AyabaS: Does VFS send email updates when you send passport for visit visa? I recall when I sent my passport to Lagos VFS for PR visa, I got constant updates. However, my mums passport was sent on Friday Dec 3 and DHL confirmed delivery on Monday Dec 6 but there’s been no acknowledgement from VFS since then. Same here |

OloriOfMontreal: I'm PR and we applied using the new portal on Nov 10th.
Refusal: December 3rd. (So at least this 14-30 days to process is working)
Reason for refusal: Travel history and asset/financial status in Nigeria
Considering that my husband has never had any reason to travel outside Nigeria until now I don't see how they expect us to address this other than merely stating the obvious which is no reason to travel until now. Or any other suggestions?
For the financial status: this was one reason we decided not to make me the sponsor cos we didn't want to raise any flag about my husband's financial status in Nigeria. And we wanted to show that he is financially comfortable in Nigeria. Especially since he is employed and we were able to show proof of fund and good inflow/outflow of cash. So we wrote in the letter of explanation that he will be sponsoring the trip while I will provide the basics (living expenses) needed for the 3 weeks duration of his stay.
We provided substantial (or so we thought) amount of information we thought would help but maybe we need to do more. However we can't start looking for what's not lost just to prove travel history or financial status so that it doesn't become counterproductive or raise more flags.
So our next step is actually to reapply (almost immediately) for the visit visa, stating how our conditions haven't necessarily changed. So same documents. And this time with more convincing additional information and LOE.
We feel we have nothing to lose here by reapplying again.
We are also planning to put in the sponsorship application by January. We tried to avoid putting both at same time but we will likely have to settle for that, rather than just putting in a spousal application alone.
We will order our GCMS note while we concurrently put in a new visit visa application.
This 14 - 30 days process is working and we gats reap the benefit of am!
Let's all keep the faith and hope alive!
We are open to further suggestions and guidance.
Thanks. Sorry about your refusal. About the finances, instead of being specific and talking about who will be responsible for living expenses and all, why not use more general statements like during the duration of his visit, your husband will be staying with you at your address and he’ll be responsible for his own financial support…something like that. It’s just a suggestion. I wish you all the best with your next application. |

SunshineD1: Hello dear Landed Seniors, Anyone in Brandon, Manitoba? I'm yet to see/read any relevant information on Brandon from a Nigerian immigrant living there. It'll be great to read about jobs, housing, transportation, schools, childcare/daycare, where to get Naija food stuff and any other relevant information the responder is willing to put out. Thanks Is this information still needed? |

I was not comfortable with the way the job descriptions on my reference letter were listed in one of my roles that I claimed point for. So I consulted a few people on this platform (newmum and happytbaby, God will bless you both abundantly), and they agreed with me. I immediately declined the ITA and discounted that particular experience from my profile, this dropped my CRS to 439. I was initially hopeful that scores would drop to 439, but after about 2 or 3 draws, it dawned on me that scores might never drop below 440 so I reached out to newmum and happytbaby again and explained my intention to reclaim the point for that experience and support it with a detailed LOE and a lot of documentations since I actually performed the JD. They agreed with me and happytbaby volunteered to look at my LOE once drafted. After a few back and forth between happytbaby and I, we came up with a really detailed LOE which referenced a lot of additional documents. God bless you mama, I really appreciate it. I updated my profile and I was back to 464. A few days later, ITA 2 came.
POST-AOR
I submitted in June 2018 and like everyone else I prayed and was hopeful for a speedy processing. I remember the day I logged into my profile and saw that I had passed medicals, it was the best feeling in the world. Unfortunately, I was not prepared for what was coming. After, I passed medicals, I was pumped up and I immediately initiated the process of renewing my passport which was to expire in November 2018, I got the new passport about 2 days after and raised CSE to update accordingly. About two weeks later, I got a mail saying that my updated information has been passed on to the responsible office and that since my application is being processed at the Accra Visa Office, I should take note to contact them directly next time. I initially thought Accra shouldn’t be so bad as long as it’s not London. Oh was I wrong? I ordered GCMS note a few weeks after, everything appeared to be in order except of course for the fact that AVO had not touched it. By this time, I had already done a lot of research and knew what AVO was capable of. It was complete silence after this until February 2019 when the 4 famous ADR showed up (not 5 because I had submitted pay slip with my initial application). I submitted the ADR the following day and thought PPR would come shortly after. In their usual manner, AVO had other plans and PPR didn't come until almost 2 months after.
I honestly can’t thank everyone on the various AVO whatsapp groups enough. You guys are the real MVPs. All the support, encouragement and banters helped to keep me sane during the waiting period. I pray that everyone still waiting shall receive their good news soon.
SOME THINGS TO NOTE FOR FUTURE "AVORIANS"
1. AVO is not the VO for "crooked" applications like people think. so if you ever find yourself there, don't over-think it, they just like to work at their own pace. 2. Support groups are great, try to join at least one of these groups. If it becomes too much (sometimes it can be), remove yourself from the group(s) and go back after taking some fresh air. 3. A good idea is to do a certification while waiting (might not be that easy as the wait can be daunting, but just try). 4. Try not to put yourself under pressure by putting a timeline to the whole thing (PPR, departure). Trust me, AVO has a mind of their own. 5. Don't try to analyse "AVO trends" or what you think is trend, there's no one size fits all with AVO. 6. Finally, pray while waiting. This is the most important point. |

Children Practice, Ikoyi. However, ensure you get there as early as possible. Before 7am if possible so that you can put down your name before the list gets full. HighBK: Good afternoon all.
Is it possible to do the upfront medical on a Saturday? If yes, which facility works over the weekend.
Thanks |
