Flying Eagles whip Kenya 7-0 Nigeria's Flying Eagles continued their impressive run at the Four–Nation invitational tournament in Egypt on Tuesday night with a 7-0 spanking of Kenya. Last year's Fifa Under-17 World Cup MVP Sani Emmanuel weighed in with two goals, same as forward Omoh Ojabu. Midfielders George White Aguwocha and Eddy Onazi, as well as Stephen Adah completed the rout. In their first match of the tournament, the Nigerians pipped Togo 1-0, and they will play their last match against hosts Egypt on Friday. The round–robin competition has a winner’s prize of $20 000, with the second –placed team to earn $10 000 and the third –placed $5 000. The result meant Coach John Obuh kept his impressive run of results since starting with the U17 squad that finished as runners –up at the Fifa U17 World Cup last year. Following promotion to the Under-20 level, the team that has been kept together ever since won a Four–Nation invitational (Cape Town Premier’s Cup) in Cape Town, South Africa in April. Other countries that attended that competition were Brazil and Ghana, with host South Africa completing the line –up. Meanwhile, the Nigeria Football Federation has fully endorsed the action of coach Obuh in sending home midfielder Abdul Jelil Ajagun from the tournament after the player broke camp disciplinary code. The NFF has also promptly suspended the player, meaning he cannot play for his club for now, and he will be have to face the Federation’s disciplinary committee in a few days. http://www.supersport.com/football/nigeria/news/100526/Flying_Eagles_whip_Kenya_70 |
Why would he pick obasi ahead of Haruna? this is so wrong, obasi didn't even have any short at goal, is it not the same match we all saw and matched on tv? we that watched it on tv saw everything that went on on the field of play more than anyone that watched it in person. in your own word, who should have gotten the Opta? or do you support largerback's pick? |

Obasi tops OPTA scores Chinedu Obasi topped the overall OPTA assessment following the Super Eagles game against Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, with Victor Anichebe getting the highest offensive numbers. On Friday, Technical Adviser Lars Lagerback reviewed the game video with the players, pointing out errors and employing OPTA stats to assess each player's performance. Obasi got the highest overall scores, with the highest number of balls won, distance covered and successful tackles made. But his pass completion fell slightly short. Victor Anichebe got the highest attacking numbers, and was up there with Obasi in distance covered during the game, despite being subbed off in the second half. Officials said Lagerback told the players they will have to show significant improvement in the numbers as the World Cup approaches. http://www.supersport.com/football/nigeria/news/100528/Obasi_tops_OPTA_scores |
Mikel arrives, trains with Eagles John Mikel Obi arrived the Super Eagles camp on Friday morning, met with Lars Lagerback and trained with the team an hour later. Mikel has been certified fit by Chelsea and Nigeria medics, and arrived at the Nigeria training camp after undergoing his last therapy session on Thursday. The midfielder has been recuperating from a meniscus repair operation, and met with Lagerback on arrival at the camp to assure him of his fitness and readiness for the World Cup. He then joined the squad as they trained at 12:30pm but worked out on his own along with defender Onyekachi Apam, as the rest of teh team played an 11-A-Side practice game. Forward Brown Ideye also arrived on Friday, just hours before Mikel, after being held up in Nigeria by visa issues. http://www.supersport.com/football/nigeria/news/100528/Mikel_arrives_trains_with_Eagles |
Nigeria to report match agents to Fifa Nigeria and Colombia are to report Pro-Global Sports, the match agent for Sunday's pre-World Cup friendly, to Fifa for irresponsible behaviour. The game, originally scheduled to be played at West Ham's Upton Park, was on the brink of collapse, after the agents allegedly failed to meet up with their committments. It was subsequently shifted to Luton Town's stadium before both parties settled for Milton Keynes on Tuesday. NFF media officer Ademola Olajire explained that the fixture was rescued, only when the Nigeria federation volunteered to underwrite the expenses of the Colombians, including the appearance fee they were promised by the agent. "To avoid what would have been a catastrophic blow and a national embarrassment, the NFF have now stepped in, undertaking to meet all financial obligations of organizing the match, including all the costs of the Colombians and the appearance fee that Pro–Global Sports had promised them. “The agents kept telling us that everything was under control, providing documentation in support of their claims, and it was not until a delegation of the NFF visited London recently that alarm bells started ringing,” he said. Olajire confirmed that the game will now definitely go ahead as planned, at Milton Keynes, but without paying spectators "All arrangements have been made, and the match will now be played at the Milton Keynes Stadium, albeit with no commercial crowd attendance due to the short time frame." The 22 000 -capacity Milton Keynes Stadium is one 15 stadia that has been put forward by England to host the 2018 World Cup finals should their bid be successful. http://www.supersport.com/football/nigeria/news/100527/Nigeria_to_report_match_agents_to_Fifa |
Super Eagles will play better Super Eagles media officer Idah Peterside says Nigeria will play better in their next two games. The Super Eagles looked disjointed for large spells of Tuesday's pre-world Cup friendly against Saudi Arabia in Austria, and were fortunate to come away with a 0-0 draw, but Peterside says it is just a start. "It wasnt bad. It was just a matter of players trying top settle into the team and also trying to make the cut for the World Cup. They were under a little bit of pressure to perform and they are also trying to get used to the new ideas," Peterside told SuperSport.com on arrival in London. The starting eleven comprised mostly of fringe players and the former international explained that there was a method to that. "Most of those who played were either not regulars in their team or in the Eagles team and Lagerback wanted to see them first hand and assess them himself. "For the others who didnt play, he informed them before the game why they are not playing because he had already seen them and knows their abilities and what they can do. The likes of Yakubu, Osaze, Nsofor, Enyeama and so on." "But this team will get better. We are training again this evening, and they will now have a good idea of what the coach expects from them in subsequent games. That is what a match gives you. "By the time we play our next game, there should be an improvement." Nigeria play Colombia next at Milton Keynes on May 30 before rounding up their preparations with a game against North Korea on June 6. http://www.supersport.com/football/nigeria/news/100526/Super_Eagles_will_play_better |
Akpan earns praise Bayelsa United goalkeeper Akpan Bassey is earning high praise from officials and team mates alike for his performance at the Super Eagles camp. Bassey, a former junior international, is one of only two players from the domestic league who made the cut from an initial list of 44, with Lobi Stars rightback Terna Suswan the other. Both players have impressed the coaches, especially Akpan and Super Eagles media Officer Idah Peterside says the goalie has been particularly worthy of praise. "He is doing very well. Very well indeed and the coaches have been really impressed with him. "Not only the coaches. Even (Joseph) Yobo spoke very well of him and how he is performing in training. He has been really impressive and looked really sharp." http://www.supersport.com/football/nigeria/news/100525/Akpan_earns_praise |

@sagamite If u want to reduce the population, there are other ways of doing that without sheding of blood, one's to put an embargo on how many kids you're allowed to have as a married citizen and when you should marry or get pregnant if you are unmarried. Anyways, let npl introduce huge points deduction technic, you'd see the sudden effect it'll have on the league. |
SmashingM:in the next 10yrs, their population would be less than 50 thousand ![]() |

Sagamite:Unrealistic suggestions, even in south American countries where violence is a norm when it comes to club football, they don't have strict and barbaric conditions like these. you can hike the gate fee and barricade the stands from the main stadium, but to shoot at sight is the worse you have ever said so far in your NL history. |
