Celebrities, Religious Leaders Kick Against Amnesty International Proposed Legalisation Of Prostitution. August Ist 2015 A petition from the Coalition Against Trafficking in Women (CATW) that protests ‘a policy that calls for the decriminalization of pimps, brothel owners and buyers of s*x – the pillars of a $99 billion global s*x industry’ has been signed by more than 400 people, including A-list Hollywood celebrities; Anne Hathaway, Kate Winslet, and Meryl Streep along with prominent church leaders like Judah Lawrence Couch, director, National Advocacy Center of the Sisters of the Good Shepherd; Rev. Michael Carrion, Evangelical Covenant Church and National Latino Evangelical Coalition; Rev. Adrian Dannhauser, chair, Task Force Against Human Trafficking for the Episcopal Diocese of New York; Major Katie Stoops and Salvation Army. An excerpt from the letter reads, “The decriminalization of pimping, brothel owning and s*x buying, it will in effect support a system of gender apartheid, in which one category of women may gain protection from s*xual violence and s*xual harassment, and offered economic and educational opportunities; while another category of women, whose lives are shaped by absence of choice, are instead set apart for consumption by men and for the profit of their pimps, traffickers and brothel owners.” Taina Bien-Aimé, executive director of CATW, told FOX411 that Amnesty’s move to legalize prostitution would leave an already vulnerable population in even dire straits. She also commended the women for their support and stance on the issue. “These women just happen to be celebrities but they are women first.” she said “They care about women’s rights and they care about a future where violence against women doesn’t exist. We’re grateful that leaders like Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway are standing with women that are exploited rather than pimps and Johns.” Cammie Croft, the Deputy Executive Director of the group who spoke to FOX411 said, “Amnesty International has not made a decision yet on this issue. It is important to stress that given that the consultation process is still on-going, no decisions have been made,” Source: http://www.informationng.com/2015/08/celebrities-religious-leaders-kick-against-amnesty-international-proposed-legalisation-of-prostitution.html

Usually, after the show comes the party BUT in this case After JAMB comes Post UTME! The 2015 JAMB which happens to be computer based has ended on since Saturday, 21st of March 2015. For prospective university students, it goes beyond just writing your JAMB exams as it extends to the post-UTME. Therefore, selecting your choice institution is key but what’s more important is getting selected into these institutions. The process of getting admitted into your choice institution requires that you take a post-UTME exam. The post-UTME, unlike every other exam you have written, is of utmost importance hence requiring utmost preparation. These said, here are 7 tips to help you prepare for the post-UTME. 1. START REVISING AT LEAST TWO WEEKS BEFORE THE EXAM For an exam as the post-UTME, you have to bring your A-game to the table because that’s what determines your admission into the university. Pick up past questions from at least 5 years before hand, and study carefully. You should also make study notes to help organise your written materials into sub-headings, bullet points and diagrams as too much written stuff can be off-putting.. 2. REST AND AVOID EXAM ANXIETY When exams are upon you, it’s difficult for you to think about anything else. Take a few deep breaths and try as much as possible to be well rested prior to your examination day. 3. SLEEP WELL THE PREVIOUS NIGHT Sleep is very essential. In as much as you want to spend enough time revising and getting work done, it is absolutely necessary to sleep well the previous night because lack of sleep can contribute some amount of stress which might put you in a bit of instability for the exam. 4. AVOID DRINKING CAFFEINE THE MORNING OF THE EXAM Caffeine is a stimulant and even though it makes you feel good for a short term, it gives you migraine in the long run. Avoid caffeine drinks including coke, energy drinks and coffee because at the end of the day it makes you urinate and you really do not want to get up each minute to the bathroom as you write on the day. If, however, you must have coffee, try as much as possible to add enough cream to it. 5. EAT AS LIGHT AS POSSIBLE Eating too much on a regular day is not advisable for anyone because it makes one weak and lazy. Studies have also shown that students that skip breakfast experience a 20-40% of thinking skills, and so it is not also advisable to skip breakfast. But before your exam, eat as light as possible so that you don’t get too heavy and slow, or sleepy. 6. LEARN TIME MANAGEMENT Time management is key to a successful living. Stress often comes from the belief that you are running out of time to prepare; therefore by allocating time blocks for each important topic nothing will be missed and your worries will disappear. Give this a shot! 7. DEVELOP A POSITIVE MENTAL ATTITUDE & PRAY A positive mental attitude is another way to prepare for your exam. The minute you start having negative thoughts, it begins to work against you. To overcome failure, you have to first set your mind to it then back it up with prayer. There is nothing that a right attitude and prayer cannot do. I hope you find these tips helpful as you prepare for your post UTME. We wish you all the BEST! culled from 360nobs |
