by George Akpayen 08 March 2013, 05:46 The 2012/13 season of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) kicks off this Saturday with the southeast derby between Enugu Rangers and Enyimba but supersport.com combs the nation's top flight to unearth youngsters with precocious talents who will light up the championship this term. In spite of Kaduna United and defending champions, Kano Pillars, missing out on signing a super talent in Moses Daddy-Ajala Simon, here's a handful of youngsters to watch in this campaign: Zuzu Benjamin (Nembe City) He is an exciting midfielder, who was instrumental in City's promotion to the top flight. Zuzu was snapped up from the youth ranks of rivals, Bayelsa United last season. His vision and composure on the ball puts him in a good stead to put up a fine display in the NPFL. Abu Azeez (Kwara United) He joined Kwara United from Bridge FC in December. Azeez is a key member of Nigeria's beach soccer team, the Supersand Eagles, but will make his debut in the top flight this term. The striker is pacy and swift on the turn with the ball and will trouble many defenders. He can also hit the ball with precision. Isa Aminu (Kaduna United) This left-footed defensive midfielder will wow followers of the NPFL this term with his pace, guile, defensive ability and ball distribution skills. The former FC Abuja is making his debut in the top flight. Bobby Kingsley Sokari (Enyimba) Six-time champions, Enyimba, landed this teenage midfielder in what many have described as a coup considering that he was spotted at grassroots tournament in Rivers where rivals, Dolphins and Sharks, are based. Sokari's style of play is likened to that FC Barcelona star, Andres Iniesta and the People's Elephants have a player to help them orchestrate their offensive moves this season. Precious Omodu (Kaduna United) Omodu, 18, is elegant when on the ball and his lanky frame does not inhibit his ball distribution skills and feints. Last term, the teenager was farmed out on loan to National League club, Spotlite FC by Kaduna United to continue his football education. The offensive midfielder is now ready for the rigours of the top flight. Ichull Lordson (ABS) Lordson is a powerful holding midfielder, who harries his opponents and tackles well. He is full of energy and running and can play in a roving role in the middle of the pack. He is one of several players at ABS from the Kwara Football Academy (KFA). Osagona Ighadaro (3SC) In pre-season, Ighadaro has not just been only impressive but lethal in front of goal. He scored 17 goals in 21 appearances to emerge 3SC's leading scorer in pre-season. He is capable of re-enacting same scoring form as his shooting skills is talk of the town in Ibadan. Happy Okuoka (Heartland) He had heads turning in awe during the Super Four with his performance for Heartland. He capped his display with two goals at the pre-season tournament in Kano. Okuoka also scored against Nigerian champions, Kano Pillars, to help his team win the Super Cup in December. The striker, who joined the Naze Millionaires from Lagos team, Paddysco FC, is clinical in front of goal and skilful. Christian Pyagbara (Sharks) The Blue Angels will definitely miss this skilful midfielder as he is away on international duty with Nigeria's Under-20 team in Algeria. The teenager has a sweet left foot and is a natural number 10 with an eye for goal. He is expected to add impetus to Sharks' campaign when he returns from international duty. Thompson Ezekiel (Enugu Rangers) He was in the radar of Cameroonian club, Cotonsport before he was snapped up by Enugu Rangers. The former El-Kanemi striker is adept in holding up play and bringing his teammates into the scheme of things. Ezekiel also scores goals. http://www.supersport.com/football/nigeria/news/130308/Stars_to_watch_in_NPFL_this_term |

kaorama: I pity u. Ur submission lacks vigour and credibility. U sound like a defeated foe. Dont just talk cos u have to say something. If u dont know the best way to fight ur battle, then keep ur mouth closed.Pity yourself because you need it more, unlike your likes that can't think for themselves, i am someone who knows how to recognize the hand of Jacob no matter how perfect you are in mimicking the voice of Esau. When Nigerians start reasoning properly, then and then would we start moving forward. You think APC didn't check well enough before picking APC? only foolish people would think PDP has nothing to do with this new development. |
Even the blind knows that this is the hand of PDP. nothing more, nothing else. Even if APC ended up choosing another acronym, PDP and INEC would still come up with this same line. God pass una! |
Policewoman: What exactly did those students do to their teachersThey were playing hide and seek with their teachers. |
Boring! |
Afam4eva: For some reason, i feel Northerners know how to pull the crowd. I've also seen Sani Abacha stadium filled to the brim when Pillars are playing. It's similar to what Enyimba used to have when they won the champions league. I wish our clubs will do more to attract fans to the stadium. I remember seeing a video of match played in the 70s or 80s between Rangers and Insurance and the stadium was filled to the brim.Sure, it's going to happen if we continue supporting them. |

Kano Pillars produced players like Abiodun Baruwa who has since played for Swiss, Austrian, Welsh and British Clubs and Sani Kaita who later plays for Sparta Rotterdam in the Netherlands. Another Prominent player is Ahmed Garba 'Yaro Yaro' who later plays for Akademisk Boldklub in Denmark. It was registered as a limited liability company with the Corporate Affairs Commission of Nigeria, and then registered with the Nigeria Football Association (NFA) as a professional football club.

This thread is for the current NPFL champions, the leader of the Nigerian league, the best club in the NPFL, the most entertaining club in the NPFL, you just can't discard this club when talking about the Nigerian league. they remain the best. 2009 Champions League They are also nicknamed "Ahly Killers" as they scored 2 magnificent goals in Egypt and drew with Al-Ahly Cairo in Egypt 2-2 and 1-1 in Nigeria, so the Ahly killers went to the Group Stage in the African Champions League on the away goals rule. They made it to the semifinals before being eliminated against fellow Nigerian team Heartland F.C. [edit]Achievements Nigerian Premier League: 2 2008, 2012. National Second Division: 1 1995. What and what do you have on them and are they in the NPFL? |
Eze Promoe: I've already opened a dolphins thread before I saw this.where? Should lock this up then. |
CFCfan: I'll create that thread shortly.done |
RedReact: The team I fear most is that Pillars team. No doubt about it, they play good football; whether home or away and they also receive wide support from fans like The Aba Elephants.you can't name the 1st 4 clubs in the npfl without pillars, they're a very strong team especially when salisu mohammed ( the current under 17 coach abi na under 20) was their coach. Their fans are so passionate and the stadium's always filled up whenever they play @ home. Great club i tell you. Later, i'll set up a thread for them. |
Afam4eva: I thought you were a Pillars supporter through and through because you were happy when Pillars robbed Rangers of the title last season.how did they rob rangers? It was the npl board that took the decision and not pillars, remember what happened to ocean boys? Infact baribote the yeye ex-chairman caused the whole thing and almost destroyed the league. Funny thing is that he's the owner of nembe fc that dealt with heartland lol. As for insurance, a particular rich man in benin claimed he was the owner of the club (i think his name should be chief brown or thereabout). He really caused alot of problems for the club. Hopefully bendel insurance'll gain promotion this season. |
Afam4eva: Why you no go prefer Kano pillars jerseyi like pillars because they play cute football like my insurance of 2006/2007. After bendel insurance comes pillars. Dunno why insurance is wallowing in div 1 for almost 4-5 seasons now. Oshiomole is not a football fan at all even with the beautiful ogbemudia staduim he refurblished, he still can't help the team financially to gain promotion. |
RedReact: The jersey fine, no be small. What stops me from buying one as a supporter of my team? Gone are the days we loved adorning the Green White Green shirt; haaaa!!! European football don relegate us no be small.i like the jersey but not a blue lover, i prefer kano pillar's jersey or that of lobi stars. |
Sisebuto: Good morning everybody. Weekend has finished. Trading week has just started. And we are in the same situation. I dont know nothing. I ask to everybody who has participed in this thread what can do it. This was the situation during 1.5 years with me and 2 years with Jani. News proposals, news accounts, paypal, monneybookers, wire transfers, ect.... and nothing. And lies, and more lies. This was because I decided open the website and post here. Anyway, thanks to everybody ....Calm down, you have done your bits, let the government agencies take over, you have reported the case and they are already on it, whichever comes first, either the money or the punishment, one's surely going to come first. |

Hi Traders, I make my suggestions every day based on where I see the market heading over the next 24 hours. Use my analysis below to aid your trading and to help you keep on the right side of the market. My suggestions are posted by 6pm EST each day. Just to let you know that Monday's trade analysis, when the market opens at the beginning of the new week (Sunday if you are in the US/Europe) are usually the hardest to pick and if you wanted a day off trading, that would generally be the day to choose. The reason being; I am looking at the previous week's prices and the new open prices for the week when making my analysis on a Monday and of course many things can happen between the close of the market one week and the opening of the market the next week and the market sentiment can often change. Just bear this in mind each Monday. I have just uploaded a new trading commentary video to my website. In the video I discuss the importance of exhaustion candles when looking for Continuation and Reversal Price Action Patterns. Please click on my signature below to view the video Overall there is strength in the USD and CAD. Overall there is weakness in the EUR, CHF, GBP, NZD, JPY. Buy Trades - USD/JPY, USD/CHF, CAD/JPY, CAD/CHF Sell Trades - EUR/USD, EUR/CAD, GBP/USD, GBP/CAD, NZD/USD Happy Trading, Andrew |
Slankey: Lanspower, please take your time to study the league. Just today being the week 1, we recorded an away win in Owerri between Heartland vs Nembe city which Nembe won. Pls lets support the league.i tell you, the foreign league weren't like this in the past, it's because of its wide followers hip, why can't we support our own. We shall be doing live match cast here every match day, and also expose any team that wants to behave fraudulent. Thank youkano pillars also won an away match against wiki tourist. |
Lanspower: ...And next time 3SC are away to Gombe it will be Gombe 2 - 3Sc 0(1)....or at worst it is 0-0, 1-1, or 2-2. As much as I laud the OP's effort to garner recognition for our own league, I still beleive it is a complete waste of time to watch this league when there are other leagues playing to the rule of football. Do me a favour by presenting the full results of Our league for say 4 weeks and show me where a home team lost, then present result of EPL, La Liga or Serie A where no home team lost in the past 4 weeks.you no nothing about our league, why not learn? How can you be using 10yrs story to judge the league? Infact, lets even go down your lane, how many of the top clubs in the top league lose at home? Go away with your negative blood, stick to the foreign leagues and leave those who love the local league alone! |
Roland17: League officiating has improved greatly, in the past it was nearly impossible for away teams to record away wins, Draws away from home were celebrated like 3 massive points, but i am glad to see away team win all three points in the NPL now, its not officiating is perfect now, but i can say its better than it was 10 years ago.bro, you're not current jor, winning away games started under obaseki led npl almost 6 yrs ago but it has improved greatly sha. Last season, rangers and kano pillars won alot of away games. As for officiating, its getting better with time. |
