Igbos should continue this noise at their own peril. If they continue this for too long, Yorubas will launch first attack and AM SURE, it won't end well for them. NB- Igbos cant take it up to ds stage in their domain. Lets preach peace, war won't help anyone. Peaceful disintegration might be an alternative too. The Igbo's shd re-think and check their ways, why all other ethnic groups in Nigeria are always againt them. U rent a room to an Igbo person but will in the long run want to by force take possession of the whole house. I think the only thing that can satisfy the igbos is to allow them to disintegrate from the present nigeria otherwise I fear this trend may continue since it has bn lingering for decades. Mind u, SW is the seat and head-quater of knowledge in nigeria and I wonder what dominance mean without knowledge, only that we are not dubious in our character. Am a YORUBA and a christain too so SE ppl shd learn from their Bible what true chriatianity mean- uprightness in character! My opinion though |

by Kolapo Olapoju A participant of the meeting between Igbo leaders and Oba of Lagos state, has revealed that the monarch was merely joking with his utterances and that none of the persons present took offense to his words. The person in question is a Lagos-based lawyer and industrialist, Chukwudi Atueyi, who revealed to Vanguard what happened between Igbo leaders and Oba Rilwan Akiolu. Read below his account of events: “All the Eze Ndi Igbo honorary in Lagos went to pay HRM solidarity visit on Sunday and I was fortunate to be among those present at the said meeting. What the Oba said was fully and simply directed to only the Igbos present at the meeting who his majesty considers to be very close to him and should understand him well enough.” “You know when one talks to his very close friends and subjects, he tends to be very free with them, so he was being very free with those present at the meeting and wanted us to realize how serious and close he takes us and our votes, because he cannot imagine us giving him our words only to turn back and do the very opposite.” “He did not force us to the meeting, we were the ones that went to him on solidarity visit, so it would be very evil of us to only go and deceive him there. He only jokingly (at least as it appeared to me then) warned the people present at the meeting who he considers his own people. The said warning that we are supposed to be very conversant with since we have all the “Ëze Ndi Igbo” present there, as that was not the first time we visited him. We are all already aware of the Yoruba culture and understood perfectly what he meant. There was no specific place he referred to all the Igbos in Lagos.” “He was only addressing the Igbos with him present there whom he considers his own people and he simply observed his culture which we all quite understood and this explains why there was applause and laughter at the end of his speech. We were expected to, thereafter, talk to our people in civilized manner to convince them and canvass for their votes if we truly believe we are capable of doing so.” “The tradition of lagoon water threat was directed only to those present at the meeting as culture demands. Though he appeared serious but we all understood it as a joke, that was why we all applauded him and made fun of it there.” “So I suspect serious politics at play here. By Abiodun Alade, @biodunpen Televangelist and cleric of the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN), Prophet Temitope Joshua, Sunday, said he told President Goodluck Jonathan, that he would lose the March 28 presidential election. Jonathan of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, was defeated by Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd) of the All Progressives Congress, APC. T.B Joshua said he sent his message to the President weeks before the election. “I want to use this moment to congratulate Nigerians in our midst here,” Mr. Joshua began in a message to his congregation, televised live via his Christian network Emmanuel TV and posted on the social network of the church. “This message should be delivered to your president, that whatever the outcome of this election, his regime has come to an end. He should accept to save the lives of millions,” Joshua claimed God told him in a revelation. Joshua said he called Jonathan by phone, stressing that he chose to relay it personally so that it will not affect votes’ pattern or be seen as a campaign for any of the candidate in the election. He added that he has shared with President Jonathan many revelations about Nigeria which eventually came to pass. Joshua said Jonathan promptly sent a close aide to meet him. After the presidential aide had worshipped at his church during a Sunday service, Joshua said he met him and relayed the revelation that Jonathan’s regime had come to an end. “Soft landing – that is the language I sent to the president,” he told attendees. Mr. Joshua described President Jonathan as a man who ‘has a heart for God’, revealing that he even spoke with the Nigerian president shortly before his historic concession call to President-elect Buhari. “I said to him, ‘Your Excellency – all you need to say is ‘thank You, Jesus’, even when it seems there is nothing to be thankful for. He said, ‘Thank you, man of God’. Before I knew it, I saw the news on CNN that he had congratulated his opponent,”Joshua said. Alluding to his prediction a week to the election that the dark cloud he saw covering Nigeria was lifting, he said that a bloody ‘war’ would have ensued if not for the prompt concession of power by President Jonathan. “Look, Nigeria wanted change – everyone was yearning for change. An attempt to stop change leads to war, to a bloodbath… If Nigeria knows what we have overcome, we would dance,”Joshua said. Joshua praised Jonathan’s tenure insisting that he had served his nation well despite the immense security challenges. “I really want to salute President Jonathan. The President has served; he has done his best. It was just the season of crisis – and unfortunately he found himself at the lead in the season of crisis,”he said. He prayed that people from the ‘South- South’ region in Nigeria where President Jonathan hails from would understand that ‘their son has become a hero’, adding that his actions prove the region is after a united Nigeria. Singer, Etcetera in his new article points out reasons why President-Elect, Muhammadu Buhari should not be celebrated. Read highlights below: 1. Six bikers died while celebrating Buhari’s victory: Why are we dancing? Why do we keep rolling out the drums each time we have a new government, only for us to start crying few months down the line? Is it that we are too quick to forget or we just love to dance? Do you celebrate a child who’s about to write his exams or the one who has written and passed? What is this jubilation for? Because I really don’t understand. Is it that the election of Buhari in itself has suddenly alleviated our sufferings? I am really confused here, hearing how six bikers lost their lives in Zaria celebrating Buhari’s victory. 2. Buhari is not our messiah, the demons will always be there: One would think that a people who have been shortchanged for so long by past presidents will know better to be calm and take every word of the new president with a pinch of salt until he proves to be different. This process is becoming an unending circle, again and again we’ve danced and again and again, we’ve cursed and cried at the end. It is still shocking to me that a lot of Nigerians fell for the story that the president was born without shoes. Was anyone born with shoes on? Buhari’s triumphant entry into the presidency last Sunday which coincidentally was a palm Sunday doesn’t yet prove he is the redeemer. Just like the second coming of our supposed political messiah Obasanjo didn’t prove any significant improvement in our lives. We all thought he was the one anointed by the gods to take us by the hands and lead us right straight into the promised land, where we shall have no more gnashing of teeth. But when he left office, the roads were still as bad as they were before he took office. The hospitals were still without facilities and most importantly, he failed to defeat the demon in the power sector even with billions of dollars thrown at it. The demons in the same power sector have claimed Jonathan just like they did Yar’Adua, Abdulsalami Abubakar, Sanni Abacha, Shonekan, IBB and Shagari. Even Buhari himself had already been defeated by this demon before. So what says it is not going to be the same this time around. Remember obasanjo was defeated twice by this same demon. 3. Buhari just like our past leaders will take us for granted: Why won’t our leaders take us for granted when they’ve noticed that we are always ready to jump to our feet and “jubilate” with the announcement of every new regime? When Buhari overthrew the democratically elected government of Shehu Shagari in 1983, many of you reading this took to the streets to boogie down. When Babangida sent Buhari packing a couple of months later, a lot more of you got drunk and vomited all over the place. Even Abacha’s sudden death brought smiles on the faces of most bar owners across the country as they ran out of booze. 4. Something is wrong with Nigerians?: Is something wrong with us as a people? We are forgetting a very important fact that this election proves that we are and will still remain a divided people. We are divided by our ideologies with no realistic integration in sight. The election has also reinforced the thinking that we are divided by regional, tribal and religious interests and not national. These are some of the significant issues that will define our tomorrow. 5. To hell with Optimism: Finally, some of you who are reading this may be saying, oh Etcetera, can’t you be optimistic for once? My brother, I can’t. Optimism and its younger brother, hope have proven to be very dangerous especially in Nigeria. They have sent millions of Nigerians to their early graves. A former Niger-Delta militant, Mujahid Asari- Dokubo, says with the defeat of President Goodluck Jonathan, he and other militants may be forced to return to the creeks. Asari-Dokubo, who hails from the same state as Jonathan, said the voting pattern showed that the South-West and the North ganged up against the South-South and South-East geo-political zones. The ex-militant said in a statement by his spokesperson, Rex Anighoro, that it was unfair that the minorities were being emasculated by the majority ethnic groups. He said he feared that the government of the President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, would be vicious. Asari-Dokubo said, “The conditions that advanced the need to embrace the creeks have been sadly re-energised. It is clear that a vicious government who may maim and murder the voice of the so-called minorities may have just been birthed. “Indeed integration is non-existent as regional gang-ups and supremacy is symbolic with this victory.” The ex-militant, who had in January said he and his colleagues would wreak havoc if Jonathan lost the election, praised the President for being a true statesman. He said it was the struggle of the militants that led to the Jonathan presidency. Asari-Dokubo said since the South-South had lost the presidency, ex-militants would meet to decide the next line of action. He said, “While President Jonathan enjoys his moments and basks in the euphoria of a new world-renowned statesman having congratulated Muhammadu Buhari, we must quickly be reminded that our struggle was never about Jonathan or about the presidency. “President Jonathan is an establishment beneficiary of our struggle, our sweat and blood that many bled and died for. He was never in the struggle and he can never wish away our collective march for statesmanship. “Yes indeed, to an extent, he was a mitigating factor in self-determination pursuit as we went on sabbatical. This mitigation he seems to have willingly repudiated. The days coming will be critical. We shall study all the conditions and consult widely before determining the way forward for our collective existence and survival as a people. LEADERSHIP reportage, analyses and prognoses of the presidential elections have been spot on. In our Sunday March 30 edition, we reported that the Nigerian electorate was drafting a statement on change. On Monday, we saw clearly that history was beckoning. Today, we reported the first round of election results, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). In all, with INEC almost through with collation, LEADERSHIP has been vindicated as speaking for the people. It is expected that later today, the INEC chairman will announce the emergence of the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Gen Muhammadu Buhari, as president-elect of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The facts are clear. Results of the presidential polls indicated that the APC candidate won in the two largest zones – North West and South West. Buhari also enjoyed wider popularity than his archrival President Goodluck Jonathan, candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), in the North East zone. The incumbent president clinched the South-South and the South- East. It remains to be seen how Jonathan can narrow or surpass the margin. As things stand, the Daura-born retired general is on a roller coaster ride to the seat of power in Aso Rock Villa. Try as PDP may have to put a spanner in the works, the time appears ripe for change. We felicitate with the president- elect and Nigeria as they embrace change. |

Some of d places that a FOOD SCIENCE graduate can work include - WHO, NAFDAC, GSK, NESTLE, CADBURY, DANGOTE, CHI FOODS, BREWERIES HOSPITAL( as a Nutrition consultant if u major in Nutrition) I decided not to mention some other ones that hav bn mentioned by other litrate ppl on ds thread, and u may want to argue it out that these are not d top companies in Nigeria after Oil, Financial and ICT sectors that are making waves even with d present economic situation.
