Politics / Re: Nigeria To Halt Importation Of Solar Panels by HenryWilliams(m): 12:02pm On Mar 26
RepoMan007:
If the Nigerian made solar panels are so good, let them export it and make some dollar profit instead of creating a new cabal in renewable energy. You need to see the eay people are ditching useless NEPA for renewables.

Very soon Nigeria will be the most renewable energy reliant country in the globe.

This is the reason why they want to ban the importation.
More and more residences and business are going fully or partially solar, removing themselves from the Grid. Ordinarily this should be good news to The DISCOs as demand is low..however due to their gross inefficiency, estimated billing is their bread and butter , so with more people off the grid, lesser revenue is being made.
By the time 30% of their customers are on Solar, demand for power is low, and their revenue plummet that's why they're rushing to FG to save them from Solar
They once tried to introduce a form of informal tax on residences with Solar installation, going from house to house searching for Solar panel installation and serving them loss of revenue notice..the reaction they got from people put paid to that
So this is how they intend to keep us in darkness..
Ban the importation and stifle the market.
They know local production can never match demand in a million years..and definitely inferior products at inflated costs..another rice dilemma.

Travel / Re: Lagos To Install 3,000 E-Police and Speed Limit Cameras by HenryWilliams(m): 11:45am On Mar 26
naptu2:

This isn't the first time that they are installing cameras. They've had this sort of cameras for more than ten years. They are simply installing 3,000 more cameras.

These cameras are more of the Speed limit type. LASG has also increased the ANPR camera in more locations across Lagos.

When your vehicle is flagged and booked and you're unable to renew your vehicle documents without clearing the bill..

Then you'll know how it will be enforced

What about a recall process that requires "crucial" meeting? Is she more important than the remaining 108?
Isn't there a laid down procedure for it? So why the "crucial meeting?
Why making it look bigger than what it actually is.
Nigerians just love playing to the gallery and it sickens me.
Crime / Re: Police Officer Runs Mad, Shot And Killed 4 People In Calabar (video) by HenryWilliams(m): 3:19pm On Mar 23
Dogalmighty17:
He ran mad but still had presence of mind enough to remove the safety of the gun, cock, aim and fire?

And how did the situation end? It is sad that Nigeria has a whole has no emergency response number to call to tackle issues like this.

I gave up on Nigeria again yesterday. The taxi I took in Abuja yesterday passed under Apo bridge. That very busy area where cars stop to take passengers going to Mararaba and Nyanya.

Just off the road to the left, lay the body of an elderly man who had been hit by a hit and run driver. I gathered that the man had been lying like that for hours. You could see he was trying to move his head at least. His body was immobile. Probably a spinal injury. He was bleeding. He was unconscious but I really couldn't tell.

The most that was done for him was that they placed a few leaves close to him as a warning to vehicles approaching but you could see from how close he was lying to the road, it was only inevitable that another vehicle was going to drive over him. No one was bothered. People were just going around their business. No one called for help on his behalf.

Beside me, was an officer of the Nigerian army and in front was a policeman. I asked the soldier was there not anything that he could do? Call for help for the man? The police in front responded that what's the point? No hospital was going to accept him anyway. The soldier then told the driver to drive off after glaring at me.

I was silent through out the trip. My spirit shaken. That man lying there was a father, a husband.. People somewhere were waiting for his return. But there he lay. Dying the death of a dog. His family will think he was delayed by work or traffic not knowing that their father layed by the road side bleeding out and everyone acted indifferent.

It then dawned on me. Nigeria lost its humanity long ago. That's the only way to understand how the country got to where it is.

Your statement is childish and extremely in poor taste.
You want Nigerians to help an accident victim in Nigeria and get arrested for hit and run?
Aren't you in this country?
Don't you know how it goes?
You think people don't want to help but the system has taught Nigerians to do so is extremely dangerous.
Is it not in this country, gunshot victims are not treated until a police report is provided, despite that , some hospitals don't treat and even if they treat, they request for money ..is it the good Samaritan that would fork out thousands of naira for treatment?
Listen, I really don't want to insult your lineage this afternoon..better modify that stupid statement you made.
Sports / Re: Great George Foreman Is Dead At 76 by HenryWilliams(m): 10:54am On Mar 22
In 2022, two women accused Foreman of sexually abusing them when they were minors in the 1970s, according to lawsuits filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court. Foreman denied the allegations, and in March 2024 filed a court declaration requesting that one of the lawsuits was tossed out. CNN has previously reached out to representatives for Foreman for comment on allegations of sexual abuse and assault.

Foreign Affairs / Re: Congo Offers Trump Minerals Deal In Exchange For Military Aid by HenryWilliams(m): 3:20pm On Mar 21
fredoooooo:
Africa Where's your pride

There's none..
Africa pride died in the early 90s with the decline of Nigeria.
Nigeria has always been positioned by destiny to be Africa's bedrock, the bastion of regional and continental stability..
Like a wise man once said..
'if Nigeria goes
Africa goes"
The roles we played in the regional stability back in the 90s had a calming effect on ECOWAS ( go ask Liberia and Sierra Leone). They have stories to tell about ECOMOG. Even when France was egging on her French Colonies to act against our interest..we were always the "big brother" in West Africa.
The 60s saw us in this same Congo leading UN peacekeepers, they feared the Nigerian soldiers like kilode. The white mercenaries employed had a healthy fear of Nigerians so much that few opted to fight for Biafra during the Civil War.
Somalia in 1993 won't forget the Nigerian soldiers that fought the militants to a standstill whilst the Americans turn tail and ran away..
Ask the Somali, they hate,.loathe and fear Nigerians till date.
This same Nigeria was in Sudan too.
Fighting the janjaweid rebels, destroying most of em before being recalled back to limit the destruction meted out to them.
In 1983, Chadians tried their brand of madness on Nigeria, the NA invaded that country and almost reached their capital before Buhari ordered their retreat..the swiftness and crushing destruction meted out to Chad still rings bells in the Sahel states. No one has ever dared Nigeria again militarily.
Congo can do better by inviting Nigeria to provide security for their country, we have the men, the weapons and I'm suspecting the NA needs a good warmup exercise. It won't take 2 weeks to decimate M23 and roll into Rwanda.
Congo doesn't need to sell its people to slavery cos that's what it means to invite the US into your country..that country will never know peace until they leave. Ukraine will soon find out the hard way..
I trust Nigeria..
We will act the big brother and liberate Congo from these M23 rebels and not collect a kobo from them..
The West knows our potential as a comtinential leader and fear a strong Nigeria in Africa.

So because Lagos city was the former capital of Nigeria, Lagos State should now employ from every tribe in Nigeria?
Calabar was once a Federal Capital..is Cross River hiring from all tribes?
Enugu was once the capital of Eastern Region, how many non - Enugu Nigerians even non Enugu igbos are in it's Civil Service?

Politics / Re: How Can We Stop Politicians From Looting Public Funds by HenryWilliams(m): 1:52pm On Mar 15
We know what to do..
It's tribalism that's holding us..
When one politician/thief is caught..
His people will come out with placards,
Screaming witch hunt..
Everyone is protecting their own sons and daughters in government when they steal and loot
The day we can all condemn the actions of politicians regardless of tribal affinity, this country will heal.
There's no country that doesn't have corrupt govt officials and politicians, but Nigeria seems to celebrate theirs, giving them red carpet welcomes, chieftancy titles and political appointments..
I'm not surprised we elect garage touts as Speakers, agbero as Union Leaders, drug convicts as Governors and President, psychotics as Ministers.
Until we follow the Chinese way (the best way)
Once you steal govt money or you enrich yourself anyhow, a bullet to the head.
Or we re-introduce the "Bar Beach Show" of years past,
That would cure the Nigerian madness quickly

After committing this evil they tell affonjja media to run propaganda that they Biafrran troops were killing their own people. They tried to spin the same with Ibibio massacre by Adekunle, Ibibio people insisted these were done by a Yorubaa officer in broad daylight.

There are videos of Bafrans murdering Bini people during their invasion of the MidWest.

People get mind oo to even cut the power cable.

No wander we have not been getting light in our area

Cut 330kv wire?
Do you know what 330kv means?
Nothing alive except for some plants can live anywhere near that zone..
Something that would be crackling with static electricity.
The lines snapped cos of old age.
Most of the transmission lines haven't been replaced since the 70s. They were installed during early to mid 70s when the Grid experienced a boom and rapid expansion, since then, it's the same towers, cables and step down transformers we've been using.
TCN is the most useless of the bunch. They carry out no routine maintenance or replacement or old parts.. most of their equipment are decades old when demand for power was probably less than 2GW back in the day. Those wires ought to have been replaced years ago.
I foresee more 330kv lines snapping in due course. Most have reached their expiry period (50years).
Hope they don't start blaming terrorists and vandals for the snapping.

There's always three sides to a story.

His story
And the Truth.
You never hear his side, already started condemning cos woman talk am?
From her story, it's obvious the divorce included her taking responsibility of the child till 18 years.
Isn't that what she wanted?
Now the going isn't as smooth especially in this economy, you now want him to take over responsibility not stated in the divorce.

Explain that to Western Police.
Their society is wired and biased against men when it comes to stuff like this. Have you been living under a rock?.
When women are tired of the marriage/relationship, they go this route , pick up a quarrel, expand it, taunt the man, physically attack him so as to get a response, he does, she claims assault, he gets thrown out arrested and charged. He loses his hoise,, job, pays alimony and child support etc, while the woman is free to do whatever she likes.
