GEJ can't contest in a presidential election in Nigeria. He's not alone though, Buhari and OBJ can't also contest in a presidential election in Nigeria.
GEJ can contest. Had he won the second term that he lost to Buhari, he would be ineligible to contest again.
CrimeRe: UK Court Jails 23-Year-Old Nigerian For Rape by Hopez456(m): 10:38am On Dec 08, 2024
nairalanda1:
Ah, there are plenty rape cases involving white men..you just have to read the foreign media more. And watch channels like ID and cbs justice ( if you have dstv).

I can even mention a few. There was one famous case in that same UK. A white man raped and killed a female neighbor of his. ( Their landlord was initially falsely accused by the media before he was proven innocent. Oga landlord really had a field day suing the tabloids. Got a good sum of cash in compensation).

Or the white policeman who raped and in one case killed a woman. That case exposed a WhatsApp group of policemen who were posting crude comments about women. Heads rolled well well. Same UK.

Let's not even forget about famous cases of white mirderer-rapists. Dennis rader. Ted Bundy. ( America). The Yorkshire Ripper. (UK).

I will even say more white men get caught compared to other races.

Better read the foreign media , and watch the crime channels on dstv. Even YouTube got a lot of info on white British criminal rapists. Many of them go to jail live
I see lots of cases on CBS reality and CBS Justice and cringe on some type of crimes perpetrated in the western world. We are still learning here. I pray we don't get to that level...

Why is ikorodu always been ignored
Ikorodu is littered with lots of bad road but yet no attention is given to those bad roads
There are lots of construction work going on in Ikorodu. At least I know of Agric-Isawo, Igbogbo- offing/oreta, Gberigbe and Agunsoye which they mentioned to be commissioned. However, lots more attention of the govt is needed in Ikorodu
PoliticsRe: Electricity Subsidy To Hit ₦‎2.4 Trillion By Year-End – FG by Hopez456(m): 2:23pm On Dec 06, 2024

Different strokes for different folks. Maybe you're among those staying in an upgraded Band A area. Before tinubu took office, we've been enjoying electricity constantly, everyday none stop for years. The only time we wouldn't have light is when there's a national grid collapse or our transformer had issues. We could have light 3 months nin-stop in alimosho where I live. We are under 33' which comes from obasanjo farm area. Anyone reading this message can confirm what I'm saying.

Today alone, they've ceased the source of power up to 3 times and this has been happening since last year. For the first time I had to call my generator repairer to service my generator early this week. I don't go to work everyday so i should enjoy my moment while at home. In one year, I fit no put my generator on. This is what has discouraged me from moving to the island , secondly, proximity to the airport and good road network.

Dem fit take am many times more b4 today is over sef.
There's no lie in your argument. I have lived around Obasanjo farm before, the light situation there is superb. While there, we don't use gen, our gen even got rusted out of no use. Currently the light situation there is still very good because I go there frequently to visit my siblings. But, the area have been migrated to band A with Meters given to most of the houses.
Also, TCN complex is directly beside Obasanjo farm.

We just love wasting scarce resources in this country. I thought Nigeria is a secular state.

Abuja dolls out the money not accounted for.
Because some sets of Nigerians refuse fiscal federalism, as they believe they cannot survive without proceeds from crude oil in the Niger delta region.
You're right. We waste resources all in the name of ensuring equitable distribution of FG institutions in states.

And how many countries in Africa have strong and independent institutions?
So, because of the dearth of strong institutions in most countries of Africa, they should keep mismanaging resources in the name of running government business?
EducationRe: Federal Polytechnic, Ugep Has 142 Students, 154 Staff by Hopez456(m): 9:59pm On Dec 04, 2024
Blaze95:
In thatcase govt shouldn't run a a country, because having a successful country is a business that government must run.
Running a country is a different ball game from running a business. In as much there are strong and independent institutions, even a zombie will successfully run govt but same can't apply to business.

This is as a result of Every honourable wanting a higher institution in their community. And they are still passing bills for more schools.
This is also why almost every state has airports that are not viable.

Even at that, there are incremental ways of doing things. This can't happen in the private sector.
TV/MoviesRe: Netflix Denies Leaving Nigerian Market by Hopez456(m): 8:04pm On Dec 04, 2024
Discontinuation of investment in local movies is different from leaving the country. Anyways, our movie industry will be badly hit. I know Nigerian film makers will wrestle the storm.
TV/MoviesRe: Netflix Stops Buying Nigerian Content - Kunle Afolayan by Hopez456(m): 6:41pm On Dec 04, 2024
This isn't a good news. Netflix provided the avenue for Nigeria's films industry to be showcased to the world.

Producers may perhaps explore other avenue.
PoliticsRe: Wike Warns Principals Against Releasing Students To Welcome Him In Abuja by Hopez456(m): 6:38pm On Dec 04, 2024
Wow, this is good news for the people living in that area and the school particularly.

I once carried out a research in the school, truly, the school needs the upgrade as most of the projects were community self help and the road leading to the school was long dilapidated.
EducationRe: Federal Polytechnic, Ugep Has 142 Students, 154 Staff by Hopez456(m): 6:30pm On Dec 04, 2024
Teachers plenty pass students.
This can only happen in a government owned institution. That's is why government is often referred to as an inefficient manager of resources and has been argued that government has no business in business.

Why spend hugely on overheads when the students can temporarily be merged with a nearby poly pending when there is increase in application to the new school.
PoliticsRe: If The North Secedes Today Will Tinubu Declare War? by Hopez456(m): 10:24am On Dec 04, 2024
The north seceding would be the greatest thing to happen to the south. Lugard amalgamated the north with the south cos the resources of the south was used to run the north hence he saw the reason to join the two region.

The north can not be without the south.

The tax bill is generating lots of resistance from a region most probably because it will expose the lack of creativity by the most of the theiving governors. Enough of the feeding bottle Republic. Let's for once practice a semblance of true federalism.

Moreover,we can amend the law if we find some aspects unapplicable.
I think we are saying the same thing. My actual fears is the govt backtracking and not sticking strictly to the bill's provision in the long run.

PoliticsRe: Nigeria Tax Reforms Bill 2024 - How Does It Affect You? by Hopez456(m): 6:37pm On Nov 30, 2024
The fact that people earning below 1m annually will not be taxed and VAT on electricity, Food, Pharmaceuticals will be excluded I think the reform is a welcome devt. However People need to know that VAT on other Items will be 10% from 2025 and progressively increased as the years go by.

If not for very low penetration level, insurance ought to be ahead of financial institutions. A whole lot of awareness still need to be done about the benefits of insurance among Nigeria.
