Family › Re: Why Do The Poor Have More Babies? by honeric01(m): 2:31am On Oct 19, 2011 |
ATLgal: I think he is using the term "poor " in the loose context not a strict definition. and he didn't use the word rich . he simply means "well off" or better than poor. if you make $45k per year you are "richer" and half the world population.
and YES there is a correlation. but people are NOT poor because they are uneducated, they are uneducated because they are poor. they have less access to educational resources. think of kids who go around hawking in lagos instead of going to school because they need the money. that is the correlation. same is true in the states as is elsewhere. I've done loads of research relating to the subject. (you can pick up a few books, the ethnic myth , being one. There are of-course always exceptions to the case, you can find rich/ poor people to fit any definition you want but it doesn't change the reality for most people. I prefer you rather work with what the OP said and not what you're imaging he said, he used the word "poor" not "well off" so take note. Making $45k in America (since that's the currency and country you're using) is not classified under being rich, the rich guys's earnings in the US starts from $100k upward, $45k is average or at the lower comfort level, 60k is comfortable and mid way, 75k upward is comfortable and at the highest comfort level. $45k/12months is like $3,7k, when you pull out tax and all that, you'd know that a $45k per annul earner is no rich guy. I repeat again, not going to school does not mean you're going to be poor, stop thinking education = wealth, nah, being educated does not make you rich, it's what you do with the education, so also being a mechanic won't make you rich, but what you make out of it. Being a trained welder won't make you rich, but what you make out of it, let's stop deceiving ourselves, always thinking certificates equate wealth, rather what you do with that certificate, learned trade, learned skills is what makes one rich. Education is not gotten only from the four walls of the university or thereabout, rather education is all about knowledge be it from the school, apprentice's store or anywhere, as long as that knowledge changes something in your life (In a positive way). Please the loads of research you did, can you share with us how you arrived at your conclusion, the tools you worked it, the samples you took, the region and areas of concentration and whataview? finally back to topic: Being poor should never be blamed on lack of education (university education as most Nigerians believe and always think to). we have rich farmers, welders, e.t.c without university education and they are doing just great. And being rich should also never be attributed solely on being educated, rather on what you did with what you've got. |

ATLgal: So he made a poor choice of words, don't crucify him. There is a correlation between education AND poverty. lets not try to pretend it doesn't exist Nah, no correlation, i hope you know what RICH means? being rich is not determined by how educated you are. Most educated people are comfortable and not necessarily rich. statistics have it that most of the rich/wealthy people across the globe are people without a degree. poverty should not be blamed on not being educated, we have farmers, businessmen without former education employing and feeding people with degrees. |

Some people here are really educated illiterates, why tie poverty to fruitfulness?
How many kids do most of our elected officials have? traditional rulers? chiefs? imams? pastors? politicians?
does it mean they are also poor?
how many of you here have less than 3 siblings? if you are more than 4 in number, then should i say your parents are also poor, ignorant, idle, sick and frustrated for having more than 4 kids? (since 4 is the WHO's perfect number).
Is being educated = rich? uneducated = poor?
i was expecting to see something like "why are uneducated people having more kids than the educated" and not the word "poor" |

lagerwhenindoubt: Amodu was judged on the back of several top-flight Continental and International competitions after which the FANS, the NFF and even the Media declared him persona non-grata. He is as competent as a drunk fixing a laptop. If he is so competent, at least he should be coaching a highly or lowly-rated African Team since his ignominious SACK from the Coaching Position. He is stale news and he better face it squarely and stop nibbling at the cheese he could not handle.
Siasia was also judged on the back of several highly successful competitions at the junior level and this is really his first dibs at the senior team, why are we so quick to judge him on the back of this performance. I think he should revamp the Team, how old is our star Striker Osaze. that guy should be having grey hairs on his gonads We need a rejuvenated, youthful team not the fancy pansies wearing beatsbydre headphones and smiling like imps (i gats beef) I bet Bayelsa United is also a youth team? Heartland also a youth team? He coached another club like this too, now can you give us his stats on these clubs? |

honeric01: Siasia! Siasia!! Siasia!!! How many times i call u? Never trust any Nigerian fan, never! A word is enough, honeric01: I never knew you were the one that was the assistant that was giving Amodu the instructions, yeye people, no one's holding Siasia from performing, you guys should let AMODU be, can't you guys just let him be? is he that important in your lives that you people can't stay without mentioning his name?
Amodu was employed by the NFA 3 times with 3 different assistants on these occasions, are you trying to say it was his assistants that were calling the shots during these 3 stints with the SE? he never failed to deliver his TARGET.
Leave the man alone, he has SERVED his fatherland to the fullest, now WHAT HAVE YOU DONE FOR YOUR FATHERLAND |

Relax101: Siasia must remain till and take us to Brazil 2014. So that he can waste our time and money again? In 10 months alone, Siasia earned nothing less than 33 million naira, yet failed to give us the smallest of his task, qualify us for the nations cup. |

emiye: .
Your illustration might not really apply, but anyways i believe you can not promote such a worker in that context, but you might not sack him. I work in a manufacturing firm. Machines do breakdown, and produce lots of scrap, while you try to run it, and you fail to meet your customers demand even when you have previously observed the maintenance schedule, The Manager will assess the situation critically, checking the rootcause of the problem, the antecedents of the operator e.t.c at the .Only a bad manager without conducting this analysis will heap failure to produce at that scenario solely on the machine operator.
If all you do as a manager is sacking your operator and replacing the operator, anytime the machine breaksdown. You are in for a big trouble at the long run ( i have seen this happen in real life production floor)
The Machine is the SE Players, Operator is the Coach, Manager is NFF Your illustration get comma, In Siasia's case, the owner of the company gave him options, i mean he was given the room to pick whichever machine he wants to work with, he was even given the room to import or export any machine he wanted, yet he failed, so give me another excuse. |
