PoliticsBuhari’s Illness Has Taken A Toll On His Health, Visiting Governor Says by Henrychiz(op): 2:07am On Jul 27, 2017
One of Nigeria’s state governors who met with President Muhammadu Buhari in London on Wednesday said this evening he was delighted to see the national leader in person after so many weeks of uncertainty.

He told SaharaReporters anonymously that the delegation of seven governors found Mr. Buhari to be “much better shape than earlier speculated,” and in full control of his faculties.

“Yes, the illness had a taken a toll on his health,” he said, describing Buhari’s walk as “okay” if his advanced age is factored in.

Of the president’s speech, “I did not notice any remarkable change in his voice,” the governor declared.

He said he and his colleagues enjoyed a sumptuous lunch at Mr. Buhari’s residence before their departure but did not clarify whether the president participated in the meal, or how long they were with him.

“We met one of your correspondents hanging around at the gate asking questions on whether the President is going to return home in two weeks,” he said of SaharaReporters.

The governor further said that members of his delegation believed Mr. Buhari should follow the advice of his doctors and not be stampeded into rushing back home.

“After all, he has left the country in a very capable hand, fiercely loyal, competent, cerebral and unambitious,” he said, referring to Acting President Yemi Osinbajo.

President Buhari is thought to be suffering from cancer, but he has refused to disclose his diagnosis. Wednesday marked the 80th day of his “medical vacation” in the United Kingdom.

Crime'my Wife Got Pregnant For Her Boss, Aborted Without My Knowledge' by Henrychiz(op): 11:50am On Jul 26, 2017
My name is Bolaji, a 42-year-old married man with four children, though I must say I cannot vouch for the paternity of two of the children.

My fear over their paternity arose following my wife's adulterous lifestyle. Bimpe has always been cheating on me but because I come from a broken home, I kept tolerating her as I did not want my children to go through that route.

But it comes a time in a man's life when he has to take some decisions no matter how painful it may seem and I have now come to the time where I have to let go to save myself from the embarrassment I get from my family and friends who all know what she does.

The last straw that broke the Camel's back was when she got pregnant for her boss in the office and carried out an abortion that almost claimed her liafe.

I was at work when I was called by a strange number with the person identifying himself as a doctor at a private hospital, requesting that I should come immediately.

My first fear was that one of my children was rushed there but when I asked the doctor what the emergency was, he declined to tell me but insisted I must come immediately as it was a life and death situation.

I managed to drive to the hospital with great trepidation and wild thoughts raging in my head. When I got there, the doctor took me to his office and told me that my wife was rushed to the hospital and that an urgent surgery had to be conducted on her or she would lose her life.

When I asked the doctor what the problem was, the man berated me seriously, asking why I should encourage my wife to get an abortion from a quack doctor which has destroyed her womb and if it is not removed immediately, she could die.

I was taken aback and told the doctor that I did not know what he was talking about. I, however, told him to take me to see Bimpe and when I was alone with her, I asked her who got her pregnant and when she had the abortion.

She broke down and started by asking for my forgiveness before she could confess. When I assured her I would forgive her, she said it was her boss who got her pregnant and she had to do an abortion before I could notice the pregnancy.

To cut a long story short, I had to sign the consent forms for the surgery to be carried out to save her life but I made it clear to her that this would be the end of the marriage.

Since she was discharged from the hospital, she has been living with her parents and as much as they have been begging me to forgive her and take her back, I have made up my mind to divorce her.

Have I taken the wrong step so far?

Politics6 Pdp Governors To Visit Buhari In London For Lunch [see Names] by Henrychiz(op): 5:34pm On Jul 25, 2017
The presidency has scheduled a visit between six governors elected under the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and President Muhammadu Buhari in London today, Punch reports.

This is coming after an unannounced visit by APC governors a couple of days ago.

The visit is believed to have been organized by the office of the National Security Adviser, Major General Babagana Munguno (retd.).

Here are identities of the governors to visit the president:

Udom Emmanuel (Akwa Ibom)

Dave Umahi (Ebonyi)

Abdulaziz Yari (Zamfara)

Abiola Ajimobi (Oyo).

The others aren't known. Yet.

One of the governors expressed sadness that some of his colleagues weren't picked by the presidency.

“Our colleagues are going to London to see the President. But I’m not happy that someone like the Governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, or his Rivers State counterpart, Mr. Nyesom Wike, is not on the delegation", he said.

The governors will have lunch with the president before returning to Nigeria like their APC counterparts.

PoliticsThe Fall Of Biafra Should Teach Us Something – Charly Boy by Henrychiz(op): 3:20pm On Jul 23, 2017
Why the Justice Oputa Foundation?

Why not? Because the late Justice Chukwudifu Oputa bequeathed a legacy of incorruptibility to this nation; it’s on record.

And that legacy and value, today, is extremely scarce. So, what better way to champion an honest cause for emancipation?

You attended one of the court sittings in Nnamdi Kanu’s case probably in a show of solidarity. But after he was granted bail, he has refused to back down on the agitation for Biafra. Do you still support his cause?

For whatever reason, no man deserves to be ill treated in his fatherland as Nnamdi Kanu was treated. Hence, my involvement in the call for his release at the time.

I am for equal rights and justice, period. Advocating for the Okada community doesn’t make me an Okada rider. Advocating for gay rights doesn’t make me gay. So, agitating for Nnamdi’s release doesn’t make me a Biafran supporter.

Biafra for me is a mindset. If there were no great injustice in the land, there would be no call for Biafra. So, don’t get it twisted.

PoliticsNigeria Already Out Of Recession – Minister Of Finance, Adeosun by Henrychiz(op): 4:40pm On Jul 20, 2017
Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, has stated the country is already out of recession “to an extent.”

She said this while speaking on African Independent Television (AIT).

“We are out, we’re out to an extent and we hope that the figures will reflect the fact that we’re out. We shouldn’t focus too much on when, what we should focus on is growth. Getting out of recession is not enough, we have to grow and grow aggressively.

“The ERGP has plans that will have us seeing seven or eight percent growth and that is the kind of growth we need for our population growth and I’d like to focus less on when we’ll get out of recession,” Adeosun said.

The Minister also added that President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, recovers loot daily.

“It’s a process that we are reconciling and I’m sure that very soon, we will put out some data; I think Lai Mohammed put out some figures and since then we have improved our reconciliation methods and we have an asset tracking team.

“I’m confident that very soon we’ll put out updated figures of course recovery changes day to day because on a daily basis, money is being recovered from various places but soon we’ll put out comprehensive figures on that.

The Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha says God has relocated his headquarters to Nigeria, adding that this explains why Nigeria gets away with things that would have collapsed other countries.

Speaking while declaring open the 67th annual conference of the Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria, BON, in Owerri, he said Nigeria is a great nation and there is nothing wrong with the country.

Okorocha went on to reject the clamour for restructuring, pointing out that what Nigeria needs is to be repackaged to attract investors, hence radio and television stations in the country operating under the aegis of BON should help repackage Nigeria for consumption by the rest of the world.

While urging citizens to eschew ethnicity, tribalism, religion, which have characterised the affairs of the country, he stated that “that this nation belongs to us and we do not have any other nation on the face of the earth outside Nigeria.

So, it’s incumbent on us to fix Nigeria and make it better not only for us but for generations yet unborn”.

CrimeIn New Video, Women Kidnapped By Boko Haram Beg Nigerian Govt To Negotiate Their by Henrychiz(op): 7:05am On Jul 18, 2017
Boko Haram on Monday released a video showing some women abducted by the insurgents last month.
In the video, published by Sahara Reporters, the women pleaded with the Nigerian government to negotiate with the terrorists for their release.
The women are believed to be among 14 others abducted when the gunmen ambushed a convoy travelling under military escort along the Biu road in Borno State.
The 4:35 minutes video footage featured a hooded Boko Haram member introducing the women and thereafter asked two of them to deliver their message to the Nigerian government.
The video showed about 10 of the women who appeared traumatised but well kept.
It could be recalled that a large convoy travelling from Maiduguri to Damboa under a military escort was ambushed on June 20 by Boko Haram gunmen some 31 kilometres from Maiduguri.
Some of the travellers, including a police officer and a soldier were killed in the ambush.
Although the Borno State Police Command confirmed the attack, it refused to state the number of those taken away by the attackers.
A few days after the ambush, Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau, released a short video where he claimed that his fighters had seized more than a dozen women and “senior police officers” in the ambush. Mr Shekau said the abducted women had become his “slaves”.
The release of Monday’s video came on the same day elders of Askira Uba Local Government Area of Borno State held a press conference in Maiduguri to urge the Nigerian government to secure the release of 14 abducted women from their community.
The elders said the women were seized even though they were travelling in a police vehicle to attend a ceremony.
The abducted women are relatives of a deceased police woman whose corpse was being conveyed for burial when their convoy was attacked.
The elders lamented “the disturbing silence of the government” over the fate of the missing women.
In the Boko Haram video footage, one of the abducted women who introduced herself as Deborah Philemon, said their captors had been very nice to them, although it appeared she had been rehearsed by her captors for the speech.
“My name is Deborah Philemon. What I want to tell the people of Nigeria is that in all honesty, you (Boko Haram) have been taking good care of us since the time you picked us to this place, you have been providing care to those that were wounded.
“We have never been hungry for a single day; you give us water and all that we need to feed with. The government of Nigeria should not deny that we have been kidnapped; we are kidnapped and here we are. We thank you people that have been taking good care of us.”
After the speech by Mrs Philemon, some of the women were shown sobbing as the Boko Haram gunman standing in front of them directed the next woman to make her speech.

By James Emejo in Abuja
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Yakubu Dogara, yesterday rebuked those calling for the disintegration of the country, stating that they lacked the understanding of God’s plan for the nation.
He said: “Those who think Nigeria is a mistake, it may be because they don’t know the purpose. But if you want to know the purpose of a thing, you have to go back to the manual, and who puts the manual together? It’s the manufacturer so I would challenge them to go back to the manufacturer of Nigeria, who is God so that we can get the manual for Nigeria.
“If we were a mistake, maybe during the first civil war, this country would have disintegrated but God decided to keep this country one and God has never made a mistake.”
Speaking during a thanksgiving service yesterday at his Elect Christian Assembly Church, Nyanya, Dogara said Nigeria is not a mistake because it was God who created the her and has good plans for the people.
According to him: “Those who think Nigeria is a mistake, it may be because they don’t know the purpose. But if you want to know the purpose of a thing, you have to go back to the manual, and those who put the manual together. It’s the manufacturer. So I would challenge them to go back to the manufacturer of Nigeria, who is God, so that we can get the manual for Nigeria.

SportsEight Dead In Senegal Football Stadium Crush by Henrychiz(op): 5:55am On Jul 16, 2017
Eight people were killed during Senegal’s football league cup final in Dakar on Saturday, the sports minister told AFP, as a wall collapsed onto clashing supporters triggering a panicked stampede.
Sports minister Matar Ba said a young girl was among the dead, while around 60 injured fans had been taken to health facilities in Dakar.
He vowed “strong measures so that such an event will never be repeated in Senegal,” speaking to AFP by phone.

A mass deployment of firefighters and ambulances remained at the scene late Saturday.
An AFP journalist who attended the match described a stadium full to bursting with people for the long-awaited clash between local teams US Ouakam and Stade de Mbour.
At 2-1 during extra time, US Ouakam supporters began throwing stones at Stade de Mbour fans, causing spectators to begin vacating their seats in a rush, the journalist said.
Part of a wall supporting bleachers seating fans from both sides then collapsed, while police had begun firing tear gas and panic spread in the stadium leading to a crush.
“All of a sudden when the wall fell… we knew exactly that some of our own had lost their lives because the wall fell directly onto people,” said Cheikh Maba Diop, a witness who helped evacuate victims from the stadium and lost a friend in the tragedy.
Also speaking at the scene, football fan Mara Die Diouf said policing at the stadium had been inadequate.

“Behind crisis anywhere in the world is injustice. The solution to that crisis is justice”- Maitama Sule
During a congratulatory visit by late Alhaji Maitama Sule to the then President-Elect, Mohammadu Buhari, on 10th May 2015, he pleaded with him in the above words to be President of all Nigerians.
Sule said: ‘‘What has recently happened to Nigeria is an act of God. Nobody expected that the elections would be peaceful. Nobody expected that the elections would not lead to the disintegration of the country.

He continued: “Behind crisis anywhere in the world is injustice. The solution to that crisis is justice. The world itself can never be governed by force; never by fear. Even, never by power. In the end, what governs is the mind. What conquers is the spirit. And the weapons of the mind that conquers the spirit are justice and fair play. Don’t compromise justice with anything.
“Mr. President, I know you will not discriminate against any part of Nigeria, but I am only asking you to do justice to all the parts of Nigeria. Justice will bring about peace. Do justice to us. Do justice to them. Do justice to everybody”
President Buhari had the opportunity to reunite this country and be our own Nelson Mandela after a highly divisive election. But when in July 2015 the President Emeritus of The Fund for Peace, Dr. Pauline Baker, asked him at the United States Institute of Peace (USIP), Washington DC how he would ensure security, amnesty, peace, and inclusive development in the Niger Delta, he responded: “I hope you have a copy of the election results. The constituents, for example, that gave me 97 percent (of votes) cannot in all honesty be treated on some issues with constituencies that gave me five percent”.
Thus began Buhari’s undiluted, primitively discriminatory, and vendetta-driven leadership that has left the country more divided then ever. But when confronted by the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) on the issue of lopsided appointments, he said: “If I select people whom I know quite well in my political party, the people I have confidence in and I can trust them with any post, will that amount to anything wrong?” Pray, why did he aspire four times to lead a people he did not trust?
The Niger Delta Avengers soon responded by the bombing of oil facilities, which brought oil production to an all time low and nearly crippled Buhari’s administration. The Avengers’ message was probably this: Get resources from your preferred 97 percent to fund the 97 percent.
These retrospections were necessitated by the recent penchant of some Arewa Youth and elders, such as Prof. Ango Abdullahi and Alhaji Tanko Yakassai, to blame Igbo leaders for the Nnamdi Kanu’s separatist agitations. They justified the quit notice and derogatory/hate languages by the Arewa Youth on the Igbos on what they deemed the failure by Igbo leaders to call Kanu to order and their visits to the IPOB leader in prison.
But, at what point did some Igbo leaders start visiting Kanu in prison? Was it before or after Buhari told the world he would not release him, contrary to court orders? What did the northern elders say when Buhari became the prosecutor and jury in one? Besides, could the visits not have been part of the efforts to broker some truce between Kanu and FG? Have they quickly forgotten that it was Buhari’s obstinate, continued detention of Kanu that transformed the young man from a nobody to a cult figure among millions of Igbos, who felt unloved by Buhari regime? Has the Biafra Day sit-at-home ever seen a total compliance as the last one before Buhari’s regime?
Why blame Chief Ike Ekweremadu and South East Senators for helping to perfect Kanu’s bail and granting him audience thereafter? The northern elders and FG should be grateful to the Senators for helping them to solve a problem it created by an unlawful detention resulting in restiveness in the East. No doubt, the audience granted Kanu must have given him some elderly advice on his bail conditions. Whether he takes it is another issue.
Meanwhile, except by a stroke of providence, which saw Ekweremadu return as Deputy Senate President, the South East has no reasonable office in the present administration, from the Presidency to the legislature, and judiciary. Not even the two House Members from Imo were considered for any principal office like Majority Whip.
No Igbo man was given any meaningful ministerial portfolio. Former Chairman of one of the legacy parties that formed the APC, Chief Ogbonnaya Onu, was appointed Minister of Science and Technology, while Chief Chris Ngige, an experienced doctor, former governor and Senator was appointed Minister of Labour (Aluta). What did Ango Abdullahi and Yakassai say?
The Army, Air Force, Police, Immigration, Customs, National Security Adviser, Directorate of State Security, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and virtually all the security apparatchik are in the hands of the Muslim North, while the Igbos are totally excluded from the security table. Where were the northern elders?
Mr. Calistus Obi was removed as Acting Director General (DG) of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) four days after he was appointed and was replaced with Alhaji Haruna Baba Jauro. Former DG of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), Emeka Mba, a high flying performer, was humiliated out of office after ingeneously raising N34 billion for the Digital Switch Over. Mallam Mobibbo Kawu was appointed. Also, Mrs. Chinelo Anohu-Amazu was removed as DG of the National Pension Commission (PENCOM) midway, even though she raised the pension assets from N2.9 to N6.5 trillion in less than three years. To add salt to injury, Aliyu Dikko from North West and later Funsho Doherty from South West were nominated as her replacement in clear breach of Section 21 (2) of the Pension Act 2014, which provides that “In the event of a vacancy (for the chairman, DG or other members of board), the President shall appoint a replacement from the geo-political zone of the immediate past member that vacated office to complete the remaining tenure.” What did northern elders say?
The Igbos took to the streets in the face of Kanu’s ill-advised arrest/continued detention and the administration’s 97 percent/5 percent apartheid policy.
