davodyguy:It is well! It’s just very sad people still fall for those petty scammers. |
kenbabss4more:Please note that you can’t enter a plane with NZETA. NZETA is for citizens of countries with visa waiver and Nigeria is not in the list. We’ve complained about this several times. It’s just sad that people still fall victim. Of course, if someone attempt to verify it, it might show it is a genuine NZETA because they provided some false information to obtain it. It is not a valid visa to travel from Nigeria. Goodluck! |
otabuko:Below are some essential documents: An offer of place from an approved education provider. Evidence that you have paid your tuition fees. A copy of the identity pages in your passport. Academic qualifications including certificates and transcripts. Evidence of work experience (pay-slip and offer letter). Birth certificate. Proof of funds to cover your living expenses (NZ$20,000 per year, or NZ$17,000 for school years 1-13) and proof of where this money has come from. A copy of your air ticket home, or proof that you have enough money to buy one. You may need to provide a medical certificate or chest x-ray. Police clearance certificate. Visa cover letter explaining your personal circumstances with reference to all the documents submitted. otabuko:Nice one! Congratulations You can start preparing your travel documents and submit application once NZ borders are open. |
homyguy:Good to know you have all the required funds. If you have proper evidences of those funds, you may not need a sponsor. NZ borders will open by 1st if August. In the meantime, you could start arranging your documents. Check the link below for more information: https://www.immigration.govt.nz/new-zealand-visas/apply-for-a-visa/about-visa/full-fee-paying-student-visa Goodluck!!! |
Ichabodcrane:It’s fine! Just make sure you properly declare the gaps in your study. |
Mustiboy:You can but you need to be able to justify any gap you have in your study years. Like I said, you need to prepare a convincing cover letter and submit appropriate evidences. |
Shadestar:You can apply for another bachelor degree using your WAEC and previous degree. However, you need to make your personal statement is convincing. Let it contain your career goals and the reason you want to spend another 2-3 years for a new bachelor degree in the same field. |
soje1:You may not need to book any flight. If you already have a sponsor, send the INZ1014 Financial Undertaking for a Student (https://www.immigration.govt.nz/documents/forms-and-guides/inz1014.pdf/@@resource_summary) to the person to fill. Then attach the person Bank Statement and Introduction letter from bank with your application. Also, you can include a sponsorship letter from your sponsor. Goodluck! |
otabuko:You’re welcome! You can attach a photocopy of your passport and other documents they require. However, ensure that the document is directly from your university. |
otabuko:I really cannot say much on this to avoid any discouragement. Let madam @Ticha advise in this regard. |
otabuko:Well, it depends on your financial background. I know a friend who worked throughout his PhD. However, it is important to note that it’s not easy. Regarding getting Doctoral funding, I feel it depends solely on God factor, the quality of your application (research publications, previous awards, etc.), and a supervisor willing to support your application. I am recipient of the Wellington Doctoral Scholarship. The good part about NZ is that PhD students can work pretty well compared to masters students. Also, you have the opportunity to pay your fees at domestic rates. However, there might be a post-pandemic change. |
otabuko:That’s my school. Congratulations What’s your course of study? |

Ichabodcrane:You apply for the visa online then send your passport to South Africa for verification. See the links below for more information: https://www.immigration.govt.nz/new-zealand-visas/apply-for-a-visa/criteria/full-fee-paying-student-visa?nationality=nationality-NGA&country=residence-NGA https://www.immigration.govt.nz/new-zealand-visas/apply-for-a-visa/process-fees/full-fee-paying-student-visa?nationality=nationality-NGA&country=residence-NGA&applying=no&submethod=Applying+on+online+form&qs= |
Artistavin:There is actually no fixed day for the border reopening. We are all hoping for the best. You can check Stuff (stuff.co.NZ) or INZ (https://www.immigration.govt.nz/about-us/covid-19/coronavirus-update-inz-response) for news update. |
Artistavin:No! |
femijck:Mr. Femijck, thank you for your constant enlightenment in this forum. I don’t know why people are still very much keen about the Nzeta Visa. Nigeria is not a visa waiver country to NZ. See the screenshot and link below: https://www.immigration.govt.nz/new-zealand-visas/apply-for-a-visa/about-visa/nzeta

femijck:Happy new year sir |
Zpdzpd:Happy new year bro! I wish you the very best |
Zpdzpd:Ohh! Cool...the ogas in the house will be able to guide you better as regards the living expenses and survival tips. Mr. Femi or Mr. Ugosams can advise you better on this. |
Zpdzpd:That’s good! You’ve got a nice profile, I’ll suggest you write the academic IELTS because most schools won’t accept General module. University based doctoral scholarship would be your best bet. However, the school fee for PhD is cheap in NZ because the government subsidized it which allows international students to pay the same fee local students pays. In your budget, try to make allowance for 15,000 NZ dollars proof of funds for living expenses, proof of funds for inbound and outbound (over 1m naira for flight - one way (based on current rate for Qatar airways)), and the main school fee. What’s your course of study? |
Zpdzpd:I will suggest you package your PhD application well in such a way that you’ll maintain competitive advantage to get a scholarship. I assume you have a masters degree already. Here are few highlights of the things you could do: 1. Try to have publications in highly ranked journals. 2. Have good score in IELTS, make sure no band is below 7.0. 3. Volunteer in any research center to gain research experience. 4. Write a good personal statement. 5. Prepare a quality research proposal in emerging research areas that aligns with the department goals. You’re lucky to have a supervisor that is interested in you. All the best! |
Good news for masters and PhD student with visa. https://i.stuff.co.nz/national/education/300130569/international-phd-and-postgraduate-students-granted-exemption-to-enter-new-zealand |
I love your motivation! Trust me it’s achievable. First of all, do your masters in a reputable Nigerian university. You can consider Unilag or University of Ibadan. During your masters degree, ensure you graduate with a good grade and also publish papers in quality journals. After completing your masters, start looking for scholarships abroad for your PhD. It won’t be a smooth ride but there are better days. Don’t look down on yourself. Chase your dreams! Look beyond the four walls of Nigeria |
SISTERjSISTER:Amen! Congratulations |
AyaE:Congratulations! I’m so happy for you |
Fabuloski:I love your ambition and it’s achievable! Your background shouldn’t affect your aspirations in life. What’s your CGPA? Try to do the following during your NYSC: 1. Write GRE and IELTS during your NYSC. 2. Build your research skills by writing research papers and publish them in a good Journal. 3. Develop a viable research proposal. 4. Get your transcript and certificates. 5. Get your international passport. 6. Try to participate in one or two community service. For Australia, you could get research scholarship for masters then you move onward to PhD. Kindly note that it’s difficult to get full scholarship for coursework masters but it’s very possible with research scholarships. As advised earlier, try to be on look out for Commonwealth scholarships and Chevening. Lemme elaborate more on research scholarships. You’ll need to check the school department web page for lecturers that have interest in your proposed research. In preparing the proposal, you need to do an extensive literature review and identify a gap you want to work on. Organize the proposal according to the following headings as it would help your prospective supervisor understand your work: • the background • study problem, • an overview of the literature on the topic, • the gap in knowledge, • research question, • the specific objectives, • study methodology and theories to underpin the study • potential contribution to knowledge and practice and the Significance of the study. In terms of schools, you can consider the following schools because they have lot of research based scholarships: RMIT QUT Unimelb Others Lastly, don’t limit yourself to Australia alone, check other countries like New Zealand, Ireland, UK, etc. I wish you the very best. |
memunati:Congratulations! May God see you through.. |
