Lawyer and President-General of Save Rivers Movement, Charles Aholu, has accused Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike, of spending N300 million to purchase two bulletproof 'mobile offices', Aholu made the allegations in a Facebook post on Monday February 29th. Wike has not reacted to the allegation. Read what Charles Aholu wrote... YOUR EXCELLENCY, WHAT IS THE COST OF YOUR LATEST SWAG? Dear Sir, I write you this letter as a concerned indigene of our beloved Rivers State. I did not set out to write because like other eletronic vuvuzelas, I desire to scout for cheap popularity. Trust me, my intentions are quite noble. I may be unable to unlace your sandals, but I am sure that I can draw your attention to those matters which merits your commendation and condemnation, so that your appetite for princely robes, real estates, automiles and bank-breaking acholic beverages can be put in check. Please sir, don't be mad at me for revealing the golden nature of your taste. It is not in doubt that you are a man with a grand appetite for grandeur. that is not a secret at all. From your acquisition of choiced properties during your reign as Chief of staff to your former boss now turned enemy, to your accession to the laudable comforts of porsh automobiles, you have displayed an affection for luxury worthy of emulation by aspiring politicians who see you as a role model. But my worry sir, is that you have decided not to put your taste for these automobiles in check. I recently heard that you acquired two bullet proof mobile offices reportedly worth three Hundred million naira (N300, 000, 000. 00). If my records serve me right, you are the first governor to have purchased these luxury mobile offices in Nigeria. I know that by this purchase, you have shot Rivers State into the exclusive class of States in the world with a world class throttling office good enough to feed several families and for which great operational expenses would be incured. Bravo sir! Your swagger and 'prudence' are worthy of emulation. What defies wonder is that you chose to buy two (2) of these sexy automobiles at a period of auterity and great economic strain when your government has for the same reason, discontinued the Rivers State Oversea Scholarship for want of funds. That you chose to purchase these offices at a period when salaries are yet to be paid and when the dollar is sky-high for want of local investment is a testimonial of your 'frugality and great economic marks-manship. You are indeed a modern wonder! Please sir, permit me to ask you just one or two questions. What is the cost of this your recent swag? I hope the amount will not be eshrouded in mystery? I hope it will not suffer the Same fate as the 2016 Appropriation Bill which has remained a privately classified document? Let me congratulate you once again for inflicting your kingly taste on the good people of Rivers State. You have proven yourself a good son worthy of emulation and have broken every record of economic frugality in an era of austerity. Please accept my warmest regards! Yours Sincerely, Aholu Charles C. The strident calls by the IMF and some foreign interest for Nigeria to devalue its currency and the artificial spike in forex rate created by Bureau De Change operators appears to have tanked. This has been linked to a complex and integrated currency management approaches deployed by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). According to a top source in the apex Bank, “The aim of CBN is to ensure that the divergence between the official and parallel rate does not exceed N3, so we are looking at a parallel market rate of N200/$ because the downward trend in the pressure on the naira will be sustained.” “The CBN has the capacity to sustain the downward pressure and will deploy further currency management initiatives, while capitalising on fiscal policies of the federal government to remain in support of non-devaluation of the Naira. The current stand of the federal government on Nigeria’s legal tender is Non-Devaluation. It will be unwise for anybody to be hoarding dollars because we can assure you that Naira appreciation is going to trend upwards going forward.” So far, the CBN in a bid to manage the pressure on supply has deployed over $11.7billion to support Agricultural Sector, SMEs, manufacturers and others. This has reduced patronage of black market by end-users and has forced rent seekers to dump the greenback thereby creating a dollar-glut in the black-market. The source noted that it has been observed that most of the imports that were draining forex resources have since found local substitutes with attendant savings in forex and shortage of demand for the greenback, which was fuelling the pressure, this is also coming on the heels of the CBN instruction to commercial banks to publish allocation of forex to end-users, this has in recent times ensure that real sector of the economy and genuine users for education and medicals have been able to access forex at official rate. In the same vein, industry analysts have described the development as a game changer for majority of local manufacturers in Nigeria. The manufacturers acknowledged that the impact of CBN policy on forex since, its inception has more than double their productive capacity, with attendant benefits in terms of expansion to meet increasingly higher demands for their products and services. The Analysts said, “Conveniently, since the CBN foreign exchange policy came into existence, production capacity by local manufacturers has increased from 50%- 70%. This has impacted on their propensity to increase exports with higher volumes which is expected to also earn Nigeria commensurate higher foreign exchange earnings.” Speaking further, the analysts are of the opinion that the policy has helped the local manufacturers to realise the urgent need to expand because of increasing demands for their products. Some of the manufacturers have submitted proposals for expansion and creation of new manufacturing plants, which the CBN has agreed to provide commensurate foreign exchange requirements to finance such ventures that will create employment and improve Nigeria’s capacity to attract more foreign exchange earnings. The analysts also revealed that some of the local manufacturers are now developing capacity to also attract foreign investors, who are exploring investment opportunities in local firms to enjoy economies of scale and direct access to some of the raw materials required for production without increasing the cost of production. http://www.lindaikejisblog.com/2016/02/keepthenairagrowing-cbn-targets-n200.html |
Freeze took to his IG page to express his feelings on Jumoke Orisaguna instant rise to fame with various endorsements while Ayodele who finished with a 5.0 CGPA from the University of Lagos isn't getting any deal. Continue below... Before Ayodele, no one had 'EVER' finished with a perfect CGPA in UNILAG!!! Since it was established in 1962, he made history by becoming the first to achieve such a commendable feat! Now, so many questions come to mind. How come my dear friend Kunbi of 'April with Kunbi' hasn't styled him or recommended him for styling? How come CNN hasn't done a story on him? How come his life isn't documented on blogs daily? How come he isn't a brand ambassador for any product? The questions are ceaseless. Ciara put up a post of an equally beautiful traffic hawker selling some type of fruit yesterday and she was described, in Ciara's own words as 'beautiful and talented'. If these two 'hawker beauties' were discovered less than 2 months apart, it means that beautiful girls that hawk commodities aren't in short supply in Lagos. While people who finish with with a 5.0 CGPA are almost non existent! It took 54 years to produce the first one! While Olajumoke and this other lady are rough stones that could be polished to achieve a lustrous shine, Ayodele is a true jewel, a rare yellow diamond in its truest and purest form. Let's not let our 'poverty mentality', that makes things of lesser importance seem valuable, cloud our judgement. I have no objection to polishing stones to bring out their shine, but please let's not do it at the expense of gems of inestimable value! The outcome of our future depends largely on 'what' or 'whom' we invest in. If Japan, Switzerland or America invested their time and money in pretty bread sellers, we won't have the brains behind their automotive, aeronautic, horological or financial achievements today. I'm not saying we shouldn't celebrate Olajumoke o! Before people call me a hater but like hell we must celebrate Ayodele first! Just my thought on a Saturday evening http://www.lindaikejisblog.com/2016/02/freeze-questions-jumokes-instant-rise.html |

This topic should make front page because not too long ago when Dasuki was re-arrested by the DSS on fresh charges after he was granted bail by the courts on charges brought against him by the EFCC,many wailers came out criticizing PMB led fed govt for disobeying court orders without trying to first understand the details of the case Similar thing also happened in the case against Nnamdi Kanu Now the courts have denied Nnamdi Kanu bail and also absolved the PMB led Fed govt of any wrong doing in both cases and the wailing wailers are silent Also Tompolo has gone into hiding and has refused to obey COURT ORDER to appear and defend himself against charges that have been filed against him....Wailing Wailers why have you all been silent?..why have you all not raised your voices to shout that Tompolo should obey court orders ![]() |
Justice Husseini Baba of the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Maitama, Abuja, yesterday February 8th, said the Federal government and operatives of the EFCC have not in anyway violated court order following his continued detention even after meeting his bail condition. At the hearing of an application by Dasuki asking the court to stop DSS from detaining him, the presiding judge, Justice Baba, said his continued detention by DSS is not in anyway a contempt of court proceeding as he was arrested on fresh charges by the DSS the day he fulfilled his bail condition in December 2015 “At the end, it is my view that the application filed on behalf of the first defendant does not have any merit and I hold so. I therefore dismiss same. From paragraphs 6 and 7 of affidavit in support of this application, it is clear that after the first defendant/applicant satisfied the terms in Exhibit ‘Dasuki 2’ he was released from Federal prisons on December 29, 2015 at this point the order of the court, as far as I am concerned, which was directed at the Comptroller of Prisons, was in my view complied with. If the EFCC re-arrested the first defendant thereafter, it makes, subject to the circumstances of such arrest, an interference with due administration of justice but it cannot be a disobedience to the order of the court to release the applicant on bail. The reason is because in making the order of bail in favour of the first defendant, this court did not make any order against a re-arrest.”he said The judge ruled that since it had been confirmed that Dasuki was being held by the Department of State Services, DSS, which “is a stranger” in the case, the EFCC which is prosecuting Dasuki and his co-accused could not be said to have violated the bail order. Dasuki is being tried for misappropriation of $2.1 billion arms deal. http://www.lindaikejisblog.com/2016/02/judge-says-efcc-hasnt-erred-in.html |
You have a shallow brain and you think with your anus Lordave:If anyone should talk about economic policies and the decline of the Naira it shouldn't be Sanusi. He still remains one of the worst economic policy makers in the history of Nigeria. I can't believe he's talking about devaluing the Naira. In the developed nations when currencies are devalued, it is to encourage exports, because the prices of local products serve as an incentive and a toast for foreign buyers. In the process, they earn foreign exchange, increase production and create additional jobs. Unfortunately, that is not the position with Nigeria. Oil is our major export and with the price of oil so low there are more supplies than demand. Can someone tell me how devaluation at this crucial stage will yield any positive effect for Nigeria? Unless we anticipate rise in oil prices and Saudi Arabia, Iran and Russia decreasing oil production |
