jimyjames: first of all the northerners and the Yoruba region got in contact with the colonial masters many many years before they reached the igbo region , when the igbos finally got in contact with the whites, like achebe said, it took them just 20 yrs to catch up with the Yorubas and even surpass them cause the igbos were not hindered by religion or tradition like the northerners and Yorubas
talking about development, like I said civilization came to the north and west many many years before it reached the igbos, before the colonial masters reached igboland they had already built cities in Yoruba and northern region while we igbos were still living in mud houses in our forest
the reason why I think the northerners and Yorubas won't have achieved all this we igbos achieved after a destructive civil war is that, even though their regions were not affected by the civil war nothing much have changed even though they got civilization and their cities were built by the white long before the igbos nothing much have changed, we the igbos could have done better if it was the other way round Lol! In your wildest dream bro. The first people to come in contact with the Europeans are the binis. And for your information, the colonial masters came to Nigeria through calabar which was part of your Biafra during the civil war. I didn’t intend to do tribal bashing with you, wanted to discuss and see if there would be an Igbo that’s rationale in you.

jimyjames: I still ask you, how powerful were the igbos that they were able to single handedly do all these things , and you Yorubas and northerners couldn't do anything about it? you Yorubas and northerners were the first to get education and civilization long before the igbos, how come this uncivilized forest people the igbos were making decisions on your behalf? what were you all doing? how powerful were the igbos? Which decisions were the igbos making on behalf of the other tribes? Like what are you saying sef? |

jimyjames: Nigeria it self is under developed a third world country Poverty capital of the world, coming from a region that was completely destroyed by civil war with its people left empty handed, there is not much difference from our once destroyed region and the rest of the other region which remained untouched by the war but still suffering from the basic needs we suffer
no region will make it to this individualistic achievement of ours if the passed through same thing This your submission again confirms your biased opinion. Before the civil war or even precolonial nigeria, can you sincerely compare development between the Yoruba nation and the Igbo nation? What makes you think that any other tribe wouldn’t have achieved even better of faces with similar challenges? Why do you guys always claim something that can’t be proven and want people(other tribes) to accept such claims but when these other tribes makes claim as such you infer hatred as the basis of such claims? |

jimyjames: you are not being truthful to yourself and how you lot really feal about the igbo
why is the igbo always blamed for being responsible for something wasn't single handedly done by them
ok let's agree the igbo did what you claimed they did, but way blame only the igbos if you claimed the teamed up with northerners? are northerners untouchable? why do you all fear the North that much?
the Yorubas have being in the position to make a change in this country just like the igbos did, what exactly did the Yorubas do? are the igbos more powerful than the Yorubas? why didn't they do the same? the only thing Yorubas did well was awolowo advising Gowon to starve Biafran children, and Obasanjo and Benjamin Adekunle fighting over Mendels on whom amongst them killed igbos more amongst them
or are you telling me the Yorubas were only doing sidon dey look when igbos were changing things? You keep on shooting yourself in the foot. Was there any agreement between Yorubas and igbos for support? What were you expecting the Yorubas to do? Or are you not aware that it was Zik that blocked Awo from including secession clause in Nigeria’s constitution? Or didn’t even Zik later withdrew support for Biafra, after claiming Ojukwu didn’t consult him? If the igbos couldn’t even unite and support themselves, was it the Yoruba you blame for such failure? The Yorubas especially Awo was not fully satisfied by the entraption called Nigeria and was magnanimous enough to suggest a possible clause for secession but igbos see this as tribalistic and now they’re lamenting over something that a clause would have granted them easily. This proves that Awo was visionary enough to foresee that the entraption was bound for failure from the onset. |

candidtalk: You seriously think, when push comes to shove, SS folks will agree to join Igbos in Biafra?
They will reject Biafra flatly because you Igbos are unstable, domineering, intolerant and innately unfair people who will try to subjugate others.
Nigerians are seeing through you lot you know. Don't get it twisted. Wike's denial and rejection of Igbos will be child's play when Biafra is declared lol. Most Igbos in Lagos, SW and North will even refuse to be Biafrans let alone SS folks. I don’t know why igbos always fail to talk about their own excesses and weaknesses like for example the execution of Victor Banjo |

jneutron4000: Have you forgetten the coup? Are you aware your Igbo brother Aguiyi Ironsi introduced this Unitary so that Igbos can control all other regions. This is fact that most igbos tend to conveniently deny. The reason Azikiwe and in extension Ironsi favoured unitary government was because of the seemingly possibility of the igbos controlling the Hausa/Fulani whom they thought are docile and won’t cause them much worries like the sophisticated and well exposed Yorubas. Early education and exposure has placed the Yorubas well ahead of igbos and this caused a lot of worries for them, they feared the Yorubas who are naturally ahead might dominate if the regions continue to be self governed. The free education policy for example of awolowo has shown the direction and back then formal education was seen as the bedrock of national development. Although the igbos also later gave much attention to formal western education, they couldn’t match the Yoruba leadership and instead they start some sort of propaganda that has been unfortunately passed down through generations with a “Yorubas hate Igbo” theme. |

i Think most Nigerian youths seems to not only concentrate on news that doesn’t have any immediate nor long term benefit to them but also news they don’t have any iota of power or effective control over matters been discussed in such news.
What exactly does those students tends to achieve with their outbursts? And more importantly what or how does those who were calling out the school management here on Nairaland feel especially when they’re neither students nor sponsors of anyone in the school? |

FortifiedCity: Lesbianism and gay affects everything around you, and by extension you. We need to stop this 'I don't care' attitude . Evil is evil no matter what. Lesbianism is evil because your bible or quran said so. Stop using "we" please, refer to yourself alone. Lesbianism doesn't and would never affect anything around anyone who's reasonable enough to know the basic principle of "Live and let live". The only problem I see here is that it's illegal here in Nigeria |
