Enyimba claim record title

Enyimba edged an entertaining game 2-1 against Kano Pillars on Wednesday in Aba to claim a record-equalling sixth domestic title, level with Enugu Rangers.

Osas Idehen and Josiah Maduabuchi both scored for Enyimba, with Moses Ogaga converting a cross for Pillars.

Enyimba went into the game needing just a draw to match Rangers, whose last triumph was in 1984, but it took until five minutes before the break for them to open the scores, Idehen the man to find the headway.

Pillars, hunting for only their second ever title, matched the five-time winners and threatened with record-breaking league scorer Ahmed Musa a constant danger.

"He is a good player, and I must confess that Pillars are playing very well," Enyimba Media Officer Tonnext Chukwu admitted at half-time.

Despite Pillars' efforts, it was Maduabuchi, who has impressed all season in the blue of Enyimba, who got the second goal on 75 minutes.

But still Pillars refused to roll over, and were duly rewarded when Musa crossed for Moses Ogaga to finish and provide a nerve-wracking finish to a cracking encounter.

Musa won't leave Pillars for another Nigerian club, i don't see that happening, they are both going to the CL so why should he leave?

Well i didn't see the card but from the commentator, she said the card was given to the wolves player because he talked back at the ref after he fouled an opposing player. all in all, must they abandon play just because a card was given? don't we see stuffs like these happen in other leagues? why should we always turn everything to violence?

Haven't you seen player being given a red card for talking back at the ref in the EPL?

i didn't get to see the lineup well but it's looks like the usual to me.
match is still goalless at the 29th minute. pillars are doing more of defending than attacking and enyimba is attacking hard tho.

Thanks jare, don't forget that Pillars and known for their counter attack prowess, how are you going to feel seeing Enyimba struggle to score for 80 mins, then get tired? then Pillars go all out to give them the attack of their lives for the reminder of the 10mins? i see that happening, 1 GOAL is enough for Pillars at about 85 minutes

The Super FOUR idea was first muted by Charles Ojugbana, former Gen Sec of NFA. It lasted only 1 season then.
Il do some google search to see if I can get what year but I was in secondary school then and only sneaked out to go see the final match. I no fit forget that day cos one Shitta boy collect my btand new sandals for National Stadium!

Wrong info. The first super league was actually played when Charles Ojugbana (I think) was NFA GenSec. It was won by Enyimba. I watched it at the National Stadium. It was immediately discarded then because clubs felt it wasnt fair on another club that won the league over 38 games to now lose it in Lagos (at that time, Rangers won it). The Super league was played at the National Stadium - Rangers, Enyimba and two other clubs played it back then. I remember it very well.

Anyways, back to today's game. Enyimba should win. Ive not seen them in a long time but if Uche Kalu and Josiah are still there, no matter the number of goal Pillars score, Enyimba will score double  

You are joking right? when last was a game played in the national stadium? tell me you are joking, all the same, Super 4 just started of recent, it wasn't like it's been so for a long time except you're talking about the super 8. (4 top teams from the NPL and 4 from the national league). maybe you should tell us the date because i can't remember any super 4 being played at the national stadium except the super 8 in the 90s.

We wasted alot last season, we should try as much as possible never to waste money that way again, sucks.
