Yes, you can obtain a PGD in Computer science from Unilag. A PGD is highly recommended if your end goal is to get a master's degree or even a PhD.

Note: You can't get a MSc with a professional masters degree.

I think Data Science is great but I'll welcome recommendations though.
Also I'd prefer location to be in Ikeja and environs because I currently reside in Oshodi and my budget is 40k.
I'm patiently waiting to for your recommendations.
Thanks

Drop your mail, i will send you a link.

Thanks for the response
I have zero knowledge in anything IT
Why I am considering starting undergraduate afresh

If you are very visual, go for Graphics Design, UI/UX, Video editing and Colour grading.

If coding is your thing, start with either Java or HTML, CSS and JavaScript or Python.

You can consider taking a professional certification like Comptia, CCNA, Linux administration etc.

Akosxxx:
I'm in I'm thinking Data Science or Python (I don't know anything about it but I've been seeing it recommended on online platforms).

Please can anyone suggest a good IT training school that can teach me any of these. I'm currently in Lagos

You need Python for Data Science.

As for IT schools, depends on your budget, location preference and mode of learning, there are a ton. Provide more information on the aforementioned for better guidance.

Jobs/Vacancies / Overcoming Unemployment As A Nigerian Youth. by Historicalee: 1:26pm On Oct 11, 2021
Unemployment rate in Nigeria rose from 27.1 percent to 33.3 percent from December to March 2021 and it is projected to increase further in 2022, according to the National Bureau of Statistics, NBS.

Source: Google

You are unemployed and it seems like life is literally pressing you down.

You must have heard "Get a skill" a million times, while this truly holds water, it is not as easy as it is said.

Let's fix you to get a job in 30 days.

Here are some ways to get employed especially if you are a solo ranger like me.

If you have a skill or talent, use it. Collaborate with others and develop something.

Network aggressively, there is always someone out there who needs your service.

Know how to pitch, i.e if you are a video editor, approach YouTubers and offer your service.

Market your business or skill.

About marketing your self and your talent, You know what Steuart Henderson Britt, an American professor of marketing said, He said and i quote:
"Doing business without advertising is like winking at a girl in the dark, you know what you are doing, but nobody else does"

My case isn't very different from the op the only difference is I'm in my late 20's and just realised I can't continue with my current job cos apart from the fact that my earnings are meagre I'm downright unhappy doing what I do. So here's my dilemma

Contemplating learning ux design... does it have a Nigerian Market.?
Cos honestly I'm too old to be making wrong career choices

If you can sustain yourself while learning, go for it alongside Frontend development.

Get the PGD and Masters if you can, it will come in handy.

Do these change of course actually qualify to be described as career transition? Methinks career transition is like studying and qualifying first in one career and then shifting to another entirely different career, completing your training there and going on to practice to earn a living from practicing the New career. Not starting as a chemistry student and leaving for Law via new admission or change of course. A good example of career transition can be if as a Licensed Pharmacist , you transitioned to become an Advertising Expert or Banking Professional or becoming a professional soccer player. Some years later, you may still revert back to practice as a Pharmacist but at the moment you have already attained the career and transitioned to another is what can be regarded as career transition.

True. Let's just say it boils down to doing something different from your core specialization regardless of the level you attained.

If you have a BSc in Microbiology, MSc in Medical Microbiology and you're currently the head of the human resources unit of your organization, we could still say it's a career transition for the sake of covering a broader scope in order to lend valuable insight to undergraduates, fresh graduates and other associated parties who are on the verge of making a transition.

Your observation is thoughtful, well-received and insightful. Thanks.

Had first degree in chemistry.
Didn't practice it because I got a micro finance Job after nysc. From micro-finance, I moved to commercial bank.

I got tired of banking and decided to learn coding (website and mobile app development).

Found myself in between two worlds. Business and tech. Then I decided to do MBA in Trump-land Biden-land with concentration in business and data analytics.

With that, I am able to blend both the business world and tech world

How long did it take to transit from the banking sector to tech? What informed your transition decision?

Did you get your MBA through a scholarship programme?
