Deputy Minority Whip, Senator Biodun Olujimi, PDP, Ekiti South Monday denied reports that she was slapped by a staff of the National Assembly, just as she said that at no time did she ask her aide to slap anybody.

It was earlier reported earlier that there was drama at the new wing of the Senate complex in Abuja after a National Assembly official physically assaulted Senator Olujimi, just as it was reported that she directed her aide to “slap” the legislative official, who immediately responded in kind and also reported that that the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria, PASAN staff however slapped the senator and not her aide.

Senator Olujimi who has now spoken with journalist said..
“I went for a public hearing and I understood that there was another meeting upstairs so I got into a lift, yes it was a staff lift and I thought that everyone should be able in it and my security stood in front of me.

“Some gentleman and women came in and were abusing asking why he will shield anybody, get out this is our lift. One of them just pushed him and then they had altercation, I just came out and told them that it was wrong and that is what happened.”

When asked if she asked her aide to slap somebody, Senator Olujimi said…

“Could I have done that, is it possible, how can I ask anybody to slap. The boy came, and they brought him and I told him he should go because he knew that he didn’t do well. You didn’t do well because you were the one that slapped him. I didn’t even say a word all through because I stood at the back.

“It wasn’t my business it was the business of the security man. Yes I was in the staff lift. But what says we cant go in staff lift.

When I see people standing outside in distinguished senators lift, I also saw them to come in because I believe that is the way it should be. How could have slapped anybody at my age, and level. That is not possible.”

Nigeria Reggae-Dancehall act, Burna Boy has revealed his contributions to Canadian Rapper, Drake’s “More Life” album project.

The singer made this revelation during the listening party for his forthcoming album tagged “Outside”.
While speaking on how he met Drake in London and how meeting him resulted to their partner on the Canadian Rapper’s “More Life” project, Burna Boy spoke extensively on the level of hard he had to put into getting materials for Drake’s project.


In his words;
“I worked on 5 new songs for the project, and submitted them all.” he said
According to him, after getting confirmation from Drake’s team that one of the songs he wrote titled “More Life” will make the album but came out in different format and turned out to be the name of the whole album, he did not get deserved recognition and credit for writing a song that later broke the streaming charts on Billboard.

Burna Boy would later feature on the outro of the album ‘Get It Together’, which was a remake of South African DJ, Black Coffee, and Bucie’s 2010 single Superman.

The new version had UK singer Jorja Smith, singing about fixing a strained relationship. Burna Boy’s More Life was reworked and sampled at the outro of the record in an almost unrecognisable form.


“They told me they had picked it, but when the song came out it was…chopped.” Burna Boy said.

Burna Boy however said he has moved on from that episode and stated that the original version of the More Life song he wrote would be on his forthcoming album “Outside,” which is set for release on January 26th, 2018.

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) on Tuesday, January 23, said it would soon pick financiers for the country’s refineries in Port Harcourt, Warri and Kaduna.

A statement in Abuja by the NNPC Spokesman, Ndu Ughamadu, says this development will boost petroleum products supply and distribution in the country.


The statement quoted the NNPC group managing director, Maikanti Baru, as saying that agreements on the potential financiers for the refineries were being fine-tuned, following which the endorsement of the NNPC Board would be done this month.

“We are pushing towards the final selection of our financiers and we expect that when that is done, we’ll get the agreements and present them to our board meeting this month to secure their endorsement.

“Once we have the funding, we would start the rehabilitation of the refineries towards a 90 per cent capacity utilisation per stream day before the end of 2019,” Baru said.

He described the procedure for electing the financiers as painstaking, noting however that it is necessary to enable a desired closure on the subject.

Baru said the corporation was also encouraging new refining capacities to come on board, adding that there are two consortia that had indicated interest to co-locate refineries in Warri and Port Harcourt.

He said NNPC would provide whatever utility services the companies might require, such as power, processed steam, water and land, stressing that the corporation had agreed in broad terms on areas of collaboration to fast track the development.

“I’m happy to inform you that progress has been made, up to the level of an acceptable detailed engineering design and we are in the process of mobilising some of the refineries already identified for installation in Nigeria,” explained.

He said the Kaduna state government was also championing a proposal to co-locate another refinery close to the KRPC with the intent of sourcing Nigerien crude for its operations.

Baru further explained that other Greenfield refineries were to be brought on board soon in Kano and Kaduna, saying while on board, they will source their crude from Niger Republic.

He said the designs for the proposed refineries in Kano and Kaduna were ready and their construction would commence this year.

He disclosed that the Ministry of Petroleum Resources and the corporation were collaborating to encourage the establishment of modular refineries in the Niger Delta area to encourage job creation.

“So far, about 35 interests for modular refineries have been declared and the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) has issued licenses to about 13 and I have been invited to the ground breaking ceremony of the first one in Bayelsa next month,” Baru revealed.

He assured that the Federal Government and the NNPC would continue to encourage private sector initiatives that would bring in competition in the petroleum products supply and distribution network so as to guarantee energy sufficiency for the country.

He hinted that the corporation was also exploring other sources of energy that could substitute petrol in cars and motorcycles, describing the use of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) to power vehicles in Benin City as a right step in the right direction.

He said over 3,000 vehicles were now CNG-powered in the ancient city, making them “more secured, more efficient,” given that gas is a cleaner source of energy.

“Encouraging the development of infrastructure such as roads, railways and waterways are other means by which NNPC plans to lessen the pressure on PMS consumption,” he said.

He lauded the federal government for approving the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano pipeline project, noting that the gesture will go a long way in supporting NNPC’s transmutation into an integrated energy company.

He said the project, when completed, would create the needed back bone for Abuja’s 1,350 megawatts power plant, Kaduna’s 900 megawatts power plant and Kano’s 1,350 megawatts power plant.

A Senior Advocate of Nigeria has said that the declaration of a state of emergency over suspected herdsmen killing in Benue state is legally impossible.

The lawyer, Sebastine Hon, said speculations on such declaration by the presidency is would be baseless.

In a statement released on Wednesday, January 17, said an attempt by President Muhammadu Buhari to remove the Benue state governor, Samuel Ortom, in order to declare a state of emergency in Benue would lack constitutional backing.


Hon said: “ The social media is agog with speculations that the Presidency will soon declare a state of emergency in Benue State. Some of the media postings are suggestive of the ‘power’ of the President to overthrow the governmental structures in that state and to replace same with a sole administrator.

“Such speculation, though social media blogs, cannot be dismissed with a wave of the hand, in view, especially, of the orchestrated violent demonstrations in Makurdi on Saturday by the Hausa-Fulani, two days after the burial of the victims of the New Year massacre.

“The power to proclaim a state of emergency by the Presidency is provided for by Section 305 of the 1999 Constitution; and there is nothing in that provision, clear or latent, which imbues the President, or any authority for that matter, with any scintilla of power to remove or overthrow elected or appointed state officials. There being no such enabling provision, therefore, such arbitrary power cannot be implied; and if exercised, will be clearly illegal and unlawful," the statement said.

The senior lawyer said Section 1(2) of the Constitution provides in clear terms that the Federal Republic of Nigeria shall not be governed, nor shall any person or group of persons take control of the government of Nigeria or any part thereof, except in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution.

Hon also said that a state House of Assembly has its constitutional lifespan, which cannot be trammeled or tempered with by any person or authority.
"The phrases ‘any person or group of persons’ and ‘any part thereof’ above mean that no authority or group of persons shall, under any guise whatsoever, take control of, in this case, Benue State, except as provided for in the Constitution itself.

“And of course, the only way a state governor can be removed from office or can vacate his office is by impeachment, death, sickness of such a magnitude as to impair him from performing the functions of his office, or by resignation.

“Under our constitutional jurisprudence, therefore, both the appointer and the appointee to the office or position of Sole Administrator of a state will be acting in flagrant breach Section 1(2) and other relevant provisions of the Constitution," Hon added.

Hitng.com.ng has come across the tragic story of a masquerade that was killed by a hit-and-run driver in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state. The masquerade who was unidentified at the time of the tragic accident has been laid to rest.

A photo of the masquerade being taken to the cemetery by other masquerades has surfaced on social media. The photo showed the other masquerades in their work attire as they carried the deceased’s coffin.




In the photo, the masquerades were also seen with palm leaves as they carried the coffin on their way to the cemetery. It is believed that the palm leaves are part of a tradition among masquerades.

It was gathered that the deceased was killed by a hit-and-run driver who was trying to avoid another vehicle while driving on high speed.

The hit-and-run driver reportedly knocked the masquerade down on the Nwaniba Road by Use Offot in Uyo.

​Soldiers have arrested one Pascal Philip who has allegedly been terrorising Lagosians in the Isawo area of Ikorodu.


The suspect was apprehended on Tuesday, January 9 by troops of 174 Battalion, 9 Brigade.

According to Brigadier-General Sani KukashekaUsman who is the spokesperson of the army, the suspect was dressed in a camouflage outfit and extorting unsuspecting Lagosians.

The army urged Nigerians to provide valuable information to help curb activities of impersonators.

"The suspect who was arrested while molesting innocent civilians in Isawo falsely claimed to be a personnel of 174 Battalion, Nigerian Army. He was arrested dressed in camouflage T-shirt molesting, extorting and intimidating law abiding civilians in the area. The suspect is currently under going further interrogation and would soon be handed over to the police for further investigation and prosecution.

"The general public could help security agencies by reporting such persons parading themselves as military personnel and molesting innocent civilians to relevant military units and formations.

"You are please requested to disseminate this information to the public through your medium."

Meanwhile, Nigerian soldiers in the quest to maintain internal peace in the country

arrested a suspected gun runner with local guns on his way to meet up with one Damina Saminaka.

In a statement signed by Brigadier-General Usman on Wednesday, January 10, it was revealed that the suspect, Mohammed Bello, was apprehended along at Akwanga highway in Nasarawa state.

The suspect confessed that he purchased the weapons from one Dan Asabe Audu, a local blacksmith. On getting to his place, the soldiers discovered a gun manufacturing factory where he has been producing firearms for criminals.

​Governor Yahya Bello has announced that President Muhammadu Buhari will get more support and votes from Kogi state in 2019 as the state has already endorsed the president for as second term in office.

The governor made this statement on Friday, January 5, 2018, while speaking with State House correspondents after observing Jumaat service at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The Nation reports that the governor added that president Buhari will get more votes in Kogi state than in his home state, Katsina.

He said: “I’m sure you are following us as we are receiving decampees from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and all other political parties. And any time we hold any decamping rally in any local government area you will see the mammoth crowd that turns out.

“So, Kogi state has already endorsed President Buhari for second term. We are just waiting for the time to come. You are going to see the votes that will come out of Kogi state. It will dwarf that of Katsina state I can assure you.”
The governor, also added that his state is not owing workers' salaries.

He said: “In Kogi State today we are up to date as far as salary is concerned. In the month of December like Mr. President magnanimously assisted us with another tranche of Paris Club Refund, our own figure was N1.2 billion and some other change on top.

“We didn’t just stopped at that, we borrowed up to N10 billion and we added November/December allocation to our figures and we were able to clear four months at a stretch before Christmas and some left over were cleared before this January in Kogi state.

“As you all know the salary was very bogus and according to the figure we had we were able to distribute it among these months.

“Moving forward from this January, we have decided that we are going to make use of our clock-in device for every civil servant in Kogi State both at local and state levels. So that as you come to work and clock-in, that is exactly how your salary will end up being generated.
“It is online, it is automated so nobody is going to cheat anybody. That is how we are going to go in the state so Kogi state civil servants and pensioners will be happy with this administration.”

​Some Chinese students have begun moves to take up degrees in Hausa.

The report reaching Hitng.com.ng that the students said will hopefully, strengthen the diplomatic ties between Nigeria and China, Leadership reports.

The students who were at the Peking University’s International Culture Festival in Beijing which took place late October 2017, said, strengthening the relationship between Nigeria and China has become imperative as both governments need to focus on more people to people exchanges as well as developing economic partnerships.

One of the students Wu Dongjing, also known as Hafsatu (her adopted Hausa name) said she wants to learn Hausa to help communication between Nigeria and China.

Wu said: "Because I know that there are several communications between China and Nigeria, and I know that many Chinese have no knowledge of Nigeria, I want to gain more knowledge in order to help with communication between both countries."

She also said she hopes she visits Nigeria soon to learn more about its culture and way of life of the people.

“Actually, I have not been to Nigeria, but I know that in my level three (3) at university, we have the opportunity to go to Nigeria and I know that I will go to Nigeria and know more about this country,” she said.

Another student, Wu Lin, also known as Samira said she Hausa as a language has become interesting to her.

Samira said: “I think learning a different language and culture is very interesting to me, and these days Africa and China have a cooperative relationship."

I want to help the two countries with communication and cooperation. I think it’s very important,” she added.

Meanwhile a lecturer at the Beijing Foreign Studies University said everything concerning the plans for students to engage in studying Hausa is under control.

Li Chunguang, known as ‘Bako’ teaches Hausa language and Hausa literature at the university.

HitNg.com.ng earlier reported that the Abia state governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, had said some shoemakers from the southeast state would be sent for a training in China to develop their craft.

Ikpeazu said the state would purchase equipment for the establishment of Abia state shoe factory when the trainees arrive from China.

The governor said the shoe factory would be commissioned before the middle of this year.

​The Department of Fire Service in Zamfara on Wednesday, January 3 confirmed the death of four children in a fire outbreak that occurred at Awala Filin-Jirgi in Gusau metropolis in the state, NAN reports.

Abdullahi Jibo, Deputy Director, Fire Prevention and Public Enlightenment, made the confirmation during an interview in Gusau.

HitNg.com.ng gathers that Jibo said that the house affected by the fire belonged to a driver attached to the Government House, Gusau.

He said that four children, comprising two boys and two girls, lost their lives in the incident which occurred on Tuesday night, January 2.
“We received distress calls from the area on the fire around 10.00 p.m.

“Before we got to the place, the fire had already taken over the house; we exhausted four water tankers to control the disaster,” the fire officer said.

Jibo, who told HitNg said that the fire might have been caused by power surge, urged residents in the state to always comply with safety guidelines, to forestall a recurrence of such outbreak.

In a related development, HitNg previously reported that a police corporal, Jeremiah Yusuf, lost four of his five children to a fire outbreak which engulfed his residence as a result of the sudden restoration of light by the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) in Tudun Wada area of Gusau, Zamfara state.

The names of the deceased were Faith Yusuf (15), Emmanuel Yusuf (13), Angela Yusuf (10) and Favour Yusuf (7).

Alhaji Adebayo Shittu who is the minister of communications has said that President Muhammadu Buhari deserves to contest in the 2019 presidential elections due to his performance.


The Punch reports that the communications minister said although the president has not made up his mind, his supporters are already urging him to do so.

The minister spoke on Wednesday, January 3 after his meeting with the president in Abuja.

Shittu said Nigerians deserve to continue to enjoy the stability brought by the Buhari administration and thus his supporters will prevail on him to seek re-election.

He said: “It goes without saying. I mean if you have a child who goes to primary school and he does well; he proceeds to secondary school and he does well, and you keep asking if he will be going to university. It goes with out saying.


“By the grace of God, we his (Buhari’s) ardent supporters who appreciate his worth on behalf of millions of Nigerians would urge him to re-contest.

“I know he has not made up his mind but I can say that some of us can assist him in making up his mind so that Nigeria can continue to enjoy stability and progress in our land.”

Shittu said he took the opportunity of his meeting with the president to inform that he has appointed a national chairman of the Board of Trustees of Muhammadu Buhari/Osinbajo Dynamic Support Group.

According to The Cable, the minister also said campaign has started for the re-election of the president in the southwest.

He said: “Every day since he (Buhari) came into office, all his activities are geared towards letting Nigerians know that they have a saviour, a rescuer, somebody who is committed to providing relief for Nigerians in all respect.

“In the area of fighting corruption, insurgency whether in the north-east or the Niger Delta; in the area of repairing the economy and providing jobs and providing social stability in the society.

“You will agree with me that today but for Buhari, Boko Haram would have invaded even Lagos.”

News of the sad passing of Nigerian On-Air Personality, Olufemi Oluwajobi popularly known as Radio MD (Music Dynamite) has left the internet buzzing with grief. The radio presented was reportedly murdered by a drunk driver on January 1.



As the world welcomed 2018, Femi Olujobi who was a husband and father of one was taking his last breath on earth when an alleged drunk driver knocked him down to his death.

According to reports, Femi had finished his shift at work on December 31 and was on his way to join some friends at Palms Mall, venue of Ibadan Countdown, when tragedy struck.

Sadly, the family man had just celebrated his birthday few days prior on December 22 and was ready for the New Year as reflected in his actions on the very day.

Late Olujobi was said to have left his car at home in a bid to escape traffic and make the count down in time using a fast means of transportation.
Femi who left his wife and a child behind was laid to rest in Sango cemetery on January 2. May his soul rest in peace.

The Guild of Medical Directors has disclosed that Yusuf Buhari, the son of President Muhammadu Buhari, is now in stable condition, following his power bike accident, The Sun reports.

The disclosure was made by Professor Femi Dokun-Babalola, the president of the guild.


We gathers that the Guild of Medical Directors is a body of private medical practitioners; and the hospital where Yusuf is currently being treated, and where he was operated upon, Cedarcrest Hospital, is a member of the association.

Babalola stated that the guild was hoping for a complete recovery of the president’s son, but could not provide information on the exact circumstances of his accident.

The statement read in part: “We are saddened to hear about the unfortunate accident involving the son of our dear president on a power bike.

“While we cannot comment on the exact circumstances of the accident, we are happy that the situation is being efficiently handled by Cedarcrest Hospital in Abuja, one of the top Guild of Medical Directors-owned hospitals in Nigeria.

“It is heartening to note that his condition is now stable after undergoing brain surgery and we hope for a complete recovery from this unfortunate incident.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with President Muhammadu Buhari and his family at this time.”

Meanwhile, HitNg  previously reported that the presidency denied reports that Yusuf Buhari was flown out of the country to Germany for medical treatment.

​President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday joined fellow Muslims to pray for the quick recovery of his son, Yusuf, who was involved in a bike accident on Tuesday in Abuja.

The prayer session formed part of the Jumat prayers held in a mosque at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Government officials who participated in the session alongside the President were the Nasarawa State Governor, Tanko Al-Makura; Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu; and the Group Managing Director of NNPC, Dr. Maikanti Baru.

The prayer was led by the Chief Imam of Aso Rock Mosque, Sheik Abdulwahid Suleiman.

Others at the prayer session were presidential aides and villa staff, among others.

Suleiman urged the first family to “accept the tragedy in good faith.”

He prayed for God’s guidance and protection of the first family and all Nigerians.

The clergy man also prayed for peace and tranquillity in the country.

A similar prayer session was held on Thursday in the same mosque.

​Zimbabwe has had its first transgender wedding after a woman, who was born male, got married recently.

Briefly.co.za has established that Tatenda Zenzo Karigambe spent over $80,000 on gender reassignment surgery to become a woman.



According to myzimbabwe.co.zw , the surgery transformed Tatenda's reproductive organs from male to female.


She is now living as a "complete" woman and is legally registered as a female at Zimbabwe's Registrar-General's office.

Pictures shared online showed a proud Tatenda, also known by her nickname Tatelicious, dressed in a wedding gown alongside her husband, named only as Richard.

The wedding has caused a stir among Zimbabweans on social media. Many congratulated her on her big day and wished her all the best.

However, some slammed her for doing something they considered a "taboo" in their local culture.



Tatenda remained unfazed, however. In a video posted online, she thanked everyone for sending congratulatory messages and urged people to be true to themselves.

The Ogun State Police Command have confirmed the arrest of a 21-year-old man, Israel Oluranti for reportedly stabbing an 18-year-old man, Farooq Olusegun, to death.

The police spokesperson, Abimbola Oyeyemi, who confirmed this on Wednesday said the incident occurred at Ope-Ilu part of Agbado in Ifo Local Government Area of the State.

He said on December 25, trouble started when an argument ensued over a missing phone with the deceased accusing the suspect of taking it.
“This infuriated the suspect, consequent upon which he took one of the beer bottles around, broke it and stabbed the deceased on the chest,” Mr. Oyeyemi added.
He said the victim was quickly rushed to a nearby hospital but died in the way.

“The father of the victim, Kolawole Abiola lodged the complaint at Agbado Divisional Headquarter and the DPO, Omonijo Sunday detailed detectives to the scene where the suspect was promptly arrested,” he explained.

Mr. Oyeyemi said the commissioner of police, Ahmed Iliyasu, has ordered the immediate transfer of the case to the Homicide Section of State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for investigation.
