from killing of innocent people to certificate forgery..Let the prosecution begin.. Former military President of Nigeria and Presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress of Nigeria, General Muhammadu Buhari during a live telecast in Chatham House, London of America, stated that he is a converted democrat and is ready to accept responsibility for his past deeds. Read his full statements below… Buhari whose past has been widely condemned and is being used against him in the 2015 election campaign by some analysts, has created fear in the minds of many as they say he might repeat the same attitude when he gets to power. It would be recalled that recently, his running mate, Pro. Yemi Osinbajo, was at the home of son of late Afro-beat legend, Fela Kuti, Femi Kuti, to discuss and get his opinion on certain things affecting the country and after the talks, Femi emphasized that he was not ready to vote and was not in support of any political party. While relaying the outcome of the meeting on his social media page, a question was asked if the Prof. apologized for the maltreatment of the Kuti family during the military era, Yeni responded that the Kutis were not in position to forgive except he goes to meet their late father, Fela, to beg for forgiveness. As the fear continues in the heart of some Nigerians,Nigeriafilms.com watched the former military President solemnly accepting his past responsibilities in a worldwide telecast stressing that he is a changed person who is out to make a difference for his country. In his words, "Permit me to close this discussion on a personal note. I have heard and read references to me as a former dictator in many respected British newspapers including the well regarded Economist. Let me say without sounding defensive that dictatorship goes with military rule, though some might be less dictatorial than others. I take responsibility for whatever happened under my watch." "I cannot change the past. But I can change the present and the future. So before you is a former military ruler and a converted democrat who is ready to operate under democratic norms and is subjecting himself to the rigours of democratic elections for the fourth time," he added. http://newsflash9ja..com/2015/02/i-am-ready-to-accept-responsibilities.html |

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State, Chief Olusola Oke has urged Nigerians to support the re-election bid of President Goodluck Jonathan, saying he is the best among his contemporaries. He noted that there is nothing bad in asking for a change, but change is already taking place in Nigeria because those things that were not happening before are now happening. Oke who spoke with LEADERSHIP in Akure, the state capital, said no other president had worked in the kind of difficult environment that Jonathan had worked in. The former governorship candidate of PDP in 2012 said, “I believe that Jonathan remains the best option for us today in Nigeria because he is not a product of any organised system or cabal, but he had been able to liberate himself and whether people like it or not, there is no other president that had worked in a difficult environment like Jonathan had been made to work. “Look at what is happening in the North East; it is enough to derail any president. Most of the other presidents, I respect their persons and I respect their accomplishments but nobody had worked in difficult terrains or circumstances like Jonathan. This notwithstanding, we can speak of his monumental achievements”. “What is important about human being is dignity and human liberty. No president has preached and practiced rule of law in this country like Jonathan. And in term of reshaping our economy, from what am told, am not an economist, I am told today that Nigeria is the biggest economy now in Africa. It wasn’t like that long time ago, and it has been attested to by experts all over the world that Nigeria is the biggest economy and one of emerging economis in the world. “If the president has put us in the right pedestal, I believed that we don’t change a working format. So, Jonathan had advantage.” Look at infrastructure, I have opportunity to travel recently on Benin- Ore road, since I was born, I have never see that road in that kind of shape. It is the best road you can see anywhere in the world courtesy of the transformation agenda. Lagos- Ibadan express way, establishment of universities, even if we should not give those one to him, what about the rail system that was dead long time ago. Today rail has provided good, dependable source of transportation in Nigeria. “The effect of that is that, it would reduce the pressure and cost on our roads because most of the heavy goods that have been transported on land can now go through rail. He has revived that even, if you are not acknowledging that, what about the aviation system, anybody coming to do business in Nigeria, the first contact is your airport. I attest to this, am a regular user of airports. They have changed from decay of the past and are working very well. They don’t produce but they get money by begging. That is what Jonathan is trying to reduce in the North because it is more or less like a culture in the north which has now transferred to this part of the country. “You can mention in terms of roads, health sectors, is it the scandal in fertilizer that he has permanently put to rest that you want to talk about?, is it the diversification of our economy, if you look at our income today in Nigeria, that oil is no more accounting for 80 and 90 percent it used to be in the past and there are other sectors of the economy now contributing. The power sector, even though we have not started reaping fully the benefit of the privatization. “The truth of the matter is that government has no business being in business. That is the practice of all over the world. Many governments tried it in the past, it could not be done, Jonathan has solve that one. So, to me, I don’t believe in personality destruction, Buhari is undoubtedly a senior citizen and eminent Nigerian, but does have the capacity, strength at this time?, because the office of the president, I’m told is very demanding and challenging,” he stated. He maintained that the next president of Nigeria should be somebody even younger than Jonathan, saying If we are going back to 70s when will it be my time and your turn? he asked. http://leadership.ng/news/413994/jonathan-remains-best-option-for-nigeria-oke |
