Good evening Nairalanders. This post is to formally notify the general public, riders, and our fellow drivers about the proposed industrial action by e-hailing drivers across Lagos State starting tomorrow, Monday. If you try to order a ride tomorrow and see massive surges, long wait times, or zero available cars, please understand that we are not doing this to punish riders. We are doing this because the e-hailing business in Nigeria has become a death trap for drivers, and we can no longer afford to subsidize rides with our own blood, sweat, and vehicle engines. Here is the straightforward truth about why we are shutting down the apps: 1. Crippling Fares vs. Skyrocketing PMS Prices We all know the current reality of buying fuel in Lagos today. The cost of PMS has multiplied, yet platforms like Bolt, Uber, and inDrive are still forcing drivers to accept base fares that do not even cover the fuel burnt during the trip—let alone vehicle maintenance, engine oil, or the driver's profit. We are essentially working just to give our earnings directly to the filling stations. 2. Extortionate Commissions and "Double Taxation" Despite the economic hardship, these platforms are aggressively dipping into our pockets. Many platforms are taking up to 25% - 35% or more in total deductions from our earnings. We are dealing with double taxation, where VAT is deducted on top of already high commission rates. By the time the app takes its cut, the government takes its tax, and we buy fuel, the driver goes home empty-handed. 3. Zero Security and Poor Rider Verification Drivers are being robbed, attacked, and sometimes killed because these apps refuse to implement strict KYC (Know Your Customer) policies for riders. A passenger can create a new account with a fake name and an unregistered SIM card, order a ride to a dark area, and ambush a driver. The unions, including the Amalgamated Union of App-based Transporters of Nigeria (AUATON), have repeatedly demanded that apps link rider profiles to their NIN for our safety, but the platforms continue to prioritize their volume of riders over our lives. Our Demands Before We Resume Operations We are calling on all app companies to immediately implement the following: Stop charging commission per ride and implement a subscription-based model that drivers pay daily. An upward review of minimum fares to reflect the current pump price of petrol and extreme inflation. Mandatory NIN verification for every single rider requesting a trip. Complete transparency on deductions and an end to the double taxation structure. ### To Our Fellow Drivers Do not be a saboteur tomorrow. If you go online to chase a surge while the rest of us are fighting for your future, you are only destroying your own hustle in the long run. Let us stand united. Turn off your apps. Park your cars. Let the platforms feel the heat. To The Riders We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this will cause you on a Monday morning. Please make alternative transport arrangements. We are fighting for a system where we can afford to maintain our cars, keep you safe, and actually feed our families. Solidarity forever! ✊🏾🚗 Please share this across all and social media.

None of your relatives was near you when you fall sick The hospital that have been treating you and your family don't trust you Your immediate staff can't pay the needed deposit, either because they don't trust you to reimburse them or they don't have because you don't pay them well Now you're blaming hospital that are running their business |

I always believe in this mantra "if you want anything done well do it yourself ". God forbid I marry a woman that doesn't know how to manage money prudently, but even if I do, I'll give her money to buy things needed. if she doesn't, I'll go and buy the basic essential items any other stuff she ask no concern me |
