There is nothing illegal about the NFF congress extending the tenures of States FA Chairman so as to have a harmonised calendar of elections because the state elections have always been held at different periods and some have not had elections for many years.

FIFA extended the tenure of Iraq FA by 1 year earlier this month and FIFA President's tenure was similarly extended by 1 year some years ago.

It is not compulsory to hold State FA elections before National elections just like it is not compulsory to hold CAF or UEFA elections before FIFA elections.

It is only people who have just smelled the coffee that they were going to lose the elections that are complaining about a decision made 2 years ago.

It's purely illegal bro whichever way you look at it, the people in office when that decision was made are now out of the NFA, so that decision should go too and be abolished, we are talking about a new era in our football, we can't afford to allow old wine to dictate what should be put in a new bottle, nah nah nah, let the state election go on first before anything.

Elections into the board of the Nigeria Football Federation may be postponed for at least a year, sources have told KickOffNigeria.com.

The elections are scheduled to hold on August 21, but some candidates have called for a postponement to allow States FA elections to hold before the national elections.

Two court cases, one in Ilorin and another in Lagos, have challenged the process, and both have received the backing of the National Sports Commission.

"The government wants the elections postponed and we have two court cases, so the board will meet tomorrow (Thursday) to decide on it," a top source within the NFF board said.


"After that, we will take the matter to the Congress on the 21st and ask them to extend the tenure of the State FAs till March and the board for a year to allow us follow due process."

Yes and when he was the chairman, Insurance of Benin was in the top flight, contested numerous times in the fa cup and other competitors, got to the finals of fa cup twice, it was after he left them that the club went on relegation. Infact if he was a fully corrupt man, under the circumstances that lead to the relegation of the club, being the chairman of the league, he could have pressed some buttons and the club would have stayed afloat but then he let the due process take its course by relegating the club.

Obaseki was formerly Insurance's chairman until he contested and won the chairmanship of the NPL. You cant contest NPL chairmanship without being a club chairman. Obaseki's record as NPL chairman speaks for itself. NPL was worth between 50-60 million naira before he came in and he transformed it to a brand worth almost a billion naira(900 million). It was also under his tenure that NPL was rated as the best league in Africa. He also brought Super Sports.
IMO, Odegbami is an ex-footballer and thats where it ends. What has he done since he stopped playing? The academy he set up, i dont think its still existing.
