The International Criminal Court (ICC) said on
Monday it would prosecute any Nigerian
political actor linked to the commission of
violence before, during and after the
country’s general election.
ICC, in a statement issued by its Prosecutor,
Fatou Bensouda, urged parties to the peace
accord signed recently in Abuja to abide by
their commitment to maintain peace.
Bensouda noted that the ICC has jurisdiction
over Rome Statute crimes committed on the
territory of Nigeria or by Nigerian nationals
from July 1, 2002, onwards.
He said crimes under the jurisdiction of the
ICC had already been committed in this
context, as reflected in a preliminary
examination report published by his office in
December 2014.
The ICC prosecutor said a team from his
office was on its way to Nigeria prior to the
elections to further engage with the
authorities and encourage the prevention of
crimes.
Part of the statement read: “On February 14
and 28, Nigerians are set to participate in
general and state elections in the Federal
Republic of Nigeria. “Nigerian presidential
candidates and political leaders recently
signed a pact committing themselves, their
parties and their followers to refrain from
violence before, during and after these
elections. I urge them to consolidate this
commitment.
“At a time when abhorrent levels of violence
already plague parts of the country, I recall
that the ICC has jurisdiction over Rome
Statute crimes committed on the territory of
Nigeria or by Nigerian nationals from 1 July
2002 onwards.
“Crimes under the jurisdiction of the ICC have
already been committed in this context, as
reflected in my pffice’s preliminary
examination report published in December
2014. Further analysis is on-going to
determine the next steps that my office
should take in accordance with its duties
under the Rome Statute.
“Experience has shown that electoral
competition, when gone astray, can give rise
to violence and in the worst case scenarios,
even trigger the commission of mass crimes
that ‘shock the conscience of humanity.’
“Any person who incites or engages in acts
of violence including by ordering, requesting,
encouraging or contributing in any other
manner to the commission of crimes within
ICC’s jurisdiction is liable to prosecution
either by Nigerian courts or by ICC.
“No one should doubt my resolve, whenever
necessary, to prosecute individuals
responsible for the commission of ICC
crimes.”

acidtalk:
Fellow compatriots the time has come again to decide our future and the future of our generation even yet unborn.

In about a week from now, we will be taking a decision to determine how things will play out in our lives in the next four years and beyond.

Have you decided on who you want to trust in handling the Security, Economy, Youth Development, Healthcare, Education, and General improvement of the affairs of Nigeria and its citizens? If you haven’t now is the time to realize something.

1) We trusted the last 6years into the hands of a man who people felt his “luck” might bring Luck to the land because of the way he has always risen to power but unfortunately, one man’s favour from God isn’t enough to bring about solution to the land.

2) A man who travels abroad for the slightest flu while ignoring the healthcare system of the entire nation

3) A man whose 6years in power could boast of ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.

4) A man whose campaign was based on personal attacks on his opponent about events that too place OVER 30YEARS AGAIN. Whereas can not boast of achieving anything in the last 6years.

5) A man who claims he doesn’t give a DAMN about not declaring his assets and also claims STEALING IS NOT CORRUPTION

6) A man who gallivants with corrupt past and present individuals while ignoring honest and upright individuals in the land.

7) A man who can defend supposed militants in the October 1st Abuja bomb attack only to come several years later to LIE that the same militants he defended years back attempted to kill him just because the militants are not in support of his government.

8 ) A man whose wife controls almost all critical national issues. Fellow Nigerians ask yourself this question and be honest about it; “can Michael Obama debate of political, security, and governance issue in America? But yet we see nothing wrong in Patience Jonathan peddling into national issues.

9) A man whose ONLY achievement in 6years is boasting of some outdated railway construction that 98% of the Nigerian population do not make use of.

10) A man who under his watch Nigeria can’t boast of a National Carrier yet he has 5 presidential jet to his name and has helped all his associated acquire theirs.

11) A country that sells forms to unemployed Nigerians only to DUPE the same JOBLESS youths as neither the government or the agencies have any job for the youths.

12) A country whose Universities were close for over 6 months and polytechnics for over a year.

13) A country whose medical health workers go on strike all year round leading to millions of people’s sudden death.

14) A country whose citizens die in their thousands on a weekly basis without the president saying or doing absolutely nothing yet the same president sends messages to a country who lost JUST 5 citizens.

15) A president who has emptied the countries foreign reserve and yet cooks up report to hide his elicit acts

The list is endless my fellow Nigerians. This is the time to end all religious and ethnic sentiments and vote in an upright man.
A man who has NO TRACE of any corruption activities and whose associates have all performed averagely well as governors in their various states.

LETS BE WISE. OUR FUTURE IS AT STAKE. WE CAN’T AFFORD TO WASTE THE NEXT FOUR YEARS AGAIN.

VOTE OUT JONATHAN EBELE AZIKIWE BECAUSE WE HAVE TESTED HIM AND HE PROVED HE ISN’T A MAN TO GIVE A SECOND CHANCE TO.
Buhari isnt a man to give second chance to too..

ACTIONSOP:
Although, i am not a fan of any of the presidential candidates , however,I want to share this with you guys to judge, during a political interactions about Nigeria Feb.14 with some Northern colleagues of mine in Canada, this is what most of them had to say about Buhari and APC.
The reason for the massive support of buhari by the SW is very clear. APC planted Osinbajo (SW) a younger candidate as VP, knowing fully well that GMB an old fellow with health issues might not make it till the END just in case of victory at the poll.
The same principle Dr. GEJ assumed power after the death of late President Yaradua God bless his soul.

The reason why some Northerners are still doubtful about Buhari, some argued that why APC didn't choose from the majority of YOUNG ,educated and enlightened politicians as candidate from the North. If APC fans say that ONLY GMB at 73years is the man they trusted among thousands of noble candidates from the NORTHERN part Nigeria then there is a problem.
Thank you Sir

The Constitution has a process in place for any elected office holder who "steps-down"... TO BE REPLACED.

It goes from President => Vice President => Senate Leader => e.t.c

Where does Tinubu fit into all these.....or has he been elected Senate Leader?
Thank you for reasoning like a literate clown.. if Fashola and Amaechi could tell their states not to vote for Old men, why should Tinubu and APC present an illiterate Old man that has no say of his own to rule NIGERIA?. Tell me that Tinubu doesn't want to rule NIGERIA by proxy?

How can I see educated people clamouring for a Buhari presidency because of a buzz word "change" coined by An American PR expert.
Nigerians like most black people including myself can be ignorant, sentimental and non analytical.

Nigerians justice must prevail. The NIGER DELTA must feel like they are a part of the Nigerian project by US rising up on Valentine or whenever not to scuttle the ambition of this man who is trying compared to some other losers us or our ancestors have witnessed before.

These are Pastor Bakare’s own words. Where is the propaganda there? The writer is just trying to sensationalise by bringing Osinbajo’s case into it but you cannot deny what Bakare said. And if you follow the train of thought, if Tinubu’s grand ambition is to become VP, there is no better person for him to use than Osinbajo going by the strength of their relationship.

Just saying...
That is the truth.. Tinubu knows buhari can't perform so he placed osibanjo so that if they win in the dreamland osibanjo would have to step down for him. Thereby making buhari just a figure head.

2. ...If INEC Decides To Postpone The Feb 14 Poll:
Postponing and rescheduling the Feb 14 election must be in accordance to Section 132(2) of the 1999 Constitution(as amended), which posit that the Presidential election must be held not later than 30 days before the expiration of this tenure. This tenure expires May 29, hence, the election mut be held on or before April 28. However, with over 80% PVC collection rate(which may rise to 90% before the week runs out), I don't see any possibility of INEC postponing the poll. Even if they do, Attahiru Jega will still be in-charge. Jega tenure ends in June.
the date can be postponed sha......

I think a challenge between GEJ, GMB and their supporters would be ideal. first we might start off on nairaland, the two parties would present their reps. a date would fixed, critical issues would be tackled and questions would be compiled cause during the cause of the face-off there would room for questions and possible outcome will be published. This would be great, what do we think?

This clearly shows that the sabotage in the Nigerian Army has been the show stopper to this fight against Bokoharam.

The picture is clearer now. They staged the chibok attack to eliminate the option of air raids. They've termed it genocide in time past and they said the fight against Bokoharam is a fight against the north.

We should never have been one country if our security is not common interest.

Shame on the kidnappers of girls
Shame on those who made insurgency a campaign point
Shame on those who condemned the fight against BH
Shame on the enemies of Nigeria.

The fight is on and war must be won. Transformation is a must and evil forces of darkness cannot stop it.

If you are jonathan's family you are safe but if you are naturally corrupt, there are two things involved, is either you leave this country before Febuhari 14 or you remain.
