President Muhammadu Buhari has described the killing of a former Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh (rtd) as “very sad and unfortunate” and has ordered that his killers be fished out.

In a statement by his spokesperson, Femi Adesina, Mr Buhari commiserated with the family of the late four-star general, his friends and professional colleagues in the military, and the people and government of Adamawa State.

“Noting that the late Mr Badeh, who was also a former Chief of Air Staff, attained professional fulfilment in his over three decades military career, President Buhari regrets that he fell victim to incidence of violent and fatal attacks on the nation’s highways.

“He directs security agencies to find the killers of the 15th Chief of Defence Staff and bring them to face the full force of the law, while ensuring greater security and safety for all users of the country’s roads.

A committed Father Christmas performer has collapsed and died during seasonal festivities at a kindergarten in Siberia.

The Russian Santa was energetically performing with excited young children before he suddenly stood still and fell backwards.

Some of the youngsters thought perhaps his collapse was all part of the game, which involved them touching their noses, and some rushed towards the fallen figure.

As kindergarten staff confronted the young students, he was rushed to hospital in Kemerovo but died on the way, said a medical source.

The man named as Valery Titenko, 67, a well-known professional actor in the city, 2,230 miles east of Moscow.

It was revealed today that he had not been feeling well, and had complained of chest pains, but did not want to let the children down so went in to work to perform for them.

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested two siblings , Ayodeji Obadimeji (18 ) and Saheed Obadimeji ( 19) with a “ fresh ” human head.


The head was said to be that of a 10- year - old boy, Joseph Makinde.


The suspects had allegedly lured the victim into buying them a drink before cutting off his head .


They were allegedly contracted by one Sodiq Abefe , who promised to pay them N 200 , 000 for a human head .


The police spokesperson , CSP Chike Oti , who confirmed the incident , said the suspects were arrested on Tuesday on Tunde Balogun Street , Shapati , Ibeju- Lekki.


The suspects were reportedly arrested around 10 . 30pm by a team of anti - kidnapping personnel on a routine patrol between Ajah / Epe Expressway .


“ On interrogation , they confessed that one Sodiq Abefe contracted them to provide him with a human head at the cost of N 200 , 000 , hence they lured the victim by sending him to buy a soft drink for them and when he brought the drink to them , they held him and cut off his head with a knife.
“ The victim was identified by his parents as Joseph Makinde , aged 10 years.


“ His torso was recovered from an uncompleted building at Shapati and effort is being made to arrest the said Sodiq Abefe who allegedly contracted the duo to commit the heinous crime , ” Oti added .


The police spokesperson said the state Commissioner of Police , Edgal Imohini , had directed that the case be handed over to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation And Intelligence Department , Yaba , for further investigation .

A female acid bath survivor, Chizzy Frances , has recounted how she fell victim to an acid attack which occurred on November 17, 2004, three days before her birthday.

According to the acid bath survivor who thanked her family and sponsors of surgery, the incident which occurred when she was 9 left her with lots of pain, challenges, questions and rejections from her peers.

Ochanya, the 13-year-old girl who died after being raped by her aunt’s husband, Andrew Ogbuja, and his son Victor, was buried yesterday at her home town, Ogene Amejo Okpokwu local government area of Benue State amidst tears.

Ochanya who was buried yesterday, battled Vesicovaginal fistula (VVF) and other health complications at the Benue State University Teaching Hospital, Makurdi after being severely abused by one Andrew Ogbuja, and his son, Victor Inalegwu Ogbuja.

Speaking after the burial, a group under the aegis of Concerned Citizens For Ochanya, who commended the commended the thorough, transparent and unbiased investigation into the matter by the police and other related agencies, requested that the wife of the suspect, Mrs Felicia Ogbuja, be invited for questioning over her role, either by commission or omission, in the matter.

The group further demanded that Andrew Ogbuja, should immediately be suspended from carrying out his official duties as a lecturer and head of department in the Benue State Polytechnic, pending the outcome of the investigation into his complicity in the case.

The group also asked the Benue State governor, Samuel Ortom, to immortalise the late Elizabeth Ochanya Ogbanje as a martyr of child rape, sexual molestation and abuse to discourage future act of abuse, neglect and exploitation of children.

“The Benue State House of Assembly should also intensify efforts to pass the Violence Against Persons Prohibition Act (2015). We also call for a thorough review of the Judicial System to protect the rights of children against rape and sexual molestation.”

A 32-year-old man in the Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State, David Shakari, has been arrested by operatives of the Inspector-General of Police Intelligence Response Team for r-pe.

The 32-year-old father of one reportedly r-ped his mother and ex-wife’s mother who are in their 50s and 60s respectively.
Punch learnt that Shakari had attended a festival sometime in August 2017 in the community and returned home drunk in the night.

Shakari, who lived with his mother, reportedly met the woman asleep and forcefully had s-x with her.

He was said to have begged his mother the following day when he regained his senses and promised not to repeat the act.
About three months later, it was gathered that the secondary school leaver attended another festival in his ex-wife’s community in Mahuta and got drunk again. He headed for his ex-in-law’s house in the night.

The police said Shakari fled after r-ping his ex-mother-in-law and was given a chase by neighbours who were attracted to the victim’s cry.

In an interview with Punch correspondent on Thursday, Shakari admitted r-ping his mother but said he had not penetrated into his ex-wife’s mother’s private parts before she raised the alarm.
He said he went into farming after he completed secondary school, but he became tired of the work after some years.
The suspect explained that he had enough time to laze about as he could not get another job.

He said, “I got married in 2002. My wife was in secondary school then. It was agreed that she should complete her education at her parents’ home before she would move to my house. We have a child together. Later, she got remarried to another man.

“I was into farming, but I did not like the work. I wanted to further my education. Last year, I attended Moroha Festival and got drunk. I went home and met my mother asleep. She was the only person at home. My father is dead and my daughter lives with her maternal grandmother.

“I did not know when I r-ped my mother. The following day, a family meeting was held and I pleaded with her. She forgave me and I promised not to do such a thing again.

“Some months later, I attended another festival at my ex-wife’s community. In the night, I went to the house of my ex-wife’s mother. The door to her apartment was not locked. I entered and met her asleep. As I was trying to r-pe her, she woke up and shouted. I fled the room. People chased me, but they did not catch me. I have repented now. I committed the crime because I did not have any work doing. I have also stopped taking alcohol.”

A police source told Punch correspondent that some vigilantes in Mahuta reported the incident to the IRT led by DCP Abba Kyari and a manhunt was launched for the suspect.

“The effort of the team paid off last month when he was tracked down at Samunaka in the Dere Local Government Area of Kaduna State. He r-ped his mother and his ex-mother-in-law,” the source added.

An Apostolic Faith Mission pastor from Tynwald in Dzivarasekwa, Zimbabwe, Joseph Ponda was caught pants down in the act with an unidentified member of his assembly.

The pastor is said to be currently nursing his wounds after being attacked by passers-by who caught the two near a hill. Part of the humiliation has already gone viral.

“I have seen the pastor with the woman, whom he was caught with several times in his vehicle. The woman is a single parent and also stays here in Dzivarasekwa. I never suspected that there was something going on between them until I saw the video. I had the opportunity to see him after the incident and he was in serious pain from the assault” said a source.

When contacted for comment, Ponda could not deny or confirm the allegations, however he said:

“I have a lot to say about what happened and I can not tell you over the phone. I will be free in two hours ” he said before switching off the phon.

A fellow pastor from the AFM church said that Ponda was likely to face demotion if he does not successfully defend himself.

A 24-year-old computer engineer, Ayodeji Folarin, was on Thursday docked at an Ikeja High Court for impersonating the famous gospel artiste, Lara George, and defrauded three Americans of $8,500 in the process.

Folarin is facing a four-count charge of obtaining money by false pretences and possession of documents containing false pretense.

The charges were proffered against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The computer engineer, who resides at No. 2, Folarin St., Obada Oko in Abeokuta, Ogun, however, denied the charges. Mr Temitope Banjo, the prosecuting counsel to the EFCC, told the court that the defendant defrauded the foreigners between January and December 2016 in Ikeja, Lagos.


“While posing as Lara George and with the intent to defraud, he obtained the sum of $8,500 from Trevor Dawe, Rick Cuewo and Stephen Wilson who are all citizens of the United States of America. “On June 2018, Folarin had in his possession, a World Lottery Organisation Winning Certificate and Affidavit of Common Law Marriage which all contained false pretenses. “The defendant also had in his possession emails containing false pretenses,” Banjo said.

According to the EFCC, the offences contravened Sections 1(3), 6 and 8(b) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Related Offences Act 2006. Following Folarin’s plea, his defence counsel, Mr Samuel Shodipo, requested that bail be granted to the defendant in the most liberal terms. The vacation judge, Justice Obafemi Adamson, however, ordered that the defendant be remanded at the Ikoyi Prisons. Justice Adamson directed that the case file should also be taken to the Court Registry for assignment to another judge who will hear the case.

A sports-mad Indonesian couple have named their new baby 'Asian Games' to mark her arrival as the country kicked off the world's second-biggest multi-sport event.

The little girl - full name Abidah Asian Games - was born about a month early in co-host city Palembang, just hours before Saturday's opening ceremony, her parents told AFP on Tuesday.

"We already had a first name for her but didn't have a last name," new father Yordania Denny said, cradling the new arrival in his arms in the front room of their modest house in the north of the city.

So the parents, who now have three children, drew inspiration from what they regard as an "historic" moment.


"Such an event is rare. It only happens every few years. And not to mention that it's in Palembang - it's rare for Palembang to host such an...event."

The city's residents are fiercely proud to be in the international spotlight, with banners lining the streets and TV screens showing the sports live in many restaurants.

Many Indonesians have only one name and many, but not all, Indonesian children have their father's surname as their first name.

The new parents remained coy when asked if they hoped the name would help turn their daughter into a future sporting star.

"If she has the talent and motivation we will support and motivate her," mum Vera said, although her husband hinted which sport he would prefer, saying that "Indonesia is good at badminton".

They also said that they would allow Abidah Asian Games to change her name in the future if she does not have the same appreciation for the regional Olympic event.

There was tension at the Maiduguri international airport in Borno state as angry soldiers shot indiscriminately to protest their deployment from the state capital to another local government.

The aggrieved soldiers reportedly arrived at the airport at 6pm ahead of their posting to Marte local government area. But trouble started when they regrouped and refused to board the aircraft which ought to convey them there.

The soldiers who are of the special forces said after spending over four years in Maiduguri, they ought to be sent back to their families and not to be posted to face death.

An officer who witnessed the incident said superior officers, including Bulami Biu, general officer commander (GOC) of 7 division, were asked to stay off the airport or risk being shot.
“The second batch of pilgrims from Borno boarded their flight amid the commotion,” the source said.

The body of a middle-aged man was yesterday found at Orile-Iganmu Bus stop in Lagos. It was gathered that he was passing by when he suddenly slumped and died.

A trader close to the scene, said the deceased was seen shivering on the spot at about 6:30 a.m. His condition was worsened by an early morning drizzle, he said.

“It seems the deceased was asthmatic. Though, the early drizzle worsened his condition, his life may have been saved if he got prompt medical assistance,” he said.

A democratic lawmaker from New Hampshire has been arrested for domestic violence charges after he allegedly bit a woman on multiple occasions and forced his way into her locked home.

State Senator Jeff Woodburn, a Democrat from Whitefield, was charged with simple assault, domestic violence and criminal mischief after the state attorney general’s office said he allegedly slapped a woman, punched her in the stomach, bit her hand, and on another occasion, bit her forearm.

The incidents are said to have taken place this year and last year.
Woodburn, the state Senate minority leader, has however defended himself in a statement yesterday saying;

“This afternoon, I learned that a warrant had been issued for my arrest. I voluntarily responded to the police station, cooperated with law enforcement during the booking process, and was released,” he said. “I intend to fully address and defend against these charges in court.”

The New Hampshire Democratic Party urged him to resign, as did the state’s Democratic congressional delegation and members of the state Senate Democratic Caucus.

“The New Hampshire Democratic Party stands firm in our belief that any form of sexual harassment, sexual assault, or domestic violence is completely unacceptable behavior for anyone, let alone our public officials who should all be held to a higher standard,” said State Democratic Party Chairman Ray Buckley.

Republican Gov. Chris Sununu tweeted that the allegations were “morally reprehensible,” and also said Woodburn should step down.

Woodburn is set to be arraigned on August 20.

This is the disturbing moment a dad found a plastic DOLL inside his 'dead baby's' coffin after his girlfriend lied about the child's existence.

Melvin Mendoza discovered the newborn baby he was grieving for had never even existed after he and his friends dug up the tiny white coffin.

His partner, Rosa Castellanos Diaz, had reportedly spent nine months pretending to be pregnant with twins before 'giving birth' to them.

After fooling her family into believing she had delivered the infants, she feigned the death of one of them and staged a burial, it is alleged.

She claimed she had left the other twin being cared for in hospital.

The funeral took place at her local graveyard in El Coyolar, Honduras.

Distraught family and friends took turns to carry the 'deceased twin's' coffin before bidding an emotional farewell to them.

But the next day, Melvin's pals reportedly began to doubt Rosa's story and decided to return to the graveyard to dig up the coffin with him.

When they did, they found a plastic doll dressed up as a baby inside.

Shocking footage, shared on Twitter by Noticieros Hoy Mismo, shows the doll lying inside the open coffin by the side of the exhumed grave.

A number of men can be seen walking around at the scene, with one in a baseball cap filmed picking up the box and moving it around.

Another man shines a torch on the doll.
It is claimed Rosa had kept up the charade of being pregnant for the whole nine months, convincing friends and relatives she was expecting.

She even announced she was expecting twins after an 'ultrasound scan'.

It is reported that her actions were a bizarre attempt to keep her 'wayward' partner by her side, although this has not been confirmed.

Last Friday morning, Rosa left her village home and took a bus the Honduras' capital Tegucigalpa, claiming she was heading for the city's Escuela Hospital to give birth to her babies.

That night, she reportedly called Melvin, a member of the Honduran Armed Forces, to tell him the sad news that one of the twins had died while being delivered.

As is custom, the grief-stricken father and his relatives put on a wake and awaited the arrival of his partner and the 'dead child'.

Rosa reportedly arrived at noon the next day, carrying the coffin.

However, she told loved ones they could not see the 'baby' as the hospital had sealed the box and prohibited her from opening it.

The wake continued through the afternoon, with coffee, bread and other snacks served for friends and family who had come to pay their respects.

Later that afternoon, the baby's funeral possession left from the house towards the cemetery, before a short ceremony took place.

Distressed Melvin then had to be supported by friends as he lowered the coffin into the ground and buried it, according to reports.

However, following the funeral, a number of his friends expressed fears that Rosa had invented the story to convince him not to leave her.

They exhumed the coffin, accompanied by Melvin, to find out the truth.

One, Ismael Mejia, told Honduras' El Heraldo newspaper: "The whole thing didn't seem right. So in the night we went to the cemetery to dig it up. When we pulled out the box, to our surprise what we found inside was a doll, dressed up as if it were a child.

"We took the coffin to the police so they could see that we didn't take the child out of the box and replace it with a doll."

After discovering the alleged trick, Melvin has however decided not to press charges against Rosa.

Pope Francis is changing the Vatican’s stance on the death penalty, with the Roman Catholic Church declaring inadmissible in all cases.
The Catechism teaching on capital punishment was changed on Thursday and now says the practice is “an attack on the inviolability and dignity of the person”.

The Vatican is working to have the death penalty abolished worldwide, reflecting the pope’s total opposition to it, it announced in a statement.

The minister of women affairs and social development, Senator Aisha Alhassan has resigned her position in order to contest the 2019 governorship election.

President Muhammadu Buhari confirmed the resignation in his acceptance of her notification through a letter conveyed to her dated July 27, 2018.

In the letter, however, President Buhari raised a condition of supporting her so long as she vies on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
