets killed in an ambush or his vehicle hits an IED, you will be the first to call for the head of military commanders.
People of Baga need to go back to their homes. The governor said it's not easy sustaining IDP camps. How long will the people wait before Baga and the surrounding area is cleared by the military? When will the perfect time come for resettlement after 12 years of insurgency? The military to me is just sitting in their bases and everyone is waiting for the terrorists to phase out themselves. Like they have an expiring date.

ecomog1990:
Nigerian Army no longer owns Ezugwu MRAP and all the other armoured vehicles it produced under NAVMC army vehicle company.

Army is now fully out of Ezugwu business, it's NA established NAVMC has been officially dissolved and legally ceased to be a corporate entity by end of 2019. A new company Eagle Engineering Nigeria Limited with civilian status was formed to take over from NAVMC that had military status before its legal dissolution.

FGN thru The Presidency took over Ezugwu to ensure it's survival, The Presidency is afraid that if left to Army hands, the Ezugwu will end up dead like the Igirigi APC wasted by the Army around 2016.

Eagle Engineering ceded Ezugwu MRAP, NAC-V, IPV I & II, etc over to DICON ownership also before end of 2019 and all these armoured vehicles became legally a Federal Government of Nigeria owned project and asset to be managed by DICON for the MoD under FGN control.

Since President Buhari campaigned with promise of creating a new medium capacity military industrial complex and it has not started any project for it, after Buhari's inauguration of the Ezugwu, he decided to adopt it as FGN project off taker for his military industrial complex, he is funding it via budget and grants via DICON.

This take over action of FGN will guarantee long term survival of Ezugwu MRAP and further advanced variant development as a DICON product for local market now, and export market future.

Answer to those asking the better MRAP, notice Ezugwu is bigger in size profile, an obvious advantage over ARA II. Comparison =

Ezugwu resists 12.7mm ammo (Ball at least, if not AP) VS ARA II resists 7.62mm AP ammo

Ezugwu is armed double weapon station for 2 HMG VS ARA II armed 1 HMG

Ezugwu has short range night vision 360° PTZ Thermal Imager VS ARA II has no night vision

Ezugwu mine resistance is 12 kg VS ARA II is 10 kg TNT

Ezugwu costs $200 k VS ARA II is over $270 k

This 2020 year Proforce ARA II sales to Chad is due to cancellation of Denel contract to sell 40 Casspir MRAP at $400 k each, Denel delayed delivery, Chad is in a hurry due to Boko Haram and ISWAP landmine-IED threats, Chad changed to faster supplier.

Ezugwu beats ARA II all round. Funding from FGN dollars will also advance Ezugwu even more as new variants are developed, while ARA II will suffer low funding as a one man business dependent on BOI bank loans to operate factory. One man business disease also cost ARA II a big foreign partner as the MD-CEO did not want to share ownership with a foreign partner that proposed hi-tech for ARA III variant that will beat the Ezugwu, Proforce shunned them off.

Nigeria cannot put national security needs in the hands of a private one man business alone, FGN military industrial complex must grow under DICON, AFIT, NN DOCKYARD all in healthy competition with our private local industries like Proforce LTD, Obasa LTD, etc for procurement sale contracts to supply NA, NN, NAF, NPF.

Its a win win win for everybody.

+
Ok!!! Thanks for the enlightenment, bro
I will just love the procurement to be more of a competitive advantage and performance basis rather than who is closer to the government.

I don't think there is anything wrong with a one man business. Innoson Motors is a one man business and he is doing well plus many other businesses.

Competition is healthy for the environment

Any which way is a win win for us bro..The more proforce advance it's business the more it would get orders from many African countries or even Asian countries with low revenue cos our currency and cost of production would make the vehicles way cheaper than other countries that produce armoured vehicles.
The private sector should be the driver of business like this in Nigeria. It attracts more investment and confidence if the private sector doesn't see any form of favourism in getting contracts from government.

ARA has already reached an advance stage in development but the Ezugwu is still in the developmental stage and going through tests and research.

Additionally, It will be nice seeing the ARA with RWS wink

See what the renowned journalist Babajide Otitoju wrote on his face book wall:

“Something unprecedented happened to me today. As I previewed a 30-minute documentary I produced on Proforce, a Nigerian company that designs and produces military tactical vehicles, Mine Resistance and Ambush- Protected, MRAP, bullion vans, bulletproof vests etc, which recently got the contract to produce 100 MRAPs for Chad Republic, I began shedding tears. It is not the greatest investigative or ground-breaking story I have done, certainly not. I shed tears about my country, a country I love so much. A country that has only four state-owned refineries, whereas a single American state, Texas has 47 refineries, my country that couldn't build a single refinery in more than 30 years. I am happy that something really good is coming out of my country beyond corruption, mind-boggling fraud and irresponsibly bad and selfish leadership. I feel inspired by Ade Ogundeyin's work and the brilliance of his young son who is the head of operations of the company. At last, even if fleetingly, I cling on to hope that our country can be great again, perhaps in my time.

Watch the Documentary at 8.30pm today on TVC Insight.”
100 MRAPS!!! That's impressive... Our Nigeria is going for far less.

The COAS is more fixated on his Ezugwu MRAP which is self glorifying in my opinion

Nigerian Military Airstrikes Kill Light-Skinned ISIS Foreign Fighters In Lake Chad – Several Commanders Perish
Opinion Security by globalsentinelnews1 - August 23, 20200

Social media sharing

By David Otto
Impeccable sources have confirmed that a successful coordinated aerial strike by the Nigerian military targeting hideout camps of ISIS in Africa affiliate – Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) has killed more than 20 foreign specialised ISIS fighters described by local sources as ‘Light skinned men’ and several Boko Haram high value Commanders along the fringes of the Lake Chad and Nigeria’s North-Eastern state of Borno.

The week long HUMINT led aerial strike launched by the Nigerian Air Force in coordination with the Nigerian Army and the Multi National Joint Task Force (MNJTF) took place in the week of 19th – 21st of August 2020. The most impacted ISWAP locations were given as Sabon Tombo and Tudun Wulgo in Marte Local Government Area (LGA) Borno State.

Preliminary damage assessment confirmed that the air strikes successfully hit the heart of ISWAP terrorist hideouts, killing about 20 newly arrived foreign ISIS fighters as well as key ISWAP unit Commanders. Hundreds more escaped with severe life-threatening injuries and burns. This is not the first time the Nigerian Military is successfully targeting ISIS foreign fighters in the region.

Names of ISIS Commanders Killed by Nigerian Air Force MOAB

Sources have revealed that some of the high-ranking ISWAP Commanders confirmed killed in the air-strikes include; Malam Musa Judum, a Jukun by tribe – Malam Musa is considered to be the group’s Chief Medical Doctor. Malam Abba, a resident of Nglewa and highly respected commander; One Malam Baba Isa, the Coordinator of the ISWAP fishing activities in the Tunbums; and Malam Ali Abdallah, a trusted guard to ISWAP Commander Umar Lene – many more are reported to have been wiped out without trace in what may be described as a MOAB (Mother of All Bombs) airstrike.

The targeted foreign ISIS mercenaries are reported to have first arrived Tumbun Gini (ISWAP Headquarters) by mid Aug 2020 accompanied by about 300 newly trained terrorist fighters from an unknown training location linked with a faction of the Islamic State of the Greater Sahel (ISGS) in Mali. The role of the newly trained fighters was to consolidate planned offensive efforts from ISWAP terrorist camps based in locations given as Kirta, Kwalaram and Sabon Tumbu. These locations were until recently serving as one of the biggest terrorist hideouts with unconfirmed reports of more than 3,000 newly recruited young jihadist fighters mostly between the age of 13 to 16 years -old harbouring in these locations.

The week planned and sustained aerial offensives has severely disrupted ISWAP operational command and further diminished the group’s plan to launch guerrilla style attacks on uncooperating soft civilian and hard military formations in and around locations in Monguno, Malam Fatori, Damasak, Gubio, Cross kwawa and MJTF Baga. These plans had depended on the mobilization of experienced and trained fighters from AZWAJ – ISIS foreign fighters from Libya and Mali Republic.

Many surviving and wounded jihadist have been spotted escaping to other known camps toward Bulgaram, Kirta and Bakassi. These locations could be used to treat wounded fighters. Others were spotted moving their families to safer hideout in Buningir, Kwatalo, sunuri, saliyo and Karfi, in the Lake Chad to escape from further air strikes, while others may choose to escape through Gamboru Fotokol and Yola in Adamawa state, through Bulgaram.

Several ISWAP wounded militants were conveyed in three boats from the destroyed camps of Sabon Tombo to Kirta under the escort of the infamous Abu Imrana, Abubakar Buduma, Umar Lene and Ali Kwata, also very high ranking ISWAP terrorist Commanders.

Recommendation

Some of the locations below are known hideouts for ISWAP and Boko Haram groups – and should be promptly surveyed and visited by the Nigerian Military and MNJTF troops.

Bakkassi, Jibularam, with an approximate coordinate of Long. xxxxx, Lat. xxxxx,
Tudun wulgo, with approximate coordinate, Long xxxxx and Lat. Xxxxx;
Kirta, with cord. Lat. 12. xxxxx and lat. 13. Xxxxx; kusuman an approximate Cord. Long. 12. xxxxx and Lat. xxxxx, (ISWAP hiding in makeshift tents and hiding their arms and dozens of gun trucks under thick kangar trees in this particular location);
Kattikime, located close to Kerenowa with an approximate Cord. Long. 12. xxxxx and lat. 13. Xxxxx. A Significant number of Boko Haram ISWAP Special forces are currently camping at Larki with an approximate cord. Long. 13. xxxxx and Lat. 13. Xxxxx.

The complex terrain of Tumbun Gini serves as ISWAP HQ despite previous heavy bombardment by the Nigerian military and MNJTF troop states – further known hideouts given as Cord. 13. xxxxx and Lat. 13. xxxxx approximately.

According to sources, Massive stolen medical consumables and food items had been arriving Kirta with cord. Lat. xxxxx, and Lat. xxxxx. The wounded jihadists are currently focused on treating some of the wounded militants with less life threatening injuries. About 15 high ranking ISWAP Commanders are currently in Kirta to assist in the recovery process and reassess ISWAP future operations. With a heavy presence of Jihadist fighters in Kirta , a visit to these given locations should be prioritised by the Nigerian Military and troops from the Multi-National Joint Task Forces (MNJTF).

Conclusion

To win this war against ISWAP and Boko Haram JAS factions in North/West Nigeria and the Lake Chad basin, all local , national and regional civil and military stakeholders must share a common intervention goal.

The intensified intelligence led COIN ground and aerial offensives by the Nigerian Army; Nigerian Air- Force and regional states Chad , Niger and Cameroon must be sustained on identified jihadist hideouts. The current sustained battlefield impact is pushing a self-destruct amongst jihadist leadership setting ‘the cat amongst the pidgins’ targeting mainly Jihadist hideouts in the complex mountain and complex Islands of the Lake Chad Axis. As jihadist continue to relocate from one hideout to another, the risk of exposure and battlefield elimination increases.

Local communities must be protected to enhance civil-military relationships with genuine and practical efforts to win the hearts and minds of the local communities.

– As long as the local population feels unprotected and in constant fear of jihadist reprisal attacks , the security and armed forces will continue to suffer battlefield deficit in information flow. These unsettling battlefield changes within Boko Haram ISWAP jihadist leadership presents an opportunity for all Local, State and regional hands to be on deck.

Military led aerial strikes have the potential to severely disrupt Boko Haram ISWAP operational activities in the region – but there is a need for inter-agency stakeholders to engage in all efforts to dry up and block Boko Haram and ISWAP from recruiting more fighters and acquiring operational resources at relative ease – making use of internal weaknesses and very porous regional borders. Without a comprehensive Counter Insurgency effort, these precision airstrikes will have a limited impact on the progress of the insurgency war – more vulnerable men and women will be recruited to fill the ranks of the fallen terrorist – and more citizens and brave men and women in uniform will continue to pay the ultimate blood price.

See something say something!!!

*Over 5,000 terrorists hiding in targeted locations

Senator Iroegbu
Security sources have confirmed that the air and ground operation launched by the Multi-National Joint Task Force with the Nigerian Air Force and ARMY on Monday have resulted in the deaths of top commanders of Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP).

Also confirming the attack, a Counter Terrorism expert, Mr. David Otto, said that the troops successfully bombarded more ISWAP camps and the jihadist who were escaping to Kirta and Wulgo of Borno State, Northeast Nigeria . He said some of the locations targeted have previously sheltered more than 5,000 armed fighters of ISWAP.

Otto said that sources further revealed that “more than 15 high ranking ISWAP Commanders were at the location when three Nigerian Air Force jets launched precision missiles killing unspecified number of the insurgents. Commanders such as Abu Imrana, Abubakar Buduma, Umar Lene and Ali Kwaya .

” Notorious Commanders -Abu Imrana, Abubakar Buduma, Umar Lene and Ali Kwaya, all high ranking terrorist were spotted at the location prior to the intelligence led aerial strike. Thick smoke from the bombardment could still be visible within Kirta and Wulgo, according to sources. “

According to him, these sustained aerial strikes from the air force in coordination with Army and MNJTF has been described by ground sources as ‘Jihadist Dark August’ referring to constant bombardment and the dark smoke generated from sustained airstrikes.

He however, cautioned that airstrikes and ground offensives alone will not defeat Boko Haram and ISWAP factions, adding that “a pool of vulnerable children both from within and outside jihadist hideouts remain targets of recruitment as reported in recent findings”.

He further advised that this the peoples war but building civil and military trust is key.

GOVERNOR ZULUM COMMENDS NAF’s CONSISTENT RESPONSIVENESS IN COUNTER INSURGENCY OPERATIONS, AS CAS ASSURES OF MORE SUPPORT FOR DECISIVE DEFEAT OF INSURGENTS

The Executive Governor of Borno State, His Excellency, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has commended the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) for consistent responsiveness in its counter-insurgency operations in Borno State and the entire North East of the Country. He said the commitment and dedication of the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, as well as officers, airmen and airwomen of the NAF had curtailed the activities of the insurgents and limited their scope of operations. Governor Zulum disclosed this today, 11 August 2020, when he visited the CAS at Headquarters NAF Abuja.

Speaking further the Borno State Governor, while commending the NAF for its consistent contributions towards the restoration of lasting peace to Borno State and other States in the North East, equally appreciated the Service for regularly providing airlift support to the State Government. He equally commended the NAF’s laudable humanitarian interventions in the State, including its numerous medical outreaches and the Level 2 Hospitals established by the Service at the Bama and Dalori Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Camps, which provide free, qualitative healthcare services to the IDPs. While highlighting the need for political solutions to address the root causes of the insurgency, which, he said, included poverty, illiteracy and unemployment, amongst others, the Governor noted that there was urgent need to ensure the return of IDPs to their homes in a safe and dignified manner.

Governor Zulum further noted that, while the State had suffered a number of attacks in the past 2 years or so, over 90 per cent of these had been successfully repelled through the robust, timely actions of the Air Task Force (ATF) of Operation LAFIYA DOLE. He therefore commended the ATF for its consistent speedy response. “Whenever I receive any report of an attack or crisis in any location, I immediately call the ATF Commander and within a few minutes, the NAF aircraft are usually airborne to deal with the issue”, he added. The Governor said Borno State and indeed the entire Nation would therefore continually remain indebted to the efforts of the NAF under the current leadership. He however solicited for sustained joint air and land offensive against specific areas within the Lake Chad and Sambisa Forest areas, observing specifically that the Lake Chad was, at a time, responsible for employment of over 10 Million people. He said there was need to ensure a return of normalcy to the area in order for the people to reap the socio-economic benefits of the Lake.

In his response, the CAS noted that the NAF, in collaboration with sister Services and other security agencies, would continue to work tirelessly to ensure the security of the people of Borno State and the entire North East. He assured the Governor that the Armed Forces of Nigeria and other security agencies would not allow any individual or groups to undermine the Nation’s territorial integrity or sovereignty. Air Marshal Abubakar noted that the ability of the Service to carry out its constitutional roles had continued to be boosted by the provision of adequate resources by the Federal Government. He noted that the NAF, with the support of the Federal Government, had acquired 22 brand new aircraft and was expecting another 17 manned aircraft, while 10 Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicles (UCAVs) had also been procured and would be deployed for various operations to cover the vast 705,000 square kilometres area of the North East, North West and North Central States.

Speaking further, the CAS disclosed that, since 2015, the NAF had significantly scaled up its presence in the North East to meet national security imperatives. He highlighted that the Service now has the Special Operations Command as well as a Reference Hospital and the 201 Composite Group located in Bauchi. He stated that the NAF had equally established a small unit in Damaturu, Yobe State to enhance the reach of its air operations. Similarly, the CAS said a Quick Response Wing, made up of NAF Regiment and SF personnel, had been established in Gembu, Taraba State to deal with the issue of farmers/herders clashes, which broke out in the area about 2 years ago. He also disclosed that, while the NAF had emplaced an aircraft maintenance hangar in Maiduguri to improve maintenance capability for aircraft deployed in the North East Theatre, the Service was also on the verge of establishing a new Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Gombe State. Air Marshal Abubakar concluded his remarks by assuring the Governor that, with the increased presence of the NAF in all the States of the North East as well as the deployment of additional air assets, insurgency and other forms of insecurity would soon be stamped out.

Before departing HQ NAF, Governor Zulum was led by the CAS to the NAF Memorial Arcade to pay his respects to aircrew who had paid the supreme price in the line of duty. Also present at the visit were some senior Borno State Government officials and Principal Staff Officers of the NAF Headquarters.

President Buhari Speaks On Insecurity In Nigeria; Appeals For Patience

We are working very hard to ensure the security situation in every part of Nigeria improves very soon. As part of our efforts, we are investing heavily in acquiring modern equipment. Some have arrived, some are being cleared at the Ports, and we have others still on their way.

Our government is doing its best on the question of equipment, and the military know. We understand the importance of properly equipping our personnel, so that they can deliver their best.

I ask for some patience with the acquisition of equipment, especially with the impact of Covid-19 on global supply chains. And then when the equipment arrive, we need to train personnel for their usage, ahead of deployment to the field.

I want all Nigerians to rest assured that we are doing our very best in this regard. You will see substantial improvements very soon. Security of the lives and property of all Nigerian people will continue to be a priority for us.

Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR,
President,
Federal Republic of Nigeria.
