We have been raised into believing that men and women have specific traits – masculine and feminine, respectively, that define their gender roles. While men ought to represent strength and bravery, women are seen as somewhat weak and docile. Adhering to this enduring tradition are today’s men who find it difficult to accept their ‘feminine’ side. One of the reasons why men don’t reveal this side to people is because they consider it a weakness. Best selling author Durjoy Datta agrees, “Absolutely! Guys have big egos. But then every male has a feminine side and every female has a masculine. It’s nothing to be ashamed of. 1.Men cry and it’s not unmanly to do so! Crying is an emotion; some choose to express it while some don’t. But whoever thinks it’s a womanly trait certainly deserves a dash of maturity in his/her outlook. “I wouldn’t say I cried but yes my eyes were moist when I found out about Rahul Dravid’s decision to retire,” says Amit Panhale who wouldn’t mind giving up his corporate job to write about sports. 2.Men watch chick-flicks There’s something about aggressive movies like Inglourious Basterds, Star Wars, Matrix, The Dark Knight series and more that appeals to almost all men. Hard- hitting genres that involve warfare, car crashes and assassinations, are an all time hit among them. Little did we know that they too take a break and sometimes indulge in feel-good mushy movies. 3.Girly drinks don’t make men girly The only two kinds of alcohol you’re likely to find in a bachelor’s refrigerator is either beer or scotch whiskey. A lime margarita with a cute paper umbrella tucked on the edge is certainly not their style. However, there are times when men like to keep it light and actually enjoy the colourful, syrupy drinks with almost negligible amount of alcohol content. Other girly things that men do: – It’s a common perception that men think about sex all the time but the truth is that they too love cuddling and extending the pre-intimacy session like most women. – Who says only women gossip? Men gossip too! Try eavesdropping into an all boys’ party and you’ll hear some astonishing conversations from their world of gossip. – Nick names are no longer just a woman’s thing. Men love calling their wives and girlfriends by cute, cuddly names, in private of course! source www.today.ng/lifestyle/girly-things-that-men-do-but-wont-admit-doing/ |

A 14-year-old boy was sentenced to life in prison for raping and killing his younger sister. Ronald Salazar raped and killed his 11-year-old sister, Marina Estefani Salazar, in Florida. However, Salazar, who is now 24 years old, is heading back to court for resentencing after the Supreme Court barred mandatory life sentences for juveniles. The decision was made after research showed that young people’s brains are more susceptible to impulses and to the influence of others. At his first trial, Salazar told the court that he had been abandoned by his parents when they made their way to the United States from El Salvador. He said that he was left with an abusive family until he was 10 years old, when his family finally called him to make the three trip through the Arizona desert and join them in Miami, where he was treated as an outcast. The boy said that when he finally arrived in the United States, he did not feel welcomed by his parents, Samuel and Nuvia Salazar. They allegedly told him that they had a more difficult life than him, and therefore, he did not have the right to complain. Salazar said that he was mentally scarred by his parents’ decision to abandon him in El Salvador, where he was sexually abused since the age of 7, and by their lack of acceptance when he finally reunited with them. During the trial, the court heard that he hated his parents and killed his sister as an act of revenge. It took a jury just two hours to convict him after prosecutors presented DNA evidence and a confession. Being heartbroken is a pain that no one can understand until they have experienced it for themselves. You obviously have, therefore are aware of how fragile your heart is right now. Healing a broken heart will take time, but is not impossible, though it may feel that way at the time. It is never an easy process to go through, but with the right prescription, you will be on your way to recovery and happiness again. The first thing you should keep in mind is that it is okay to feel sad and grieve about what happened and that you are not stupid for doing so. It is perfectly normal to feel sad and cry after a break up. You have invested most of your time and all of your love and interest into your ex-partner; therefore will go through a sad and painful withdrawal. It is notable that you not grieve all on your own. Sure, there will be times when you will just want to be alone and undisturbed. However, it is important that you talk to your friends and family about it. Talking about it is not only healthy, but will mend your heart quicker because you will release the thoughts and facts that are hurting you so much. Seeking professional advice will be a great help to you as well because your mind will open up and see new perspectives and understandings of what happened. It will help you gather your strength, pick yourself up, and find the happiness you deserve to have. Accepting the fact that you and your ex-partner are no longer together is a necessity if you are going to start mending your broken heart. If you catch yourself unable to function due to constantly thinking about your ex or repeatedly calling or visiting him or her for another chance, then chances are you are suffering from love addiction and should seek counseling. Discontinuing a serious relationship is emotionally challenging and can drive you to do things that are unhealthy for your self-being. To avoid entering such hazardous areas, keep yourself occupied. Go out with your friends and family to help get your mind off the break up. It is best to spend as less time alone as you can in the first few weeks of your breakup so that your emotions can slowly and patiently form back into their normal pattern. Fight the thoughts that tell you that you are a failure and are to blame for the end of your relationship. When a relationship ends it means that the two of you were no longer compatible and that always takes two, not just you. Instead of beating yourself up over what has transpired, examine your ex-relationship by listing the things you enjoyed most about it and then the things that disappointed you and what you believe really caused the breakup. Look at the relationship as a learning experience and an opportunity to improve your relationship skills, and a way to realize what you truly need and want from a romantic relationship. |
