A yet-to-be identified lady was found dead underneath a hotel bed in Owerri the capital of Imo State.

Eyewitnesses claimed the incident occurred last weekend at a popular hotel along World Bank Road in Owerri, and a cleaner reportedly found the corpse. It was further learnt that identifying the girl has been quite difficult, as the killer who is also yet to be identified fled with her belongings including her clothes and underwear.

Personnel of the Lagos State Police Command, on Saturday, recovered the corpse of a yet-to-be identified man in the Adio bus stop area of Ijanikin.

The victim, said to be about 35 years old, was alleged to have committed suicide by taking an insecticide, Sniper, the bottle of which was found by his lifeless body by homicide detectives led by the Divisional Police Officer of the Ijanikin Police Station during a visit to the scene of the incident.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Bala Elkana, said in a statement on Sunday that the corpse was recovered from the bush and deposited in the Mainland General Hospital, Yaba, for autopsy.

Elkana said, “On Saturday, August 3, 2019, around 9.30am, information received by the Ijanikin Police Station revealed that one unidentified man, about 35 years old, was lying dead in a bush beside the bridge at Adio bus stop, Ijanikin, Lagos.

“A team of homicide detectives led by the DPO, Ijanikin Police Station, visited the scene. On close observation, one plastic bottle of Sniper, suspected to have been taken by the deceased, was found by his side. Photographs were taken and the corpse was removed and deposited in the Mainland General Hospital, Yaba, Lagos, for autopsy. Investigation is ongoing.”

Tonto also told me she needed money for rent because of the pressure she was getting from the facility management, I had to introduce her to someone who helped in sorting the rent and the person was constantly giving her millions of Naira. * Tonto never had food in her house for herself and workers asides her son’s food. I made sure that we constantly sent food to her house and never allowed her to cry as she was always depressed. * I was a friend that left my car for Tonto because she never had a good car to befit a celebrity as she claims.

Please ask Tonto if she had ever used her money anytime we were out together?? She will always bring up excuses like…” I forgot my ATM or my PA didn’t come out with my ATM. I knew she didn’t have cash and I was always willing to cover her up. Most times when she goes for an event, she will invite all the media houses but will never have any money at hand to pay. Some unknown gunmen on Tuesday evening abducted Dayo Adewole, who is the son of the immediate past Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole.

The military, the police, security agents and local hunters were already on the trail of the kidnappers as at press time.

A Lagos State High Court in Ikeja, on Tuesday, sentenced a 22-year-old baker, Lawal Kamoru, to 13 years imprisonment for defiling a 14-year-old girl.

Justice Raliat Adebiyi found Kamoru guilty of the one count of defilement levelled against him by the state.
Punch Metro learnt that the convict and three others at large, had on February 1, 2014, gang-r-ped the victim inside an uncompleted building on Oluwanishola Street in the Ilaje, Bariga area of the state.

It was gathered that the victim and her younger sister were on their way home from a church vigil around 5.15am when they were accosted by four men, who ordered them to kneel down.

The victim had earlier told the court during her evidence that the convict was the leader of the gang.
She had stated, “I was returning from church with my younger sister around 5.15am when the men stopped us and ordered us to kneel down, but on sighting some people coming towards our direction, they immediately ordered us to get up and go, and when we stood up and walked away, they followed us quietly.

“The men followed behind while one of them flashed a torchlight. When we realised that they were still following us, we tried to run but they threatened to kill us.

“They told us to kneel down again and started beating us, then my sister started shouting. Then, one of the men stylishly chased my younger sister home, while the remaining three forced me into an uncompleted building and raped me. I remember the defendant very well. He was the first to rape me and the one who actually tore my pants.

Music star, Davido, has expressed his disappointment at the ruling of the Court of Appeal which declared Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the elected governor of Osun State.

Davido took to his Instagram page to react to the court ruling which was not in favour of his uncle, Senator Ademola Adeleke, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
According to him, this is not the end of the journey as he thinks there would be a victory when the case shifts to the Supreme Court.

“My people, we cannot hide our disappointment. This judgment of the Court of the Appeal. It hurts, it’s extremely painful, but guess what? It is not the end. Far from it.

“Everyone, remain calm. I want to urge all our supporters to remain calm at this time. As you all know, there is one last and important lap.

Sunday Sorinola, a 35-year-old landlord was arraigned before an Abeokuta Magistrates’ Court on Friday for allegedly stealing jewellery worth N1.8 million and cash belonging to his tenant.

The accused is facing a count charge of stealing. The Prosecutor, Insp. Mattew Famuyiwa, told the court that the Soriola committed the offence on October 11, 2018, at about 8.15p.m at Adigbe area in Abeokuta.

Famuyiwa said that the accused broke into the room of the complainant, his tenant, and stole gold jewellery worth N1.8 million and cash amount of N562, 850. According to the prosecutor, the complainant left her apartment to purchase recharge card for her mobile phone. “Before she returned the accused had broke into her room and stole the items,” the prosecutor said.

He said that after the incident, the complainant reported the matter at Adigbe Police Station after which the accused was apprehended. The prosecutor said that the offence contravened Section 390(9) of the Criminal Code Laws of Ogun, 2006.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge against him. The Magistrate, Mr Olalekan Oke, granted the accused bail of N600,000 with two sureties in like sum. Oke said that one of the sureties must own a landed property and must be gainfully employed, and reside within the court’ s jurisdiction.
The prosecutor said that the sureties must also show evidence of tax payment to the Ogun Government. He, however, adjourned the case until February 5 for hearing.

The Federal Government has denied the allegation made by Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike, that it plans to shut down internet access during the 2019 general elections. Recall that Governor Wike on Thursday accused the presidency of plans of working with the National Security Adviser, INEC and Internet Service Providers, to shut down internet access during the elections so as to engage in widespread rigging.

In a statement from the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), the Federal government denied the allegation, stating it is false and baseless. A statement signed by ONSA spokesperson, Danjuma Reuben, reads

“The Office wishes to advise the general public to disregard the allegation, which is disinformation. This Office wishes to state that the internet and associated communications infrastructure are major components of the Critical National Information Infrastructure (CNII), which ONSA is mandated to ensure its security.”

A suspected thief got more than he bargained for after he was caught by residents for allegedly stealing in Lagos.

It was scooped that the suspect was nabbed by youths of his neighborhood this morning after allegedly committing a crime and was about to travel.

A police worker was caught by paedophile hunters posing as 13-year-old girls after he sent them “abhorrent” photos, a court heard.


Andrew Grimstead, a resources co-ordinator, sent footage of himself performing a sex act to who he thought were teenage girls.


Instead he was confronted by the Justice for the Innocent vigilante group, who then reported him to cops.


But the vigilante group said they were furious after Grimstead was handed a 36-month community order after admitting to three offences of attempting to cause a child to watch a sexual act and three of attempting to have sexual communication with a child.


Justice For The Innocent described the sentence as “diabolical”, saying Grimsted was in a position of trust and should have been jailed.
A spokesman said: “The sentence fails to reflect the seriousness of his crimes and what could have happened had there been no intervention by a decoy.”


Southampton Crown Court, Hants, heard the 50-year-old thought he was in contact with young girls aged 13 when he sent footage of himself performing a sex act.
But instead he was confronted by the vigilante group who had travelled to his home, and called the police.


In footage of the confrontation, Grimstead can be heard saying he is “embarrassed” after being caught.

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has stated that the State Government will ensure that the killers of Ekele Fyneface Chikobi Cohen (EFCC) are brought to justice.

Speaking at a meeting with Community Development Committees in Port Harcourt on Friday, Governor Wike said the State Government will ensure all those involved in the dastardly act are tracked down by security operatives.

Governor Wike said he received news of the murder of EFCC, the legislative leader of Ahoada West Local Government Area, with shock, noting that he was unsettled by the sad news.

“The people who killed EFCC will face the consequences. All hands are on deck to bring the killers to justice. They will meet their Waterloo “.

A minute silence was observed in honour of Ekele Fyneface Chikobi Cohen (EFCC) at the event. Governor Wike prayed for the repose of his soul and for God to grant the family the strength to bear the irreparable loss.

Ekele Fyneface Chikobi Cohen (EFCC) was until his death the leader of Ahoada West Local Government Area Legislative Assembly and prominent social media practitioner. He was a strong supporter of Governor Wike.

A tough fight broke out between two ladies who went to ply their sex trade at a popular street in Ikeja area of Lagos as they engaged themselves in a public brawl over clients.

It was gathered that the duo went to the place to hustle for clients and when a particular client eventually arrived in the evening, they struggled to win his attention and in the process has a disagreement which made the client to drive off.
The disagreement degenerated to physical fighting between them in the public glare.

During the public brawl, Charity used a sharp object to injure Joy and she was rushed to an undisclosed hospital.

The matter was reported to the police at Ikeja Division and Charity was arrested. After interrogation, the police found her culpable and charged her before the Ogba Magistrates Court for assault.

She pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Inspector Benson Emerhi, did not oppose her being granted bail and asked the court for a date for hearing on the matter.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. Sule-Amzat, granted her bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.

She was remanded in prison custody pending when she will perfect her bail conditions. The matter was adjourned till 28th February, 2019.

At the swearing-in ceremony which took place in Abuja on Saturday, the acting CJN urged the members of the election tribunals to discharge their duties with integrity as well as the fear of God.

Muhammad was sworn-in by President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday afternoon shortly after announcing the suspension of the substantive CJN, Justice Walter Onnoghen, who is facing charges of corruption before the Code of Conduct Tribunal.

The body of a two-year-old boy who fell down a 250-foot well has been found by rescuers after a 13-day rescue mission. Little Julen Rosello disappeared two weeks ago down the hole with the massive search ending in tragedy overnight.

Rescuers made the heartbreaking find about 1.25am local time today after digging out a 13ft horizontal tunnel by hand and reaching the spot they believed he would be trapped.

Civil Guard speologists will now go underground to bring the little boy’s body up to the surface.
Alfonso Rodriguez Gomez de Celis, a central government spokesman for Spain’s Andalucia region, confirmed: “Unfortunately at 1.25am this morning, the rescue teams have reached the point in the well where they were searching for Julen and have found the little boy’s body.

“The judicial commission has been activated. My condolences to the family. Rest in peace.”
The Civil Guard tweeted: “Unfortunately, despite the efforts of so many people, it has not been possible. Rest in peace Julen. Our most sincere condolences to the family.”

Parents Jose Rosello and Vicky Garcia were reportedly given the news by phone just minutes after rescuers made the heartbreaking find.
It is a tragic end to the search for Julen that unfolded when the tot fell down the well in a freak accident as his parents prepared a Sunday lunch paella.

Dad Jose told Spanish media how his son fell down the borehole around 2pm on Sunday as he was getting more firewood.

Eight rapists have been arrested and thrown in jail after their 13-year-old victim tracked them down on Facebook.

The schoolgirl was raped while walking home after spending a day with friends at a swimming pool in Velbert, a town in the Western German state of North Rhine-Westphalia.

As she walked along a forest path on her way home, she was ambushed by eight migrant boys from Bulgaria. The boys dragged her into the bush and took turns raping her.

A family friend, who went searching for the girl as she had not returned home, stumbled on the horrific scene and the boys fled.

Sadly, it looked as though they were going to go free as their identities were not known. But the brave girl tracked them down after vaguely recognising one of them. She gave police the boy’s picture and the suspect was arrested in town later that day.

Police found footage of the rape on the teenager’s phone and could easily identify the other seven perpetrators. Six of the schoolboys, aged between 14 and 17, were found guilty in October last year despite claiming that the 13-year-old victim consented.

The main suspect, aged 15, was sentenced to four years and nine months in prison after the court proved he raped the girl twice. Another schoolboy got four years in a juvenile detention centre for also raping the girl twice. Two other migrants were sentenced to two years and 20 months in a youth prison, while two walked free after receiving suspended sentences.

One 15-year-old boy was sentenced to two years and nine months in a youth prison, while another 15-year-old only got a 15-month suspended sentence for aiding the others.

This week, the seventh and eighth schoolboys were found guilty by a court in Wuppertal after they fled to Bulgaria to escape punishment but were picked up and extradited back to Germany.
