I always walk out of threads that contain abusive posts--doesn't seem matured to me. Any lil thing and psycologically immatured ppl will start abusing themselves. The worse part is that most of these defaulters are so new to nairaland (may, june, july, august). They take nairaland as a forum to rain abuses on people. Hwever, there're few new nlanders that are awesome!
Just on the 1st page of this thread ppl hv started abusing each other, why?... WHAT THE HELL IS HAPPENING TO NAIRALAND?

I've been following this thread b4 bt I seldom make any comment. Hwever, I've t talk nw... My pume score is 70% and my agg. is 60%; my jamb score reduced it. I applied 4 chem eng, any hope? The Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), University of Lagos chapter, Karo Ogbinaka has said that the disagreement between university teachers and the Federal Government dates back to the military regime of Olusegun Obasanjo.
Mr Ogbinaka, who disclosed this while being interviewed in Channels Television’s programme, Sunrise Daily, said if the union relent now, whatever gains it has achieved, would be lost.
He said, “As at 2009 the agreement was signed, it was an agreement that started since when Obasanjo was Head of states. The federal government was moving to Abuja and a lot of government properties were wasting away. It was thought that if it were giving to the universities they’ll be able to generate fund from that.
“But I’ll want to say not much can be achieved in that direction because most of these properties are either wasted away terribly, like the federal secretariat in Lagos or someway along the line they’ve turned around to buy most of those properties off themselves.”

The Committee of Pro-Chancellors of Nigerian Federal Universities in their meeting on Monday expressed concern over the lingering ASUU strike. It also calledfor immediate solution to the crisis.
The statement said the strike by ASUU had lingered because of thenon-implementation of the 2009 agreement between the Federal Government and the union.
The statement said: “The collateralconsequences of the strike are as it relates to the Post-UTME screening and the semester examinations in some universities, as well as the generaldislocation of the academic calendar.
“The committee of pro-chancellors wishes to appeal to all parties concerned to dispassionately expedite action toresolve the matter soonest.”
In a related development, the University of Jos chapter has disclosed that the UTME tests going on in the school is invalid.
It said that “the national strike is total, comprehensive and indefinite,” and therefore all systems should be shut down until the ASUU/ Federal Govt issues are sorted out.

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) made itsposition known on Thursday that it was in support of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) ongoing strike.
“ASUU’s strike actions and demands are genuine and very timely in other to rescue our educational sector from total collapse,” the students said in a press release by the NANS President, Prince Miaphen.
According to Mr. Miaphen, the struggle by ASUU is genuine.
“NANS is in total support of the positions and stand of ASUU that our educational sector is in shamble and disarray. We also support ASUU’s insistence that government should provide proper funding to all higher institutions in the country.”
The union leader threatened that his association would embark on nationwide protests should the ongoing ASUU strike continue.
“If ASUU demands are not met soonest, NANS will have no choicethan to mobilize Nigerian students Nationwide to stage a peaceful protest against Ministry of Education to press on all relevant Authorities to pay ASUU their due entitlements,” he said.

However, I'm beginning to cluster doubts in the Catholic faith because of some the conspiracy theories gyrating everywhere--books, internet, etc. The argument is based on the fact that there are lots of wrong doctrines in the Roman Catholic church. Hence, some of the practices of Catholics are demonic and Pagan. They are as follows:
1. The bowing down to graven images; it is believed that this was the practice of Pagans and that be4 it swept into the church nothing as such ever existed in the church. The devil tried all he could to scatter the early united church from the outside through fierce persecutions but to no avail--the church only grew stronger. Thr4, he figured that d only way t bring down the church's strength was t strike frm d inside. This he did by corrupting the early church's leaders--the Pagans who were the seat of power then announced their repentance and the stopping of Christian persecution. This made the christians happy and they accepted these unholy ppl into the church. Little by little, the pagans began bringing their traditions into the church, saying that Jesus and his respected mother's images can be sculptured in their rememberance. Most of the church leaders agreed but the very few who saw what was coming refused and were hence accused of nt being civilized. They faced persecutions and this marked the advent of the Church's disunity. So, why d ppl bow down t dose images that has nothing t do with God? God cannot possibly come and dwell in a sculptured image made by man, especially when he never instructed them to mould any being in heaven here on earth.

Praying repeatedly; it is no doubt that we catholics pray some certain prayers repeatedly as if God does not hear us, but in Matt. 6:7-8, Jesus said, "And in praying do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do; for they think that they will be heard for their many words. 8. Do not be like them for your Father knows what you need before you ask Him." So does it mean praying the sacred Rosary with many repititions changes nothing as when prayed just once or nt at all? Really, I don't even knw who brought this Rosary because I'm nt sure it protects smone. Did Peter, Paul, John, etc even used it. Is it right? I want to know.
4. Praying through Mary; This is a really controversial issue today. Jesus saying that he is the only one mediator to God and the right door to the Father was never wrong, I believe. Can't we just pray directly to Jesus and he'll hear us? Must we always pray through Mary to interceed for us? I mean, it's not as if Jesus has a hard cold heart. He is gentle, kind, loving and ever listening; if he weren't he wouldn't have sacrificed himself on the cross for you and me. So, is it right to keep on honoring Mary and glorifying and worshipping Jesus, or honoring, worshipping and glorifying Jesus? The reason I asked is that the Catholic church always say this, "Glory to Jesus" and the congregation will answer, "honour to Mary". Is this right?
5. Burning of candles, incenses and other things.
