BusinessRe: How Much Did You Exchange The Dollar For Today? by homebase: 6:45am On Oct 12, 2015
I am sure the bank must be GTbank. I don't think it is a CBN policy must be internal one.

I also have some money i want to withdraw with GTbank.

Which bank did this? Which kind CBN stipulation?

Yes, that is the amount GTbank is charging when you use their naira master card to buy online.

I am surprised at some figures I am seeing here because I did a transaction with my GTB Mastercard paying for my domain on GoDaddy.com and was charged N220 = $1.

Well if it is an internally policy too bad for them.

I will have to move all my money to somewhere else.

Also i think you are right there no such CBN policy because after reading
your comment i visited the CBN website and i could not find any publication
to this effect.

Eyop:
Bro,i am not aware of this new CBN policy except this is only applicable to that GTB branch. You shouldn't have sold it to them except the USD wasn't much. I was @ access bank yesterday and a guy cashed USD over the counter and also wire transferred some funds too. Access bank is a neutral bank here and why is this CBN policy not affecting them? Well they succeeded in doing that to you but they can't try that with me.
BusinessRe: How Much Did You Exchange The Dollar For Today? by homebase: 9:22am On Oct 01, 2015
@Eyop

I went there yesterday and met with a senior officer who also confirmed to me that it is a new
CBN policy. You can't withdraw inflow deposit in cash, you can only electronically transfer it.

But cash withdrawal is allow on counter if the cash was previously deposited via counter.

Anyway, i painfully sold part of the money to them via my internet banking
at teeth gnashing rate of N199/$1) lipsrsealed

Eyop:
I have a personal USD account with GTB and Immediately i saw your mention,I called my account officer but she wasn't on sit and i requested i speak with the next person in charge and the gentle man i spoke with confirms again that you can withdraw your inflow in CASH. So i don't know which branch is playing pranks with you but my suggestion is to go back to the bank and display little madness insisting you want to close your account with them.

By so doing, they will pay you immediately in Cash. Don't allow banks mess with you because if you owe them money, they won't allow you rest. Do this and revert back with an update.
BusinessRe: Help!!! GT Bank Wont Release My $100 From Google Adsense by homebase: 9:03am On Oct 01, 2015
Yes i have withdrew it via internet banking.

It is just that the f*cking rate was abysmally low (N199.99/$1)

What you don't realize is guilty or not guilty, they can't kill him.

And when he come out, his blog will even become more popular, it happens
to many well know bloggers around the world.

For instance i never heard of him before, but know i am on google
searching for his names in order to find his blog.

Beside by what you are saying, the arrest has political undertone.
This case won't see the light of the day, mark it.

PS: Didn't i said it, they are making the guy a celebrity "
Isiaka, right groups condemn arrest of Amosun’s critic, Ojo"

See the front page of Google when i type the guy name, all Nigeria major newspapers and bloggers
are carrying the news:

https://www.google.com/search?q=Emmanuel+Ojo&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8#q=Emmanuel+Ojo+nigeria+blogger

Pataki:
Those of us who know sf Ojo, know that he deserves whatever is befalling him right now.

This guy has been carrying false news about Ogun State since Amosun's tenure began four years ago. He had been warned over and over again. He thinks the likes of Gbenga Daniel who had been backing him will suffice.

I personally had to delete him off my facebook list of friends when he kept becoming a nuisance especially during the last elections and he was campaigning for GEJ to return as the best President of Nigeria. I knew he was just an 'alatenuje' social media poster.

Now he is claiming that his facebook profile was hacked, and some mischievous elements planted the story on his facebook newsfeed.

I could have helped his case with the State Government, but he really needs to learn his lesson and go dust up his Mapoly certificate and make himself useful after this incident.

Eleweran is not an easy place to easily get out from once your case has been transferred there.
CrimeRe: Ogun Police Confirm Arrest Of Blogger by homebase: 1:05am On Sep 29, 2015
Why is everybody condemning the blogger, you guys have not even heard the guy side of the story.

Did you hear what the police is saying, they have arrested and detained the guy before investigation, what should
have being the other way round.

I am not saying the guy is innocent or not, that for the court to decide.

In normal society police would have done investigation, find evidence, arrest and charge him to court.

And to all of you feeling happy because of the guy arrest, i just pray you won't fall victim of this system.

Let follow normal procedure please.

Do you think those morons at helm of affairs at CBN presently know what they doing.

They are just throwing any available punches at the thin air.

Little wonder The Economist magazine was accusing them of hurriedly
making policies without thinking it through.

paschu:
grin grin grin

Boy, this is no rant at all. You're flat out spot on.

I feel the ache too. I'm a pro freelance writer,
who work 99.9% for foreign clients. It was not
funny at all last month when I wired a few dollars to
my dorm account but was told by the bank that
I could not e paid cash. So instead of the 220/dollar
the aboki was willing to give me, I wound up getting
ripped off by the bank at 199/dollar lipsrsealed

Right now I have about $400, but really wish there's
someone else to sell it to digitally rather than those
lechers erroneously called banks. Not their fault though.
It's the CBN that won't let Naira to find its levels naturally.

Not yet and it is so painful.

Now i want to pay for my internet marketing monthly tools: proxies and VPS.

I don't have fund in my naira mastercard, so i will be forced to sell to GTbank tonight
at least $100 out the money at N199/$1 instead of aboki rate N220, can you imagine the shortage?

The most annoying thing using Gtbank naira master card to buy now they w charge outrageous rate.

This is nothing but day, evening and night robbery.

BusinessRe: Help!!! GT Bank Wont Release My $100 From Google Adsense by homebase: 9:23am On Sep 28, 2015
Yes, you can not cash out. That is challenge i am facing since last week.

As a matter of fact, this issue made me activated internet banking and bought
their token.

But when i try to sell the dollar to GTbank via their FX sale internet bank
the rate at which they want to buy made me cancel the transaction.

This week i am preparing to close GBank account and go to another bank.

Promise323:
Wait guys, is this really true? That adsense earnings that was sent to me this month by adsense to my GT Bank savings account, that I will not cash it out?
BusinessRe: How Much Did You Exchange The Dollar For Today? by homebase: 9:13am On Sep 28, 2015
Right now i am regretting the day i walked into GTbank and opened account with them.

Can you image? They are still insisting i can't withdraw in cash an inflow i received from Google into my dom account.

I even chatted with them on their bank website, they are all singing the same songs.

@Eyop, are you banking with GTbank as well?

Eyop:
Any inflow received in your Dom account can be withdrawn in Cash or can be transferred from Account A to B within the same Bank OR wire transferred out of the country completely. Wire transferring the funds received from Bank A to Bank B within Nigeria isn't achievable.
BusinessRe: Is Gtbank Anti-business? by homebase: 3:25pm On Sep 24, 2015
I don't really know what is wrong with GTbank this day.

In their good days (not any more), i can't remember number of people i had one on one
evangelized the good tidings of GTbank ( those days) and as a result opened accounts with them.

Nowadays GTbank is first to implement any CBN obnoxious policies such as dollarization.

Now i am having my international inflow foreign exchange deposit hanging with GTbank.

I guess it is time to change bank and bid GTbank bye.
BusinessRe: How Much Did You Exchange The Dollar For Today? by homebase: 10:24pm On Sep 23, 2015
Many of nairaland threads were i am asking are saying the same thing GTbank is telling me.

That i can't collect foreign inflow in cash via counter, that it is a new CBN policy.

That you can only collect cash only when you deposit cash.

Another guy opened a thread on nairaland business section facing similar challenge with GTbank.

On a serious note, this CBN governor is confused. Because just last August all
Nigerian banks told member of the public that they won't be receiving foreign currencies
as deposit into dom accounts again saying they are acting on the CBN directive.

But today the same CBN is saying you can only withdraw foreign currencies cash from
your dom account only if it was cash deposited.

Confusion banking regime.

coderXO:
If your inflow is from overseas you can collect it cash.
BusinessRe: Help!!! GT Bank Wont Release My $100 From Google Adsense by homebase: 3:12pm On Sep 23, 2015
As i am also facing similar situation with Op but i have internet banking with token.

But when i tried to use GTBank FX sale option, their exchange rate was ridiculous to say the least,
( $1=#199.something i don't remember).

When i call an operator in Ikeja, he said he is buying $1=#220, see the difference.
Had it been the guy is doing internet banking, i would have been very happy.

But i called a black market operator (ikeja) and he said $1 = #220.

Because i also have an inflow i want to sell via internet banking but i am in Ijebu Ode.

Beside i have issue with Gtbank not releasing the money over counter except through internet banking.
BusinessRe: Help!!! GT Bank Wont Release My $100 From Google Adsense by homebase: 2:51pm On Sep 23, 2015
@thegame, are you one of them? Only God know where these people are getting their economy theories.

Because around August this year, GTBank sent email to customers that she won't accept or has suspended
receipts of foreign currency cash deposits into domiciliary accounts.

And @ thegame here is defending them by saying " And If you pay in cash deposits of the foreign currency,
you get cash at the counter"

What a contradiction! when the GTBank said in the quote above she has stopped accepting foreign currency
cash deposits into domiciliary accounts.

Banking and economy policies confusion everywhere.

thegame:
@OP...it's CBN Policy. Your title is misleading. You made it seem like GTBank is keeping your money from you without just cause or something.

We all know how our economy is really struggling and trying to tackle corruption, money laundering, fall in naira value and so on. We just have to bear with the changes and/or inconveniences for now.

The policy states that if your business or account doesn't generate cash deposits, you dont get paid cash. So if you get paid via transfer, you only transfer out also. And If you pay in cash deposits of the foreign currency, you get cash at the counter.

I can only suggest you use internet banking to get this money out. If you have naira accounts, activate internet banking and Purchase a token device at any of their branches and try to convert the money to naira, then withdraw anywhere, anyhow you want it.

By the way, i hope you are aware of the limit on daily overseas spending limits on naira mastercard as well. It's happening with all banks, not only GTB.
BusinessRe: Help!!! GT Bank Wont Release My $100 From Google Adsense by homebase: 2:33pm On Sep 23, 2015
Please i am also in the same situation with the Op.

My $300 adsense is left in the hanging with Gtbank.

I was told yesterday i can't withdraw via counter except
through internet banking.

So right there yesterday i activated internet banking and collected token ( i coughed out un-budgeted #2,105)

I guess it is time to change bank.

So @nickyvi or anyone, how do i make the transfer?

Side Ranting: While Nigerian youths are working hard to stabilize naira and the economy via bringing in foreign currencies
by working online as freelancers, affiliate marketers, forex traders, kindle publishers e.t.c, some few people who are fortunate
to be sitting under corporate A/C are making obnoxious and anti digital economy age banking policy base on outdated theories
they copy from 1875 Economics text books.

If they don't watch it and observe what digital economy is saying, they will soon run many of their company aground.

Off ranting.

Making all inflow foreign currency funds useless?

When the government herself is relying on inflow of hard currency via crude oil sales.

I guess you saying this to buy at cheaper rate, right? Try harder.

Yes dolariisation has affected all foreign currency deposits in nigeria. Infact they plan to make the funds completely useless soon.

Yes i am just re-reading the email GTbank sent sometimes back concerning the issues (See the email below).

The content of the email did not specify that you can't withdraw on counter. The GTbank staff must be feeling
lazy and not ready to attend to me.

I will go back today and demand to see any senior staff.

Temporary Suspension of Foreign Currency Cash Deposits

[b]Please be informed that due to the unavailability of outlets for managing foreign currency cash deposits, we have found it necessary to temporarily suspend receipts of foreign currency cash deposits into domiciliary accounts at all our branches nationwide from Monday, 3rd of August 2015.

In addition, foreign currency cash deposits into domiciliary accounts made prior to this notice will not be eligible for outward electronic transfer and can only be withdrawn as cash.

Please note that this temporary measure, does not affect electronic transfer of funds into or from your domiciliary accounts and, you will continue to have access to foreign currency cash withdrawals from your account.

Whilst we have had to take this step to temporarily suspend foreign currency cash deposits, we would like to assure you that we are working hard at finding alternative outlets and a quick solution to this situation.

Kindly accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience this might cause.
Thank you for banking with us.
