Three victims of the eight crew members who were feared dead in Thursday's helicopter crash at Bonny waterways in Rivers state have been recovered and airlifted to Port Harcourt.
In an exclusive video made available to our correspondent, the corpses of the three victims were seen tied to a stretcher into a waiting helicopter off an oil vessel helipad.
Operatives of the Nigerian Navy and the owners of the helicopter were seen coordinating the airlifting of the bodies as other staff members watch the exercise. Meanwhile, search for the remaining five bodies continue in the high sea by divers of the private firm and operatives of the Nigerian Navy.
The crashed helicopter was said to have departed the Air Force base in Port Harcourt and bound for Antan OML 123 field with two crew members and six passengers before it was said to have ditched into the ocean close to the company platform.
The Rivers state police command Spokesperson Grace Iringe-koko in a statement, commiserated with the families of the victims, as she acknowledged that a staff member of the firm reported the incident to the command.

Gistmedia10: A man’s shocking discovery when he returned home and heard strange noises from one of the bedrooms. Sensing something was amiss, he quietly approached with his phone camera ready, only to find his wife in an intimate act with an unfamiliar man. Remarkably, the husband kept his composure, calmly questioning the man about his presence in their home and his actions with his wife. The intruder, visibly shaken, struggled to explain, while the wife remained unbothered, seemingly unashamed by the situation.
The incident has stirred a lot of reactions online, with users sharing various takes on what they would do in the husband’s place. One commenter wrote, "I’d just push them out of my house quietly—no point risking my life over this."
Many suggested calm approaches, advising that once it’s recorded, the best course of action is to quietly separate rather than reacting in anger. “If it’s your house, ask them to leave. If it’s her house, pack your belongings and leave,” suggested one commenter, while adding that pursuing a peaceful divorce could prevent further issues.
A helicopter crash has killed four passengers, including a child, in the southern 🇺🇸 US city of Houston, authorities said, with the accident also destroying a radio transmission tower.
The private aircraft “either struck a cable or actually struck at the tower”, Houston police chief Noe Diaz told reporters.
No one on the ground was injured in the crash on Oct 20, he added, and investigations to determine the cause of the accident were ongoing.
Television footage showed burning debris on the ground after the crash, and other videos – apparently from CCTV cameras – appeared to show the helicopter approaching the tower and then bursting into flame.
John Whitmire, the city’s mayor, said the crash took place near a residential area and close to a highly flammable tank of butane.
“We are fortunate that it wasn’t worse,” he said.
Whitmire said firefighters had responded to the sound of a loud explosion, with a “fireball” visible in the air.
The helicopter had taken off from an airfield less than 18 miles (30 kilometres) from the crash site, according to authorities.
Houston, located in the state of Texas, is the fourth-largest city in the United States, with a population of 2.3 million.
