Maigari leads, Odegbami chances narrow Posted: 2010-08-23 06:55 Current NFF President Aminu Maigari is in the forefront of the race to retain his position, while Segun Odegbami's chances have slimmed down considerably. Maigari took over from the impeached Sani Lulu in July, and has gingerly navigated a political minefield during the period. His handling of the postponement crisis has won him the backing of the majority of the Delegates for Thursday's elections, some of whom told KickOffNigeria.com that he has shown his ability to handle difficult situations. "For now, he is the one most of the delegates are likely to vote for, unless something happens," one delegate said. By contrast, the rejection of the postponement petitions by the General Assembly have seriously compromised Odegbami's chances of getting elected. The former international was at the forefront of the campaign to get the elections postponed to allow State FA elections to hold first. But the NFF Congress, made up mostly of State FA chairmen, rejected the calls, with majority of them in danger of losing their positions in the event of any such election. "He wanted us to lose our positions so that new people can come in and vote. How will he now come to us to campaign," said another delegate. "It is better for him to simply step down honourably now, because he may be disgraced." Former NFA Secretary General Tijani Yusuf, and a past NFF Consultant Shehu Dikko have also emerged as frontrunners behind Maigari. |

folem:That's what i am telling you, these council people don't have to conduct any election themselves because they automatically qualifies to vote for the state FA, or where on the article was it written that the clubs in the states have to conduct election within themselves first before they determine who's eligible to vote for the state FA members? |

Chibuzor says Rangers is ready for next season Chief Executive Officer of Rangers International, Ozor Paul Chibuzor has boasted that the team is ready for next season. Chibuzor told NPL official website that everything is set to make the team regain its past glory next season. “I must confess that we made some mistakes last season which denied us a continental ticket. But we are ready to compete for honours next season. “We have also identified some players that will join us very soon. The team will be fortified with about six new players, because we realise that the core of the side must remain. “That will give us a very tight team and I am already looking ahead to a good season where we will finally break the jinx of not winning any trophy for a long time. “All I want our supporters is that they will smile at the end of next season,” Chibuzor said. Rangers finished in the fifth position in the Nigeria Premier League last season and were also knocked out in the semi finals of the FA Cup by Kaduna United. |
Slovenian eager to return to Pillars Slovenian coach, Ivo Sajh, has told MTNFootball.com he wishes to return to Nigerian club Kano Pillars to complete some 'unfinished business'. Sajh led Pillars to the semi-finals of last year's CAF Champions League only to depart the team soon after under a cloud. "Reaching the semi-finals of the Champions League was no mean achievement for this team, but I also know that we could have gone all the way and won the trophy but for some problems in the team by the time we clashed with Heartland in the semi-finals," Sajh told MTNFootball.com. "That is why I wish to return to the club and ensure that next year, Pillars are champions of Africa." Sajh was suspended and his tactics and team selection questioned by Pillars management by last year's semi-final against fellow Nigerian club Heartland. He will thereafter leave for his native Slovenia while also complaining that the club had breached certain clauses in his contract. "The problem was lack of communication between me and the officials. This will not happen again when I return," he argued. Last season, Pillars finished as runners-up in the Nigeria Premier League and will represent the country along with champions Enyimba in next year's CAF Champions League. |
Zamfara Coach dream of a successful season ahead Head coach of Premier League side, Zamfara United F.C of Gusau, Coach Alhassan Mohammed, has promised the club’ numerous fans that the coming 2010/2011 season will be one that will see the team contesting for honours with the top class teams for a place in the continent. In an exclusive telephone chat with www.npl.com.ng, the youthful coach stated that with the players he is assembling for the coming season, there is no way for his side to be among the strugglers as he expects to keep the bunch of players that helped him steer the team out of relegation waters last season. “We are doing all we can to ensure that we emerge amongst the top four sides next season and we are not joking about our intentions. We hope to retain the bunch of players that helped us last season and looking to replace those that will be willing to go to other clubs with some quality players that we are already discoursing with. I am very optimistic that the coming season will be one for Zamfara United,” enthused the coach who is still holidaying in Benin. The former Bendel Insurance and Julius Berger veteran further stated, “Our first game with Bukola Babes will no doubt be an interesting one but I assure you that we will start early to gather the points from that very game as every point gained in any game will to a very large extent enhance our dreams of rubbing shoulders with the more established sides in the premiership.” |

Rangers Chief applauds Technical crew and players Enugu Rangers International Chief Executive Officer, Ozo Paul Chibuzor, has applauded the efforts of his technical crew and players in the just ended premiership season for their efforts in picking a ticket to represent the country in next year’ sub-regional club football competition, WAFU cup. In an exclusive chat with www.npl.com.ng, Chibuzor poured encomiums on the technical crew led by Coach Alphonsus Dike for their general performance during the just ended season that saw Rangers emerging the best defensive side in the league and placing fifth in the twenty team log and playing for the third place in the Federations cup. “Surely, our performance could have been better but I have to give kudos to the technical crew and the players for their determined effort at re-launching the fortunes of the club in the ended season. I am pretty sure that with a little more effort we will get there in the coming season. Also, I have to say that picking a ticket to play in the WAFU cup was no mean feat. I will say that getting this far should be celebrated considering the fact that the club has not gotten to this level for a long while,” stated the club boss. He further said, “We are already in the market seeking quality strikers to help us bury the numerous chances that we create in most games that we play. Our search will not be limited to the shores of the country as our dragnet will include players from other countries in the sub-region.” On the payment of the players and officials entitlements for the ended season, the CEO said, “As soon as we get back to Enugu from Kano, everything about sign-on fees will be sorted out and we plan ahead for the coming season. Rangers beat Sunshine Stars 2-1 in the third place game of the Federation Cup last week. |
Effugh: Heartland will win Premier League trophy next season The new Premier League season starts September 25th, and one player who is so sure that his team will not only do well, but will win the trophy is Heartland of Owerri midfielder, Chinedu Effugh. The former Rangers of Enugu defender told the NPL official website that nothing will stop the team from winning the trophy next season. “A lot of people will think I am just boasting. But I have looked at our team and what is going on and I have this confidence that no team will be able to stop us. “We have a good team. And as long as we retain majority of the players, I don’t see how any club side in the country will be able to match us. “And our management have taken the welfare of the players very serious. So it will be real business for us when the new season begins. “I want to tell other clubs to watch out for us. We are getting ready and the Champions League matches will also help us prepare for the new season. “Heartland will certainly be the team to beat next season,” Effugh boasted.

Rangers drop 15 players Rangers of Enugu will drop 15 players from the squad of last season to make way for new ones. According to the media officer of the club, Foster Chime, the names of the players will be released in the next two days and that will signal the preparation for next season. “We have short listed 15 players for the drop because we don’t need them for next season. We have been able to retain the players we need for next season and we are also on the verge of signing some quality players. “These players that would be dropped did not meet up to the expectations of the coaching crew and they will be asked to look for other clubs. “Most of them did not play up to five matches throughout the season and we cannot continue to retain such players. “Rangers will certainly be stronger next season. That is a promise and the Enugu State Government is ever ready to support the team,” Chime said.

jamace:Well, he's been responding, so let the accuser come and face him, he might be controlling these monies, but that does not mean he's ready to throw money away to anyone just because someone said he crashed his account. So let's wait and see what newworldcapital got to say. |
Five clubs fight over Eugene Salami The race to sign on league record goal scorer, Eugene Salami is getting hotter as five clubs are presently locked in a battle to get his signature for next season. NPL official website can reveal today that Heartland of Owerri, Sharks of Port-Harcourt, Sunshine of Akure, Kwara United of Ilorin and Kano Pillars are the clubs that are jostling to get Salami on their pay roll. Salami said that he is presently considering the offers and would make his intention known very soon. “All the clubs have discussed with me. But there are factors that I will consider before I make my decision. “But it is a good thing that these clubs are seriously looking for me. It shows they recognise my efforts last season when I equalled the record of Ishaya Jatau and Akarandut Orok. “I will soon join one of these clubs and take my football career to another level,” Salami boasted. |
keni:You dey mind that beejay of a guy? ![]() |
We would like to hear more from newworldcapital, you can't just post a thread and not back it up with more evidence, there's nothing to actually show that the accused is guilty of any offence, it doesnt work this way. And i also advise odiaero to stop cussing, rather let the house know what happened between you too. |
